Hey man I got to say I'm 61 years old and I lived that lifestyle you're living right now for 40 years and I loved it now I'm a little too old and beat up to do it now but I sure live it vicariously through your videos I appreciate it and another little thing enjoy it while you can cuz it'll be all gone before you know it and for some reason the older you get the faster it goes enjoy life and be safe
You’re videos are awesome man. As a bigger guy that lives in the city and never experiences things like you do I’m glad you bring us along with you. Keep up the great videos! 👍🏼
That was funny, uninhibited is you, the island is uninhabited. I would be scared alone out there in a hammock. No hammock so no worries and a nice size breakfast trout. That water looked so clear, and cool. These videos are great as long as you are safe. Do more and we'll watch. Peace.
this content is really getting me more inclined towards solo camping, i used to think that solo would be way to lonely, but seeing as you get to do whatever you want without the okay of the second party your treking with, doesn't seem so bad
I say "Go For It". I'm a Senior Citizen and have ALWAYS been a very independent person. I love my me-time to refuel and center myself. Married 35+ years and unless my husband has a really EXCELLENT REASON to question my "me-time" he knows to be 💯 % supportive. I swear, if I was younger I'd do an AT Flip-Flop Thru Hike (no joke). So GO FOR YOUR ME-TIME. When you get old it's not what you ALREADY DID, it's what you DIDN'T DO🤔 that can haunt you💪👍.
I solo camp frequently, and I would say at least try it once for a night. Make sure to plan something to do, fishing, hunting or even hiking. Can be VERY good way to clear your head and re focus
Bro, you gotta leave your running lights on if you're gonna sleep on a bass boat anchored that for from shore. Also you should still rope off to something stationary when you beach, the hull will dislodge from the lapping waves and you'll be chasing her. Stay safe, that lake turns on a dime as well. Enjoy the channel. Cheers.
No running lights needed when anchored, but he needed an anchor light since it is required by the Coast Guard regs. I sail the Apostles and it drives me crazy when I see un-light fishing boats anchored, even close to shore. No lights is a good way to get hit by another boat, even close to shore.
Decisive, determined, organizer, planner, adventurous, optimist, realist, intelligent, innovative get back upper. Yep. These are just a few adjectives to describe Mav.
Tapez. Well it does a couple of things its allows for better casting, less friction as the line is running. As well as if you are a saltwater fisher you should be pouring water after you fish as well.
I've been solo camping out of my car/tent since the end of June. Your video's have been a huge influence on my choice. Stay safe, be positive and keep living the good life!
Mav thank you bro you are a game changer I’ve been going through a lot lately and iam father and I think weekend truck camping would be a good way to reset and help battle depression. Keep Going your gonna be big!
I love your content Man so genuine and it doesn't feel forced. I could be wrong but I love seeing your videos they bring me a lot of joy and I love seeing new parts of the outdoors.
Awesome vid! Thanks for sharing with us. A good way to anchor your boat near the shore is to drop a bow anchor 20yrds from shore, back towards the beach and tie a stern line to a beach anchor or tree. Keeps your bow into the wake and your hull off the shore.
Loved this one, fellow Wisconsin guy here, we fish the bay of Green Bay for walleyes. Set the hook one time and then sometimes we will reel them in for 20 minutes. Gotta be patient with the big ones.
This type of video was awesome and even better because you cooked for us. I love how you always trial and error things to figure out what works. "Mav's not perfect people just adventurous, which is even better"!!
I think this is my favorite video of yours! I love your adventures Mav! Maybe show us more fishing or/and hunting? Like myself I never really got into those type of hobbies but you make them look so chill and worth looking into. Especially fishing, I would love a tutorial or a beginners guide to something like that. Anyways, keep on trucking!
So awesome! That lake setting is beautiful. Every time I was watch your videos no matter where you are, it's like I'm right there with you. At least for a little bit. Thank you, keep on trucking!
Awesome video. Simplicity at its best. That night sky, fish for breakfast and dip in the lake all looked wonderful. Also the night aboard your boat looked so relaxing.
Incredibly similar to my build! 😂 only my mattress is on top of the kitchen and *WAY* more thought was gone into efficient space making. I can’t wait to do a second build for me, eventually! All the tools you used - genius.
I love the catch/hunt and Cooks 💜 those are my favorite 😁 it doesn't matter what vehicle you're in👍 but I got to admit sleeping in the boat was interesting 🥰
Just about to turn 60 myself and I do admire your spirit of adventure. Subbed and plan on watching all your vids in the next few days. Keep em coming. Cheers !
When anchoring. Especially overnight put all your anchor rope out. It’s also really good to have a length of chain half the length of your boat. The more rope to depth will hold better.
Also, an anchor alarm is always a good idea. Don't want to be drifting into shore as you're sleeping. even with no service they will work off of GPS signal
I love the configuration of your boat. The side console is best for salmon fishing because you get more room to spread the rods and freedom to move quickly back and forth. It's exactly the way I'd order mine.
Great vid the Apostle islands are so awesome, lots of islands /caves to explore, didn't notice, important to mention ,you should have a nav light on after dark to prevent another boat from destroying you, the other guy might dangerously think the same thing that hes the only boat around
Honestly think I’ve watched trough every one of your videos now, love all the different activities the ice fishing is my favourite but it’s great to get a mix of different things! Keep it up man!
Being in the middle of England, I've never been out on a lake. The thought of all that empty space under me scares me (I'm 62) with what could come up. Mav. Do you Believe in Bigfoot? Any stories? A Bigfoot hunt with a friend would get you massive views. You're in the biggest sighting place.
Hey Mav! Hang your buckets off the bow with enough line so the buckets are about mid ship when trolling. This way they don’t get in the way of netting fish. Tight lines!
First of all: Thanks for taking us with u on your adventures. I really appreciate it. I recently published a couple of my first catch and cooks and I would also appreciate anyone who pays me a visit and decide for him/her if its enjoyable :). I came to start this idea basically through any other catch and cook ytubers. So thanks for the inspiration Mav. Sending greetings from northern Germany to you and stay healthy everyone.
Next, time before you go out, check the NOAA GLERL Lake Superior wave forcast. Usually accurate. The swell and wind don't always correlate like they would on small inland lakes. Also, that anchor will stick better if you let out some lead (chain) + 3x the length of rope as the depth (36 feet in your 12 fow).
I really like the videos that involve Lake Superior. My brother and I traveled up to the UP of Michigan a couple years ago and fell in love with it. We live next to Lake Erie so now it seems like a drop in the bucket comparatively.

When mav said “goodnight everybody” I legitimately was so involved in the video that I said goodnight back
My husband came in the room to see why I was laughing so hard.

I don’t think he’s a “pro”.
Pour a bottle of water on you line before you start!
