My 2024 4xe Rubicon has been incredible. I’ve driven it from Colorado to The Rubicon Trail in CA, ran the trail, drove home, no issues. Admittedly, only about 12k miles on the Jeep, but it has been great. This situation sucks, it’s going to tank my resale.

I agree. Im a gm guy but liked the gladiator so i bought a 2020 and tried stellantis. But i keep my wife inherited 84 c10 and my 71 delta 88 vert running😅. Best cars in my yard
GM did NOT replace all the Bolt batteries. They stopped the replacements in favor of a software update that will allow full use of the battery's capacity after being driven 6200 miles after the update is applied. I'd expect Stellantis to try something similar.
I bought a 2022 mode grand cherokee 4xe jeep 4 months ago. When I saw this news, I called the main Jeep manufacturer. They were not interested in what we needed to do. I am stating it here. My wife, children and relatives may die in this car. Tomorrow, I will take both the place I bought it from and the Jeep company to court. And I will file a lawsuit for compensation for causing this incident to happen to us.
Jeez, I just got my 4XE about a month ago. So far, it's been great without any problems but this is alarming. It gets parked outside anyway. No wonder we got such a great deal on it. All we can do is wait for the update and hope that takes care of it.
21 wrangler 4xe that I put 40k miles on it 1.5 yrs and plenty of trail riding. Only issue was the engine assembly that had an oil gasket that was cut. After they fixed that there has been no issues. Charge it daily . The battery however will need to be replaced as its State of Health is down to about 83%. Samsung (HV battery maker for 4xe) said 2% loss year over year. Battery and all HV components are cover for 10yr/100k miles. So it will be covered when it goes. Hopefully the new software will throw the check engine light on and I can get the battery swap. Would be nice if the new battery came with a longer range as well.
I'm the biggest jeep apologist/glazer ever but stellantis is absolutely assassinating the Chrysler lineup. They've let Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep die. All they have to do is follow Hyundais model. Bump up the warranty to build trust in their products again, and focus on some good affordable gas/hybrid vehicles.
We just dumped our 22 GC 4xE. Power train was fine.... Everything else was nothing but problems. 1.7 unscheduled service trips per month. The GC was our 9th and final Mopar. Shame on you Stellantis and Carlos Tavares. You lost a loyal customer.
Great comment. Got my wife into a ‘23 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy and she absolutely loves it over her old Explorer. 10 year powertrain warranty with a naturally aspirated 6 gives a lot of consumer faith and confidence… just over 20k miles on it and zero issues sweet ride for 55k.
I would argue that FIAT under Sergio Marchionne with his moving models around gutting Dodge and Chrysler had more to do with that assassination. Stellantis is just inheriting that mess. As for warranty, Hyundai (and Kia) actually have the reliability to back that up. Here, with Chryslers reliability reputation (lack thereof), these warranties only helps them bleed more cash.
I don't know, the Jeep brand is doing just fine. They are even selling a ton of new Grand Cherokees, despite the fact that they raised the prices substantially.
Thanks for this info guys. I have a 24’ GC 4xe and I’m freaking out because most of the Jeep dealers in Denver are awful and I know I won’t get service for a very long time. This is not what I expected buying a PHEV. It’s now parked in the street because I fear it could burn us as we sleep. Whats the point if I can’t charge? Jeep really needs to get their business together.
My 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys with a manual transmission also had a recall for the clutch overheating. Do you know how they remedied it? The dealer remove the OEM transmission skid plate. I didn't find this out until last month when I went to install an aftermarket skid plate.
The remedy should have been a new clutch, a retune of the engine to derate it a couple of HP, but the skid plate should have been there. That's what they do to the Gladiator manuals, which are absolutely terrible anyway. The automatics are more capable over that manual transmission.
Since my motorcycles get the garage, the 4Xe Grand Cherokee is usually in the driveway. Yeah, right next to the new Wrangler 392. Dealer said fix would not be available until at least the end of October. Time to go move it to the street. Thanks for the information
Can owners of those recalled Jeeps sell them back to the dealer and get something else, if they feel uneasy about driving it? The automakers need to have better quality control inspections to prevent things like this from happening in the first place.

I kept my 4xE for about two months. Couldn’t handle the constant “check engine lights” and dealership visits to clear the codes. The straw that broke the camels back was the fire risk recall. They recommended to stop charging it and to park it outside and there was no recall fix at the time. Too bad Jeep couldn’t do an agreement with Toyota to build them a quality hybrid drivetrain…
I have one a 24,had it almost a year and it is outside but i guess it needs to go further away from my house and garage,so much for saving gas,i usually only fill half tank every 2 to 3 weeks

Why didn't you just buy a gas engine Grand Cherokee instead of a hybrid version? The gas engines (especially the Pentastar) are incredible at this point. Very solid drivetrain in those Grand Cherokees.
Why do you dislike plug in hybrids? I think they're brilliant for most people. Have the battery for around town use where gas engines are inefficient and EVs make sense, have the gas engine for longer trips where EVs are dicey.

Well they’re lying about the vehicles being parked. My cousin had rented one from Hertz caught on fire. He got burned all his bodies as he was driving. He was lucky to live.
My Summit '23 4xe has had front suspension noises from day 1 going over very light bumps/road height differences. Today I found oil on my floor and went under the car and found under what could be the transmission, an entire pan greased up with a few drops of oil ready to fall down. And as I just finished making an appointment to take the car in, I find out there may now be a fire hazard? You can't make this up. I haven't received a notice about this and my app doesn't show it either. Maybe mine isn't effected by this issue? Next few days will tell....
Mine are not listed as recall both 2022 jeep grand Cherokee summit reserve 4xe … I checked the website but maybe mopar is not updated on it???? I am taking one to jeep today to check! Ugh!!!! The mileage I get in town is awesome but not worth my house burning down!
Opinion?? I am currently leasing a Wrangler "WILLYS" 4xE for the benefit of it being a plug in hybrid. If I have to stop charging the vehicle (which saves me on average 65 to 70 Dollars a week on gas) should i return it demand what ive paid for it as this issue defeats the purpose of owning or leasing such a vehicle? The prodcut does not work as advertised and as a consumer should I return it get my money back as i would any defective product??
Very disappointed - I just got my 2021 4xe Sahara back from getting a battery replaced due to the B9A recall. Now scrambling to see if the new battery they put in is part of the batteries listed in the B96 recall which lists the parts that some dealers might have in stock. I didn't like the way I was treated during the whole B9A recall fiasco, so just not sure at all how this is going to go. I had to beg the dealership to do the B9A recall twice due to their obviously doing it wrong - then when they did finally replace the battery (after the Jeep lost motive power on a freeway almost killing me) they didn't put coolant in the battery cooling system - causing another return. Obviously hybrids and plug-in hybrids 'can' work and work well - why is this such a challenge for Stelantis?
So your saying they still catch on fire even if you are not charging just using gas. And they can catch fire just sitting in garage not charging. What else is wrong with these jeeps i need to know about. Also, how does the lemon law work? Sorry a lot of questions. But Im pussed i jist got a 2022 Grand Cherokee hybrid. Ugh
Oh, my! My Wrangler was already becoming an expensive "driveway ornament" due to parts shortages for other reasons, but it sounds like this will fix it. They are telling me to park it away from structures, so I guess it will become an expensive "street curb ornament". Shoulda bought another Prius...except that my Prius can't even drive over a speedbump without damaging the underside.
Horrible vehicle, we had to go through a lengthy lemon law process in Oregon after having a GC 4xE for only 5 days, too bad, as we've enjoyed older Jeeps in the past.
I lease my 4×e hybrid Jeep 🚙 wrangler, and I've only had it a year and I've not used the option of using the electric battery so it's not even charged , since it's a lease will I be able to get off that lease and get a Jeep that is not a hybrid.
Mopar's website is terrible, it just flips my VIN search back to some basic webpage, absolutely zero information found on that website. I can't find out if my VIN on my 2024 GC 4xe is a part of this recall.
At this rate, which EV's/PHEV's don't have at least a "do not park inside" order as factory standard equipment? My niehgbor still has to park his F150 Golf Cart outside. In the Northeast. With winter on the doorstep.
I’m glad my 2016 Ram 4x4 Hemi makes no pretense toward this technology as developed by Stellantis. This is a company that apparently has a suicide pact. More concerning is their recent announcement new Wranglers will all be stick shifts when a majority of drivers don’t have a clue what a clutch pedal is, how to upshift much less downshift, and don’t want a manual. Way to foreclose on business, and that doesn’t count the overpricing beyond market allowance.
What I heard was that all Wranglers with the 3.6 V6 will be manual only. You'd have to pick one of the other engine options to get the automatic, which means you'd have to pay more for the automatic transmission while getting an engine option you probably don't want (2.0 turbo or 4XE).
@@damilolaakanni or one of the 6.4 scat pack drivetrains that were still available. The 3.6 is probably the best and most tractable engine offered, likely the one most in demand. Therefore, it defies logic why Stellantis did this. If they want to push people to the competition, they just did so.
Buy Cheep, I mean Jeep. 😂 Not good for a $50k+ vehicle. I’m sure its perfect timing with unions, and quality. Just remember, the big 3 has many parts sourced outside US. Great video guys.
I know Porsche and Tesla has cooling features for overheat. I never hear my minivan cooling while being charged but I hear porsche and Tesla fans going at it
All these 4Xe fires kinda make me wonder, what level 2 charger are they using? Are the charging with a Mopar charger, are they using some shitty Charger bought on Amazon. Are fires present with a level 1 charger? I bought a 4Xe Wrangler to use the electric side of it, and thus far it has been fine using a Mopar level 1 charger. I didn’t buy my Wrangler to have a smaller tank, and ok gas mileage. It’s kinda hard to give driving for penny’s on the dollar and not having to fill up all month, to having to go back to filling up every week. Stellantis needs to fix their bullshit!
Can't by a V6 automatic Jeep on the 2525 models. Stick shift only. How many people can drive a stick any more? Jeep will go out of business if they keep it up.
Be warned. They used a mechanical and software fix to deal with their crap manual. The software update limited power at all speeds, under 2,000 RPM. Where you need power the most, and as there is no risk to the clutch, they should give full power after reaching 7 0r 10 MPH. But they didn’t do that. Hill climbing at 40 MPH in 3rd at 3,100 RPM because a shift into 4th takes you back under 2000 RPM and cuts your power. I love my Jeep even though the parent company is incompetent in every possible way and will destroy this American icon.
It’s a dodge/Jeep problem. Their solution to avoid the epa with the ecodiesel was a software tune that made it dangerous sluggish to start so no surprises here
Will this Finally be the death of Stellantis? 154,300 vehicles recalled because they catch fire when parked? I certainly hope so - they only build Crappy Cars and Trucks for way too much money! Will they pay for rental cars for everyone no longer able to charge their cars? I hope they have to recall every single one built, and refund all the customers all of their purchase price, then crush all of those cars.
They sell you a hybrid with the elevated price but you can’t use it as a hybrid or hope it doesn’t blow up while you are asleep…lol. Never buying a Jeep product again. They let all their customers down. My ‘23 4xe Wrangler was upside down $20k+ after a year. Rolling up to other dealerships trying to trade it was a joke. The sales guy at Honda told me that as soon as they see a Wrangler roll up, they already know that people are in the hole and none of the sales guys would want to even talk to you. I ended up taking the hit and rolling my negative equity into another car and having to take a hit for the next 5 years! Jeep let us down big time!
People gotta do SOME reasearch before buying into this brand. I don't even feel bad for the ones that spent arms and a leg on one of those shit buckets.
Is there a Software Update that can Fix the USA Government? What if the Vehicle is stolen while parked outside away from your house? Will they Cover the Insurance?
While it's nice that TFL is reporting this... this channel should use its clout to question and investigate why these issues keep appearing. Both of these issues in the Jeep also appeared in 2017-2021 Pacificas and they issued the same warning. Park outside and you may lose motive power.
I have a 2024 4xe and have been very happy with it. It does not currently show as having this recall, but I’ll keep checking. Heading down to Merus in TX tomorrow, so it will be outside through next week. I guess we’ll see whether it’s subject to recall by then. If it is, I’ll take it in and get whatever needs fixing fixed. Hard to get too worked up over recalls when every car I’ve owned in the last few years has been subject to one recall or another. Obviously, this one is potentially serious, but I suspect the real risk of the event is very low (would love to know the percentage of the 5% that “may” have the defect have actually burned while being charged/stored indoors), although the impact could be catastrophic if a fire occured inside a building with people, obviously. Hoping this gets resolved shortly.
Owners: Dear Stellantis, we request you VOLUNTEER to RECALL our POS vehicles and REFUND us or VOLUNTEER to FIX THE MF problem. Seeing as how we paid for a complete usable PHEV, not a hazard carrying ICE vehicle. That is what I would write back, IF I owned one. ;)
They need to recall the hurricane engines in the new RAM trucks. So many CELs from misfires and stumbling on startup, defective thermostat assemblies, jerky shifting, and other electrical gremlins. No wonder some dealers are marking them 20k off MSRP. I've been a RAM fan for years but something is desperately wrong with the whole Stellantis situation.
Same here, doesn’t show any recall when checked.
Mine either. I check daily.
Thanks for the update
More fine engineering by the folks over there at Jeep.😂
Mine is 21 Sahara Plug in from Poland .
Is it affected ?
If yes ,
Can I disconnect the whole PH and just make it an ICE 2.0 ?
This only effects a small percentage of 4Xe's.
I heard gas catches on fire too
Was looking for one. Used ones with a few thousand miles are only $30-35k, I was wondering why so cheap 😮
Ugh
So don’t use your car as intended, it could randomly catch on fire sitting in park and off.
I don’t know how people would buy a hybrid jeep vehicle. Honestly is just a ticking time 💣.
Should have got a rav4 prime 😂 love mine
Horrible vehicle, we had to go through a lengthy lemon law process in Oregon after having a GC 4xE for only 5 days, too bad, as we've enjoyed older Jeeps in the past.
Expensive unreliable vehicles who can’t be driven cause they are a dumpster fire ? Literally
this is the 2nd announcement if this is the case because the first recall notice was sent out months ago for the same issue
Hope they can remedy this asap
Just put my VIN in and no recall listed.
I lease my 4×e hybrid Jeep 🚙 wrangler, and I've only had it a year and I've not used the option of using the electric battery so it's not even charged , since it's a lease will I be able to get off that lease and get a Jeep that is not a hybrid.
mann i hated these 4xe but now its way out of control.
Mopar's website is terrible, it just flips my VIN search back to some basic webpage, absolutely zero information found on that website. I can't find out if my VIN on my 2024 GC 4xe is a part of this recall.
This follows the same recall for Pacifica hybrids. We got that letter maybe six weeks ago.
RIP Army govs 🤣🤣🤣
My 2023 4XE isn’t on either recall site, I don’t think they’ve updated them yet
Yeah, they haven’t updated it yet. Maybe by next week you’ll see it.
No such issues with our '22 392 Wrangler. 4xe? NO, thank you!
Another wonderful Jeep product. Never ever ever buy a vehicle made by Shitlantis.
Nice haircut….
My Jeeps have been stellar. But I also haven't purchased a hybrid version. My next new vehicle will almost certainly be another Jeep.
Their was a old video here on RUclips titled: "Don't ever buy a Chrysler", now their called Stellantis, but it's still true...
How can the remedy be anything other than replacing the ev battery?
Is this the same recall from about a year ago? Or a second recall on the same or similar issue?
If you can find a 2022 grand Cherokee Trailhawk ICE motor... You're doing pretty good.
Not for 70-90k no thanks
LiFePo4 or lithium Iron Phosphate battery chemistry solves this issue. Choose battery chemistry wisely.
Thank you for info. I hv the plug in minivan
At this rate, which EV's/PHEV's don't have at least a "do not park inside" order as factory standard equipment? My niehgbor still has to park his F150 Golf Cart outside. In the Northeast. With winter on the doorstep.
does this also mean a stop-sale of 4xE's?
Chrysler doing Chrysler things. My own fault for leasing one. At least it’s not my main car.
" it could be a small issue". No kidding.
They better start cutting prices across the board!!!
Would this help a lemon law case
The 4xe does add a ton weight. 850 lbs
Buy Cheep, I mean Jeep. 😂 Not good for a $50k+ vehicle. I’m sure its perfect timing with unions, and quality. Just remember, the big 3 has many parts sourced outside US. Great video guys.
Dude I rented a GC 4xE and it was buggy as hell. Wouldn't start on multiple occasions. Stay away!
It's better to buy conventional ICE Jeep.
Their solution to avoid the epa with the ecodiesel was a software tune that made it dangerous sluggish to start so no surprises here
What a surprise 😅
Will this Finally be the death of Stellantis? 154,300 vehicles recalled because they catch fire when parked? I certainly hope so - they only build Crappy Cars and Trucks for way too much money! Will they pay for rental cars for everyone no longer able to charge their cars? I hope they have to recall every single one built, and refund all the customers all of their purchase price, then crush all of those cars.
I've never seen a company charge so much for product only for it to be carelessly put out..... Wait a minute never mind
Shocker... if you've been paying attention, you'd know anything with a lithium ion battery is a major fire hazard.
@@412fkdo some more research
@@412fk no, you're just simple
what, no Granger extended warranty ad lmao
Didn’t they shut down their battery plant?
I’ve checked my Vin on the Mopar website and it doesn’t show a recall on my 24
People gotta do SOME reasearch before buying into this brand.
100 thousand of those are probably sitting on dealer lots.
Hoping this gets resolved shortly.
lol. Who would suspect?
Just Enough Electric Pyre's
Customer support and communication is nearly non existent for customers experiencing these issues.
“So many”???, not sure about that but some to be sure
@@jonmeek3879 I almost bought one today. Started reading online and the new hurricane in RAM trucks is an absolute dumpster fire beyond belief. Not just a few complainers here and there. Enough so that I am walking from a new truck that was over 20k off MSRP! Plus I am a loyal RAM owner. It's sad what Stellantis is doing to this once strong brand, and Jeep as well.
13 failures out of 154,032 vehicles is NOT 5%, it is actually 0.008%, so something is wrong with your numbers.
Stelantis/Jeep is estimating that 5% of the vehicles out there have the defect. Not that 5% have caught on fire. Read.
Ahh. Ok. Don’t charge. Got it.
They barely figured how to make a 20 year old V6 average reliable and they jumped to Hybrid technology. What do you expect…
