    Thing to keep in mind, this video pitches that Idaho is the one coming up with the idea and Oregon was talked into it. This is an Oregon initiative of rural Oregon citizens who feel their voices are not being heard politically and want to merge with Idaho where most rural Oregon citizens align with more politically.
    Basically, the more Right leaning rural Oregon people are not being heard or represented by the more Left leaning western Oregon citizens. Similarly, California Left leaning overpower the Right leaning citizens, so they feel their voices are not being heard politically.
    And the answer is not always "move away if you don't like it," unfortunately.

      Isn't this basically exactly that though? But instead of moving themselves, they're moving the state and massively redrawing electoral college votes and districts. And would the people who support this be as equally supportive if the major cities of Texas left and formed their own entity or entities? Austin in particular is VERY left leaning, but other big cities mostly lean left too. Hell, why even have states? Just lump everyone back together and erase the lines entirely (this actually sorta ended up feeling like a good idea once I typed it lol)

Oregon ain't special in terms of urban centers making the laws that work for 90% of the residents, but 10% of rural folks hate it. If we start rearranging state borders to conform to voting populations, it'd be chaos, and you'd end up with California wanting to be 4 states... they already do and have tried to break into 2-4 parts since the 90s. probably should have been talking to Washington on that part, since eastern washington is very similar politically to northern idaho, which is still pretty different to southern idaho

    Theres actually a movement in the north of idaho to take parts of eastern Washington, western Montana, and the panhandle of idaho, and make a new state. Since southern idaho doesnt like the north, and vice versa.

    I was about to make a suggestion for a different playlist for each state, but then I realized just how much of a headache that would be to maintain, and the fact would be that you would be adding videos to multiple playlists and sometimes retroactively. Not to mention that if you ever had to take a video down, it would make every playlist somewhat invalid and until you removed that video from the playlist. So, while it's a nice idea, I completely understand why that's not the case. That being said, as somebody from Idaho, it's nice to see a video about Idaho.

      that's because its not, moving state borders, even just a few feet is incredibly complex forget moving them the hundred or so MILES that this plan would call for, and the whole thing would cost Idaho literally billions of dollars to buy all that land from Oregan, NEITHER state legislature is even talking about it

    • @Flutergirl1124
      @Flutergirl1124 2 года назад

      @@shadowdemonzero It was something that was talked about for a while in Idaho. It was called the Greater Idaho movement. While it fell through, it was still talked about for quite some time last year. I should know since I live in Idaho. Plus, a simple online search pulls up dozens of pages of informaiton on the movement.
