    Wonderful video! Retired last year... picking up my 2005 Shadow 1100cc (38K) today for $2500... I've owned a 650cc Shadow & Suzuki Intruder 800cc 15yrs ago... Time to get back on Shadow! I chuckled at "The Toyota Camery of bikes"... and my wife and I flat out laughed ,because we're 56 & 61yrs of chunky, funky fun... that's what it's all about! Keep up the great video adventures! I am chunky & funky too! Please let me know how it goes. Sorry for the very slow response was in Hospital for 9 days, darn deer. Home now. Wahoo!

    I like your videos and agree with much that you say. I picked up a 86 VT1100C from the original owner for $800 and did tons of work to it. Carbs were plugged up, rear shocks bad, front fork seals shot, bad fuel pump but I finally won. It’s a great dependable bike with great mileage. I just wish I could get as much riding in as you do. I’m 70 and still working and taking care of my 98 year old dad plus trying to please a woman. Time is hard to find. Watching you ride makes me want to get in more miles. I’m in Washington state if you’re interested in a big ride! Take care and Wahoo!!!

    I have a 2000 Shadow Spirit VT1100C…same bike. Mine has 57,400. Previous owner took part of the baffles out of the mufflers, so I installed slip ons, K&N,DynoJet jet kit. Now the bike runs as it should and the modification probably brought the power back closer to when it was new. I’ve done the fork seals, brakes, and the master cylinder, I also changed the fuel pump… what a PIA. I also bought OEM seats as the originals were ripped and getting kinda hard. With new seats, fresh fork oil and seals, the bike sits and rides like a new bike. I would love to have factory mufflers, but Honda stopped making them and I cannot find a set. Shadows are good bikes, but I would not want less than the 1100cc. The Shadows are timeless, they still look good.

Love it rides good handles good has plenty of torque off the line. Don't take it up on the interstate much I have a couple of times I-40 out of Russellville Arkansas where I live. It's crazy the traffic is insane everybody's driving 90-plus miles an hour. I don't like having to drive that fast to keep up with traffic. Didn't feel safe out there. I prefer to-lane highways back roads or just around town driving. I'm happy at about 65 miles an hour. that's fine for me. Guess I'm just getting old. LOL. I have 15000 miles on this bike and that's it. I've added a few things just to make it a little more comfortable for me. Planning on keeping this bike forever love it. Getting ready to leave Arkansas next spring and move back to my home state of Northern Cali. Around Chico California. Yes, I should have put out more information about that. It is a kuryakyn bag the top and both sides open. It's water resistant, I've had it in the rain and it did well. A full face helmet will fit in it. The opening side pouches have pockets and zippered compartments too. I think I paid $80 or $90 for it off Amazon. I'll make sure and talk about this more in an upcoming video. Thank you.

    I have a bought new 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with 118,000 miles on it. All mine. I had to pull the engine to replace the stator once, and replace the defective oem automatic cam chain tensioners with aftermarket tensioners. Both these issues were caused by bad designs. Other than that I have had almost no problems with it. I recently bought an almost like new low mileage 2002 Vulcan 750 to replace it when it finally wears out. I will take all my accessories off the '97 and put on the '02, and keep the '97 as a parts bike. I will NEVER own a bike with EFI or ABS. My one and only computer is sitting on my desk.
    If you are going to buy a Honda Shadow, the 1100 Spirit or 1100 Sabre are the ones to get. Stay FAR away from tube type tires. I could write a book about all the misery and grief that tube type tires have caused me.

      Hello, Love the 750 Shadow...one of the best motorcycles ever made...in my opinion. The bag works great for me and I'm very happy with it. Has not faded in color at all...yet. I got the bag on Amazon. For some crazy reason they link will not share. Should be able to Amazon search the following and get the same bag: Kuryakyn 5295 XKursion XS Cube Motorcycle Travel Luggage: Weather Resistant Seat/Trunk/Rack Bag with Sissy Bar Straps, Black
      Please let me know if it does not work. Thanks!

    good to see it strong at 40K. my 07 Sabre just turned over 24k yesterday. Love the bikes. I wish they they a little longer gearing. or wider spaced gearing. the engine is so torquey there isnt any need for how close the gears are.

    I got a 2004 shadow spirit 1100cc with 14,000miles on it. Windshield floorboards saddlebags. Thinking about going to Sturgis on this bike. would be 1800 miles “one way”. Question is what are your thoughts? Thanks

    • @forgottenmotorcycles
      @forgottenmotorcycles  2 года назад +1

      I would do it. My Shadow did countless trips of 600-700 miles per day. I had her everywhere from Northern MN, Wisconsin, all over Nebraska & Missouri, to Arkansa, Kansas & Oklahoma...not to mention every bit of Iowa too (and southern S. Dakota. She never complained. Only real limits were the size of her tank and the top cruising speed of 80-85 mph. She'd do a 100 but didn't like it. If her tires, brakes, battery & oil are good I would do it. Please let me know how it goes. YOu've got a great bike. Wahoo!

    • @williamarinder8809
      @williamarinder8809 2 года назад

      14,000 miles is not that much for a Shadow. Keep all fluids checked or changed, keep battery charged, (I carry a battery jumper with a pig tail connecter to the battery), new spark plugs and tires, then you should be good for the trip. Also, take a few metric wrenches, and that deep spark plug socket made for Shadows.

    Is there any difference between this and the sabre engine wise?

    • @forgottenmotorcycles
      @forgottenmotorcycles  2 года назад

      It's my understanding that both engines are the same. That may or may not be true though. I've also read that the Shadow Spirit is higher geared and therefore runs at a lower RPM at the same speed when compared to the sabre. I'm sure both are great motorcycles.

      I think the engines are different with the VTX having larger displacement. Also, the 1100 engine has the auto adjusting valves meaning less maintenance. Both are great bikes.
