      Disagree with Mac as he was quite inconsistent throughout the first half of his career. Draisaitle on the other hand I would argue should be up there. And I think what will get him there is learning to play defense. Then people will agree. Mac will get there. Especially if he wins another cup. Or has hart consideration in the next year or two. He's super borderline.

      @lelouchvibritannia4028 Год назад +17

      @@Gergentine MacKinnon was snubbed for what should've easily been two Hart trophies in 2018 and 2020. The NHL voters have such double standards. In 2018, they didn't vote for him because the Avs were a one-line team. In 2020, they didn't vote for him and instead gave it to Draisaitl, even though Draisaitl was on a one-line 2020 Oilers team and Mack dominated way more advanced stats categories than Drai.

    Going to throw out two defensemen that I think deserve to be in the HOF.
    Zdeno Chara: Has a Stanley Cup and a Norris Trophy, currently 2nd among active defensemen in points, multi-time All-Star. Definitely became more than just an anomaly on skates. There may come along a player who takes his spot as the tallest NHL player in history, but I don't see them being as productive and skilled as Chara has been. If he does call it a career, I think he's already done more than enough to get a HOF nod.
    Kris Letang: Has multiple Stanley Cups, currently 4th among active defensemen in points and only 30 points behind Chara for 2nd, multi-time All-Star. He doesn't have any individual accolades to strengthen his case and injuries have cost him his share of games played. Yet he just had a career year in points at 35. I think the only thing that is holding him back is injuries and not a decline in production. Playing with Crosby and Malkin certainly helped but the Penguins didn't blink about resigning him and I'm sure he could have got bigger money deals from other teams had he chose to test the FA market.
    A good argument can be made that Letang's more a borderline HOF. He doesn't have a Norris trophy like Doughty or a Conn Smythe like Keith but he's outscored both of them despite not even hitting 1,000 games played for his career yet. I agree both of those players should at least get strong HOF consideration, so by comparison I think Letang is deserving as well.

    I just want to give my argument for Giroux's hall of fame case. While he doesn't have much hardware, thanks to Philly's wonderful franchise. Mr. Giroux, in the 2010s, had the 4th most points out of any player in that decade behind Kane, Crosby, and Ovechkin. Currently has 923 points in 1,018 games and is signed for the next 3 years. So injury-free, he WILL brake 1,000 points and 300 goals. Giroux is a 7-time all-star. And the most impressive achievement of them all, Claude Giroux, is an EA Sports: NHL '13 cover athlete.

    Pretty good list overall! Burns I think actually has more of a chance of getting in than some of the other players within the borderline tier. Especially if he wins a cup on a very good Carolina team his chances are reasonable. Spezza has little chance in my opinion but has had a very good career. Getzlaf and especially Karlsson are locks to get in and should be bumped up a tier. A lot of the guys in the hall of fame tier are most likely going to be first ballot. However, I understand the differentiation of the tiers. Having said that, Bergeron and Thornton should absolutely be bumped up to the highest tier. I love Matthews but I don't see anything that he has done to set him apart from guys like MacKinnon and Draisaitl. Mackinon has won a cup and was runner up for an MVP. Draisaitl has won an mvp and has been a monster in the playoffs as well. While Matthews will almost for sure have a hall of fame career, he could in theory fall like a rock like Danny Heatley or Jamie Benn and he would not make the hall of fame if he retired today unlike Mcdavid.

And scored his personal best in his 40's with 100+ points- the same season Hull became the first to hit that mark, a few games earlier than Howe... He played into his 50's and still was averaging a little more than a point every other game... His all time games played record might have been broken. Ik this feels a little too biased, but he has stole games that Flower hasn't even done when he's in his prime. Vasy did it before his prime and still strives the success he's had is very impressive. His overall game and positioning is outstanding. Maybe not as calm as like Price, but still has the competitiveness that King Hank and Flower had especially during the bubble and the recent playoff games. Also, having multiple shutouts in clinching series no goalies ever has had that type of achievements.

    Great video. The more goalies that go in (Luongo) that have not won a Cup. The more frusturating it is Chris Osgood is not in. His #'s more than support it. Its fun to play the hall of fame game. Cheers

    I have to agree with McDavid. I wouldn't be surprised if he flirts with 200 points in a season if scoring continues to trend upwards. I'm almost convinced hell have 2PPG season

    I think Price is first Ballot, he is one of the greatest goaltenders of all time, the only thing he’s missing is a cup and he could be THE greatest goalie

    Jumbo is an obvious 1st ballot IMO. 12th all-time in points and 7th all-time in assists. Same number of cups as Matthews but with much more international success.

    I didn't see a John Tavares photo on that board. True, he played for some bad teams in NY and he hasn't had the success that he has hoped for in TOR, but individually, he is, or soon will be, as great as some of the lesser lights on that list. By the time his career ends, and it's still far from over, he'll be given more serious consideration, I'm sure.

      I think he had a strong case to get in without the games played record. With it I'd consider him a lock (though not first ballot. I wouldn't be surprised if, depending on the class, he's inducted when Jumbo is). He's 23rd in goals with 566. Aside from Ovie and Jagr who are ineligible since they haven't retired, everyone ahead of him is in the hall of fame. Keith Tkachuk (33rd with 538 goals) is the player with the most goals who isn't in who is eligible. After him is Pat Verbeek at 37th (522 goals), then Pierre Turgeon (40th, 515 goals) and Jeremy Roenick (41st, 513 goals), and Peter Bondra (44th, 503 goals). Of the 46 players with 500+ goals, 4 are ineligible, 5 aren't in, and 37 are in.
      Marleau is 50th in points at 1197. Of the top 50 players, 5 are ineligible, 4 aren't in (Turgeon with 1327, JR with 1216, Nicholls with 1209, and Damphousse with 1205), and 41 are in.
      While he doesn't have any individual awards (unless you count the most games played record), he won 2 Olympic golds, a World Cup gold, and a World Championship gold. He had the 5th longest iron man streak in NHL history of 910 consecutive games that only ended with his retirement. Again, not a first ballot, but I'd be surprised if he's not in eventually.
