Been an Essendon supporter for over 25+ years and god damn do I like Fly, what a true gentleman and an amazing leader. I wish Collingwood the best if the dons aren't winning ;)
That's very gracious, thank you. One thing about clubs with strong loyal supporter bases is they get back up. Your great club driven by its supporters will eventually get back up.
What a perfect person to bring into our club at a time when it was needed. Wrighty couldn’t have got this choice anymore, spot on....👏👏👏
Your right. Remember that Wrighty and the club did not rush the process of recruiting a coach at all. Buckley was exited with dignity, Rob Harvey had a great experience to care take then look at some of the people interviewed, Vossy, Kingsley, Lyon was spoken to. All of them competent. Fly was the best qualified person in such a rich field of candidates. We've been very lucky to have this calibre of people at Collingwood.
2023 is the most historic win of our club. The lead up was phenomenal never in all the time as a Pies supporter have I been so bloody excited, nearly needed a defibrillator a few times times with some of the wins 😂😂but by gosh it was a truly amazing year for us. The greatest part for me was no one gave us a chance to win the GF as we just scraped in by a lousy point in the PFs who would’ve thought we’d go all the way my god. We couldn’t believe how it all happened, the injury cloud, Bruzzy nearly suspended, our Coach and his wife had a beautiful baby girl and called her Maggie on GF day it was just so unbelievable. Craig you don’t take enough credit mate you and Leppa gave us your all as well as every other coach and training staff, our medical staff, right down to the ladies preparing the food and old mate who cleans the boots we have an amazing club we truly do I’m so happy and grateful what a wonderful time for us at Collingwood. Thanks to everyone involved it was the best Premiership win ever. GO PIES!!!.😊
2023 is one of the best grand finals I have ever watched if not arguably the best. I've seen the 2018 one too, the draw in 2010, 05 and 06, and 2012.
Well said 👏👏👏 Go Pies ⬛⬜🏆to🏆
I hope he coaches the Lions at some point. My Lions are about to do a three peat again. We are the better team and it's so unfair to play so little on the MCG. You already have a massive home advantage!🦁
@@tommygunn8355 Dude you had the same advantage to get into the finals with home games on a much smaller field then the MCG. You have nothing to whinge about imo. The MCG is the home of the AFL deal with it.
What a humble, likeable man Fly is. He has made Collingwood a very likeable club now. I never thought I would say this.
This man has truly harnessed the power of positivity and shared responsibility and success. It is clear every player on his side feels he is a vital cog in the team that has the ability to contribute powerfully to his teams success thus enhancing the players ability to achieve this. I genuinely believe in coaching terms there will be Before McRae and After McRae.
Thanks Craig and all the players.
Omg as a Pies supporter, I just
Love this man ❤❤❤
All my friends who “hate” Collingwood have admitted to me they have nearly had heart attacks (along with every Pie’s supporter) watching us over 2 years. The text messages to me through & after each game from these people, shows me the WHOLE of the AFL was watching our particular brand of footy and absolutely loving it. GO PIES. I was there at the Granny and it was unbelievable. But The most exciting game I’ve ever been to was the week before at the preliminary final. My god, we all nearly died of a heart attack.
We now have a mature coach who is just at the beginning of a tremendous era, a miracle worker
Craig has the most humility of any human I have ever seen, he never big notes himself and it is no wonder the players love him as well as us Maggie supporters. Go Pies for back to back.
So proud to say that I have one thing in common with our coach. A daughter named Maggie. Mine wasn’t born in a premiership year but I do have another daughter born in a premiership year 1990..
All I can say is What a Great Man and What a Great Club.
Saw us win in 1958, 1990, 2010 but this was the best!!! So many disappointments over the years-two minutes to go-Daniher kicks that goal-oh no! It’s happening all over again and then---Siren!!!! We won, Timmy, we won!!!
A genuine champ of the game.!
Fully rounded, smart coaching. From family to players, many should learn from his approach and as a Pies supporter, we trust in Craig and his wholesome approach to coaching. It has proven him as a leader in the AFL..
fly has brought us into a new era. an incredible person at the helm with fantastic support around him. bring on 2024!
He would be a great dad.
Nicest bloke on the planet.
Fly will one day finish as a coach and hopefully he will go onto the speaking circuit. What an inspirational person he would be to the sporting and corporate world stage. Collingwood needs him now but the world is there for the taking. The most balanced person I have heard interviewed a brilliant mind and attitude.
Thanks "As Always" Purple
That last line broke all of us ❤❤❤
As much as I would LOVE to see Collingwood go hack to back Football is a amazing game and I would like supporters of all Teams to feel the sheer joy of a Grand Final Win.
as a Pies fan, I feel the same way. must be awful for Freo fans to never have experienced that. hopefully they will someday.
Onya Craig ..💪🥰🫂🖤🤍🖤✊️ Thankyou 👍🏼
Good interview. Really enjoyed it. Tku.
Fly is a great role model for young players and a great coach to get the best out of his players ⚫️⚪️
Back to back flagpies24
You'll never hear fly say it
Not happening teams will know how to beat Collingwood now and plus they lost to north Melbourne that is funny as 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@kadeharris4309lost to north Melbourne in a pre season practice match with half the team from the grand final not even playing 😂
@@kadeharris4309 The Pies had 10 premiership players out against North Melbourne, wait to the REAL stuff before you start crowing mate......
Love the man ❤
PIES ARE GOATS THEY ARE SO GOOD COLLINGWOOD IS THE GOAT😊 Stop blowing up the like button
Collingwood Goats? what team is that🤔
@@BaggersAreFlaggers24 I mean like GOAT means the best
Collingwood forever 🔥
I liken the situation of De Goey's goal to pilots who practise scenarios in a flight simulator so that it becomes second nature when it happens for real. The Pies have obviously practised quite a few scenarios during practice.
Great Bloke , Go Pies.
Great man love him and my magpies and the way he coaches
I thank god the pies have started hiring character over ego ex legends ... Quality of Character goes a long way
Thank you
It looks to me that to win a Premiership you need your bottom six to be the best.
I want this guy to be next Lions coach! Come home Craig where you belong!🙏🦁
I was delighted to stumble across a TV segment with Jack Crisp and his daughter Lilah going to the Taylor Swift concert. She was nervous but obviously had enjoyed herself.
What's this got to do with anything? Who cares about Swifties? Who cares about Tay Tay ffs? Jack Crisp just went down in my opinion. You need to toughen up mate. hehehe
@@ChiaroScuro-Pie chill goose
@Scuro-Pie you need to get a life. A father having time with his daughter on something that is her wish is priceless in my opinion. It shows that winning a premiership has not changed them from having the right attitude so they should repeat although Brisbane remain a danger going on what I saw with their hitout against the Suns.
@@ianmontgomery7534Don't worry or read anything into these pre season games. ALL players are not even trying, they just want to get through the game without injury. For example North beat Collingwood by nearly 6 goals, but do we care or worry about that?.. of course not, it's a practice game that means nothing, so don't worry, only worry when the proper season starts and we are actually playing for wins so we can qualify to win another flag. It will be hard going back to back, but with Fly at the helm, anything is possible.💯%
@@victorpeirce4753I realise that but when I watched a bit of Brisbane's game some of their actions looked automatic and impressive even with players not in the positions you would expect them to play.
Would love a probing question about the Noble decision and what he’s looking for from him in 2024
Still working on Iceland and Yellowstone with helium 3 crazy
Why does Purple sound like he’s on x2 speed compared to Fly?
Enjoy it while you can. Things can get sour pretty quick. Supporters can turn on you at the drop of a hat.
A low profile coach can sometimes be better coaches than high a high profile coaches Fly.

You're in the winning business. Fans rather win then score
Mid season draft can only accommodate 1 selection. Two selections can be game changing and 3 picks can be season defining. its happened before when clubs have traded in 3 guns and Booooom next thing you see them in the top 4 challenging for a flag and sometimes winning one. Take Carlton for example with their 2022 trades! Essendon have traded in 4 guns in 2023 attempting to steal a Flag! Can you imagine what powerhouse clubs like that will do mid season with 3 extra trades and bags full of money! " Whatever it takes " right!

Damian Barrett puts his own face on the screen more. his editor must hate him.

I’m a Carlton supporter. I hate Collingwood with a passion! Craig McRae is such a down-to-earth and likeable bloke though, it doesn’t make sense…
This is going to sound strange, I'm not a big fan of Carlton at all. But I would like a see a Blues Flag with Voss. Particularly seeing Crippa win a Premiership. He's one player who definitely deserves it. As long as it's not against the Pies!
@@SuperRoo_22 after the second half of last season it could be on the cards, but Collingwood are on fire at the moment so they will be hard to beat again this year. Agreed, I’d love to see Vossy win a premiership too, and break the club’s 29 year drought- nearly as long as Collingwood’s longest drought of 32 years(it pains me to admit to being pleased for them in 1990). That would also get the Blues more premierships than the Pies once more!😉.
And Patty Cripps is both a great leader, great player and another very likeable bloke.
@NoName-ds5uq We were on fire last season. This season we start from zero again. Like the other 17 teams. It's not going to be a "Cakewalk". We'll hve to be even better than last season to win it again. Every other team should of improved and built on last season given a few exceptions. This season will be bloody hard to win it for any team. But your Blues will be in the mix again for sure. I also predict Freo, the Suns & Adelaide to make the 8 this year too.
My 8 for 2024 :
Collingwood
Carlton
Brisbane
GWS
Port Adelaide
Fremantle
Adelaide
Gold Coast
Not in that order though. Idk.
I'm omitting Melbourne due to their off-field woes. But I might be wrong about this whole list. Just a guess atm.
@@NoName-ds5uq I forgot Sydney. They'll be in the mix somewhere.
@@SuperRoo_22 I hope so for my son’s sake! His mother is from Sydney and I was never able to get him to come over to the dark side... As in the “Old Dark Navy Blues”…
And just for that I’d love to see Carlton knock Sydney out in a prelim this year! The cheeky young(25) bugger gives me heaps, so it was great to him some back after the first elimination final last year!🤣
To be honest, I want a Carlton v Collingwood grand final again! Let’s see how many people the G can REALLY fit in these days! It’ll never be a 1970 crowd, but still…
It’s crazy how such a nice Bloke can coach a team with some of the biggest grub supporters good on ya mate
Bit rich coming from a Crows supporter, you and Port are almost as bad as Carlscum the worst supporters in the league 😂
@@OwlJohlson Carlton are not that bad port aren’t either pies having the biggest dog supporters
@@OwlJohlson trust me mate we don’t care about success like congrats on all of that but your fan base is defs one of if not the worst but I’ll give u one thing the size of your fan base doesn’t help more chances of dickheads
I don’t think fans of south Australian clubs can call anyone else grubs, don’t you have anything better to do? Like slash the tyres of a car with Victorian plates? 😂
Winners are grinners....; and there's just so, so many of us (dare I say 'side by side'...?) Our chant must be audible poison for opposing fans, deafening unison and emphasises the collective joy of Collingwood fans.
Let's listen to half an hour of new age waffle and platitudes. I think Craig is a fantastic coach, but my lord he drives me mad with his drivel, and puerile insights. I don't like new age mantras, but Craig has swallowed the whole lot and then some. Some people thrive on this type of nonsense, I think if you're a person that's naturally confident in yourself, then this type of talk drives you round the bend, it's so shallow. Anyway, he's an up beat fella, that's a good thing, plus a very good coach. Let's now see how the Pies do in 2024.
Ninth
Broke my heart when he left Richmond. Took us to 3 grand finals in the twos. Wish he'd stayed.
100% real with no bullshit ...
Onya Fly!!!
There is no two ways about it, the mighty black and white put together one of the most thrilling and entertaining home and away campaigns in recent times, most thrilling final series in decades and put together one of, if not the best displays in a Grad Final EVER!!
Yes there were a lot of games that were decided in under a kick or 2, but we always managed to get the job done through hard work, skill and determination NO MATTER HOW MUCH THE ODDS WERE STACKED AGAINST US!!
Do I believe we can go back-to-back?? YES! And you best believe it too!!
🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍 Floreat Pica!
I just want to say that after we lost Eddie and Bucks in not so great fashion, missing the 2018 premiership by a small margin, and a Collingwood premiership eluding Bucks for good. The club felt defeated and empty, almost a shell of what it was for so long, but I just cant believe how quickly the club has been resurrected by this great man and his messaging since coming on board. Will be forever in his debt as a Collingwood supporter.
Im not usually one to have numbers on the back of my jumper, but I will pickup my new gold logo AFL / premiers 2023 guernsey and will get #4 on the back in honour of McCrae, and thats helped by Maynard also being #4 and impact on the finals and ultimately the permiership also.
100% real with no bullshit ...
Fly has raised the 5th best list in 2023 to a flag. With Pendlebury, Elliott, Crisp, Mitchell, Sidebottom, Hoskin -Elliott & Howe in the twilight of their careers, it would be a monumental effort to win back to back flags in an 18 team competition in 2024.
Geelong went down a similar path in 2023 & we know the result.
Collingwood’s got a better plethora of youth than Geelong did last year investing in more drafts recently than Geelong did and McRae has a more composed, disciplined and accountable temperament than Chris Scott does
