It's a neat old car. As you said getting running was a big positive. Replacing the servos will be a lot of work. Considering their age it's not surprising they would fail. I am looking forward to future adventures with this vintage car.
So good to see you put oil in the cylinder before running. No one is doing it and its so important if it has been sitting for years :) Thanks for sharing.
I was a car mechanic for a bit after leaving school… so have rebuilt the odd engine here n there. Certainly important for an engine that’s not been run in a long time
Id run it on 3 servos. 1 for throttle 1 of breaks 1 for steering. Sounds more complicated but its actually not. It gets rid of alot of linkages and deletes the throttle cable.
I don't know much about them as a brand but I DO remember 1/4 scale R/C gas vehicles were $2500 to $3500 CDN in the late 80's early 90's. Yes, first thing I would have done is replace all the electronics and make sure you have no issues with the ignition system on the engine. Not sure if it has points or hall effect sensor for the firing.
@@TomleyRC YOu know as well as I do if it's points, a little 400 gr sandpaper will make the world of difference. You did great tho getting it going even for a short run like you did.

This was a pretty sweet video, that car is definitely a pretty interesting design very cool mechanically. The body style makes me think of the pikes peak race cars of the 80s. I can't wait to see more of this when it gets warmer. Great episode brother, much love and respect from New York!

That's far from a fail, you know what to do now. Also you could make a muffler for the exhaust, just a can with a hole for the exhaust to go in to, lots of holes for the out and steel wool inside. It's basic but it should do something. 😀👍
Put a new spark plug in it will help you tune it better. Even though it doesn't look bad the porcelain inside from sitting gets micro cracks when heating back up I have to replace my 2 stroke jet ski plugs every season for the same reason.

Sorry for the multiple comments. I would run a hotter spark plug. Especially in the cold conditions. Also, make sure the spark plug gap is correct with a feeler gauge. I'm guessing 0.030" is common for these engines, or it will be hard to cold start every time.
