The first way is pictures of the clothes by itself. The other way is taking pictures of my clothes with models. I’ll be shooting inside and outside sometimes. I purchased the 35GM three weeks and it is my new favorite lens. I also have the 135GM which I simply adore on my A74. The 50GM is my next purchase when the monies come in hahaha. Thanks for the video. Also, I heard there is a revamp of thee 85GM coming at the end f this year or next year. Should I wait for that one or do you think the current 85GM still holds its on weight?
Ill be honest and say this video only made it harder to decide between the two! I have both the lenses reviewed in this video. I do automotive photography and both perform exceptionally well. I considered switching my 35mm f1.4 and going to the 24mm GM (can go to 35mm in APS-C) mode. My opinion on the 35mm is it is a safe lens, it'll do exactly what you want it to do and perform at a high level. I feel the 50mm just adds a bit more personality and can really tell a different story. Provides a bit more character at that focal length (obviously this is debatable, just my opinion) and can capture more exclusive shots than every other 35mm shooter. There's really no wrong answer, its based off your preference and how you want to capture the event. Good luck everyone!
What did you decide on? I use an APS-C camera but planning on getting the equivalent focal length. I have the same thoughts on the 35mm being the safe and all arounder lens but IMO both the 24mm and 50mm just destroy it when they are used at their fullest potential. Feels like the 35mm sits at an awkward spot. However, I'll gladly take it if I could only have one prime lens for the rest of my life due its innate flexibility.
I pre-ordered the 50 1.2 as soon as it was announced in the states. I team it up with the Sigma 35 1.2 for these focal lengths in my kit. Sigma seems to cast a warmer tone than the GM, but the bokeh and sharpness of these two are stellar.

It’s called Real Time Tracking AF and it’s the bottom one on the focus area list “Tracking”. Then when you focus on something on hold shutter half pressed it should lock on the subject
yes, nice to see the shots but when you have top of the line body's, that have ridiculous tracking, it's not really the lens that is doing the work, so as much as this is a great video, I'd love to see the lenses working on "affordable" A73/A74 body's

f/1.2 will only be a 1/3 stop of extra light compared to f/1.4. I'd say that 35 is more of a all around lens, as you can do more with it. 50 might be difficult indoors / in tight spaces. What do you mainly shoot?
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer I have shot everything in a previous life but now run street, portrait and wildlife with my 200-600mm. I returned the 35, grabbed a 50 and immediately noticed the difference and love it.
I love the small size and balanced performance of this 35mm f1.4. However, the 50mm f1.2 is heavy, bulky but the images from this lens are different from other Sony lenses. The sharp yet somewhat creaming classical lines, the neutral color, the beautiful film like transition of shadow and the crisp & soft edge to edge clarity, it really rivals well with the much more expensive and heavier Hasselblad 80mm XCD. This 50mm is a constant on my camera.
Is it worth getting the 50mm rather than the 35mm GM? I was thinking to upgrade my sigma art 1.4 35mm. but dont know yet haha. The 35 GM looks much better than mine

Oh please please stop it... I decided few weeks ago for 35mm after hours of reviews. Thought about 24mm too. Now I'm struggling again ;-) 50mm 1,2 is so amazing but a bit more expensive as well. Hmm, I hope Sony will not announce the next big small lens again. Cannot buy all of them... even if I would like. I have the same issue in my head as He Xu mentioned: 35mm + 50mm will be maybe to close to each other. Thanks for your great videos. Why they are great? Because they are showing real graet pictures instead of test sheets or bank notes zoomed in... Thank you & dzieki again ;-)
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer I was really fencing between these two. I ended up going with the 50 because it's kinda "special", and I like its size and weight on the a1.
However, I'll gladly take it if I could only have one prime lens for the rest of my life due its innate flexibility.
if you only keep one, which one you prefer?
what do you think about focus breathing on gm 35?
It’s definitely visible, but I’m glad that it’s corrected on A7IV!
Could an 85mm f1.2 GM be in store for 2022? The current model is in need of an update.
I hope so!
Beautiful images. I’m considering the gym 50 f1.2. I shoot weddings and portrait
I pre-ordered the 50 1.2 as soon as it was announced in the states. I team it up with the Sigma 35 1.2 for these focal lengths in my kit. Sigma seems to cast a warmer tone than the GM, but the bokeh and sharpness of these two are stellar.
Lovely duo!
Amazing pictures 😻
15:33 What an amazing photo!
I have sony a6400 and my cousin have wedding this coming jan 8, is that ok my cam to use? Coz she wants me to be photographer to save money,, can you help me about focusing thank you
Yo I also have a a6400 camera. How did the wedding photos go?
Hello how to lock the auto focus
It’s called Real Time Tracking AF and it’s the bottom one on the focus area list “Tracking”. Then when you focus on something on hold shutter half pressed it should lock on the subject
Also is anyone doing any good videos on the a7iv setting. I'm new to this whole thing
Love your videos, amazing images.
@0:48 That's a wouw picture!!! But with what lens...?
Thanks! That’s from 50/1.2GM
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer and i thought i didnt like the 50 mm format.....smiley face. Im thinking about buying the 35mm GM....but the price........
yes, nice to see the shots but when you have top of the line body's, that have ridiculous tracking, it's not really the lens that is doing the work, so as much as this is a great video, I'd love to see the lenses working on "affordable" A73/A74 body's
I’ve used these lenses for over a year with dual A7IV setup and the experience was flawless!
1:47 you mean aperture ring?
Correct! Thanks!
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer np. Thanks for your videos. I always enjoy them.
How did you focus both the bride and groom in that chapel photos infringe of priest and get priest out of focus
everythign youve shared here is soooooo soooo f-ing impressive! Im using a canon 5dmk4, and it makes me soooo envious of your face-tracking feature on the sony a1 hahaha! was watching this cos im deciding between these two focal lengths, and this video rly helped. IM SO INSPIRED! (you've just rekindled the passion of this Singaporean photographer!) Thank you!
35mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.2 right now, waiting for 85mm 1.2
Dream combo man, I use it too but the 135mm shares some of the limelight!
Class work my friend 🙌🏼
My favorite lens is the Nikon 105mm. Love everything about that focal length. It’s just hard to use often. So 50 gets most of the play.
Thank you 🙌 Yeah, 135GM is a gem, sometimes I wish I had it in my backpack!
For choosing a single all around with the R4a what would you consider. Have the 35 1.4gm currently but eyeing the 50 for a full stop extra light.
f/1.2 will only be a 1/3 stop of extra light compared to f/1.4.
Couldn't agree more 👍🏿
Is it worth getting the 50mm rather than the 35mm GM? I was thinking to upgrade my sigma art 1.4 35mm. but dont know yet haha. The 35 GM looks much better than mine
Hi Magic...i look forward for an entire wedding behind the scene ( most important parts from event) :) thanks
*whispers* I'm going to purchase the presets
Just wow! Those colours are absolutely amazing. I've been thinking to upgrade my sigma art 35mm, but I'm using a mc11 adapter for my Sony A7RIII. Would you think this will be a good upgrade? Or will it be better to just get the 50mm and keep sigma instead. Great video
With 2 cameras it’s going to be 35 and 85 great video 👍
Great combo :) Thanks!
Thank you & dzieki again ;-)
haha sorry for messing with your head! Still, if I would be to pick one of these, 35 is more versatile!
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer
OK, now I ordered one (35mm). I will visit you when my pictures will not be as good as yours ;-)
hello brother iam raja from india wedding videographer very use full
Wish these had macro
Instead of sharp, bokeh, I’d like lens reviews to focus on color rendition, the artistic feel. I am sure they will be sharp.
That’s why I’m showing lots of real life examples that I like, so you can judge the artistic feel yourself as it’s much more subjective.
I don't mind less sharpness and more character
A Sony ambassador won't have any bias, of course! ;) Your results may vary.
First one to comment!
Haha thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed the content!
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer I was really fencing between these two. I ended up going with the 50 because it's kinda "special", and I like its size and weight on the a1. I might also get a 35 if 50 feels not wide enough sometimes - we will see. For context, I recently just started trying out portraits. Before that, I'm always using telephoto lenses :)
Just a tip, if you're going to show the pictures leave them on the screen for more than a millionth of a second so we can see them
Got the lenses and went back. Badest focus breathing I've ever seen. Sony should be ashamed. Whoever asks that much money should have it under control.
Lol which one?
Have g master 24-70 lens was thinking getting this 35 mm next but comments here are saying no sticking with my 24 lens now I know the 24 lens has better blur probably than my 24-70mm
Now I see some like 24-59 lens
but all you professional shooters are what would you go with for shooting video? What would be your next lens? I want a lens where I can go even closer and tighter and being super sharp focus and I wanted to be a G master lens.. Thanks
