An ultralight rod and big bluegills is the best fishing. I fish for them year round even in the winter and I live in NJ where it gets cold.

I'm from Mississippi and I've never seen a blue gill bite with the tip of the hook showing

I specifically use jigs and this setup to keep them from swallowing it 😂

PB 10 3/4 In female. About 1.2 pounds, maybe a little more. Lifted it in the boat with no net on 4 pound test! Thought it was a carp, that's how much she fought!

11.25” gill is my PB in MN (been fortunate enough to get a couple that big over the years)

Are you using any type of fish finder? Looks like you have one just not sure. Or are you just going to docks

You might want to give another brand of line a try if a 1 pound fish breaks 4 pound line. I fish panfish and trout with 2 pound sufix advanced and have swung 14in rainbows up onto docks with gaurd rails. Plenty of crappies over 1 pound as well.

Good reason not to use spring bobbers. They can weaken the line.

I like using the thill bobbers with the Teflon sleeves to hold them on..

You either have really old old line or don't tie knots well. Even 4lb line can lift a 10 inch gill
