Another Robert Lamm song 👍 I think Amber will be mostly moved by the lyrics and his emotional approach to the woman he's singing to. He delivery, his phrasing will swoon her. 🙂
You guys do a great job. Amber mentioned the other day how she felt she has grown. Music is awesome. Most of it is good, if one has an open mind, and appreciation for talent.
Another big horn band is Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Good songs include You Made Me So Very Happy, Spinning Wheel, Lucretia McEvil. BS&T also performed at Woodstock.
Please try "Colour My World" -- the slow dance at many a high school dance when I was a kid. Another side of Chicago I think you will appreciate. Really shows the diversity of their talent.
Some more, B-B-Q in the Park tunes: The Friends Of Distinction - "Grazing, In The Grass". "I can dig it. He can dig it. She can dig it. We can dig it. They can dig it. You can dig it. Sly & The Family Stone - "Hot Fun, In The Summer Time".
Robert Lamm has lead vocals on this track, which he also wrote. He's one of three original members still with the group. The other two are Lee Loughnane (trumpet) and James Pankow (trombone). Chicago has been performing for over 50 years.
Peter Cetera.... What a voice!!! 💖 Chicago has an immense library!!! Colour My World, Hard To Say I'm Sorry, Love Me Tomorrow, You're The Inspiration, Wishing You Were Here, Hard Habit To Break and countless others are worthy of checking out!! 🎶🎶
BILLY JOEL- SCENES FROM AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT. The version from "The Stranger" album. A great story song, about the beginning and end of a relationship.
I've been wanting to make that recommendation for a long time. All the horns and piano a sane person could ask for. While you're at it, you absolutely HAVE TO DO Chicago's first album, first track: Introduction. Amber, after your reaction to the horns in The Logical Song, (which I've re-watched countless times), you might wanna' get a seat belt for that one. Just sayin'........
Wife here..As Amber stated always amazing instrumentation..Wow..You guys are hitting my parents pop rock favorites recently..Thank you for reminding me of them when they were happy..Love Your reactions!
"Saturday In the Park" is the song of theirs that gives me chills of nostalgia, much like "Maybe It's You" by the Carpenters. Another favorite of mine by Chicago is "Questions 67 and 68," which I wish was on their greatest hits (Chicago IX) album.
Another great park song is “Another Park, Another Sunday” by the Doobie Brothers. I think you’d like it. “I’m a Man” by Chicago Transit Authority (early days Chicago) is probably my favorite.
FEELING STRONGER EVERY DAY would be the perfect choice for next Chicago song since you recently did MAKE ME SMILE (Terry Kath), Robert Lamm wrote and sang this tune, making Cetera next. Continue that rotation until it's just his left as he was lead in the majority of their work.
Saw them last week in New Orleans. After 57 years, they are still amazing. The original members still performing had incredible energy. I could see how much they loved touring and performing
They have so many other bands they can also listen to during that era. What a great era for music. Thankfully I grew up listening to this music. Today's music isn't even close
Both of you will love Chicago's inspiring "Feeling Stronger Every Day" and their early masterpiece "Beginnings" - the almost 8-minute long version. :-) Have a beautiful week!
SPEAKING OF TIME Do you ever think about ETERNITY ? This is a very awesome way to have a platform for the Lord Jesus Christ. Eternity is coming for everyone whether you want to think about it or not. To know that you are going to be around forever. Either in Heaven with God or in Hell with Satan. God made it possible to be with him. All he asks you is to believe in his son the Lord Jesus Christs his death burial and resurrection. To cleanse you from your sins past present and future Sins took all your shame and Guilt and he died for everybody that's ever lived and when you know he died for you,,,, personally...to forgive all your sins past present and future sins and you can add nothing of your own works to add for your salvation. He will give you wonderful peace FOR EVER He has me. This is the best NEWS Ever I hope to see you in Heaven .Take care God bless you have a great day
The 4th of July in Chicago is the Taste of Chicago where restaurants from all over Chicago set up booths in Grant Park. And there's music and rides for kids. Really fantastic. I've always assumed "40 days in the park and everyday's the 4th of July" means going to the taste of Chicago year after year.
Chicago sure did make so.ee awesome music. And they all have wonderful voices. I grew up listening to groups like these, and I'm soooo sad to say, that we wo t ever get em back. I feel I was so privileged to grow up during this time. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL, & I LOVE YOU GUYS. FOR EVERRRRRR. ❤🎤🎼❤🎤🎼😎🇬🇧🇺🇸
I always imagined when I heard this song smoke from a barbecue people throwing Frisbees a lot of small kids running with their dog and as cliche as it sounds "a Saturday at any park" is exactly what this song sounds and feels like! This particular song always brings a smile! I used to actually have the album with this song on it in 8-track!
Reminds me of being in Middle School being in choir and being invited to sing several times at Magic Mountain! We got Season Passes as a Reward! Good Times!!!
@@mjkdmain The world is so very different now, for the worse.. I feel a little sorry for the kids now. They've inherited such a cheap imitation of life these days as kids. At least we got to enjoy this world a little before the Elites began to outwardly destroy it in mass.
Jay and Amber, I'm reliving my formative years through you two. Thanks so much for playing and loving Chicago. Glad you have such an appreciation for them. Perhaps one day, you can listen to one of their lost 1975 hits: Harry Truman. Its sentiment is one that easily applies to today. And it's unlike anything else they've ever done ... a cross between Randy Newman and the Beatles!
I think you guys would really enjoy "No Tell Lover", "Call on me", and "Feeling Stronger Everyday". On another note you guys already reacted to "Hard to say I'm sorry", but not "Getaway" which is attached to it, and some stations play them together. Not suggesting it for a reaction just thought you would like to hear it. Essentially the song answers whether or not his apology was accepted.
As a rule, I hate 80s Chicago, but Getaway I love. I suffer the lovey dovey drivel of Hard To Say, just to hear Getaway. To me, Chicago completely changed in 82, started mostly syrupy love songs and lost all musical meat. Even the fast songs like Along Comes a Woman did nothing for me. I started liking them again in 95, when they did a big band jazz album.
@@dawnpatrol700 I Can't deny Foster. I know to an extent that he mellowed Chicago out but a lot of that production was pretty GOOD. He just didn't know what to do with the horn section which was the Core of Chicago.
Chicago 's music and lyrics are so vivid and clear its like you can feel the breezes ,see the people milling about, hear them talking, and feel the sunshine on your face all at the same time. They put you there.Just puts you in a good mood.Beautiful.
outside with my friends playing touch football in the street, water balloon fights with the girls on the block all the while this song blasting in the background. I miss those days.
The song of my early childhood. Early 1970s, man. With music like this, we old GenXers didn't need "children's music"; the music on the radio was already perfect. :)
I keep waiting for y’all to react to Blood, Sweat, and Tears with David Clayton-Thomas singing lead. Innovative sound, great vocals, and great horns. Give the people what they want and pick any of these: Spinning Wheels, God Bless the Child, You’ve Made Me So Very Happy, And When I Die.
God Bless the Child by Blood, Sweat and Tears. One of the first Rock-Brass combos Also, You Made Me So Very 😊 Happy One Fine Morning by Lighthouse. Vehicle by the Ides of March. Lots of Horns!!!
Boy, this song takes me back to the 1970’s back in junior high school with the ice cream truck there after school. Also my older sister with her long straight hair who would hang out a lot in the park with her friends … an probably smoking.
I saw them 10 yrs ago here in Windsor Ontario. A beautiful summer evening, and I was soaring with light heartedness! Not a single dud in their performance! 🎶👍
Funny how I went to see Chicago at SDSU outdoor theater. Some Rap band opened that I'd never heard of. Our seats were almost too the top. When the first band ended, half the crowd left. Someone had first row tickets and gave them to me. They never heard of Chicago so we gave our tickets to some people that couldn't get in and we sat with Chicago in our face. Great Time had by all.
Amber's face lights up when the horns play... I have a playlist with Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, KC & TSB and lots of other horn bands. So glad to see the love ❤
Amber, you said that listening to Chicago “makes me smile”. They have a song that is called Make Me Smile. It would fit your feeling about the group and also your daily goal to make someone smile. That is definitely a song that requires a reaction. 😀
Amber & Jay, you are so right. When I hear this song, it's Saturday which feels different than any other day of the week. Being in the park on the fourth of July means children playing, picnics, fire crackers & balloons. In Philadelphia's Fairmount Park we had fresh spring water spouts, water was always available. The fourth of July, Independence Day, when I was a little girl everyone wore our country's colors, red, white & blue. There was a sea of red, white & blue every where you looked. It was a beautiful sight to behold. This song just makes you feel good, full of joy & the happiest of memories.
They were insane in concert. All the instruments, all the band members. The stage was filled. I think this is my favorite song from them. They have so many great songs.
"Bright" is the word. Love that Chicaga-tude! I lived in the area in the early 1970s, and have attended seven of the band's performances there, and elsewhere. I've lost count of the vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, and such that I've collected over the decades.
I was lucky enough to see them Pre Pandemic at Jones beach Theater. Everyone was dancing. This is one of my Favorited Chicago Songs Neck and neck with Color my World.
My wife has a crush on the trombonist, James Pankow, because the first time we saw Chicago live, he pointed at her and winked. I'll bet he has "girlfriends" everywhere. 😍 I think you should stay with songs from the first eleven albums for now because then you'll still be dealing with the same seven core (beginning) members of the band. I'd say go to my favorite Chicago song next, Dialogue parts 1&2 (on the same album as Saturday in the Park), except that I think you should go right back to the beginning and listen to the first song from the first album wherein they introduce themselves to the world with, Introduction. It really does clue you in to what they're all about. Then you can move on to a long, long list of fabulous tunes. Really fabulous... Love you guys. Carry on!
I was always a fan of early Chicago, the later ballads were fine, but the instrumentation and song structure in the first few albums was phenomenal . Really would like to see a reaction to "Beginnings".
Pure summertime, pure joy, pure artistry! You can't ask any more from music than that! 💯💕
One of their best.
Summer 1972. This song puts me right back there. ❤
Can't say it any better than you have. This is definitely one of the songs in the summer songbook of my life, hail Chicago and the summer of 1972
Chicago exemplifies when groups had to be able to play real instruments and sing with quality real voices! Their songbook is Deep and FANTASTIC!
"Beginnings" definitely should be your next Chicago song. Amber will love the trombone solo; it's great.
Yes!! Beginnings is such a gorgeous romantic song.
Agree! I could listen to that song every day and not get tired of it.
100% agree
@wordsmyth8 I totally agree. It’s my favorite song of all time!
Another Robert Lamm song 👍

If you want another song with great horns, try Blood Sweat and Tears - “You make me so very happy” I’m sure you both would enjoy it.
Yes they were great too!
That is a Perfect Pick! it makes me so very happy!
I’ve been suggesting this for MONTHS! ❤️
My older brother got me hooked on BS&T when I was a kid. My favorite was always "And When I Die".

Jay/Amber, Their "Beginnings", "Feeling Stronger Everyday" and "Just You n' Me" are next for you!
I also recommend "Wake Up Sunshine"

I would “Dialogue pt1 and 2” and “ Wake Up Sunshine”
Every song by Chicago takes you on a journey.
Another big horn band is Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Good songs include You Made Me So Very Happy, Spinning Wheel, Lucretia McEvil. BS&T also performed at Woodstock.

Spinning Wheel has my favorite trumpet solo. The late great Lew Soloff! (note: the solo was edited out of the single version)

They are one of the few bands that had so much more than a couple of guitars and drums. I think at one time I had every album of theirs.
Another vote for Blood, Sweat, and Tears! So much to listen to there much like Chicago but more vocal punch.
Not more vocal punch...what?
My all time favorite song by my all-time favorite musicians.
My wife has a crush on the trombonist, James Pankow, because the first time we saw Chicago live, he pointed at her and winked. I'll bet he has "girlfriends" everywhere. 😍
I think you should stay with songs from the first eleven albums for now because then you'll still be dealing with the same seven core (beginning) members of the band.
Carry on!
Love me some Jimmy Pankow too!!! Woohoo
Love all chicago !!!!!!!!!the best sound ,you guys make me smile !!!!😍😍
I was always a fan of early Chicago, the later ballads were fine, but the instrumentation and song structure in the first few albums was phenomenal . Really would like to see a reaction to "Beginnings".
