The automatic pump doesn't work

The built-in condensate pump on mine runs for a moment and then the unit stops because the collection bucket is full. How is it supposed to operate?

Does this unit have be up higher on a table for it to drain into a slop sink? I have mine on the basement floor near the slop sink and it won't drain.
