There is no left/right/center for the display: only depth/distance. Just got my unit last year and now realize I was likely casting to fish that weren't positioned where the screen showed them. Livescope does not find fish it just tells you if fish are there. Good points about trash or noncatchable fish. I chase big redfish and tarpon easier to spot.
I watched this video again and noticed you run a Skeeter rig. I trust your honesty so here is a question. First let me say I love Skeeter boats. I have fished in one and drove it. I am retired and I don't fish tournaments. My wife and I just fish for bass for the fun of it. She likes to go slow around 3000 to 3500 rpms and enjoying the ride. She drives most of the time. Now I will get back to the question. Skeeter boats I hear porpose( not sure about that spelling) up to 4000rpms before they level out for a smooth ride. Could you reply on this video your thinking on this matter?
That totally depends on the model and year the hull. Some do, some don’t. I honestly think you need more of a deep v type boat if that’s the RPMs y’all like to chill at. Skeeter’s got those too! Feel free to email me about this if you have more questions. TylersReelFishing@gmail.com
By what multiple do you think livescope increases the count of fish you catch in a single day? I just started fishing in local tourneys in july this year and have found that the guys with livescope seem to always catch their limit and cull fish but I rarely do. I'm sure some of it can be chalked up to inexperience but I'm curious if in a given day I typically catch 4-6 bass...would I expect that to turn into 6-8, 8-12, etc. because I can rule out areas with no fish and focus more-so on those that do? Welcome other users thoughts here as well!
Hmm, there really is no good answer to that. Sometimes I catch 1-3 more fish per day because of it, and sometimes (rarely), I only make a cast when I see one. Mostly suspended fish winter days. Those days years ago I would only catch 1-2 per day, now I’m catching a dozen or more. It really is hard to quantify though More experience on bodies of water, and spring time events will even out the field. But if it’s winter, summer, or smallmouth, Livescope guys will always do better
@TylersReelFishing thanks so much for the reply! Quick follow up! Would you consider forward facing sonar essential for competing in tournaments nowadays?
I'll watch it and save the video, but I won't need it until "I need it," lol half the time I see you guys using fish finders, I have no idea what the heck you're looking at in the first place. It would have to be something that like you had to do, and learn it over time. Right now I don't own a boat or even a kayak, so just walking around with it on the bank, doesn't sound like it would be that great of an idea. I've seen a few apps they have for phones, but I think they're just more or less data, not sonar. I could be wrong, but that's all I know.
Crazy how people who got access to electronics biggest issues is fish hugging the bottom or too much informations they wouldn't have access to under what fishing used to be. It's only a matter of short time before people adjust compare to what used to take decades from gaining local and seasonal knowledge. Can't deny it's a much more powerful tool on par with what took decades for locals to learn about their favorite holes if not way better.
Right? Bunch of spoiled a'holes complaining about their livescope! It's comical! Oh woah is me, all this $30,000 worth of equipment is hindering me now. DOH! Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Its just another tool, that has a learning curve, that helps you find fish (Doesn't help you catch them) just like all the fishing electronics of the past. I'll get it when I can afford it. And I'll keep catching them without it.
same with 360, same with target lock, same with side scan, same with down imaging, same with 2D, same with spot lock, same with power poles, mapping etc...
Ehh, even I would argue that it does help you catch them, when they are in certain moods. Not to the extent that the haters like to claim, but it’s still there.
True, but lots of things in life are that way. If you don’t learn to handle a fast sports car well, and you buy an expensive one, you’re gonna be disappointed at the handling, cause you just don’t know how to use it best yet
Hey Tyler, awesome vid. I definitely think livescope gives the angler a very niche advantage. Personally, I don’t enjoy watching pro anglers in tourneys use it but that is a personal preference. I think randy blauket said it best when he said it’s like a putter in gold that does all your put calculations for you and all you have to do is decide to putt. Maybe I’m wrong on that but that is kinda what it looks to me. But other than personal preference, there is one big thing I am not a fan of livescope for. I think if this tech is continued to be used it may have a negative effect on the big breeder stock in lakes and could potentially really affect genetics of bass to come. Historically the biggest fish in lakes could hide very effectively from anglers out deep. Now that is much harder with livescope and they could be abused and not have the survival rates tagt they used to. Especially fish brought up from really deep may have a hard time getting back down to the bottom if not an impossible time due to pressure. You see it in saltwater fishing all the time that a fish died due to an unhealthy release from being caught off bottom in really deep water. I am not sure how it all will play out and I hope to be proven wrong but that is my fear.
Randy is 1,000,000% wrong on that putter comparison, as with many comparisons he makes. I can respect his desire to not use it, but he makes some pretty outlandish claims in my opinion
man i love reading this. i unsubbed from him about a year ago when he was railing against drag of all things. c'mon! he's opposed the people using drag??? for real??? also he didn't name names but i felt he was talking about taku ito. everybody loves taku! that guy's an old crank
I’m pretty sure most people who hate on live scope are mostly just expressing the fact that they would also like a 50-60,000+ dollar bass boat with live scope, at least that’s what I would like to have 😭
@@TylersReelFishing Maybe so but like everything else in life, there are true lovers of a trade, a profession, or in this case a sport, and then there are the sell outs.
@@TylersReelFishing What I am saying, is that just as there are Multi Million dollar boxing fights, and amateur fights, which are always better because they are hungry fighters not relying on the million dollar payout, there should be tournaments for anglers that do not rely on looking at a screen all day for direction, but rather use skill and instinct to find the fish. Just my, and many others, opinion. Don't get upset, you put out content, you need to expect mixed reactions.
@@hectorcamacho5565I agree that there is something to knowing what your doing without electronics, but there is a skill to being able to read the higher end fish finder and use different sonars to figure out as to where the fish are, just because you use Livescope, active target, mega live or any sonar doesn’t mean your less skilled, there’s a time and place for Livescope, in the spring I really never use mine, but in mid summer and mid winter it’s the difference from getting skunked and catching a giant, it’s just really useful for specific times of the year and different body’s of water, it’s a long shot to try and through the baby out with the bath water and say Livescope is cheating, and it should be banned, yes it gives anglers an advantage over others who don’t have it, but you still gotta catch the fish, it doesn’t do that for you. Hope this helps, God bless! Tight lines!
I did exactly what your talking about. I caught 2 fish and if I had been fishing like normal I would have done better. In my defense though I’ve just recently got FF. I am still learning how to use!
Never said it’s better than normal “blind” fishing all the time! But in certain situations, if you’re in the right areas and know how to use it well, Livescope anglers will blow “blind” anglers out of the water
@@TylersReelFishing I think I am getting the hang of it. It obviously isn’t guaranteed but I caught a couple off a spot I don’t think I would have ever caught without it. After that they just shut down but I know there was more there. I probably should have cycled threw a few more baits.

None of these sound like real problems with the livescope. It sounds like more of an experience using the livescope. You could experience all the same problems with the regular sonar.

Love the way you explain everything!
Thanks so much!
Man, you are spot with this video. When they lock on the bottom, they are hard to see.
hah. feels like this is the fishing version of "watching a concert through your phone camera". missing out on the good stuff.
So if you are anything but a bass fisherman this is perfect.
It really is hard to quantify though
More experience on bodies of water, and spring time events will even out the field. But if it’s winter, summer, or smallmouth, Livescope guys will always do better
@TylersReelFishing thanks so much for the reply! Quick follow up! Would you consider forward facing sonar essential for competing in tournaments nowadays?
Livescope helps you see what areas are fishy, see structure, see contours, help with boat positioning....
Average Joe?? Ha
NOT, great info Tyler as always
Hmmmm Idk first time I touched It was easy..but it's not for me..ancestors taught me to find fish without staring at the Xbox screen lol
Excellent points. Been there, done that!
Good points Tyler!
Can you do a video of your power pole trolling motor?
@@TylersReelFishing Fair enough. I don't have it so I wouldn't know
What is your setting
The issue is livescope costs so much it forces you to have such high expectations from using it
True, but lots of things in life are that way. If you don’t learn to handle a fast sports car well, and you buy an expensive one, you’re gonna be disappointed at the handling, cause you just don’t know how to use it best yet
Great video. Thank you.
Nice and clear take on FFS.
Got an even better one coming soon
I blocked all Randy's channels from popping up on my account. Cant stand him
We call'm PEE's, Performance Enhancing Electronics, tournament payouts should be less for using it.
Good video Tyler🤙
Thank you sir!!
Love your videos. Thank you
good info. One of the next videos I would love to hear your review on the power pole move trolling motor??
I’ll talk about it when I get my next boat
The biggest problem for me with livescope: I live in the Chicago area and don't really want to find someone's body.
Haha true
I’m pretty sure most people who hate on live scope are mostly just expressing the fact that they would also like a 50-60,000+ dollar bass boat with live scope, at least that’s what I would like to have 😭
It may not be cheating, but it definitely is turning the game on easy mode.
Tell us u have never used it without telling us hotrod
@trumpking4874 have it. But please don't tell me your actually trying to argue that it's more difficult to fish using it.
Great job!
They should separate the pro tournaments into two categories: those that use electronics, and REAL anglers!!!
The REAL anglers would go to whatever tournament trail pays more… which will be the one sponsored by electronics manufacturers
@@TylersReelFishing Maybe so but like everything else in life, there are true lovers of a trade, a profession, or in this case a sport, and then there are the sell outs.
Would you call KVD a sellout since he uses live imaging?
Tight lines!
did...did you just call stripers and hybrids trash fish?!? I'm offended by the notion! haha
They are in fact trash
Wipers fight 10× harder than a bucket mouth..how u figure they are trash ..
Stripers are true bass, largemouth are sunfish homie@@TylersReelFishing
so true I spend too much time looking at the screen LOL.
Check out this course, I think it will vastly shorten your FFS learning curve: thebasstankacademy.com/link/hfERVl
@@TylersReelFishing I think I am getting the hang of it. It obviously isn’t guaranteed but I caught a couple off a spot I don’t think I would have ever caught without it. After that they just shut down but I know there was more there. I probably should have cycled threw a few more baits.
Its going to go somewhere in tournament fishing guaranteed
I totally agree.
You should try deeper START bobber sonar from shore. For bank fisherman. Might get a new sponsor. I've used mine 3 times now and love it. Specifically for depth and drop offs. Just a thought.
I’ve thought about it, I just rarely spend enough time at certain ponds to make it worth it.
You gotta use side image more
Yep
Good video
GPS is unfair. Triangular reckoning is real talent.
Lol
Spot on again livescope is not easy to use when it comes to bass fishing. Crappie fishing its easy but not bass fishing.
Tyler thanks for videos and all your tips & advice. Us average Joe's and family men it is hard to justify FFS, family first always. Reading some of your "members" comments, the one that I got a kick out of said it all, if you aren't scoping your just hoping. Sounds to me guys like him probably don't know the first thing about real bass fishing, seasonal patterns, time of day, water clarity, etc etc etc. Wonder if he ever gave thought about the last place he scoped that didn't show fish. JUST SAYING
Ive been fishing over 30 years, got ffs this spring.. improved all my pbs in a couple of sessions.. just saying.. Fishing the same water i did before.. i couldve never found/caught those fish without it. Like if a nice rod costs 400 bucks then spending 1k on a ducer isnt so crazy.
If you aren't scoping you're fishing, lmao
Libescope makes my brain feel weird.
not only does he have a 16inch screen but his hair is on point also LOL Great info
Haha thanks
So which do you think is better...new livescope or active target 2
Livescope plus. All day
all of these "issues" sound more like user error and not Livescope issues.
Its just another tool
Live scope is far too expensive for me.
Bass =green carp
Lol
Plot twist. Livescope if forcing giant bass to leave deep water collums and travel shallow? Hmm
I hope so!
Most big bass will just die off.. after being caught a few times.. over deep water.. there used to be so many more of them.. now even their last hideouts are not safe.. i dont see things improving for big fish..
@@larsvegas1505they're delusional
I don’t get the appeal of electronics but don’t care that people use them either. I have a canoe and rig a couple rod holders on it and hit unpressured waters where guys with big boats can’t go.
And I love doing stuff like that!
What’s better FFS or 360?
FFS and it’s not even close
Don’t go bud light on us and lose your base bro
Brother I release 2 videos a week, some pond focused, some kayak focused, some shallow fishing focused, some deep fishing focused, some with electronics, some without. If I put out a Livescope video once in a blue moon and you unsubscribe because of it, you wild 😂
@@TylersReelFishing dude, I won’t. Just tired of all the ffs bs
Maybe in the heat of the moment we should be like skywalker and use the force instead of the scope.
the problem with livescope is people are buying crazy technologies they could never hope to fully utilize and its very wasteful and harmful to our environment. do these people know the environment is where the fish live? or do they just not care?
Casting your luer 😂 and finding them doesn't help your point
Video gaming on your boat….
None of these sound like real problems with the livescope. It sounds like more of an experience using the livescope. You could experience all the same problems with the regular sonar.
You are very correct. Welcome to RUclips, gotta have a compelling title for anyone to watch
@@TylersReelFishingyeah, youtube is lame
Thrash fish go in the fryer 🤤
OK… everyone is entitled to their own opinion but these anti livecopers take it TOO far livescope is not ruining the sport for you. You can fish the bank and the old fashioned way all you want and can still catch fish. 🤦🏼♂️😂
Livescopes are beaming radiation directly into the water
HI
If you fish bass tournaments if you want to finish in the money you must have one!
Nowadays, especially
Some State game and fish: if you want to shoot a crossbow you need a doctor's note that says your shoulders are no good.
Also state game and fish: forward facing sonar? Everybody get one.
The State Fish and Game in all the states are watching ??
Is this cheating in tournaments? Why use a rod and reel. We should use live scope or FFS and troll with a net.
All depends on how far you can go until anything becomes cheating. No one en masse called side scan cheating, or even 360 imaging. So why is this all of a sudden cheating?
Josh Jones has said in podcast that we can tell the fish species, being able to read minor differences is a skill for sure but eventually more people will figure it out
He can tell*. The vast majority of us can’t, and never will
Is that tucker carslons son?
Haha
Did Ted McGinley regress to his adolescent years and is now referring to himself as Tyler???
The biggest problem with live scope is that it makes any fishing video unwatchably boring
Simply because of the angle of someone's head? So if I had the image projected into my sunglasses you'd be ok with it?
@@TylersReelFishing it's boring to watch someone stare at a screen
Nothing personal man. I love your videos. Just my opinion.
