I am an airline pilot who flies the 787. I have to say this is very realistic. Some of the "inop" items are a bit surprising but for a flight sim it doesn't really matter much. In real life , of course, there are about 400 things that need to be done from power-up to take-off - he does about 10 of them! Many of these "real world" things can safely be ignored in the "sim" world - initiating the ACARS, verifying the C-of-G and trim, making sure the oil levels are acceptable for flight, etc.
One thing I noticed is that the inertia modeling seems way off. There is no way you could intercept the glideslope at 225 knots and slow down without full speedbrakes all the way down. Even with full speedbrakes it's unlikely you'd make the landing. Maybe that's not completely true as I didn't catch what weight the aircraft was programmed at - a very light aircraft might make the landing with 1/2 speedbrake. Essentially you must be at 190-200 knots with at least flap 5 upon G/S intercept and even then you might be using the speedbrake . Take-offs without an accurate trim setting are a really bad idea - lead to tailstrikes, which are multi-million dollar mistakes. Landings in the real aircraft are much more difficult than is shown in this video - mistakes are very expensive.
In the real aircraft we use the LNAV, VNAV and HUD on every take-off. There are very good reasons for doing this - all of which involve real-world IFR procedures - the sim does not care if you deviate from protected IFR airspace while real controllers care A LOT.
Anyway, looks pretty good - graphics are amazing.

I fly the 78 as well and as jet lagged as I am now and quite happy to not fly for a few days, I really want to try this sim! I did cringe though at things like arming speed brakes for take off. That kind of thing makes me want to contribute as well, but it's bad enough I came out as being a pilot here. Not really an AW much. Who do you fly for?

Ailerons and flaperons on the 787 are much like the F-22 Raptor control surfaces. An insane amount of engineering went into designing and developing the use of the ailerons, flaperons, and speed breaks all at once. I won't dive in too deep about the exact physics but for anyone who is wondering; the reason the raptor, 787, etc use all the surfaces at once is to reduce adverse yaw and to keep the aircraft coordinated at all attitudes during all phases of flight. The fly-by-wire controls are absolutely nuts and is truly and engineering marvel.

Things like the simplest way to get from point A to point B (airport to airport) using the navigation equipment; basics of using the autopilot; basics of flying and landing. That sort of thing. Not super in-depth, but just enough to get someone like me with little exp (last time I played Microsoft FSX was YEARS ago at this point) to be able to takeoff from an airport, have a destination in mind, and be able to navigate there and land successfully. Doesn't even need to be on a large aircraft like this, even instructions for a smaller prop plane would be awesome. Maybe there is already someone doing that on youtube, but I feel like you would do a great job at explaining a "crash course" (pun intended) of flying in this new sim. @yoof01 4 года назад

Turning the knob isn’t really how it’s done in the real world - just to be clear, I have 5000hrs 737 and 4000hrs 777, I’ve not flown the 787 but Boeing’s tend to be similar and the 777 rating is valid for 787 with a short conversion so they’re deemed to be very similar. The only time I’ve disconnected via the knob is when landing with MAX set, it can be difficult to override, and as soon as stopping is assured, it’s a nice technique to reduce to another setting during decel, increasing passenger comfort and finessing the operation, so there’s a few options. If you put the speed brake lever down with zero toe brakes then yes, it will feel like a lunge forward as braking goes to zero. Have some pressure on the toe brakes and it’s not a problem, or, as we mostly do in the real aircraft squeeze gently until it disconnects then ease off gently and keep it rolling. Generally by 60kts we want to have more control but depending how the roll out is going, judge it yourself.

So the ailerons, you have a high-speed (inboard, kind of behind the pylon) and a low-speed (outboard) aileron. Also, the reason for the asymmetrical deflection up and down is that it the "up" deflection is more effective at dropping the wing than the "down" deflection is at raising it.
This is more pronounced in the video because the high-speed aileron on the 787 is actually a flaperon (combination flap and aileron) and you have the flaps deployed, which further limits upward deflection.
Some wide-body aircraft (like the A300/A310 family) only have an inboard "all-speed aileron" and just have flaps and spoilers outboard.

4:25 You shouldn't put an arrival in before you get airborne in the 787. If you had a really short flight then you could put it in Route 2.

If an approach is loaded before departure, be alert for unexpected or unwanted autopilot modes and flight director indications if a TO/GA switch is pushed after takeoff.

Look at the zibo tho, that's free and all the hard work was done to get that fairly well done and complete

Only the fuel page works, no tablet, can't even use the air con (which would literally just involve programming the visual button switch and the the display. Let's not forget you have to pay an extra £60 to get this Aircraft! MK's is half the price and way more functional and it's not even finished yet. lazy Microsoft, if your going to charge a premium price then i expect a premium product!

RTO or rejected takeoff mode is set before takeoff roll. This is normal SOP when setting the airplane up for departure. It should automatically disengage itself 400 feet or so above the ground.
