Great detailed comparison. I ordered both and will see if the weight of the f1.2 is more than I want to deal with. That's really the primary decider for me, as they're so close otherwise.
@@fluxcapacitor3273 They’re sooo close. I was soo tempted to keep the f1.2, just because it was the 1.2 but I went with the f1.4. I found it a hair sharper and the weight difference was noticeable. If you can get past the ‘Fomo’, the f1.4 is the better buy in my opinion. And I felt I would opt to carry it more because of the weight. But I debated a lot on this one.

@@Svoboda1234 they're sooooo close. I found the f1.4GM a hair sharper but the bokeh was definitely better on the f1.2GM. In both cases,you really have to 'look' for it. Otherwise the images blindly were interchangeable. If I shot indoor sports I would have gone with the f1.2. But I carry and travel with my 50mm and the weight difference was enough of a difference in favor of the 1.4GM. Can't go wrong with either.
I own the 1.2 but it’s heavy. I tried it to shoot veil shots and the last wedding I did and i think it’s uncomfortable trying to hold the veil with one hand and the camera and lens with the other. For this reason I would prefer the 1.4 version.
Hi, I think both options are great and there will always be people saying the 1.2 is better while others will swear by the 1.4. The truth is somewhere in between, but without a doubt the 1.4 is the better value, being cheaper & more compact, to a greater degree that it is optically inferior compared to the 1.2. I am not a very strong individual ,therefore, I prefer the 1.4 as well & I never expected this lens to be released after the 1.2, had I known I probably would have waited for the 1.4 instead. For those who shoot video hand held without a doubt the 1.4 is the way to go, cheers.
Not sure what camera you use, but determining the sharpness difference in two GM lenses would require a 50MP sensor at least, maybe even the 61MP sensor of the a7rv. Any less and the lens sharpness will be finer than the pixel resolution and you won't be able to tell the difference. If you see differences it is more likely to be the effect of a slight focus miss. in the corners you may be able to see differences on lower MP sensors Great video! thank you
I’ve never come across one that was, all my ones are Thailand except my 135 which is made in China. It should be normal after all Sony is a Japanese company. As far as I know a great part of their products are manufactured in Thailand now as they moved production from China, but also in Japan of course.
Hi, thanks for that. From my experience it requires long exposure to sunlight so that the camera lens will act like a magnifying glass. Otherwise taking video/photographs of the sun won’t yield any damage, thanks👍

The 50mm 1.4 gm feels like my 24mm 1.4 gm. Very light and forget its there.
Yeah, it’s impressive how close to the 1.2 it is and yet so compact, truly amazing piece of glass.
