I like how we have brushless motors now. They go as fast as some the petroleum. But its alot safer having it brushless motor. Specially like I used to live at low income apartments in winterport Maine and I couldn't have anything with gas inside the apartments.. . Like your truck...
@@TomleyRC On my FG I had a killerbee killswitch on, put it on the third channel which got engaged when the battery gets low, I pushed the button or when the signal got low so I could kill the engine from a distance. Excellent work! Takes me back to when I used to watch truck racing on Eurosport in the 90's. Was insane stuff. FG is an old german brand, so Jägermeister livery on an 80's Mercedes Benz truck body all bodes very well😊 Awesome vid!
Wow!! What a weapon!! I loved the truck racing in the 80's and 90's, when Steve Parrish was racing!! Some sticky racing slicks on that, and you'd have a wicked RC race series!! 👍🏻
Hi Tomley . great truck , as an old driver , makes me want one , on my adventure with RC's . I just wish I had that sort of money. Anyway have a great day. Sorry still no coffee.
Before you spend the cookies on rubber. What if you replace some of the weight over the rear axle? I would doubt that it is that loose with the gas/petrol engine. Bada$$ video though Tomley, as always!
maybe some more steering angle and/or toe out to help it not spin out so easy. RWD drift setup is kinda finicky, one tooth smaller pinion for sure and 4S might be enough power + wheel speed for good drifting, its geared kinda tall.
Holy crap that is a bad ass rig! I had gas/nitro rc's in the past and fully understand why you did the conversion, lol. My friend has the primal rc raminator and is working on doing a dual brushless conversion. I see alot of burn up motors in his future being those things weigh a ton 😄
@@TomleyRC I think so to,well if he can get it to work, lol. I think after removing the gas motor from the truck it still weighed about 65-70 pounds. I don't know much about about brushless motors but that is alot of weight to bash around, lol. All I know is before he took on this challenge and took it apart, man was the truck was fun as hell to drive, lol.
Looks like you got an amazing deal man and yeah I definitely agree going brushless is much much better as like you've said for practical use you wanna run electronics unless you've got a dedicated place to drive with motors as you'll likely just receive a lot of complaints .. it would just kill the fun

@@TomleyRC just promise you will rig up the rear brakes...would make a great park racer truck, as long as it is Donnington Park :-) 2 words Paris-Dakar.
Hi, I think some of the grip problem is down to a lack of weight? Along with the cold and wet tarmac, I think the best tyre would be "wets" I.E. treaded you'd get more control and when it's warmer they'd overheat and then you could slide them easier. Also have thought about asking Claire's RC'S if Ian would be interested in the engine?. Love this project!! I did think it was a "banggood" special until I spotted the FG logo. Steve. UK.
I would of place esc in different area. And make lipo batteries on the aluminum frame where the esc is and place where u have esc is now. But back further for weight on the back more.. that's what I would of done to it. And yes on different tires on those rims.. kool truck thou..!!! Like it..
Well just GREAT. As a retired HGV1 driver & into rc tanks and now converting a Scania-R 6x4 to rc. When do you get the time to chill out. Many thanks for good work / videos. Pete
I like that function of using front brakes, while rear spins like in drag cars 👍. I would definitely make a scale interior, and put a scale driver then fix those damage cracks somehow and repaint it royal blue 👍. Is that a Lexan or hard body ?
Awesome work, dude! Nicely done!!! 😃 But, hey... Drifting rc stuff are like that, really. And the tires need to be plasticky, people even make them from PVC pipes! 😂 Anyway, happy holidays! And stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Nice truck that and what a bargain ! I can see why you have gone electric but Imo it should be petrol 🤣😌. Still cool doe ☺️ New rubber on it at it will be a monster
Is rc scale relevant to the size of the actual vehicle or just generalised? I would like to have seen a speed run with the real engine before the conversation for comparison.
Since you took the engine off it lightened it up so you might want to put some weight on the rear end to compensate for that and it will act better when you steer it it might keep it from spinning out so easy but cool build I just wish you would have ran it with the motor one time so we could see how it went

Yes, you wouldn’t want this running away on you land hitting someone or something!
I rather see a gas fire than a LiPo fire to be honest, the gas fires are more easy to put out and less intensive.
