The problem is simple.... the price is too high, and the quality and reliability is too low. Jeep spent the better part of the JL's life cycle nickle and dime-ing people for every single stupid option they could come up with, and now they've got caught with their pants down with better products hitting the market. I'm a LJ jeep owner, and nothing about the new products appeal to me at the price point they offer.
I dont agree with the reliability. I have had5 jeeps and the only issue I had was with a week steering box on a 2008 JK with 140k on it. Maybe im lucky I currently have a 2023 JT and love it. They are priced too high but I always wait until the end of the year and buy off the lot. Got 8k off mrsp which is where the price should be.
Had an 05 LJ and stupid me traded it in at 130k for a truck. Had an 08 JK and that 3.8 suuuuucked! Nothing but issues. It was a lemon. It was used but had really low miles. I’d like to get another jeep but there’s nothing terribly appealing about the new ones aside from new tech and other superficial things and the price point is way off. Also have a kid now and a weekend trip somewhere looks like a month’s worth of stuff packed and the 4 doors are ridiculously priced.
Generational gap crisis much like Harley Davidson. Older folk want legacy capability and younger folk want multifunction power passenger seats with app controls. Price caters to people new to the brand thinking they’re buying lux American Land Rovers. Jeep just follows the money. Wranglers are just v8 muscle cars facing the chopping block of new buyer demands, bowing to Tesla, Rivian, EV Chargers and MachE’s.
While I agree they are expensive people have had this same complaint about all the manufacturers for as long as YT comments have existed and before that it was forums. Go read ANY TFL comment section from 10 years ago and it's the same "too expensive" complaints then. Besides right now you can grab Ram's for 20K off sticker everywhere I have looked. I have seen 1500's with the Hemi for about 32. 32 for a 1/2 ton is not too expensive its just what things cost.
Got a 24 rubicon and the ac stopped working at 700 miles. Literally one week of having it and the shop kept it for about 2 weeks and the part never came. Had to get serious so they would offer me a solution and ended up returning it.
Horrendous build quality, awful reliability, 50% MSRP increases, downright predatory dealer markups, and phasing out the products their loyal fan base actually want to buy. Stellantis (and it’s dealer network) are finding out the hard way that you cannot declare war on your customers and continue to run a successful business.
I don’t agree about build quality. I drive rental cars weekly and can tell you Jeeps are on par with anything else. I owned a 2018 JL that never had issues until it was hit while parked by an uninsured motorist. We purchased another JL to replace it, this a 2024. Yes it’s expensive but the build quality is good. The 2024 has nice creature comfort upgrades lik the one touch roof and removable window panels that the others don’t have. We have let several friends drive it and all have been impressed, even giddy about how much fun it is. What Jeep needs is to defend itself against all the attacks like this that hurt its image.
Destroying them how ? I have a few ideas but I want to hear other people’s conspiracy. Only things I can think of is sharply cutting the Tesla tax credits , not forcing Chrysler to do hybrids, and trying to sale the headquarters building. What are your thoughts ?
@@Natethegreat200c The Dodge Hornet is a sales failure. The Demon with 1,025 horsepower engine has problems. Stellantis failed to control dealer mark ups. Problems with the straight 6 that replaced the hemi. Wire harness that were made short and pulling out ( UAW reported the problems) Stellantis blamed the workers. Police Durango oil cooler failures causing engine destruction.
@@markg7030 not true. Hornet sales being low doesn’t reflect stellantis much. The only thing I will say is all the hornets on the lot are 35-45k, when a nicely equipped one is only 32k. So yes I kind of blame them for building expensive versions first. I won’t comment on the rest of what you said since I know it to be true and I haven’t researched to see if any have been fixed. I haven’t heard any issues with the hurricane and you all lie on Chrysler so much, but I will definitely do owner polls and research in Facebook groups to see if anyone specifically had issues. Because you’re not the first to tell me that, but again, the lies on this brand are often parroted by many. So I’ll definitely search for the hard truth on that engine. But being that no stellantis cars have come out yet, I don’t think we can blame current product for what’s going on. All the cars they sale today besides the Fiat 500E is built using FCA parts and engines. If the 3.0 TT engine troubles are true, that would be a stellantis issue.
I used to be a jeep buyer (4 jeeps) and in the last 3+ years the pricing driven me away from Jeep. I dont think I will ever buy a jeep again. Their lack of understanding in what jeep buyers want is astonishing.
That leaves Bronco as only alternative - and I am not a fan of its horrible mess of an engine compartment and overly bulky design. But my 2016 JK is aging and I may be forced to go Ford…
It's not just the Wrangler affected by these higher prices. I bought a new Wrangler in 2016, and when my wife needed a new vehicle, the plan was to get her a new Jeep Renegade or Compass. We looked over the prices on the Jeeps online, then went over to the Hyundai and Kia dealerships and bought her a new Kia Seltos for thousands less, with better equipment and that longer warranty. As for me, I got the unlimited warranty on my Wrangler back when FCA still offered that, and I fully plan on seeing how long it will go. I'm currently at 128,000 miles with no issues yet.
A Jeep Wrangler Sport New Price is under 23k at a dealer in Oklahoma City. I checked the ad. Use this as a base to show dealers you want the same % discount off MSRP that Stanley is offering.
I have had a BAD feeling when Stellantis took over. The group is ABSOLUTELY clueless about building off-road vehicles... They have NONE. The ONLY European true off-road vehicle is the Merc. G wagen. Stellantis, will never understand the American market and will be the demise of the Jeep brand. I am very happy with my 2012 3.6 JK with the NAG1 auto. I will hold on to it, rebuild it, when needed.
Well, the problem is the French don't give the rest of the world their cool, weird, or interesting cars. As an American, I'd love to see certain Citroens, Renaults, and Peugeots rolling around over here. But unfortunately, we get none of that. Instead, they throw shitty Italian cars, with worse design, and historic names, and expect us to be happy about it. Actually, I'm starting to wonder if they realized they're bad at actual warfare, and have transitioned into psychological warfare. 😂
Another European here, and you got it right. The French are the worst, followed by the Italians (with a few known exceptions) and the English, when we talk about designing and building bad cars. Sweden used to build great cars but Saab went bankrupt (terrific cars) and Volvo is now a Chinese company. Still the cars built in Gothenburg are fantastic. Germany and Czechia/Slovakia are building the better European cars at the moment.
@drnick40 I miss Saab. Where's the weird fighter jet themed cars now that they're gone? Every car is so same same but Saab was truly different, maybe not always in a good way but they were unique at least
I don't blame cultural issues for the mismanagement of Jeep (and Ram, and Dodge...). Hiking up the prices in 2022, 2023, 2024 was a real shoot yourself in the foot thing. In other words... it was all about greed.
@@CocoNut2018 Seriously. The "hurr durr french people right?" is such a stupid line a thinking. Its just a lazy cop out from someone who cant be bothered to investigate deeper.
Nothing you said makes any sense. Chrysler is part of Stellantis precisely because they already went bankrupt and wouldn’t have survived without the Fiat merger during the Recession. Even if Stellantis does run Jeep into the ground that doesn’t mean they’re obligated to sell or spin it off. Ford nor GM wants it, and it’s not a good fit with the smaller EV automakers. Which leaves other foreign automakers you probably don’t like anyway. Tiny violin noises 🎻
I believe Chrysler would have survived with only a partnership not an ownership post the Great recession. That is past so now what? New American ownership from all the lessons learned we hope
Found myself in a Jeep dealership yesterday for work purposes. Looked around a bit while waiting for someone, I already knew the prices were outrageous but was bored. There was a 4 door Wrangler for…ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS…I didn’t know whether to laugh or scoff, guess I did both. Why wouldn’t someone be buying a G Wagon at that point? Geez
It was probably the 392 Wrangler, which is cool, but not worth $140k haha. Most places around the country you can get w 392 brand new for the 70-90 range. $140k is absolutely stupid, Raptor R prices lol
@@Natethegreat200c Because Jeep long existed before Stellantis. The same engineers worked on Jeep through various incarnations of the company. We didn't see this level of problems when the Italians bought them. But once the French moved in, it's been fail after fail.
Since my TJ days I have been in love with Jeeps. Having fun daily driving, road tripping huge distances, and of course off-roading them. I had swamp water waste deep in my Jeep, pulled the drain plugs, and kept going. I've put one of my Jeeps on it's side while off-roading, flipped it over, and drove to work on Monday. I've been high up in the Rockies and of course deep in the desert of Moab, climbing crazy obstacles. I took my last Jeep, a 2020 Gladiator off-road, but I'm really struggling with the thought of taking my 2024 Gladiator on anything worse than a gravel road... Jeeps were fun convertibles, with an iconic heritage, that could go anywhere, and that the average person could afford. Unfortunately these excessively high prices are making it unaffordable for the average person, and far too expensive to have fun with off-road without worrying about putting a scratch on it, and that is a shame.
Drop the prices. But not by $1500 in a conditional offer that requires a lease or loan. Drop the prices by 10k across the board. Then step two is improve quality across the line up. Step three is to release models and trims that people actually want, namely cheaper and simpler and more off road worthy. Then drop stupid prestige projects like the Wagoneer versions for 90k. The are no competitive to a BMW or Mercedes or Audi. The fact that the base price don't go up much for 2025 doesn't help if the prices for 2024 are way to high for what you get.
Europeans look at Jeep as a company and think they can reinvent it, push it up market and follow Land Rover's business model. That won't work in North America because nobody sees Jeep as a premium brand. The European perspective is so different than ours when it comes to Jeep and every time I see a long time jeep designer or executive retire they've been replaced with someone from Europe or someone not brought up in house and steeped in Jeep heritage.
This hands down the most accurate description of what has happened. I as an American don't even see Land Rover has having any left of its off roading pedigree anyway.
Considering all of the things Land Rover has screwed up with their offerings over the past 25 years, no one should want their offerings to be designed, built, or priced like Land Rover products. Sergio Marchionne wanted a Grand Wagoneer to take on Land Rover - look at those $100,000 dealership lot decorations!
@@TEC_Stuff I tend to agree. I stopped paying attention to Land Rover when they stopped making the original Defender. Purists kept saying they were getting too far from their roots but Land Rover kept pointing to their ever-increasing sales (at least to 2019?) and pretty much said we weren't their target market anymore. They moved up market and were selling more cars for more money enthusiasts be damned.
Bought a 2022 Gladiator with the 3.6L gas engine, brand new, thought it would be my dream Jeep. Put a bunch of money into a quality lift, wheels, tires, bed liner, and other accessories. Had an engine tick that started under 5K miles. Had to have both cam shafts and both sets of rocker arms replaced. After the repair, engine started ticking again. Had the same repair done again. Guess what? At 18K miles, the engine is ticking bad again. I can’t wait to ditch this for something more reliable. The “fun” factor just isn’t worth it.
Sounds like a clogged oil passage, or the rushy-rushy issue that burned both Hyundai-Kia and the giant Toyota. Stainless steel shot or sand casting material coming loose from hurried engine block washing prior to assembly. You need time and a lot of brushes to wash an engine block. A hole companies pump out cars at a record pace to have cash flow.
@@pgmurray76 my JK wrangler had engine block casting sand built up at the bottom of the coolant reservoir. I had Jeep flush and replace coolant even though it didn’t really affect anything… I will check my JL to see if it has the same issue
Lol maybe more than 10k because after spec’ng one it’s gonna be 75-85,000 for a 3.6 v6 4 door suv. Why on earth would I spend 80k on a basic slow v6 suv? I would not.
@@technom3598 Since inflation is a global thing being felt in over 195 countries and to be expected after another global issue that happened in 2020 (not to mention the US has one of the best inflation rates in the world right now), i think what you meant to say was "greed" being hidden behind the guise of inflation aka as "greedflation". Also, I will be voting for the one that didn't run up the highest tax deficit in US history while giving the top 1% tax breaks, thanks.
try 25%. base Wranglers should be low 30s (civic territory). space each trim about $7k-8k apart as you move up the feature ladder. Sahara are mi-upper 40s; and Rubi are low 50s. What technology in Jeeps other than 4xe is high tech?
In no way could it be that Jeep has priced out its consumers. Jeep could release a barebones Wrangler, with a 3.6L or in a perfect world the 4.0L inline-6, for sub-$25k and would sell 100k+ a year
But that’s the issue, Jeep isn’t releasing a barebones wrangler lol. The New England area is littered with Rubicons that will never get used or tested the way Rubicons are meant to be. Lower level trims are harder to come by.
Sub $25K is a reach by any standard, but at $30K they'd still have a winner. As for the 4.0 coming back....I don't think anybody is holding their breath there
As a Gladiator owner, I agree that the prices are way too high…like 15-20% inflated for what they are. I love my ‘21 JT, but to suggest they’re worth anything more than $55k is silliness…I don’t care what trim it is. Like you guys eluded to in the beginning, Jeep/Stellantis has lost touch to its American consumers. It’s a shame. Also, for the record, there isn’t any quarter-ton or half ton truck I’d pay $60k for ever. That’s F250 7.3L Godzilla money. Psycho dealers and manufacturer pricing lol
They're shoving electronics in that barely anyone wants, all of it which are added to push prices up. A small block v8 or torquey v6 would sell more than turboed 2.0.
My 2020 Silverado was $45,000 new when we got it on lease. It's sad to see base model trucks going for much more than what mine went for. As far as weight naming schemes go they should just ditch them completely. It doesn't even follow what the truck is capable of hauling anymore. A half-ton was called a half-ton because it was capable of hauling 1,000lbs. Even with the Turbo-4 in mine it says not to exceed 1,950lbs with passengers so I'm technically hauling in the old 3/4-ton segment. New "1-ton" trucks are pretty much capable of hauling 4,500lbs which is old military "Deuce-and-a-half" territory. Naming schemes don't mean jack anymore.
@@cafenightster4548 Blame the three-letter institute for a lot of the electronic bs in vehicles. They make all of the dumb smog regulations and they're the ones pushing the insane CAFE standards that require trucks to get physically bigger each year. That's why all of these automakers keep cramming smaller turbo'd engines into things and getting rid of the bigger engines.
@@Slane583 Totally agree. I really just used the x-ton verbiage to differentiate the 3 levels. They all have different purposes too, I get that. But at the end of the day, paying 60-70k for a mid-size or non-HD full size is insane. Everyone has different uses though I guess. For me, I’m building an overland vehicle, so if I’m gonna spend that kinda money on a truck, then I’m gonna have the ample space & payload that an HD truck provides. Might as well build a luxurious expedition vehicle at that price point. If I was building a Baja style truck or trail rig for day trips, then that could be a different story for sure. Also kids vs no kids in the back is a huge factor. Other than the Gladiator, midsize rear seats look useless (on videos Ive seen).
I traded my 2020 Wrangler Sport S for the 2024 Wrangler Sahara hardtop about a month ago. The 3.6L engine was the clear winner for me. The 2.0L is loud and buzzy.
The 3.6L offers smooth, linear power delivery that makes driving through difficult terrain including winter conditions easier and safer. It's proven technology.
The problem with Jeep is they are way overpriced. Then to top it off they are unreliable with poor fit and finish. At least the Wrangler has great resale value, and free rubber ducks too if you collect them.
Where is your source that jeeps are unreliable? Do you drive on the roads and look at other cars on the roads ? There are A PLETHORA of 20 year old jeeps of all models on the roads. Are we ignoring them?

Stellantis is intent on the Nissan model of keeping prices too high until you are priced into obscurity and very little resources to update their lineup.
When i was in Germany, i joined the "Hanau/American 4wheelers" a group that included chevys, jeeps, a suzuki samerai, and basically whatever anyone had. We did a lot of mudding and rallys, mostly in military training areas. We did convoy to Italy once to swim in the warm water on the coast. I had a 1976 CJ7 with a 258 six cylinder and 4 speed.
I work at a Jeep service department and I can say I have yet to see any major problems with the Wrangler 2.0 turbo. The 3.6 has been a really good engine in the last 5 years and the auto trans has also been good. I have however seen quite a few problems with the clutch assemblies on the JK and JT manual transmission.
It's almost like making the price of your cars soar, while the quality tanks, while the reliability is in the toilet, and dealers scam people left and right, leads people to choose other cars instead of your plastic fantastic broken jeeps. Stellantis is the worst thing to happen to American cars since Detroit got lazy in the 60s and 70s.

BRIT here…. Love you guys been watching TFL channels for the longest time! My son lives in SC now a US citizen… he has had his Gladiator 2 years and it’s great… rugged, flexible, comfy…. Easy to “mod” …. A PHEV. In Europe would sell hugely.. Stelantis needs to bring that here to break into the truck market… Seems the European leaders are applying what they know works in EUROPE to USA … but it’s a different culture and market… like trying to get the French to give up wine and escargot for lentils and tap water… will never work. New incarnation of the 2/4 door Wrangler is what it needs and more realistic pricing
I think dude is right. In about 10-15 years we're going to look back fondly on the 3.6 pentastar. It's reliable, easy to work on, easy to get parts for, and gives just enough torque/HP to get the job done. I love the fun from the 2.0 turbo in my daughter's Wrangler but it's kinda a nightmare to work on and the 3.6 in my Gladiator has given me no headaches.
Jeep’s are a simple recipe: 2 solid axles, selectable 4H and 4L, removable top and doors, and a shape that resembles a child’s drawing, . Either keep the 3.6 or bring back the 4.0, nothing less. Innovation with 4xE is neat but eh. Push the base level and Sahara trims to keep it marketable as affordable and capable. I see so many rubicons on the road in New England that will never be used even to its minimum potential. Love the rubicons and used all the switches and buttons when wheeling it but most people don’t wheel their jeeps or they consider driving down a dirt road in VT/NH/ME on a weekend trip wheeling because they got some mud on the side of their jeep. Jeeps have become so overpriced, and in the New England area, everyone seems to want a rubicon because it’s got all the buttons and switches that they will never use. Sell what sells but they’re really missing the market share of selling more vehicles at a good price. They should be marketing the hell out of lower trim levels where the simplistic nature of the Jeep makes the most money and sense to everyday people who don’t wheel and want something that can handle snow, inclement weather, be fun to drive to the beach or handle mud season in the northern New England states.
They make more money selling a handful of very expensive jeeps at high mark-up than selling 10 times more basic jeeps just barely above the margins; they are following the profit, and cheap vehicle buyers are no longer the target audience.
The 4.0 was killed because it was too good. No one buys new Jeeps if the old ones never die. I'm closing in in 400k miles on mine. Starts right up every day. Still doesn't burn oil...Just change that oil and don't skimp on the sensors.
I'm actually looking for a base gladiator in New England but all the lots are stuffed with overpriced Mojave and rubicons that I will never have a use for. The price is dropping on them but still, I'm not going to buy something I don't need and will most likely cost me more in the long term with added costs for repairs and maintenance.
My wife got a JLR and we have no idea what the buttons do. Heck we did not even know the thing was a rwd and not a smart awd. One day when it depreciated a lot we will take it off road.

I'm a huge Jeep guy. I own 6 currently (some older) and offroad all the time. Our 202 JL has spent more than a year in the shop with transmission, BCM and galvanic corrosion problems and it only has 14k miles. I purchased a 2020 RAM Power Wagon and it was the worst truck I had ever owned. Sold it after one year. My wife purchased a 2023 Grand Cherokee and it also spent more than half of the 18 months we owned it in the shop (it would blow scalding hot air constantly). Stellantis was the worst thing to happen to these American brands. On our JK, 145k miles and have only replaced the oil cooler, our LJ, 120k miles and it has been perfect. It's not just the quality, it's also their dealer experience. The service departments have so much turnover and are months out, besides being quite rude. For my wife, we went back to Lexus. Their quality and service are amazing. I would suggest Stellantis take a "Team Building" trip to Lexus and learn a few things about running a customer facing business.
Man. You were just hoping? That's a lot of self induced torture. Thank god you came back to your sense and went with Lexus. You are correct on that one. 👏🏼
Stop with the hybrid and electric crap. And bring the cost down and remove the useless unreliable tech. Problem solved. They should make me the CEO. I just saved the brand.
Please keep speaking up TFL. As a current Wrangler owner, it’s sad to see the downward spiral of this brand. I will be trading my Jeep in for a GM truck next year as they’re an American brand who still understand what the American people want (outside of their EV failures which every brand is terrible at other than Tesla who still offers an “affordable” product). Which is ironic that a brand (Jeep) that technically served this country in war is no longer viewed as being an American brand, cause it’s not. We’ve got enough money in this country, pleaseeee will a few billionaires get together and purchase Jeep, Ram, and dodge and put them back in the hand of American car/truck enthusiasts
Are American high car prices creating an environment ripe for the low cost Chinese cars to come in and essentially take over - similar to Japanese cars in the 70's and 80's?
yes - this is why there are tarrifs in place and they are talking about banning all Chinese made car parts... if BYD entered the market here without restrictions - they would totally mop up the floor with the offerings here (including the Japanese offerings)
The reason why there's not so much off road where I live: illegal to camp outside of camping parks 1l gas is 1,70-1,80€ wrangler sahara starting at 85k€ only avaiable in 4xe and bronco outer banks starts at 130k€ You either get old nissan terrano, discovery, patrol y61 or you might as well just save money and go to a resort
I never go off road with my vehicles but just getting up and down the steep, very bumpy and often washed out two miles of private gravel road to get to my house especially in the winter requires a good four wheel drive vehicle and off road tires. Not every American lives in the city or suburbs.
Interesting show. I factory ordered a 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk with the 3.2 Pentastar and it has been rock solid, powerful, responsive, easy to maintain, and just one awesome power plant! I love it!! Great vehicle as well, but the suspension is obviously not designed to be used in any way other than gingerly when off road. Still, it's a solid vehicle and one of the best I've owned. The Trailhawk, towing, and leather options make it a seriously excellent machine.
My wife has a 2016 (138,000km) she loves it still. It’s only been in for a reflash as we had some infotainment issues. It’s been a great vehicle, we got lucky. But we won’t be paying $57,000 ($CAD) for a new one

My only hope would be an Overland with about 10K off.
My last experience with the Wrangler was going from the YJ to the TJ. Driving the YJ, I had plenty of room. Driving the TJ, my shins would hit the dashboard, not something I recall happening in any other car I've driven. My interest in the Wrangler has diminished quite a bit since discovering that.
Under the guise of inflation they have price gouged their customers and have made record profits. There should never again be any brand loyalty. They tried to go up market and shouldn’t have. Jeep owners, and even the folks who they tried to attract to the Jeep brand, didn’t think of Jeep as making something that can compare to the Escalade or Navigator. The JL Wrangler has been improved significantly, so I'm hearing from a couple that just purchased one. They said it rides noticeably better on the street, it's quieter and it handles better. They also think it's better built, for example the rear hatch is tighter. It makes me think that upgrading my '21 Sport S when the lease is up makes good sense.
When I purchased my 2024 Wrangler Rubicon X manual I was told that just 3% of new Wranglers are allocated with the manual transmission. I wanted a Rubicon X with Sky One Touch and a manual transmission...just a month ago I could only find 60 nationwide. You can't get the Recon package on manual transmissions...or I couldn't find any. Save the manuals!
@@JohnUrbanic-m3q Okay...Here're a couple of examples...If you wanted the Diesel, ( when it was available), you could only get the 4 door automatic...In 2024, if you wanted matching roof and fender paint, you could only get that in the 'Recon' edition with the 36 X 12.5" wheels, with the "Auto" transfer case, (with pucks)...I wanted the older, chain driven transfer case, so I had to opt for a straight Rubicon, without the matching paint and do the other mods myself...
Demand. That’s the reason for the limitations. They still have 23’s and a huge supply of 24’s they can’t sell. So to manufacture a full range of 25’s and filling already packed lots can’t happen. This is the fallout of insane pricing and absolute greed that is pricing people out of their vehicles. If stock ever goes down, option choices will open back up.
My Dad bought a Jeep in the last years of AMC ownership. It was a tool, no AC, vinyl seats, no radio. Just 4WD and a bombproof straight 6. It was affordable, relatively reliable and great for causing swamp @$$ in the summer. It did its job well and had 140,000 miles on it when we traded it in whith no major issues. Bring that back!
I had a 2013 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited- the 3.6 auto combo, but at 156,000 I looked to upgrade on a 24. The pricing was outrageous for me to "buy what i already had" I didn't want the small turbo. I went back to a 4x4 Silverado and while i miss the wave, I've moved on, and the Gladiator wasn't the answer either.
Gladiator is way too expensive for its lack of capability. It’s also ugly until it’s lifted, which is even more cost. I’d rather buy a full sized Chevy or ford 1/2 ton. More capability and a cheaper cost for a bigger/nicer vehicle. 4xe isn’t appealing to me. The extra complexity and weight of 4xe isn’t worth it for off roading.
You are honestly right on that but Gladiator has to be the most badass vehicle modded, like the kinds of crazy zombie apocalypse mods and overlander mods look dope!
Just admit, you desire one badly. Don't speak for all of us, love my Gladiator Rubicon. Stock it can go everywhere at any time. Can't say the same for other bands without spending massive amounts of money.
@@bradj9870 About .0002% of trucks will ever be driven on the Rubicon trail, so for the other 99.9998% of buyers, yes your standard half ton has a lot more capability.
I'm from Costa Rica, and I LOVE the jeep gladiator, is such a cool looking rig when setup right, but it fetches a HIGH price here, going for around 85.000$ used, I think only people with lots of money have them and don't see them around enough cause of it, so yeah, they are basically out of range for enthusiasts like me. For that money over here you could get a lot of other solid cars!
Why would they decide to discontinue the automatic transmission on the 3.6 V6? Bad decision, IMO. Many Americans want an automatic transmission, but they don't want it paired with a turbocharged engine.
Probably to help with CAFE numbers and to justify discontinuing it for the JM Wrangler. They know everyone will buy an automatic, which puts them in the 2.0, which gets slightly better EPA fuel economy numbers, and superior emissions numbers. The 3.6 will have low sales because it's manual only, most wranglers sold will be the 2.0 which will help Stellantis' corporate numbers, and they can quietly discontinue the 3.6 in a few years
I really wanted a manual trans. Bought a JK rubi a bunch of years ago with a six speed. I’ve since discovered there is essentially no off road scenario where a manual is superior to an auto. Sand, mud, hills, etc; the auto trans is superior in almost every scenario. I do suspect the manual trans lasts longer than an auto and likely gets slightly better fuel economy.
Roman, great vid. I absolutely agree about the path Stellantis is taking. Coming from a guy that has a 22 Bronco, but wife has 22 Grand Cherokee L and son has a JL wrangler.
Bought a base 2022 Wrangler new, two door with hard top, auto trans and 3.6 engine for under $40k and after 20 k miles it is still running like a champ.
I looked at the gladiator many times and the price was always too high to justify. I really don’t think I will ever get a Stellantis product. Especially with all the Chinese EV’s they are now pushing in Europe and the layoffs in Michigan. It doesn’t sit well with me personally
Thought the same thing about a gladiator. Most gladiators in my area are only a grand or two off from a mid - high level trim 1500/150 and even 2500/250 full size trucks. Bed in the Gladiator wouldn’t be as useful if I need it versus a full size truck and a full size truck can do as much or more than a gladiator. Cost to value just points me at buying a truck over the gladiator that has the “utility” of a truck bed. Would rather just buy a regular jeep than have the false promise of a utility bed.
GM makes sense. Ford has the Bronco and GM doesn't have an apples to apples comparison. Would be interesting to see if they keep the Gladiator if this does happen
People who buy Jeeps want a basic, fun and most importantly a cheap ride. Not a luxury vehicle.. Throw away the turbos and 50k price tags. Make Jeep Wranglers Affordable again.
I bought a new Jeep in 2023. Within 2000 miles the drag link gave out with no off-roading. Dealership told me to find a ride and they would get it back to me within a few weeks. I told them my ride would be a 4Runner and they didn’t have to worry about it. I now had over 40k on my 4Runner and have had zero issues.
Take an iconic American brand that sold fairly priced durable off roaders. Change everything about it other than some cosmetics and Jack the price sky high. Then wonder why it fails.
Have made the necessary adjustments to my Jeep to change it from being gutless to a off road monster .. Have a 2015 Rubicon AEV JKU .. Wranglers are gutless when properly equipped .. Mine reached 88,000 miles and was blowing oil .. I decided that instead of buying another gutless JKU, I decided to spend the money to rebuild mine which is the platform I love .. I went w/ a 6.4 hemi swap thru AMW 4x4 at Northridge 4x4 .. My Jeep is now a 6.4 hemi w/ over 550 hp and an 8 spd tranny .. I added Currie axles D60 rear and D44 front w/ 4.56 gears .. I included Adams drive shafts and heavy duty Steer-smarts tie rods, drag link and track bar & sway bar .. I also went w/ a Hellwig rear sway bar and big brakes to handle the weight of the hemi .. My Jeep Rubicon, AEV, AMW 4x4 hybrid is now a unstoppable beast and handles great both on and off-road ..
I think it's technically a downgrade getting rid of the manual windows and locks. The Chrysler products all have electrical issues....windows always work if they aren't power.
Disagree. I live in New England and I drive mine around everywhere with the top down and tube doors on as much as humanly possible to experience the outdoors more. It's not a road trip vehicle, it's a lifestyle and quality of life vehicle.
This may be true but some people like me just like to know that we have the capability if we ever need or want it. Also ya never know when the mood will strike to take an offroad adventure and if that does strike then ya know you have the ability.
Not in Arizona. Even on the most remote trails you run into fellow Jeep owners. Even the non-off-road types end up on the nearby trail systems eventually.
Being the owner of a Chevy volt, and a Grand Cherokee WK2, we looked at getting back into a wrangler with the 4xe. We finally found a dealership that had one charged (was the sales managers personal vehicle, but let us try it) That thing severely missed the mark. Our Volt for example only turns on the engine when the battery cannot provide power, The wrangler on the otherhand caught us off guard when we left a traffic light and I slowly kept giving it more throttle pedal. At around 50-60% pedal the little 2.0 Slammed on, basically to redline screaming (audibly not performance wise) all the way up to the speed limit where it then went back down to idle for the next few minutes of driving at highway speeds, then shut off. The transition was terrible and you could feel the engine and motor come into sync with the transmission to still provide the same weak acceleration you get out of the pentastar. This 4xe was fully charged so it was not changing due to low battery, and the acceleration I was attempting was to simply keep up with traffic, not racing or testing max performance. I don't mind the engine starting, but it basically slamming on from zero and immediately going to almost redline is the same issues ESS is having with the engine being requested to perform from off. I really hope that the ramcharger does not use the same design of power management.

The problem is simple.... the price is too high, and the quality and reliability is too low.

But all the others are doing the same. Needs to be a 3 month boycott on anyone buying anything and the prices will drop like crazy.

Which is ironic that a brand (Jeep) that technically served this country in war is no longer viewed as being an American brand, cause it’s not. 2018 Grand Cherokee Summit owner here. They have totally priced me out the market. They are looking for 70K+ for a new one. Almost 20K+ than the MSRP of my car. While I understand that costs go up but by almost 40%? And we are still seeing dealers add dealer markup. Hence, the cars are staying on the lots for longer.
I bought a Gladiator Rubicon Diesel in 2022 well below MSRP. I felt like I got a good deal after extensive comparison. I’ve driven it all over the country on and off road. I’ve had zero issues with it, it’s very solid, and I love it. That being said, I would not even consider buying any Wrangler or Gladiator today considering the prices and what’s being offered.
I have an 09 jk 2 door. It’s a tank. It just keeps going and never breaks. My buddy has a 22 jl 4 door. He is constantly having problems with it. Headlights won’t work. One of the window motors went out. Clutch overheats easily. Traction control has problems half of the time. Mostly electrical gremlins that I never deal with.
They tried to go up market and shouldn’t have. Jeep owners, and even the folks who they tried to attract to the Jeep brand, didn’t think of Jeep as making something that can compare to the Escalade or Navigator.
Any news on the dodge family being interested in buying back the company?
There's been a rumor going around that GM might be interested in Jeep, if Stellantis will sell it ala carte.

Not so in Idaho
The vehicles are far too expensive now.
Yes I've loved replacing 1000s of oil coolers 🙄
