For all the intro skippers out there, in this video I was only choosing from players drafted in the 5th round and beyond!
Jokes on you i watch the video on x2 speed
I had no idea that Pavs was taken in the 7th round. And to produce like he has at his age, he is a gamer.
@@Aburner960jokes on u I read that on 2x speed
Your intros are like barely 40 seconds long lol people really just have no attention span if they need to skip it 😂
For the 2010 draft I think Mark Stone was a huge steal in the 6th round
as a habs fan I agree, Stone is better than gallagher in pretty much every way possible
Yeah I missed that one for sure
It would keep the captain streak going
In my opinion, the biggest draft steal of all time would be Pavel Datsyuk - six round gem. The Magic Man!!
Motor city magic
Agreed, one can throw around any other name and all the stats and trophies this guy or this guy collected over their truly amazing career, none of them made people fall in love with the game and stick with it like he did.
Seeing Yegor on this list makes me happy, sad and mad. Wish it would've worked out for him with the Devils but it looks like the change of scenery was needed for him to make a bigtime impact.
As a 23 year old, life long, Wild fan, I always wanted a top tier talent in the franchise. Caught 17 games of Gaborik, but even I knew he wasn’t of this caliber. Kirill Kaprizov is the heart, the soul and a savior of the Wild and has come into the league and exceeded any expectations set for him. We all thought we were getting a Tarasenko. Well, we got a Kucherov instead. Now it’s up to them to make right by him and surround him with other talent. Wherever he goes, I go. What a special player man.
kirill is awesome….That being said he ain’t Kucherov.
@@Joe_Ma99 kirill has yet to reach the heights of kucherov but comparing their first 4 seasons kirill has been the better player
Kucherov came in as a 20 year old kid playing in the bottom 6 on a cup contender. Kaprizov was a seasoned pro having played 6 seasons in the KHL and was given top 6 minutes and power play time immediately so your 4 season comparison lacks context.
@@Joe_Ma99 I said Kucherov cuz he’s a great example of a superstar russian winger . I am well aware that Kaprizov hasn’t won a hart, a cup, an art ross… I am well aware my man. I was expecting a Tarasenko (an awesome first line, 35 goal guy) but instead we got a Kucherov (a franchise, superstar player). Kaprizov has a lot more to accomplish and I believe he will
Unfortunately the rest of the Wild are so mediocre that they are no where close to contending for a cup.
2019 had some good options in net as well with Silovs looking decent in the playoffs and great at last years WC as well as Dustin wolf being an AHL star.
I know Pastrnak was still drafted in the first round, but being picked 25th overall for someone as good as him, I would consider a steal. He should've been drafted at least in the top 5. You could also say Marchy was a steal because he was drafted in the third round 71st overall. It's pretty good to get him that late with how good of a player he is
Forsling might start getting Norris attention next year if he sustains what he's doing in these playoffs.
it would be totally out there. His style isn't the typical d man. He isn't lighting guys up with big hits. He hits, but its not big. He doesn't have the point production to get the attention of a 30 goal d man with 80 assists. His ability to skate and use his stick is nothing like anyone else. Makar looks faster, but Forsling is always in the correct place. Most of the goals that are given up is because his linemate Ekblad decided to go to the wrong spot or wrong side of his ice. Many times he is able to make up for it with his speed. Its a hard sell no matter how many times he leads in plus minus.
He was crucial this year for the cup!
2007...i completely agree with Jamie Benn, 5th round is crazy to think about today !! Close second might be Pk Subban that year.
You are in fire! Lot of videos and they are all really nice!!!
8:40 one of the best REGULAR season goaltenders in the NHL. He constantly folds come playoff time.
Did you not watch the Jets horrendous defence these playoffs? Wasn’t on him.
Nah not on him
7:11 Brandon Gallagher over Mark Stone?!?
2012 was probably one of the worst draft of that decade but still gave us Connor Hellebuyck. Proof that you never know what you can get at the draft, however weak it is !!
Really happy to see Forsling succeed. Always wondered what would become of that young dman we traded away so early into his career. I don't know why so many are obsessed with giving Benning shit about this. The dude took 10 years and four teams to break out. But god forbid we give Benning an ounce of credit for drafting yet another overachieving player!
Not sure if Silovs would count for 2019 draft. Small sample for NHL games played. For being picked in the 6th round he is looking like a very good goalie
he played 10 games calm down
If you have done 4th round or later, the 2017 pick should have been Drake Batherson.
Fr
Did u do a undrafted list?
Honorable mention for Carl Hagelin, selected 6th round by the Rangers in 2007
His last goal was on our net:(
omg the nostalgia i felt when you said Marek Židlický 😂
Idk if I agree with your 2010 pick. I would have gone with Mark Stone.
Here for the Jesper bratt love
Is a guy that never been drafted, an even bigger steal ? was thinking of Arber Xhekaj.
Artemi Panarin
@@SaveznaRepublikaJugoslavija That's a great one indeed.
Going by that metric, Johnathan Marchessault is one hell of a steal too.
Lundqvist and Pavelski both being pick 205 is kinda crazy
The thing that makes Bratts fall even more weird is that he was the consolidated 14th ranked European skater, so why he fell to the 6th makes no sense, not only that if you look at all the draft profiles from 2016 most of them are by Detroit websites due to Bratt being Swedish, so the fact that the Redwing's didn't draft Bratt in the 5th round considering they had more knowledge on him then anyone is just bizarr.
I think he mentioned that he was supposed to be drafted earlier but fell down the ranks because of his size
@@gustavpettersson9564 6ft?
@@Theon435 i think he is more like 5,10 5,11. He says it in a house tour video he did with swedish media
I would also mention Nic Dowd and Erik Haula for 2009 draft
You should look for a late draft round from any year that had some good players and do a redraft!!
I can't believe The Thrill was a 5th rounder. wow!
2017 Drake Batherson 225 points as a 4th round pick
Ah yes the Gainey and Bergevin eras of the canadiens gave us such gems as Subban, Gallagher, Lekhonen, Markov, RHP, Joshua Roy, Evans and many others beyond round 1, but for the most part couldn't draft a 1st round pick worth a damn. Some of the good ones were traded away (Sergachev and Mcdonagh). Price, Pacioretty, Guhle, Caufield are rare gems in decades of mediocrity.
9:15 Halifax legend
arvidsson, passed on 2011, 2012 and 2013, drafted in 2014 112th overall.
Can you do a best goalie from every draft? 👍
In summary, best way to get a bunch of future hall of famers on your team, trade all your 1st round bust picks for as many 5th, 6th, and 7th picks until you control all the 5th round and later pics for the next 10 years. Take all the players and hope you get the 1 or 2 guys each year that slip between the cracks.
Gally may never have been a Captain, but he’ll always be one in my heart
Man it actually sucks for flames that hubby is producing cause i think if he got even just on 70+ points season people wouldnt hate on him or that trade so much, as i think weegar might be one of the best all around dman in the league right now but the production of hubby is just so bad that the trade looks horrible
Yes Weegar was a bigger loss then Huberdoh! Bleeping salary cap!
12:14 ref eats it
Any 4th rounders that are better than any names in this?
Quite a few, I would imagine. Shesterkin, Batherson and Maccelli would definitely all be the picks for their respective draft classes for example.
@iCoolaxe will look them up. To me 4th round is late enough to be considered a steal
Did you count UNDRAFTED?
Gallagher over stone was definitely a miss
huh, Puljujarvi isn't ur pick in 2016? weird
I love the content can you di another ask me anything video
Next Monday!
@@OhNyquist where do we put that question
> best waiver claim of all time
Bryz or Recchi I think
Bros brain was on autopilot on 2010
While i cant argue your picks i would submit the LA Kings 09'-15' 7th rnd, 5 of 8 (Dowd-198th 09',Nolan-186th-09', Kubalik-191st 13',Middleton-210th 14',Roy 194th 15') were home runs, all 5 over 200 gp, barring injury all 5 will be over 300gp, have combined for 1850 gp, [might get 1000 gp from 09' alone (Dowd-500, Nolan-375)] 225g, 540pts from 2 shut down D, a defensive C, a goon (who could play), and 1 offensive threat, Roy in particular, to find a top 2 quality D at 194 that is a steal, as for guys to watch due to reasons above pay attention to LA 7th rnd picks Andre Lee-188th 19', Aatu Jamsen-190th 20', Kaleb Lawrence-215th 22' and 2023' 6th(182nd) rnd pick Ryan Conmy he had a strong freshman season at the University of New Hampshire scoring 14g, 31pts in 34gp after a point-per-game season in the USHL and id be remissed if i didnt mention Chromiak 5th rnd 2020
Brayden Point?? Hello
Third rounder. Doesn't qualify for this list. But he was a steal, that's for sure.
Bro skipped Shesterkin AND Sorokin for Forsling.. really??
My bad I thought it was 3rd round and beyond
While watching the video how does a 7-8th rounder even get a chance. These days you almost never see them play.
It’s rare!
give it at least 5 years of player development from each draft year for those guys to emerge. It will keep happening because scouts only like scouting what they know.
2014 Brayden Point is a much bigger steal then Forsling come on , 3rd round pick and has been a 1st line centre for years with 2 cups cause he was a big part of that
5th round or later, Point is a beast though.
YEOOO
Igor? 4th round, pick 118
Not 5th round and be on
Dude how the hell did you miss Hutson and Poitras from 2022?😂
Was only choosing from players drafted in the 5th round and beyond.
@@OhNyquist Ah I gotcha.
If datsyuk isn’t on here imma be mad
Before 2000!
so we need every youtuber to do this every year ? pointless content that adds no value to the site. if u did it from idk 1970-2023 thatd be different but u just copy everyone else ...
Not too surprising that so many late round picks have become captain. The amount of adversity they have to overcome just to make it to the nhl is so inspirational. They have so much to share with young players
Very good point.
Surprised to not see Mark Stone as the pick for 2010 draft
Shit, I definitely missed that one. For some reason I thought he was a 4th round pick.
Come on bro that 6th is the def of steal
Content grind on fr
Mark stone hands down one of the best 6th overall picks period wish he was still in Ottawa. Also where in vid?Love the vids keep it up and stay hydrated
Gotta do a best undrafted players ever video.
Exactly!!
A few Habs players...make sense, the problem in Montréal was not really drafting but development. They work a lot on it and i feel in a similar video in a few years, Lane Hutson might be on the list ! Hugues is drafting really well in his first 2 years, don't be surprise if you see other surprise like Adam Engstrom, Jacob Fowler or Bogdan Konyushkov !
Not choosing Mark Stone from the 2010 draft... Oof.
On RHP, he spent most of the year coming back and forth with injuries that took a long time to finally get free of and could not be sent down to laval to regain his form to protect him from being claimed, once finally fully healthy took him a good five games to finally start to resemble to his former self and five more to regain his total skating speed, but he got placed on a line that was primarily tasked with shutting down offense a line he got to share with the one guy in Josh Anderson who seems to might very well have been the one player in the whole league struggling the most all year to get back to his usual production.
Summer will do good to both of them.
If Josh can get the same kind of mental prep help that finally unlocked Joel Armia's potential and stopped him from disappearing the second day of back-to-back games, i'm pretty sure we'll see Josh's and Rafael's numbers go up again.
7:24 gally was indeed a captain to many of us and surely would have been the next cap if weber wasnt such a damned beast-mode UNIT!
Not to knock minny, but the only reason kaprizov fell that far was because he stated he'd never come over and play in the nhl lol
I remember Wideman for catching an edge in the shootout and looking ridiculous
I know it’s just a typo but I love how “Deon Levi” sounds!
Damn it lol, did not notice that. 😂
Nikita grebyonkin I think could be a steal. He is a Leafs 5th rounder from 2022. He was very good while winning the Gagarin Cup.
If only you started this list with the '99 draft...
My GOAT Zetterberg
Pekka Rinne definitely doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his career and so overlooked by many
Theo Fleury is a big one
Sure skip 1998 and 1999 which would have to be Datsyuk and Zetterberg /s. Haha good video man, can't really argue with any of your picks
You should have made a series of this. Biggest of every draft but make a video per round
Batherson got robbed of a spot being the 121st pick and the 5th round started at 125 in 2017
9 days in a row is crazy
brendan gallagher is a not a captain nick is
Utah yeti legend maks szuber
Come on with the Wideman stuff. The dude got absolutely obliterated right before that and wasn't thinking right. It's not like he went predator mode trying to kill a man. He got hurt, likely concussed and was trying to shake off cobwebs and the ref surprised him so he put his hands up to defend himself. It was a terrible thing that happened but there's no chance it was on purpose.
Everytime i hear someone talk shit about Wideman, I get pissed. You get your bell rung that hard and you are out of it. He was looking down and not really watching where he was going and the ref backed into him and took him by surprise. He put his stick up. I think he got screwed on that suspension.
Dustin Wolf should have been the pick for 2019, and this is coming from an Oilers fan
Still hasn't proven himself at the nhl level
Can you do a video on red wings draft steals
Xhekaj should count for 2021!
With all respect to Forsling, 2014 biggest steal should be Igor Shesterkin picked in the 4th round #118 overall. Top 3 goaltender the past 5 years and will be years to come
5th round and below. So Igor no matter how great, didn't qualify.
@@jimmyzarkis6276 aah okay my bad. Had just woke up when I watched it so didn't pay too much attention I guess lol👍
Penguins 2023 5th rounder Mikhail Ilyin is looking like a steal, 18 yo and was 1/2 ppg in the KHL!
