I did old trucks for over 10 years. I won’t do that again. I’m okay with a payment every month. A payment beats having a down truck. A down truck will break you fast. Not only are you not running, all those customers you would have if you weren’t down are going somewhere else and won’t be coming back. So factor that cost on top of the truck repair cost. Having an old truck will have you in the shop many times a year. That’s thousands you’re loosing as well as a customer base for future work. Ever have a load on your trailer and your truck breaks down? Towing costs, down time, hotels probably in a middle of no where, a mechanic that’s going to charge you up the rear because he knows you don’t have much of a choice, plus he knows you won’t be coming back for warranty repairs. Besides all that, you’re going to piss your customer off. Yes, they want their shipment. They don’t care about you and your issues. That’s your problem, not theirs. As soon as they have a reliable driver, they won’t be looking for another one. My biggest tip to anyone hauling anything, is DO NOT BUY USED TIRES. Always buy new and check the dates on them. Tires cause damage when they blow out and down time will cost you putting on a spare and doing repairs caused by the tire blowing.
Good video bro. I have been trucking over 26 years all big trucks .worked my way up the ladder.your telling the truth its,a business and you better treat it that way. Keep rolling safety man.
Appreciate the video brotha you seem like good peoples for making this vid. You confirmed what I was thinking already 🤔. I'm gonna stack up for a year then start 2022 with my hot shot business. You can't rush the process like you said man.
You've come a long way already! Good job...LEARN, ADJUST, MOVE FORWARD....keep repeating that process until there's nothing to adjust. It took me about 6 months to be as efficient as I am now.
All stellar advice fella! Well spoken and well put together! Let me add that lining up a good dispatcher and factoring service will help you tremendously to keep it going! Ya don’t want to be sitting waiting on loads because you aren’t booking loads before ya drop your current load.
Thanks for the shout out!! The ol ford is still doing great and April will be 2 years on the road hauling. Keep the videos coming and we'll see you on the road
Thank you!!!! that video you made might have went over some heads you broke it down perfectly i wish i would’ve done exactly what you said keep trucking be safe!!!!
Excellent video with some very actionable advice. The best way to ruin all future Christmas and Thanksgivings is to borrow money from a relative. If that's your only option, rethink your plan.
Excellent video!! Been trucking since the 90’s and had Authority since 2000. Owned several rigs at once and now I’m down sizing to non-CDL hotshot 1 truck and 1 trailer). Even though I know a lot about trucking I still have been doing extensive research since June. I’m just waiting for my Big Tex 16GN-40 (just like the one you are sitting on I believe?). Ordered it in August and it’s supposed to be here in December. Not sure where you are out of, but I’m out of Longs, SC. Maybe our paths will cross. Thanks for info and stay safe!! 👍✌️
Nice level headed video, I stumbled my way into watching hotshot videos the other day. So many videos about "I make 10k this week, or xx amount this month". I've also seen some that break down the numbers to show actual cost for that person. Giving me a lot to think about. Already have a truck, bought it to haul a 5th wheel RV.
@@airsent11277 I did look at a couple RV transport sites just to see, and they flat out said they try to find back haul jobs, but it's not a guarantee. I have my military pension to fall back on, but have been looking at ways to make a living outside of aircraft maintenance.
My boyfriend was driving dump trucks too. He's on layoff for the winter so he's still technically employed, but I quit my job to help him dispatch on the road. I wish we would've done a little more research on the process of getting your DOT and MC numbers cuz we were clueless and stressed as hell when it came down to the wire. We finally became official on the 23rd of Dec. though. Liked your video! just subscribed!
i agreed with what u said but if i dont start soon im not going to make good money already have truck. im a cdl driver but aint making what i thought cdl would bring mw and i dont want to wait 10 years to make it. u gotta have balls n risk it
I have a good job that pays well. Your totally right about how not to leave your job. Im not planning too leave my job. Im definitely doing very much research on it. Do you think its a good partime gig or a great side hustle. Thats what I'm thinking
I’m going back to my truck driving job (Schneider) and paying off all my debt probably $15k total then I’m buying a older dually & trailer and gone jump into the hotshot game and give it a try , I rather go in without a truck or trailer payment with $5k-$10k in the bank saved up that way when something breaks I’ll have money to get me back on the road without it hurting my pockets.
@@airsent11277 starting out that’s the best option to me , if I decide I don’t like hot shotting I won’t be sitting on a $20k trailer and $50-70k truck
What's good bro bro hey quick question ⁉️... I know getting a second full is pretty much over for a CDL and all but after ten yrs would I be able to go for it tho 🤷🏾♂️?... And will I be able to still find work??? Pls let me know the real bro thks ☺️
Great video excellent point on older trucks if you have a truck or you can get one for 12 grand And it has 200000 on it and it's a diesel The truck has a lot more life in it than people realize specially when the truck hasn't been beat on or abused Another tip look for a vehicle that's owned by an elderly gentlema Odds are that vehicles been better taken care of And again I like to apologize for my last Comment About the You haul trucks It wasn't meant to be rude
Question i wanna get into hotshot about to get my class a but I want to ease into it starting just doing weekends do you think that's possible have a full time job but wife disabled can't quit my job because of obvious reasons just trying to gather a little info
Hey what's up brotha I'm in greensboro nc and I'm looking into hauling and I'd like to email or what ever is good for you for some info if that is fine just let me know please.
First best piece of advice is don't listen to that guy Tow Piglet on here. He will show you how Stuff miraculously breaks every couple of weeks and how it's not his fault. I watched about 30 of his videos a couple of months ago and I swear he went through 5 trailers in 2 months. He pretty much just tried every piece of equipment out that you possibly can because he tear shit up.
My boyfriend told his first job he hauled sod for a farm with a tractor and trailer (even though he didn't) and he didnt have a problem getting on with a concrete company. You dont have to have a CDL for farm use vehicles I believe. Still CDL experience though.
Funny how you will speak about what’s important…. But will not share how they over came it… and how they are running it. Lmao. You are like the 20th person making a video doing and saying the same things. But can’t answer any questions. They get overlooked or deleted for some mysterious reasons.

Why non CDL If you have a CDL ? Just run hotshot with the CDL
Good stuff. Thank you.

Just don't haul RVs. Folks find out the hard way about back hauls. Plus why would anyone run a truck for $1.35 a mile

Part time would be hard unless your schedule is very flexible i tried it and I’m a barber didn’t work and i worked wen i wanted still didn’t work
What about finding an accountant or attorney for your business before you really need them?
What was that video you referred to about keeping cost low?
Where did you get those 40ft trailers from I want one if you still got them ?

Not yet thinkin about it
How much would you recommend to have in savings?
My question to you my brother is if I want to make this a career and I go hard I mean I go hard and I’m straight focus I’m going to make money right.
If you’re willing to work hard you’ll do great with anything but to answer your question yes

I’m in 5 years and do all my own work to 2014 Ram 3500

Yes 40ft usually have to get them built there’s a lil wait on them not usually readily available
8-10 week wait roughly
I’ve been waiting for almost 3 months and didn’t get mine. I have 33ft long now and have the money for your 40ft if you wanna sell it
