You make a good point about the bezel inserts. I happen to like aluminum bezels more than ceramic bezels, unless it's matte ceramic. So I'll always prefer the "worse" aluminum bezels just as we all prefer "worse" mechanical timekeepers lol!
loooool thats right mechanical watches are worse tome keepers indeed! Same here i tend to prefer aluminum bezels but thats only because i dont like the look of matte black dials (basically dark gray dials) paired with a deep black and shiny ceramic bezel. This combo is way too common and I'm not at all a fan. And plus its fun trying to bleach aluminum bezel to ghost them 😁
Couldn’t agree more. I find shiny ceramic far too blingy and distracting as it picks up so much glare. A matte aluminum bezel makes the dial pop a lot more.
My first actual dive watch was the King Turtle in green and I was still debating whether or not to keep it and/or get a Slim Turtle. Now I now that I need both, you can never have too many Seikos after all! I'd put my newly acquired original blue Tropic strap on the Citizen! Would be a perfect match and who doesn't love a vanilla scent when looking at your wrist? Lol
My next dive watch needs to be a black dial with a “tool watch” vibe. I have a few divers but my black dial I have is the oris aquis 400 caliber. I love it but it’s very polished (once again I love that too). I definitely try to match my watches to my outfit a lot of times and sometimes the polished surfaces don’t go as well as an all brushed surface. Got my eyes on the spb143!
oh man an aquis has been on my list for years now! The caliber 400 variants are awesome and makes it much more tempting but it does have a lot of polish for sure. The SPB143 would be a perfect companion piece it can play the tool watch role and it can be dressed up easily. Not to mention that it can actually be worn with straps lol! As great as the aquis bracelet is, not being able to swap straps as easily has been a pretty big minus point for me, although not as big now
I like both and I have a King Turtle....and love it. This more expensive version is nice. If it were 100 bucks more I'd buy it. It doesn't seem special enough or enough of a step up for almost double the price.
Great video as always. As far as Seiko's go I'd pick the King Turtle. The slim one looks cool and the proportions are spot on but I don't like the date window. When it comes to Promaster I'd like to try it on Uncle Seiko velcro or US rubber cause Citizen rubber straps are pretty usually pretty stiff, at least the ones I've tried so far were.
Strapcode hexacode is the one I like the most of aftermarket bracelets. Waiting for my king turtle now and will buy that bracelet to try in the nearest future. For the citizen strap, I’d go with nato.
The original 6309 Turtle had a rounded case shape. As much as I want to like the SRP777 (owned one) and the King Turtle, the elongated and bigger case ruins its looks. It seems that seiko took parts of its inspiration for the modern Turtles from the 6105-8000. You can see it when you place the watches side by side. I think you made a good choice keeping the Slim Turtle.
Congrats on the 10k milestone! You've become one of my favorite watch youtubers! If I won the Citizen, I'd put it on a nice black rubber strap for some more sporty versatility!
Both watches could coexist in a collection as you’ve mentioned - the King T would do for me but that’s just my personal preference, both awesome watches. Congrats on the 10k and I’d put the Citizen on one of my Helm Komodo rubber straps 👍
Nice video WI, It’s a tough choice but I’d pick the turtle because of the dial. The pro master I’d try it on a leather tanned strap since I ain’t going diving with it. Keep up the good work
cant go wrong with gray natos! i was sooooo tempted to try out my grey natos on it but i didnt want to potentially scratch it. man i wish it had drilled lugs!
Congratulations on the 10K !!!Great comparison of the two!!! I’d definitely be stumped on which to keep, but leaning to the King Turtle on value. Also kinda like the slightly larger size, and would remove the cyclops to clean up the look a bit. As for the Citizen, I’d either put it on a NATO, or search out one of their metal bracelets that has the nifty extension built in. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing more 👍👍👍
I'll go for the King Turtle, just because of the sapphire crystal. And for the citizen, i'll keep it on the factory strap and go for a sailcloth from time to time to dress it up
I think you made the choice with the slim turtle. Looks great! If I had the Citizen, I’d put one of the new bracelets Marc at Long Island recently released for the pro divers. Congratulations on 10k! Love your content!
Great video as always! I would have to go with the king turtle as I have been wanting one for quite awhile. As far as the Citizen goes, I think a blue rubber strap like the one in the video would be sweet! Great content!!
Enjoy your reviews, 10k is just the start! If I won I’d put an uncle Seiko GL831 rubber strap on, which always brings out that vintage diver feel of a watch.
I have the 313, I love it, my only complaint is that it runs slow. Haven’t gotten around to regulating it. Definitely need to try out a “true” Turtle. The Citizen I would probably put on a MN strap! Great video!
Love the Slim Turtle! Just picked up a black land tortoise and I love the slim cushion design 😊. I would pair the pro diver with a navy blue seatbelt nato strap! Single pass for slimness haha
Agreed! i still wear my black dial promaster on the factory strap although i had to mold it with boiling water lol! I wish this new version still had the no deco table but I know i'm in the minority there. Thanks for your support!
There really is a Seiko for everyone. Brilliant video. Have you looked at Christopher Ward watches? I'm seriously considering getting a C60. Cheers. BTW I'd wear the Citizen on a NATO.
Seiko's doing good things these days! Yeah I actually owned the C60 Sapphire Black! it was an absolutely incredible watch but i had to return it because i needed money to get my Black Bay 58 925. I really want to get another CW tho because they're on another level. Yeah the Promaster looks and feels great on natos, its a strap monster!
I like the new turtle and I was going to buy one but it all changed for me when CW released the new C60 Pro 300. CW won me over Seiko. Seiko needs to up their game if they want to fend off the competitions. They need to overhaul their bracelet and clasp quality.
Congrats on 10k. I recently purchased a king turtle manta ray and it’s stunning I also have the SPB151 Willard and yes the turtle is better value for money, but the Willard has an X-Factor. I got the turtle from a private seller on Chrono24, it came with a nato but’s it 20mm😂. It would look well on the Citizen. P.S. I’m also following you on WatchCrunch.
Slim turtle all day. Wouldn’t I still be in love with my 143, it would be a close race between the two. But I’d like to see the slim’s bezel on the 143 actually 🤔 I think the ProMaster would go on a grey parachute Nato. In my mind, that’ll look great together with the blue.
ooooo the slim turtle bezel on a SPB143 is an interesting combo that i havent thought of before! I'm liking it, it would add an extra punch of vintagey vibes. yeah a gray nato would be awesome on the promaster, i reallllly wanted to try out my gray natos on it but i didnt want to risk scratching it. If only it had drilled lugs!
Thing about the King Turtle is it offers great value with the specs and that dial, not always a given with Seiko these days...Mine was £365 on the rubber, the black with a bracelet was £70 more, thats alot for a Seiko bracelet, im gonna mod the date away too.
Yeah it packs in the value for sure but yeah mines a tiny bit misaligned at the 6 o clock position, thankfully its nothing serious. But yeah as a base to mod, the king turtle saves a bunch of money since the ceramic insert and sapphire crystal are included. saves more money to spend on a strapcode bracelet or to change up the date window like you!
Thanks for the video. I think that everyone who has a smaller wrist than you do needs to take a serious look at the Slim Turtle. I have 7.25" wrists, which are .25" smaller than yours, and it certainly will fit better. Actually, the maximum recommended watch case size for the 7.25" wrist is 43" as far as I have read. Besides: s Slim Turtle looks more elegant and sophisticated to me, while a King Turtle looks more bulky, sort of "red necky" to me. So one with the smaller wrists should consider these arguments, besides in the Slim Turtle Seiko used a better movement.
I really like the 313 or its black variant, I just don’t like Seikos bracelets. They definitely have to pay more attention to bracelets and clasps especially at that price point. As for the citizen I would definitely go for a fkm rubber strap!
congratulation on the passing the 10k mark. i already owned a few 44mm seiko dive watches and i think the slim turtle is a great alternative. for the citizen, as a bracelet guy i would love it on a bracelet but any any dive watch would feel nice to wear with a FKM strap.
So far my history with the Turtle is I had the SRP777, sold it, missed it and picked up this grenade dial King Turtle. The grenade dial was so horribly misaligned I sold it and picked up a perfectly aligned SRPF77 "Dark Manta" which I love especially on an Uncle Seiko Z199 bracelet. The bad news is I still kind of want a black dial Turtle so the slim Turtle in black is attractive to me but it is $1100 🙁 For the citizen diver I'd be on the lookout for a bracelet option probably.
Seems like you like seiko turtles lol! I'm really tempted by the dark manta bc the color of the dial looks so good and seikos rubber straps are always super comfy. to me in pictures the dial looks to be a muted dial which i like a lot but whats it actually like in treal life? Keep looking bc these slim turtles can be found for 900 ish, I got mine from Gnomon watches for 865 and the experience was awesome bc you can have them check for alignment issues beforehand!
@@thewatchidiot Thanks for the tip, I've used Gnomon before they are pretty good. In real life the Dark Manta is muted but when the light hits it right is really sparkles nicely. I added the z199 from Uncle Seiko and I really like the extreme taper from 22 to 16mm it really adds comfort imo
Good comparison, Slim turtle for me, thanks for highlighting this model, had no idea till now it existed, gone a bit cold on Seiko lately but this might change my mind..... Subscribed!
I love Citizen watches, and the one you are giving away is absolutely beautiful. Happy with whatever strap it comes on if lucky enough to win it. Glad I found your channel !
The date on the slim turtle really throws me off so it’s not for me, for the strap I’d get a navy sailcloth strap feel like that’s best. Keep up the content 🔥
Congrats again on 10K! The Citizen would probably wind up on one of my FKM straps. Like the stock one, but really enjoy the FKMs I have on my larger divers.
And thank you once again! an FKM strap would work very nicely on this one and it would probably be unbelievably comfortable! (also i sent you an email just now😁)
Congratulations for the 10k. I would much prefer the slim turtle because of my slim wrist and the much nicer bracelet. As for the citizen watch , I would find a much nicer rubber/fkm strap.
Great vid and both stunning watches. My choice of strap for the citizen Promaster would be an orange isofrane style strap, that would really set it off a treat! Thank you. :)
Thanks for this mate, great comparison between these turtle models. As for the giveaway, I would pair the pro master with a grey nato strap to match that grey-blue dial!
Love the Slim Turtle and the white dial, great bracelet too, really suits it. For the Citizen I would stick to factory strap to begin with, too often I have bought a strap for a watch before the watch even arrives!. Lately I tend to try it on the strap the manufacturer designed for it and then if it has some shortcoming I can't get over I will change it.
Great vid! I think you just sold me on the slim turtle (as I’m even wearing my king turtle with removed cyclops👌🏼). I’d put an isofrane rubber on the Promaster, but I do love the oem strap with iconic n.d. chart.
Great video and congrats on a 10k subs... Regarding Citizen, it would have to be either steel or rubber bracelet, no third option 😂😂😂 I know strapcode have some great bracelets for Seiko, maybe something similar!😉
In a recent trip I tried the slim turtle, and man is just so freaking versatile, sadly they didn’t have a king turtle, but if you want a versatile seiko diver the slim turtle is just perfect, I’d say, with your dial configuration it can even be a dress diver, so form the slim just wins due to the versatility
It really is super versatile, i love it on the bracelet and on a gray nato but i tried it on a grey leather strap and it worked out pretty well which was a nice discovery!
10K, nice job Sir ! As far as the type of strap for the Promaster, l would have to go with a StrapsCo Waffle. They just suit the watch so well and are great on wrist. Luck to all and thanks for the opportunity to win.
Great video and congrats on the 10k! Would go for the slim turtle, I like the case and brushing much more + I'm not a fan of a date cyclopse. The Citizen would go on a FKM rubber strap!
I'm all about those smaller dimensions, regular turtle's are just on my limit so a dmaller option is great. As for the strap choice on the promaster, I would go with a blue sailcloth from Artem, a very robust combo.
Great video! I saw the white dial seiko recently and its a lovely looking watch. As for the citizen, i would be super boring and pair it with a grey nato lol. I don't own a blue dial in my collection so perhaps this would be a new obsession if i liked it.
I like the slim Turtle better overall. Don't like Seiko's execution of the day/date feature on both. The Citizen Promaster looks great on the factory strap.
A great comparison TWI. I would have to agree with your conclusion to keep the slim turtle though. To me apart from the size it's just a little more readable at a glance. I'm not a huge fan of the candy bar date magnifier either even though. The slim turtle has the date at 4:30 it's so much more discreet yet functional and distracts less from the overall symmetry of the watch. Onto the colour scheme, well I love the Omega SM300M great white and the slim turtle looks like it should work just as well.
Thanks as always! And you're absolutely right about the slim turtle being more legible, i think it has to do with the simplicity vs the busier King turtle despite the king turtle having the more traditionally legible combo (black dial/white indices). The black dial Seamaster 300M has been on my radar to rebuy for ages now but now my experience with this slim turtle is making me consider the white dial Seamaster! (also i just sent you an email sorry about the delay!!)
@@thewatchidiot I think the 300M looks great with either the black or white dial. I've not seen one but the new green dial allegedly looks great but I'll be sticking with the white.
I'd put the Citizen on a grey nato :-) I also look forward to seeing the slim turtle with a better movement in it in future editions otherwise I'd buy a vintage one.
Man, I just love the turtle/king turtle design, even for my small wrist. The slim turtle doesn't do anything for me, especially that date. It feels like an afterthought. The Citizen would go best with an Erika's original. They are the best. Great video!
Seiko did well with the design on the King Turtle! For me i actually love the 430 date because they put in the effort to line up the date wheel at an angle and it keeps all the lume plots full size which is a plus point for me! I've been meaning to get an erikas original strap for a really long time now but i never got around to it but thanks for the reminder lol bc the promaster would be so comfy on one of those straps!
Hey @thewatchidiot! Where do you order your seikos? I’m having a difficult time finding the turtles anywhere online! Love your page btw, awesome content!
Nice comparison, thank you. What do you think of comparing the slim turtle with one of the 42mm Willards? When I got my Willard it took all the wrist time from my turtle. 😁
For me, it’s the slim turtle (although you can pull both off) all day. The color combo and that “traffic light” seconds hand are just too cool.
King Turtle all the way, for the day/date function alone.
The king turtle has so much going on. I don’t have any issue with the wide bracelet only narrowing to 20mm - I like ‘‘em chunky.
This is precisely why I watch your channel. Unvarnished assessments. Well done!
I think aluminum bezels look much better than ceramic, and scratches, although I try to avoid them, add patina to a watch which I really appreciate.
lol I'm the same, i want my keepers to have more scratches but despite my best efforts i subconsciously keep babying them!
Patina is the worst
Bezel scratches look like garbage, as do dial scratches.
I’m also hoping the newer bezels eventually fade too
I've got the king turtle very happy with it. Would consider the slim turtle but for the price.stick with the factory strap on the citizen.
Lol
Always keep the first one. It's the special one. Afterwards they are just number unless bought for occasion
Lets go with the factory strap for the Citizen.
The slim turtle is on my list! Love the bracelet.😊

Digging the Slim Turtle. Good choice. Honestly, that stock Citizen strap looks pretty sweet!
Nice video WI, It’s a tough choice but I’d pick the turtle because of the dial. The pro master I’d try it on a leather tanned strap since I ain’t going diving with it. Keep up the good work
I would wear that Citizen on nice grey NATO....I think that combo would look AWESOME!!
cant go wrong with gray natos! i was sooooo tempted to try out my grey natos on it but i didnt want to potentially scratch it. man i wish it had drilled lugs!
@@thewatchidiot yeah drilled lugs is something I wish more watches had. More of that and less quick release springbars

Great comparison. I would Try it on a tropics Rubber strap.
10K, nice job Sir !
As far as the type of strap for the Promaster, l would have to go with a StrapsCo Waffle. They just suit the watch so well and are great on wrist.
Luck to all and thanks for the opportunity to win.
I’d go with a nato.. followed on watch crunch.. great video! Cheers
I think the thin turtle looks better but not fan of the small date window, but not a deal breaker. Citizen looks great on the stock strap.
I would for sure rock the Promaster on a simple grey nato 👍🏼
Great video and congrats on the 10k! Would go for the slim turtle, I like the case and brushing much more + I'm not a fan of a date cyclopse. The Citizen would go on a FKM rubber strap!
I'm all about those smaller dimensions, regular turtle's are just on my limit so a dmaller option is great. As for the strap choice on the promaster, I would go with a blue sailcloth from Artem, a very robust combo.
I’ll keep it factory! On the strap that came with it and wear it all summer!
The promaster looks great as is, I would probably put it in a blue nato tho
I would wear it on that stock rubber strap! Never had a dive watch and that seems like the OG strap for them anyway.
LOVE the Citizens but never had a Seiko!
A darker blue rally strap might look great with the blue promaster. Never mind those who say we shouldn't put leather straps on divers!
Looks great as is with the factory strap! thank and great channel
Great video as always!! I’d definitely put the Citizen on a Nato or MN style strap, its a tool watch and wants to be used and abused!
I've not seen one but the new green dial allegedly looks great but I'll be sticking with the white.
great review =) For the strap choice on the promaster, I would go with a nato.
I would prefer the smaller one as well BUT I hate the date window. As for the giveaway watch, I'm partial to a good silicone strap.
I'd put the Citizen on a grey nato :-) I also look forward to seeing the slim turtle with a better movement in it in future editions otherwise I'd buy a vintage one.
Nice comparison! I think I’d just wear it on the supplied strap.
Great video.
I would put a steel jubilee on the Promaster diver from Marc at Long Island watch.
Cheers😊
That promaster would go directly on either Black Barton Elite or a silver nato.
Turtles are my favourite !
Yeah, the strap the pro master comes on is great
Great review! I just ordered the slim turtle. What gray textile strap are you using in this video?
Awsome video!!!
I would keep the factory strap!!!
I’d wear the Citizen pro master on a blushark nato :)
A tropic stap would look nice on the citizen pro diver...
thanks for the giveaway TWI! I would stick it on a textureless FKM sstrap
Congrats. I'd switch the Citizen to either a NATO or a rubber without the S bends near the case, I've never liked those.
Hey @thewatchidiot! Where do you order your seikos? I’m having a difficult time finding the turtles anywhere online!
Love your page btw, awesome content!
Slim turtle 😍 for the citizen factory strap please 😁
Nice comparison, thank you. What do you think of comparing the slim turtle with one of the 42mm Willards? When I got my Willard it took all the wrist time from my turtle. 😁
