    I heard they weren't a good eating fish. Dudes in De Pere had like 50 on shore a couple weeks back. Was told they're ok to eat that day but not good to freeze. Interesting to see that you smoke them. Is that pretty much the only good way to eat them?

      Anyone who says they hate them just hasn't learned how to process them! You need to bleed them right away and put on ice or as you can see in the video I put a little water in a cooler then add a couple of frozen bottles so that I can keep them cool well bleeding them out then when you clean them you want to get all the red meat off and that takes practice! But if you fillet them and stick the meat into a bowl of salt water with ice in it then rinse and freeze in baggies with water and a pinch of salt with the air squeezed out I have fed them to people who ONLY eat walleye and they thought I was feeding them walleye 🤣 Learn how to prepare them and you'll be good!

    The battle on that river for catching a white bass (or a cooler full) is insane! Been fishing some of the same spots for almost 40 years now. But nowadays if there's other boats in those spots I just go find them somewhere else! In a river that big and that wide it's easy to find your own spot, which you did but then others followed you! Come on, it's for white bass! They all over that river! Glad you did what you did. I'd do the same!

      Now that I have live scope I truly understand how many MILLIONS of white bass are in that river during their spawning run! MILLIONS! You just have to find a group of a couple 100 that are willing to bite 🤣

    I've caught those fish all day long but a spinner in the shallows on a sunny day is my ultimate favorite way to catch them! Second favorite, where I learned the, you guessed it, split shot and hook with a minnow method is at night. That's how and when I got 70 of them in 2 hours about 30 years ago! I don't get to fish them at night that often anymore cause the 2 hour drive home is too late at night for me to drive home, but when I was in my late teen's and early 20's no problem!

      Just because I know the spinner sometimes works fish after fish on those sunny spawning flats I gave it a try for about 20mins and NOT 1 fish hit! 🤣 They were minnow eaters only that day!

    That's why I like to fish down by Orihula. There's less of those wake boats 🚢 making all the waves.

    Love your set up with jig/plastic - awesome rod. I use St.Croix ML 7” 10lbs braid main line , 8lbs sinker 10 in leader mono and 6lbs 5 footer for my fly mono leader. It works so well in case of bottom snags , most of the time I have to retigh only fly or leader.

    Should be a limit on these

    • @DWSOutdoors
      @DWSOutdoors  7 дней назад

      @@CCGG262 each White Bass has up to 100,000 baby’s every spawn… there are anywhere between 1,000,000 and 100,000,000 White Bass in the Bago system at any given time… Of all the fish species in WI the White Bass doesn’t need a limit.
