    what you got the depth fixed at? i mean how many feet from float to hook? of course the whole line just dangles in the current ,wonder what depth they biting at , what rig setup do you recommend for spinning reel? im using a 7 foot medium ugly stick with 10 or 15lb line i forgot but im thinking of a high low rig, i don't have a heavy weight buoyant pike float like you got and hoping to do some bottom fishing

    • @OutsidersOutdoorCo
      @OutsidersOutdoorCo  Год назад

      This video I was floating about 8ft, I recommend at least a 9ft rod because you are able to mend the line better and get better hook sets. I like 21lb main line and 8-15lb leader depending on the water clarity👍 floating is probably the best option since there is going to be a lot of moss on the bottom👍

    • @ARCSTREAMS
      @ARCSTREAMS Год назад

      @@OutsidersOutdoorCo so about an 8' leader then and is that a slip float? you got any sinker(s) on the line if so how high up from the hook?

    • @ARCSTREAMS
      @ARCSTREAMS Год назад

      @@OutsidersOutdoorCo all i got is 10lb mitchell line on the 7 footer uglystick rod i want to use, got another 7 footer with maybe a heavier line but its old and under spooled, i do have a 9 foot fly rod but its got the old trout fly line and tippet on it ,not sure if i can install mono or other line on it instead never thought of using it like that , i do have fresh 12lb berkley mono and an old never used 17lb stern mono on hand

    • @OutsidersOutdoorCo
      @OutsidersOutdoorCo  Год назад

      That 10lb test will be fine, and if you're bottom bouncing you don't really need a long rod. If your using a float you have to even it out. For example if you use a 3/4oz float then put 3/4oz of weight on it👍

    • @ARCSTREAMS
      @ARCSTREAMS Год назад

      @@OutsidersOutdoorCo yeah im gonna try and do both bottom and float with the 7 footer, but depends on the situation if there is too much current or how the bottom is rocky,weedy, woody etc only floats i got that can handle more weight so as not to travel too much in the current are those big red/white round kiddy bobbers, i can make them become slip floats though if necessary to cast further than my short rod will allow since im not using longer rod so it depends on the depth of the water and i guess heavier sinker if im also bottom fishing with too much current ,well enough talk i need to get out there man lol thanks buddy for taking the time 🤘

    do they bite worms too? or plastics? what about using a high low rig ? because that is the rigs i been preparing, never thought of using float

    • @OutsidersOutdoorCo
      @OutsidersOutdoorCo  Год назад

      I've caught plenty on Marabou and rabbit hair jigs too, high low rig is probably not the best option because there are so many snags down there👍

    • @ARCSTREAMS
      @ARCSTREAMS Год назад

      @@OutsidersOutdoorCo ok well im thinking of using high low with worms and plastics to see what works but its difficult in location that have high current and lots of snag on the bottom like you said but i will be at another location further up called queenston docks or perhaps even further up at the mouth of the river near lake ontario at queens royal park if you know these places because they are on the canadian side , i would think however the fish are further south in the niagara river or other inlets away from the lake , another place closer to where i live is hamilton or burlington im gonna try there first because id like to find places closer to me to be more cost effective in filling up my ice cooler lol but if i know ill be catching many slabs like you got ill def go further

    • @ARCSTREAMS
      @ARCSTREAMS Год назад

      @@OutsidersOutdoorCo so they seem to be biting quite shallow there then , float is good but problem is it needs to hold lot of weight so it dont swim off into the current too fast
