I never cry but hearing they called the baby after the truck driver, just had me in tears. That man was in the right place at the right time and for sure saved the babies life

As a premature baby myself, I have scars on my scalp from IV access points, I remember being weirded out as a kid by seeing photos of myself in an incubator with tubes and IV lines everywhere. As an adult, I'm super grateful to the people whom dedicated a little over three months to keeping myself and my twin sister alive in incubators. We weighed just under 4 pounds combined, I was a pound and a half while my twin was a little under two and a half pounds.
Holy shit, I didn't know it was possible to be born that small! Sounds like you and your sister are lucky to be alive!
@@SarcasticCupcake223 We are extremely lucky. The doctors told my mom my twin had a 1% chance to survive and I had a 0.5% chance to survive. We are both doing well as adults, with very few health issues, which is pretty lucky in my opinion.

I was diagnosed with pcos as a teenager and told more than likely I will never conceive a baby. Now I'm almost 38 years old and 36 weeks pregnant with my THIRD child.
And this is why my husband got a vasectomy 8 years ago regardless of my PCOS 😂

PCOS is not birth control. Women with PCOS get pregnant all the time. (It's just that trying/timing is a little more complicated.) PCOS is also somewhat overdiagnosed.
I'm not sure why so many people on this show seem to think a PCOS diagnosis = permanent infertility.

I had PCOS and couldnt get pregnant for 7 years. I went on the Atkin's diet, lost about 70 pounds over a year and my periods returned to normal. Between very regular cycles it was Christimas I took a trip from Japan to Denver with my husband and another family and I left them in Denver and flew up to North Dakota to visit some relatives for a few days by myself. While I was in North Dakota, I fell asleep at about 3 in the afternoon and kept sleeping and sleeping. I woke up very confused as it was pitch dark and I thought I had taken a short nap! I went downstairs and said I must have been sleeping for at least 5 hours...they said, actually more like 18 hours! My flight out of there was cancelled and we had to rush to another down in huge snow drifts to catch another plane. When I boarded the plane, I was completely out of breath and was seated next to an elderly woman who was a spitting image of my deceased grandmother. She looked right at me and said "what happened to you?" I told her my flight was cancelled out of Devil's Lake and Had to rush to Grand Forks to catch this plane because I needed to get home to Denver and back to Tokyo in two days! She got an angry look on her face and said "listen to me young lady, when you are carrying a child you need to BE CAREFUL!!!! YOu can't do this to your body young lady! I tell you what, is your Grandmother here? Because if she ain't I am telling you on behalf of her...you stay PUT when you are carrying a child because that baby is precious!!! YOU UNDERSTAND?????" I was shocked. I Didn't even look pregnant....Hahaha. I had just lost 50 pounds and was as thin as the day I graduated high school.....i told her "No...I am not pregnant." She insisted I was. Got back to Denver that day, flew back to Japan and low and behold, I was pregnant!!! I had conceived the day we left for the USA..LOL.

Grandmothers are awesome, sadly my maternal grandmother had Parkinson and passed when I was 10, and I never knew my paternal grandparents as my father was adopted.

Yes grannies can tell whose pregnant and not...same as my husband's granny..she's the one who told me im pregnant, and i told her not yet..😂 but then I took a pregnancy test and Yes we have now our precious little one..
My mom is really good at telling when actresses were pregnant during filming mostly because they look heavier in the face.
I work for WIC and have had a few moms get really shy and quiet when I ask about alcohol intake for PRAMS questions & I always always always remind them “. You didn’t know you were pregnant. you did the best you could with the information you had at the time” and I think they find it comforting that I’m not immediately freaking out that they drank alcohol when they didn’t know they were pregnant.
And you are a true blessing to those girls.

To all the mamas who had a baby and didn’t know they were pregnant: everything you feel is valid, but just know how you feel isn’t always accurate. Like MDJ says “you did the best you could with the information you had” and you cannot blame yourself for that situation. Be kind to yourself 💕

I have PCOS and I got pregnant my second ever try lol. It always drives me crazy when people with PCOS are led to believe they can't get pregnant!
I was told by an obgyn from looking at my sonogram I would need ivf to get pregnant and i just started believing it ten years later… but my moms friend whose a former obgyn nurse said that her boss told this lady she went thru menopause and came back pregnant…
Seriously my childhood friend was only born with one ovary as well as some other medical stuff I'm not 100% sure of and her doctor basically told her it would be really difficult for her to become pregnant.
Guess who became a teen Mom because she thought she didn't need condoms or birth control because she thought she was infertile 🙄🙄

PCOS, endometriosis, Hashimoto's and obesity, here *wave" I have four kids, three from my own body, two of them born when I was 38 and 43. When I had my last child, my OBGYN told me my tubes were too shredded to be tied... A lot of people would assume I couldn't get pregnant, and stay pregnant to term, but I did.
I have PCOS and my cycles can be 6 months long. I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 12 weeks, but thanks to MDJ I took a test and couldn't believe it was positive! We had been trying for 2.5 years and in 7 weeks I get to meet my baby girl! 🥰

When my first was born the doc kept goin into the back room with nurses and whispering when I would ask what was wrong he was always so calm and would say something along the lines of "don't worry jus push" or "he'll be out soon" later on..well after birth...is when I found out they kept loosing his heart beat but even more frightening is the fact that not only was he sunny side up but also had his cord wrapped round his lil throat....baby boy is now 6, chunky and healthy ❤❤

My doctor told me I would probably never have kids when they told me I had pcos- I had been with my husband for 10 years- went in for a yearly check- I was 61/2 months pregnant and it was the same Dr who told me I could not conceive-Drew is a healthy 12 yr old ❤❤

Currently 36 weeks pregnant with my “it’s unlikely you’ll ever be able to get and stay pregnant” baby. Listen to MDJ, there’s always a chance unless you’re missing your ovaries. 😭 also I will add I’m very happy about this. But even wanting a child, being pregnant when you are told you weren’t ever going to be is a very bizarre feeling.
I have this....and after having a couple cysts rupture I actually found out I had it because it sent me to the hospital. I was in so much pain I couldn't walk. Was with my partner 10 years we never used protection. After that three months later I got pregnant. Never got pregnant again. Never say never.
I watched this episode when I was extremely young (8-10) and I was like “pffftt I would never not know that I’m pregnant” fast forward 10 years and I’m getting checked for cysts and they find a 17wk foetus ahahahahah. This episode was the first thing I thought of after the hysterical crying stopped lol.

Thanks for explaining why breech deliveries are dangerous. I knew that they were but never fully understood why it causes so much damage to the baby.

This story just reminded me about the litter of puppies I delivered last month. The first puppy was breech, the third came out before the second's placenta, and I was home alone the week before exams started. The mum and all of the pups are fine, and just now starting to find their feet.
sometimes tiny babies can surprise you. my little brother was about 4 pounds and blue (grandad, jokingly, said he looked like a skinned rabbit).....hes now 35, almost 6 feet tall and built like a tank
Our baby girl was early and only weighed 5.15. She just turned 9,and is only a couple inches shorter than I am lol

My Dad weighed 3 pounds and 19 inches long. My grandma said he looked like a string bean. The doctor said to take him home to die. He was 6 ft. 3 and 250 pounds. 💜. I miss my Dad. 😢.
On the flip side I knew this girl who was super short and thin. She said she was a 10 lb baby 😂😂
My little sister was 2.5 pounds and today she is a healthy normal 10 year old. No health problems.

It is silly, lol...I learnt the fact about the kneecaps, when oldest child was like 7 and told her, she will get her kneecaps in three years! She remembered and on her 10th birthday told everyone, she got her kneecaps today. 🤣

As someone who was also told due to PCOS as an early teen that I couldn't have kids... I cried seeing the actors face. It reminded me of how I felt. I wanted nothing more out of life except to have a baby. After the run ins with my health I have chosen not to have any, adoption or otherwise. There are so many genetic health issues in my family... I can't pass that down. I treat my cats like my babies and that's good enough for me. That pain is real. I found out at 15 and I'll be 31 soon. Finding something else I wanted out of life was hard but I have it now. So, if you are reading this, and this happened to you too...
It's not the end of the world. If you want to be a momma there are other ways to be a momma. Animals, plants, you can even be a work mom or the mom friend! You are valid and you can show that instinct in many other ways.
Thank you for the frequent pregnancy test validation!!! I have PCOS and I have taken so many while not even being super worried about being pregnant, but if I mention them offhandly to my friends they're always like, "wait, WHAT?" It's not always a big deal!!!!!!
My brother is a truck driver so it's really heartwarming to see the kind souls out there on the road get the appreciation they deserve
Right after high school graduation, my father was transferred to an Air Force base overseas. So, I drove from upstate New York near the Canadian border to South Carolina, to stay the summer with my grandmother. My father advised me to stop for gas and rest at truck stops. At the first stop, I ate at the counter and talked with a couple of drivers who also had kind eyes and were about my parents' age. I had truck drivers looking after me as guardian angels all the way to my destination. 😊
When I was going on a road trip that would last a few days my grandfather, who was a trucker for decades made sure to research with all of his buddies the safest driving routes for my friend and I to take so we would be safe. Every trucker I've met have been real sweat hearts.

I feel so bad that the mom had to go through all this trauma because she was given the wrong information when diagnosed with PCOS
I feel so bad when these women get told blatant lies by their doctors surrounding their fertility and end up having emergency babies because they weren’t given the right information
I am almost 65 years old, but when I watch your videos, I am back in my twenties, having two babies. No not at once, but two years apart. You make me feel like I'm back in those years, and I thank you for that. Having my children was pure glory for me. I too had polycystic ovaries, but thank God, he blessed me with two healthy children. I want to tell you that you are brilliant! I love the care and empathy you have for your patients. Sure wish you could have been around 40+ years ago! Well ok, never mind. I could never take the time to watch you if that were the case! Thank you MDJ!
I use to watch this show and ask how is it possible to not know your pregnant?!? and here I am with my 1 year old that I went through 7 almost 8 months without knowing I was pregnant with him.

ugh this one hits me in the feels. we tried for 13 years to conceive and gave up but I just gave birth to our first child, at the age of 39, 8 weeks ago and I feel so complete now. The feeling of only wanting to be a mommy, and truly believing it would never happen takes a toll on you mentally. I just am happy my birth was not traumatic like this one

I have POCs, endometriosis, adenomyosis. All rare to have young and together. I have hypothyroidism. Hell, my husband had surgery on an undecended testicle. I was told I wouldn't get pregnant without medical intervention.
THANK GOD I was on birth control and only came off to get pregnant. I got pregnant with all three of my kids first try! I have had doctors ask me how the hell I got pregnant.
If you have ovaries and a uterus you have the potential of getting pregnant. Always assume you can get pregnant. I had a hysterectomy and only have a single ovary left and there are times I had to remind myself I can no longer get pregnant.

So glad that the truck driver was there and got involved he saved that baby with that little bit of knowledge he had about birth.
Both my sister and I were breech babies. I came after my mother had been through close to 3 days of labour. My sister came so quickly that the doctor didn't have enough time to get to the hospital; a nurse delivered my sister instead and my sister Is named after this nurse. Later on in life, they discovered that my mother's uterus was almost entirely split in half and we girls were lucky to be delivered alive at all. This is especially true since we were born in the 1950s.
Gosh. That baby will grow up so loved. 🥺 Everyone born deserves that.
First thing my doctor said when I was diagnosed with PCOS was, “Don’t worry; you can still get pregnant.” Not a word on the insulin resistance, which was and is infinitely more relevant to my obese childfree butt. 😔
I was so lucky to have an amazing endocrinologist when I was diagnosed at 14. He told me everything, made sure I was aware that he had patients with PCOS who had 4-5 kids so it could happen and told me all about the insulin resistance. The only isue I had was for years I was never told that low carb was the way to go, they just told me to lose weight and the symptoms would get better. They didnt because I found it impossible on normal diets but as soon as I read about low carb being good for insulin resistance and adjusted my diet, the weight fell off. Seriously underated point that they should always tell young girls in this situation.
I got diagnosed with PCOS (I had high testosterone that’s how they diagnosed) then I lost 50 pounds and went to a healthy weight. I really recommend anyone with PCOS adopt healthy lifestyle habits especially in the food department. Being overweight can make PCOS worse and even cause it. In my case, after I lost weight I no longer had it. But now I’m overweight again so time to adopt those healthy eating habits again. Hopefully this time for good.

I can totally identify. Obese and diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance, we desperately tried to have a baby for 8 years. Once I'd managed to loose over 4 stone, our consultant agreed we could start ivf. The night before our appointment we did a pregnancy test, it was positive... We then had an early pregnancy scan and found out we'd naturally conceived twins!! It can happen, wishing you all the luck in the world xxx
Right? I, a person with family history of diabetes, did not know about insulin resistance until i did my own googling. I was like, "umm, test me please???"
i'm a million percent glad the baby survived and that the mom and dad are doing okay. also, it was thoughtful of them to name the baby after the truck driver that helped them.
When I was a very new nurse, l delivered a premiee in a rural hospital. He weighed 2lbs, 2 oz. I made the mistake of cutting the cord before clamping it. Fortunately I noticed it bleeding, and held it closed with my fingers, and yelled for the nurse's aid to bring me a clamp. (We were in the exam room, far from the delivery room, and the doctor wasn't there yet.) We kept the baby there, tube fed him, and he never even needed oxygen. This was a very small, very rural, one doctor, 27 bed hospital. The only time we had more than two or three patients at a time was when the surgeon came to town once a month.
Last time I checked the baby was 30 years old and a professor.
This episode is *so* traumatic! I love this doc! She is engaging! 🇨🇦

I played this game with my 5th child, on a 5.5hr trip alone, with my 4 year old and 2.5 year old (obviously I was driving), but I really wanted to reach my destination if I was going into labor, I did make my destination, which was to my mom’s house, dropped the kids off with her husband, and on to the hospital to deliver a baby 30 min later!

I always had irregular periods but because I’m a paraplegic and had load of other health stuff going on I kind of ignored my gynecology appointments (bad I know). I was on the pill in college which I got through the clinic at school and then I got an IUD just before I got married. Hubby and I weren’t ready for kids so again … ignored my gynecology appointments. Then I got very sick and was a mess for 2 years and when I was finally better we were ready to have kids.
So I go in to talk to the doctor about how safe it would be for me to have kids as a paraplegic and have my iud out. He scheduled me for regular ultrasounds to see if I was ovulating and upon the first one he diagnosed me with PCOS. He said it could make getting pregnant difficult.
Y’all, by the next appointment for an ultrasound to check for ovulation, I told him I’m pretty sure I’m pregnant. I took like 7 pregnancy tests. He laughed and he does the ultrasound and he is just staring at the screen. Remembering that he said it would be difficult to get pregnant I was convinced something was wrong. I freaked and asked what was wrong. He says, oh you’re pregnant … and there’s two of them in there!”
TL;DR
So my paraplegic self with PCOS now has 4 year old identical twins!

I remember finding out when I was about 5 that adults have less bones that babies, so I asked my dad what happened to the bones. He told me that, when you are around 10 or 11, holes will appear and a bone will fall out, like how your teeth fall out. I 100% believed him.

I was told at 15 that I would need “doctor’s intervention” to get pregnant because of all the issues I was having with my hormones. Fast forward to my mid 20s-30s and all 3 of my kids were conceived the 3 times we didn’t use condoms.
Well…that doctor was wrong lol. Your story sounds similar to mine Bethany. I have terrible endometriosis and was told I’d be lucky to ever have kids. Child #1 showed up while I was on birth control. Child #2 showed up after 1 try.
We also don't know when everything settles on our system and ready to make babies 🥰
Same here! PCOS runs in my family, though - my mom, two of my sisters, and I all have it. My mom had five pregnancies without intervention, and while one of my sisters unfortunately miscarried twice, she conceived a healthy baby. The fearmongering and assumptions that a lot of doctors make based on certain uterine disorders needs to stop.

I have been very blessed with 3 fantastic daughters, but I got started VERY early. My girlfriend (wife) got pregnant at 15, and I was 16. I became a dad for the first time soon after my 17th birthday. It was an amazing experience and something that has defined my entire life. That was almost exactly 24 years ago, as of March 10th. Now, my oldest is fixing to graduate college with a degree in Kinesiology and I couldn't be more proud of her! Life has an amazing way of twisting and turning and handing you things that you often don't expect... but it's the unexpected things that can truly define who you are.

I didn't know I was expecting twins and after having the first one kept telling the nurses to get the DR back that it felt like something was wrong. They told me it was post natal contractions and gave me a sedative because I kept getting up to go find Dr. In the bathroom I reached down and felt the foot and pushed her out. The look on the nurses faces was insane
I hate when Med professionals think they know more about your body than you. Academically they know more, but we have intuition, which in my world, trumps academia.
you're right it's insane that they refused to check basic facts like a heartbeat or further contractions. however if pregnant women could choose more about their care I suspect most would opt for an ultrasound or proper midwife care.

As an EMT an unknown gestation footling breech, with no prenatal care, inadequate breathing and a 90 mile transport ranks high on the list of calls I do not want.
This reminded me of the reason I became super grateful every time my period arrived - I had a school friend whose ovaries needed to be removed around that age (13/14yo); and it made me realize how blessed I was to have a functioning reproductive system that wasn't giving me headaches!

I am not someone who cries often over stories, but this video made me sob hearing the parents describe their range of emotions going from panic, to confusion, to happiness from the realization that they suddenly are going to have a baby, to absolute anguish from thinking they've lost the baby they've always wanted. And the truck driver helping save the baby, and sharing their name! It's all so amazing how everything turned out
I found out I had PCOS at 15. My obgyn at the time then told me that it’d “make it very hard to get pregnant, and you may never have children.” It was devastating. I am anovulatory, but with clomid I was able to have 3 beautiful children. I despise how some doctors choose to approach things
I think some doctors have such overwhelming superiority complexes that they just like to pull you up with what they would consider a spoiler, just to see you deflate in front of them. I don't know how much weight is applied to 'bedside manner' and 'breaking bad news' parts of their exams but it's definitely not enough with some who seem to enjoy raining on folks' parades.....

I work in medical research for gynaecology, so I was already across the basics when my doc diagnosed me with PCOS. The amount of times she reminded me that YOU CAN STILL GET PREGNANT!!! DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF THINKING YOU WON'T GET PREGNANT!!! was a bit overkill, but I'm glad she said it. She said she's had patients come in surprised that they are pregnant, which sounds like it wouldn't be great in most cases. Anyway, some good doctors out there!

i have PCOS, my last period was in march 2021 and got pregnant in August 2021, so yeah, not having periods doesn't guarantee that you won't get pregnant. 😅

I started my cycle at 8 yrs 9 months. I had 1-3 periods a yr. At 14 i was told i would never have children. I've been pregnant 16 times resulting in 3 live births.

The thumbnail alone is why I'm definitely glad I both have an implant in my arm and not had sex. This kind of thing happening sounds terrifying especially on a road trip.

Don't be too worried. There will always be someone, who does get pregnant, but your chance to be that someone is 0,1%.
If you have potential partners wear condoms, that chance drops to about 1/50000 (Optimal use of condoms. It also keeps you pretty safe from STIs). And that is your chance, if you have constant sex for a whole year! (Which very few have, even if they are in a stable relationship.)
If you are worried, do semi-regular pregnancy tests. They aren't expensive.
I was diagnosed with PCOS in summer 1999 and told I could not have children. In April 2000, I went in to have a surgery and was asked to give a urine sample and a few minutes later, I was told I could not have my surgery because I was pregnant. HUGE shock to me!!! I went to my OBGYN later that week and found out I was 4 months pregnant and didn't know it. September 2000 I had a healthy daughter.

I just had a flashback when you said that hopefully we won't need to do RCP to a new born... My mum saved my sister's life because she had taken a first aid course and they taught them how to do it. My sister was born at only 28 weeks and after 4 very hard months she was finally sent home, and then a couple of weeks later she choked on milk and simply stopped breathing. The doctor said something about being too little to have proper coughing reflexes. Anyways, my mum kept her alive with RCP until the ambulance arrived, and she fully recovered after that. I truly admire my Mum's composure and determination in that moment. She's a hero 🥰

I was diagnosed pcos when i was 20. I was told i had abut a 1 % chance of getting preg. I also had a rare form of endometriosis, a tilted bicornuate uterus. When i was 35 i found out i was pregnant. I miscarriaged , but went on to have 3 sons. I was 36, 38, and 40 when i was finally able to conceive naturally. I thank God for answering those prayers.

@@Hooperjz78 I am 46, and had the hysterectomy due to fibroids. My OBGYN did a fire sale, we decided everything must go, ovaries, tubes, uterus, all of it.
Currently, I’m just tired and sore, and the hot flashes are kicking my butt. However, I’m also starting hormone replacement therapy for a variety of reasons after my post-op visit.

I'm 46 with fibroids that are starting to get annoying, I'm already down an ovary and a tube due to dermoid cyst and the other tube was tied off over 20 years ago. I hope the hrt works for you, my mom had a terrible time with just natural menopause and I'm worried how it's gonna go for me depending on what (if anything) we do about the fibroids...
I’m a bit late watching this but as a NICU nurse of 25+ years, I was so worried about what could’ve happened on that 90 minute drive! Luckily these episodes always end well but they are still real situations. I always wonder what MDJ’s Mom thinks. I’d love to see you two react together!

I didnt cry until the ending when they named baby after the truck driver.. he definitely was an earth angel because I think the couple were both too shocked and panicked to think clearly. Glad he was at the right place at the right time. You're awesome Shawn
My wife and I use 2 forms of infertility for birth control. Her eggs are prematurely old for her age and I have zero sperm count. To have our twins we needed both fertility medication and a sperm donor and even then it took 3 tries.

I cried at the beginning at the vid when she was talking about pcos. I was told as a teen and since then that i would never be able to have kids and hearing you say that i might be able to gave me a little hope.
I just can NOT image! I had a footling breach baby on the side of the road too. It was terrifying and I KNEW I was pregnant!

It always makes me cry when the women blame themselves 😭😭 I get choked up almost every time MDJ does but the blame society puts on women is so overwhelming when they put it on themselves for something they had minimal knowledge and control over.

I mean me, my coach, and athletic trainer blame each other for not knowing one of my teammates was pregnant. It tortures me for pushing her too hard while max lifting, and my coach and athletic trainer were fired over it. So…

My grandmother had PCOS and never knew until she felt movement. She had 6 kids.

I had a friend who didn't know until her 7th month. She always had irregular periods and was plus size.
Tearing up at the thought of her fear and sorrow when she thought he would be stillborn. It must have felt like an eternity
My sister didn’t have a Canadian when she was born. Being a footling breach is a rough, and when both legs were out, the nurses thought it was a boy and told my mother so. She told my sister and me many times how disappointing it was that her second pregnancy had ended with [another healthy] girl. Dad’s story centered around how the baby didn’t breathe for ten minutes. To him, her survival was a miracle, but Mom told her daughters for years how much she wanted a boy - which finally happened. My sister never became the hero of her own story and died young when Mom wouldn’t let Dad call 911.
I was told by the leading OBGYN in my area, that I would never get pregnant again ( had one child) and if by some chance I did, I would never carry it full term. I was devastated!! Fast forward 4 years, got pregnant and carried her for 10 months instead of 9!!!
