You really do a Nice instructive video on the Garmin units. i just got the EchoMap ultra 106. Really like the ease of learning all the features. Had a EchoMap plus 94sv. All pretty similar units. I just have a small Lund fishing boat. It is set up with the Live Scope , and is JUST FANTASTIC. Love it all at 81 years old. Thanks again for the very good job you do.
Just added livescope & twin echomap plus 93sv's. I'll be adding this perspective mount for sure to check it out and see what I can do with it. Especially for $99 for the mount. Thanks for the heads up!
Put it on the stern, troll with a bunch of lines using a big crank bait for pike and muskie or worm harnesses for walleye etc....and watch fish come up to it and hopefully strike, like a camera but even better. Yeah that’s what I’m talking about...you heard it here first
I run the garmin live scope with a mega 360 and its the best of both worlds if you can afford it...the mega 360 imaging is so crystal crisp and clear its unreal and then to have the forward sonar with it is money
Take it to the lake and show some fish swimming around in the perspective mode....that would be really cool. Also since this is 2 years ago is this perspective mode always been there or did this come in a software update? Do you know if it's on the 2022 systems now?
I’m pretty sure the cone is 20 degrees and transducer is horizontal for perspective. Is cone covering shallow water only due to its stationary depth mounting? So depending on depth of water I may not be able to see the bottom? Am I thinking correctly?
I just ordered my Garmin force system. Thanks for all your insight in helping me making this major decision ! Can you please describe how you actually use the livescope… Do you pull up to a location, shut off the trolling motor, and then rotate the head with the foot pedal? Can you rotate the shaft of the force with the foot pedal when the propeller is not spinning and scan ? Assuming you cannot use the live scope while you’re moving as the image would be blurred? Thank you so much!
Yes you would move the LiveScope by turning the trolling motor. Livescope works very well when you are not moving. The image doesn't blur because it's always updating in real time. So it's just like watching TV
From the video I take it that you have/prefer a Garmin system, with console and front units, using Humminbird solely for the Mewl 360. Do you find that Garmin with its mega frequency 54 transducer produces as good a side scan and Humminbirds Mega sidescan? Thanks.
That would be my preference. I like the image from a GT54, but the Mega from Humminbird is really good as well. I don't think you can go wrong either way and those two seem to be the best you can get today
Thank you for the awesome videos. Is there a difference in the 1222 vs 1242 as far as processor or image quality? Is 1222 compatible with perspective view? Thanks.
No. Just the mapping loaded to them. The 42 comes with North American maps, and the 22 comes with no mapping. I might be wrong what the 22 comes with, but the only difference is maps. And yes the 1222 works
Good video. You said the latest updated version of software must be 18 or later. As of March 21, 2021 the latest version is 16.1? Just bought the unit and can’t get the perspective tool bar to show up? Hope you see this.
I think it’s not good on the trolling motor. In the waves with my deep v it keeps coming out of the water in moderate waves.image so far is crap. But I’m probably doing something wrong lol
Can you tell me please, is it possible to put a mark on a shoal of fish on the live scope mode ,that will be displayed on the chart plotter. Thanks in advance..
Lawren- I have a problem on a newly installed LiveScope with ultra 106sv. I have it installed on side pole mount on a 16 foot aluminum semi-V. That side of the boat is 2 inches lower in the water than the other side due to having unbalanced load on that side of the boat. (in the process trying to balance load). I am running the system on 10 gauge wire direct to a old battery with 550 cranking amps.. The system is showing 12.4 volts and the black box is blinking green. Would you comment on if or what type of problems this situation might cause. Thanks for all your videos going back to your Lowrance Videos.
You're image may just be angled incorrectly due to the angle the pile will be on. You'll also have to monitor your voltage through the day to see if it drops which could result in poor images the lower the voltage gets
I don't like that you have to let the trolling motor down manual to use live scope. If the big motor is running and trolling motor is up you can't see anything on the dash. You need 2 transducers one for landscape view on the transom this is a must-have even for the 360 transom mount. Humminbird has stopped making the auto-deploy for transition. Someone needs to make an auto stow deploy for 360 on transom !
Now i dont lnow how to use my livescope. I have a 12” screen but the numbers on the right take so much space. Is there a way to turn those numbers off so i use the full screen for image?
I’m pretty certain, that at least in the 1022, the telemetry info on the right side can not be completely scrubbed. I had the same question about 9 months ago and have not been able to clear that portion. With all items in “hidden” mode, even time of day, the time of day still shows on the right side, with that portion of the screen still not acting as a part of the sonar graph.
When you are using the combo screens with the LiveScope and Sidescan or Downscan….is the system pulling all that information from the Force Transducer or is some of it coming from the transducer mounted on the boat ? Can the system pull data from two transducers at once ? Thanks!
It would be using the Force transducer for side and down and the Livescope comes from it's own transducer. You can use as many transducers as your unit can have plugged in, or networked from other units in the boat
I am 70 years old and just now ordering this system. For crappie fishing straight down with a 14 foot rod at debts ranging from 4 foot to 25 foot, can you or others suggest which of the modes would be best to use?
You'll want to experiement with the different modes to see what you like the best. I would use the perspective mode when you are looking for structure the crappie will be in around you. If you are sitting on top of a school of fish, then I would use the Down mode so watch how the fish react to your lure.
I really like the live scope but do you need a depth finder also or does the live scope depth finder also I’ve heard you have to adjust it every time you move or is it a depth finder if your moving around
The LiveScope is a transducer that you'll add to a Sonar/GPS unit. So in most cases you'll have a transducer with that unit on the boat already which will provide depth, fish finder, and possibly side and down scan
2 questions 1. Have seen a few posts of interference from the trolling motor when using live scope is the a problem or a few isolated cases ? 2 in perspective view does the head of the trolling motor not get in the way and interfere with the line of sight from the beam ? thanks
I have seen that as well in a few cases but never experienced it myself. I had a friend who had the issue, but he got it resolve (He never told me what he had to do though). In perspective mode it would be mounted to the shaft of the motor which would have the transducer higher up and the beams would shoot out over the motor
@@InDepthSonar I have troubles finding the bottom and seeing my lure in perspective mode. My transducer is pole mounted on the side of my boat. If I understand well, we have a 135° angle wide (horizontally), but only 20° vertically, so does that mean that I have to play with the angle of my transducer in perspective mode to pick up the bottom and therefore my lure? What would be the maximum depth you can use the perspactive mode then?
@@InDepthSonar Cheers for that, I think I figured out thats what you meant. I updated software on my GPSMAP 952XS but it still doesn't have perspective view. Looks like it may only be available on the 952XS Plus. Bummer
You are using the demo mode as stated below and it indicates that you are in 32 feet of water. Considering that the transducer has a 20 degree beam width it will be a long distance from the transducer before it will "see" the bottom and show any detail. This is not what the demo indicates.
@@InDepthSonar I installed the new update but naturally the day I was going to get to use it a blizzard blows into Texas where I'm at on lake Fork.....

Thanks for the kind words and hope they are helping you get the most out of your Garmin units. Those EchoMap Ultras are nice!
Good vid! You picked the perfect back ground music!
Finally a good exp of how you flip. I was gonna get 360, but have two scopes, so why not leave one in perspective mode and forgo the 360
Glad it helped you. Good idea as well!
Good job explaining perspective
what are those dark "crab claw" looking areas coming from the transducer? I have them and they are in the way!

Have been using a ps-31 that exact way for some time now. Just added livescope perspective for shallow water trolling. Can't wait to try.
Great work Lawren! Your video's have been very helpful in using my Livescope.
Glad to hear they have helped!!
Interesting you can Say too by moving transducer angle you Ll reduce shadow for clear view
Thanks for the great insight into Perspective Mode 👍 👍

Yes you can!
What do you think about having A360 and that lives scope?
I think that's the best setup you can have. However I wouldn't run the livescope in perspective mode. I would run it in forward mode
does waypoint icons show up in perspective mode like they can on 360?
No I don't think they can.
Do you have to change the orientation of the transducer to get perspectIve mode? If so do I lose the forward view?
Yes you would have to physically rotate the transducer so you'll only be able to view one mode at a time
