Great coverage guys, but that sequence where Pendlebury assisted the DeGoey goal actually started with another great hit out by Mason Cox, who had an excellent finals. Although I realize I’m being a “homer” talking about the only player from the States in Mason Cox, I want to say I’m grateful they gave Mason this chance.
Cox was immense these finals. In fact, he was easily the better ruck out of him and Cameron. In the game against Melbourne I think Gawn was easily best on ground but Cox was able to at least dull his impact a bit. Cameron might as well have been a training pad for all the contest he could put up. Cox was also huge against the Giants and I noticed that the Lions were so worried they were reluctant to put a back-up against Cox all game, knowing he was going to knock it straight to Crisp or Daicos if they tried.

Dropped that easy mark and had no scoreboard impact and just two touches for the match. In the last quarter he had two occasions where he had to compete and was nowhere near the ball. One of them was kicked to his advantage and he was so worried about Andrews he went the other way and completely forgot to go for the ball. Andrews had a decent game and did what he needed to, his job is not to dominate the game, it's to nullify his opponent and he did that and then some. The Pies were very lucky they were on top in other areas of the field to cover for their tall forwards lack of impact. Mihocek I'm often critical of but he was decent and played his role and got to plenty of contests, kicked that great goal in the first quarter. Hipwood had a poor game but compare the Pies two talls to Daniher though, who had a great game as a traditional centre half forward, getting up the ground to present, plenty of score involvements, important marks and three goals, and it almost cost the Pies.
The difference was Brisbane's lack of poise at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarter. They gave up 3 goals due to defensive brainfades. Although Collingwood would've won by 30 if they kicked straight
