Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but you can mark your line with ivory soap (or just put some soap near the line) on the aluminum and heat it until the soap turns black. Ivory soap turns black at the same temperature for annealing aluminum, so once it turns black, you can bend it safely without tearing it. Thanks for the vid!
Hey Jesse. Me and my dad just built this whole mount for my kayak today and it’s incredible. You gave excellent instructions! I really appreciate you putting out this types of videos. Thank you.
Awesome video and one of the best thorough build explanations I've seen on You Tube...EVER!!! And I've watched literally thousands of videos! Usually always some key piece of information is not explained or explained very well, leaving the otherwise video worthless. You did both Excellent! Old School like...which is very rare these days with all the millenials on board...Thanks for keeping Old School Real! Cheers, and God's Blessings always! 🙏💖🙏
appreciate it man, you're the reason I can afford a livescope because of people like you sharing, I don't have to buy the expensive Pole and also the other accessory
Thanks for posting these videos. I copied your build and upon completion, found your new bracket. I’m hoping to get out tomorrow to try out the Livescope. I plan to make this bracket in the near future. I should add that your sheepshead and trout LiveScope videos are some of the only brackish/saltwater videos out there. The videos helped me confirm that this would work for what I need.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I am glad you took the initiative to build your own mount! I did warn early on that I would probably improve the original mount but I didn't expect do to it so soon. Anyway the original is going to work great for you, I mean it literally is a direct copy of Garmin's design. If you feel the problems I mention are an issue for you then I would suggest trying the new setup. Thanks again!
Southern Reels Fishing, definitely! If I decide to switch, I have all of the parts ready to go! The new mount system is a brilliant idea. I am actually surprised that no one at Garmin thought of it before launching a $100 part. Anyways, I’m subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to your other videos. Your fishing is similar to the inshore fishing I do in NE Florida.
Your mount system is BRILLIANT. I just got a livescope from a neighbor, and hope to install it soon. I haven't seen any saltwater videos using it, but wondered if it could be done. That could be so useful that it is exciting to consider. SUBSCRIBED! Thanks for sharing.
I really like the simplicity of your design. I made one for myself from the other video and tried it out yesterday. Worked great. Thanks for sharing your design. So much better than all of those plastic printed versions.
I made mine today just like yours. Thank you very much for the great how to video! I'm going to try to mount mine using two one and a quarter tees. One tee mounted on the boat rail the other on my live scope pole with a piece of "all thread " and just pin them together. Maybe it'll work. Tight lines
This is awesome. I was about to start making version 1 of your mount, but I'm glad it got delayed. You should be on their mount development team 😀 Thanks for sharing your ideas.
that's the way it ought to be done. It's just the perspective mode pointer will be 90 degress off. I just use the pointer as a reference to the left side of the perspective screen instead of the middle of the screen. Thanks for sharing. Tim
ok, I made on of the first brackets and sold that boat (Pathfinder) last june. Now have a Blackjack 224 and making another Livescope DIY. I’ve looked at some of the pre-made mounting systems and thought would like to try the DIY first before investing large $s. Have couple questions though. If I wanted to run the connector up the PVC pipe it would take a 1.25” pipe to accommodate the Livescope connector. that said then would the 1.25” pipe fit inside a 1.5” PVC pipe. I haven’t tried this yet so thought I would ask. Also with my boat it has a couple of the RailBlaza bases on the gunnel so I’m going to try one of their mounting plates to see if it will hold the pipe ok even when I might be trolling. I’ve already ordered a Ram mount C size as a back up. I used that design on my previous Pathfinder. So anyway, will be mounting all this when I get back to Grand Isle, LA end of next week. Appreciate all the work you’ve done sharing your experiences and trial and errors. Thanks, Michael
Thinking the first couple of bends would have been much easier while the section of Aluminum was longer? It would have given 1 more leverage? Bend the first 2 then cut?
absolutely brilliant work mate. I made your original design but haven't got to try it out as yet. I just finished making this new one and it looks the goods. Love your work. Thanks so much
Dude. So awesome to see you upload this. I’m literally on my way out the door to pick up the shopping list from your previous video. Can’t wait to put my mount together. Thanks!
Very nice... going to return the perspective mount I just bought and go w/ this method. I've been considering being able to move my new LiveScope from boat to kayak but the "black blox" presents a challenge... do you have 2 units between your boat and kayak or are you somehow able to work around the transfer issue w/ one unit? Thanks again!
I know this vid is 4 years old but I'm assuming it would work same way with new lvs34 transducer? Is lining it up for the different modes not as complicated as the manual says? This mark has to be in this position, that mark has to be in that position for perspective, then 2 totally different mark positions for forward then another 2 for down? New to all this and just trying to figure it out
I'm a kayak angler I just got 10" ultra & going add lvs34. I'm looking at different mounts & for pricing I think I'll try building one first. I have access to aluminum at work so I just have buy pvc what size pvc are you using? Can you use any smaller or not?
What size where your PVC pipes? I went to Lowes today and the 3/4in wouldn't fit in the 1in, so I had to go 1in inside of a 1 1/4in Also, how did you get an H-rail mount to hold that PVC pipe?
I use the 1 in inside the 1 1/4 on my longer boat setup because it needed the extra rigidity. On my yak I use a 1 inch pvc outer with a 3/4 inch irrigation pipe inner. Also all the fitting are the barbed type press in that the irrigation pipes use. The pipe is sized right to slide right into the 1 inch pvc. It looks simple enough but I don't have a way to heat it etc. Curious if you would consider that. Would be a great help. Also, as you turn it repeatedly, does it now wear out the pipe and get loose? Do you keep tightening it? Thanks again . Just superb.
New subscriber, great video. I went back and watched your previous video, definitely prefer this mount to your original design. How tight are you attaching the U bracket to the transducer head? Should the foam washer be preventing the head from moving or should it be firm but not too tight for minor adjustments? Keep the videos coming.
Great demonstration! Explained perfectly! I would like to see your mount on your big boat. Thinking of buying a live scope, but it’s a bit intimidating with installation. Where is your black box located and what is your power source. Do you also have a Humminbird installed. Thanks!

Do you know what type of thred is the original bolt of the lvs32? i will replace it directly with a ram mount ball to screw in it, but can't find the info... Thanks!

Great video! One question I have is how did you figure out where the front of the transducer is when it is in perspective mode. In other words if I was looking straight at the transducer that was pointed directly at me what would I see? Thanks
I just squared of each flat element on the transducer. There are 3 that are staggered. Pretty much 90 degrees off the middle element is straight ahead. A full proof way to line it up in while in the water point it at a small pole and line it up that way

I can't. I'm freshwater guy. Question, I built my mount off your ideas of the Ram mounts. But I have lots of flex. I wonder if this is acceptable... or did I buy a rubber version that should have been metal??? Mostly coming from the piece that glues into the T fitting? Any help appreciated
@@SouthernReelsFishing I called Ram mount. I'm getting all the flex in the rubber balls. They said they don't make a metal ball. So, I'll figure something out. It's on a boat. Longer length than a kyak.
I don't think the angle is needed. The top of the transducer is flat. The angle is 8 degrees on the Garmin shaft mounts to clear the trolling motor if mounted on one. From Garmin "The trolling motor shaft bracket features an 8-degree cant to reduce the effects of the trolling motor barrel interference with the transducer beam."

I wonder if this is acceptable... or did I buy a rubber version that should have been metal??? Mostly coming from the piece that glues into the T fitting? Any help appreciated
Id be glad to help your son if I can. As far as the flex is this on a boat setup or kayak? Also what size pipe did you use?
@@SouthernReelsFishing I called Ram mount. I'm getting all the flex in the rubber balls. They said they don't make a metal ball. So, I'll figure something out. It's on a boat. Longer length than a kyak.
@@martyprice5619 Size up the ram ball system. I use size D on my setup for my boat
@@SouthernReelsFishing Using C. Turns out that a little flex was acceptable.
Thank you this
GOOD VIDEO, your shop is to organized LOL
I wish!
I ordered a after market 0 degree mount on ebay
Do you know if anyone has made these are ready for you and how much are they and I need 1 for 14 football
Boat
A 14' boat sorry for the mistake
Why and perk on the nylon nut?
Not sure what you mean?
I really like your ste up hear, can you just make me one?
I was thinking the same thing. I would just need the aluminum bar bent to attach to the pipe.
Love your video
Thanks
I don't think the angle is needed. The top of the transducer is flat. The angle is 8 degrees on the Garmin shaft mounts to clear the trolling motor if mounted on one. From Garmin "The trolling motor shaft bracket features an 8-degree cant to reduce the effects of the trolling motor barrel interference with the transducer beam."
Yeah it would probably be fine without it. But I have OCD so it bothered me lol
Nice video!!!
Thanks!
Southern Reels Fishing No problem.
