@@AlanSmithee69420 yeah I really don’t think they’re far off, stay injury free and some reasonable performances from the youngsters and you’ll go much further
Great vid. Some big positional changes will move the needle for the dees I think. Petty will be playing back in 2025 his natural position. Trent Rivers in the midfield full-time will be a huge factor too. Turner will be a starting forward and the new draftees will push early for selection. I’d say without major injuries top 8 is very realistic.
Well done again Woody, keep it coming mate, your videos are quality. Basically what you can derive from this one is the midfield isn't working hard enough, both offensively and defensively. An attitude thing, so if they can improve on that then they'll be back to September, if not and with the obvious calls about injuries then they won't. Plus what we can't put a finger on is the human element of what happened inside the 4 walls last year.
ive noticed your channel show up on my feed, im more of a 1 club follower so when you get to collingwood, ill def like and watch it all. :) love that someone is out there giving us some good analytical AFL content. Good on you.
@@thekhan1987 Thank you very much! Collingwood won’t be far off, should have a guest too, will be the final team before we bang out last years Top 8 (might be a 2 parter) Either way, thanks for the kind words and keep an eye out, Collingwood isn’t far off
Data is obviously all the rage in the modern game. No doubting it's significance, but there's also for want of a better term 'the infinitesimal' out there. Determination, qualitative actions, personal sacrifice, team spirit, a winning morale incalculable, immeasurable. Moment to moment, what equips the individual or members of the collective to beat 'the odds'? Max Gawn has got it in spades, keep healthy over the campaign anything is possible.
You have a very interesting method. I suspect there are some issues that don't chart like game plans. But broadly if you listen to commentary on main stream media it is almost all impressionist. This sort of work is far more rational trying to get to grips with the actual mechanics of game play. Money ball stuff
@@tomfrombrunswick7571 Bang on mate, some things just don’t come across with stats. And I’m with you re the state of commentary, feel like there’s different styles that have been pioneered in other sports that we seldom get. Also I reckon ChampionData has way better versions of what I’ve done, so while I’m very flattered, I’m not sure I’d quite call it Moneyball stuff, kinda just wish they’d share so I didn’t have to set this stuff up tho haha
When you have completed every team's analysis it will put you in a good position to do a 2024 All Australian Team - Money Ball style vs the team actually selected.
Pretty good analysis, but being picky Melbourne beat Port Adelaide in round 3 by 7 points not the other way around. Petty will also be playing in the backline this year.
Sorry was looking forward to this. Vid but after 2 min found it was just a stats bore , did fast forward. To the end As expected the conclusion was laughable Thank goodness we don’t rely on stats . Otherwise Sydney would have thrashed the lions in the gf . Pure and simple guts and determination. Over stats

@FreddiesSupercoach GOAT behaviour 🐐
Great in-depth analysis. I think the Dees will be playing finals this year if they can have a strong pre-season and remain injury free!

Love this analysis. A couple of observations . Rivers spent a lot of last season as a mid. Petty training with backs for 25
This is simply amazing, off to watch the rest of your team analysis’s now

Yeah I think that's gotta be the first area to focus on/improve, from there you can tinker with roles
Also thank you for the kind words!

Great analysis keep it up
Great vid but forgot about petty and disco turner who wil rotate through the back
Petty back to the backline will be a godsend in 2025.
I think our lineup should be:
Petty, May, McVee.
Rivers, Leaver, Salem
Langdon, Trac, Winsor
Sparrow, VanRooen, Thoulstrup
Kozzy, McDonald, Fritsche
Foll: Oliver, Viney, Max Gawn
Bench: Moniz Wakefield, Langford, Lindsay, Spargo.
