I like to think of perspective mode as a big flash light instead of sonar when talking about shadows. The bigger the shadow the higher the fish is in the water column. This it casts a bigger shadow and those near the bottom will cast a smaller shadow.
how deep do you recommend the transducer be in the water? i'm using the 32 transducer on a kayak and my picture is decent but nothing like what you're getting

I’ve done test and I’ve found 6 inches to be sufficient
