For the Flyers I'd honestly go with Atkinson over Laughton, but both are good options. Atkinson's quietly having one of the best seasons of his career (on pace to hit 30 goals and tie his second best points total at 62) on a team that's having major issues scoring, and leading the league in SHG this season. He's improved defensively as well, and while I don't think +/- is a great stat to measure defense, being a +11 on a team that's mostly in the negatives and second place is +5 means something working

Him, Kotkaniemi and Danault have been my favourite Habs over the past few years, so it's sad to see that Danault wasn't re-signed, Habs failed to sign Kotkaniemi in time and Lehky is most likely gonna be traded...

In my opinion we have 2 types of underrated. The first would be where the majority of guys here like Chandler Stephenson from Vegas falls. The second would be guys at the top tier who don't get the shine or maybe a better word is under appreciated. A guy like Aho or a Point or a Hertl/Meier. Guys who are legit studs but never get love. As a Canes fan I just can't understand Ethan Bear pick among the many guys on the roster. I like him but he's been about average all around.
An underrated player would HAVE to be Nino Niederreiter who has been a great plug in guy and goal scorer wherever he is in the lineup. Watch any Canes game and he'll always be involved in winning board battles and generating great offensive zone pressure.
I would also like to say that Aho is as underrated as Barkov used to be before people finally picked up on him. He's a fantastic two way forward, can put the team on his back when needed and is just so consistently reliable every game. I think he's without a doubt a top 10 center in the league right now and can be argued maybe as high as #5.

We wouldnt have had the Cup here in D.C. without Stephenson. He was amazing in the 2018 playoffs. That Smith-Pelly goal in Game 6 of the ECF vs TBL. Stephenson beat the icing and poked the puck away from the defenceman. It came back to him and he made a beautiful no-look to the slot where DSP sunk it.
Lars Eller is another gem. Scored the Cup Winner but more importantly; he scored the 2OT winner in Game 3 at CBJ. The Caps dropped both Game 1 and 2 at home; leaving little to no hope here in D.C. Then, Eller got one foot out of the grave and we were off. He replaced Backstrom for a stretch; who had a broken hand in the 2018 Postseason. ( Ovechkin wasn't lifting the Cup with Backy for the cameras. Backstrom wasn't able to lift it. Lars did it so well, too. Kuznetsov was then out for a short stretch. Lars replaced Kuzy quite well, too. Eller didn't just fill the spots, either. He produced just as they would have. His PP feed to Ovechkin in Game 2 was GORGEOUS. Then, the glorious 4-3 Stanley Cup Winning Goal. He showed ; affording him just enough time to find that puck in the crease and send it home.
The memories, man. I don't care if my Caps never make it out of the first round again. We got to experience our boys reaching the summit. Those two guys were huge in the proceedings, too. Those depth guys are more important than the stars. They will make it or break it.

Tuch is looking like a star. Plus young players like Dahlin, Power, Cozens, JJ Peterka, Krebs, Quinn, Mittelstat, Ollofsson and Jokiharju. But the goalies are who I am most excited about. Toews a good pick for Avs although Nichushkin right there as well and you see a noticeable difference in how the Avs play when either are out of the lineup. Val has turned into an absolute force in every facet of the game as has Toews. Both will play on the PP and PK and each of them will play 3 vs 3 OT minutes as well.

Eller has been good, but Fehervary managed to become the no°1 defensive D on a very good Capitals' roster. His confidence and defensive stats are godly when you take into account it's his first full season in the NHL. Points will come later for sure.

With the Avs, I would say Nichushkin is the most underrated player. Toews is a pretty good defenseman, but I've seen people mentioning him in the Norris conversation. Nichushkin has missed some games, but when he was healthy he produced. 13 goals, 11 assists in 29 games may not be at the top of the league, but he deserves a lot more attention than he currently gets.

I'll give you Mike Reilly being underrated for Boston. People talk about him like he's a scrub and despite the fact Forbort has been the worse pickup Reilly has been healthy scratches and is taking a lot of fan heat. Grizz on the other hand is a fan darling. And isn't good defensively. He's a good possession guy. Once he has the puck he drives offense and doesn't turn it over much. But he's terrible in board battle situations and entirely lacks on physicality. He's no Torey Krug.

Rust is really special, a lot of skill and pasion for the game. Put some respect on his name!
