its easy to pick the graphics apart when your flying low and that would be a criticism for the average gamer for sure, the thing is... this isnt a map created for call of duty, its a map of the world, in full and when you consider that fine point its absolutely amazing, every journey will be unique, you will discover things like Christopher Columbus but in the air and thats awesome. its very easy to forgive slightly iffy looking textures on the ground in a flying simulator with this scope thats for sure.

Yeah same here, I saw it in another video and there was no splash or wake of any kind and it looked like it was on flat ground. Pretty disappointing. Maybe it will be fixed before release because I am looking forward to realistic float flying since it has never been good in fsx/p3d and x-plane.

Before this Flight Simulator, if you wanted anything even remotely close to this level of detail at water/ground level you would need to download dozens of gigabytes of hand-crafted, sometimes user-created content. The fact that this game is able to replicate the entire planet and fill in so many of it's details using AI is unbelievably impressive, and it's only going to improve over time as the devs refine the AI and handcraft even more cities/airports.
In the future, I expect more and more of this simulator will rely on data sent from the cloud, as internet speeds/connection quality improves over the years we'll start to see even more detail added in. I still can't believe how good it already is at launch.

Free, third-party map packs are now available that include high-resolution versions of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

I wonder if there's going to be a properly modeled Sydney bridge in the final release? The Sydney bridge in this video looks awful.

Should be, Sydney is listed as manually modelled.

Level of detail is astonishing. I was JUST THERE before lockdown (nearly didn't make it back to the UK as flying through Singapore which was a high-risk country at the time). I spent a lot of time on that waterfront and it's just insanity to see it 1:1 in a flight sim. There's a very overpriced, but very lovely bar to sit in under the opera house that you can see in your beauty shots at 21:30... I can point out a bar.... In a flight sim...

Thank you for sharing this video of Sydney, and although it needs a little fine tuning, there is one thing I've noticed with MFS2020, and that is the trees are too big in some places. The trees around the Sydney harbour foreshore are way too big.

Yeah... and apart from the Opera House this looks nothing like Circular Quay

@@Sisu2280 I wouldn't go as far to say it looks 'nothing' like circular quay but it needs some tuning with things like the Harbour Bridge, center point, trees and island placement...

The real ICON RUclips channel has a tutorial how to land this thing. I watched that and I can land this perfectly every time. A lot of times I would have touched down on the water without knowing it because the VS at touch down was like -10. Perfection. Trim your nose all the way up and keep RPM around 3000 RPM full flaps, you get exactly white line AoA every time

Thought about doing the bridge climb when I visited there. Looking at it now, it looks like it is more of a walk than a climb.
Would be nice if it showed the splashing that comes with flying that.
