Lily!! You're correct - I just realized I misspoke - thank you for pointing this out. Though the complete picture of GERD in pregnancy is multifactorial, PROGESTERONE is the main smooth muscle relaxant and most likely major contributor here. Pinning this for clarification!
I threw a cheese toasted sandwich at the wall when I was about 8 weeks pregnant. Didn't have enough cheese on it. The worst part was that I made the sandwich 😂
I wish I'd have found her yes ago. I had such a bad experience with a female obgyn during a miscarriage and I'd heard they're heartless( I was young) but was told with no heart at all that is get over it and never think about it again and I'd go on to ha e more I'd not wasn't meant to be. Were you pregnant? Last October mine came 2 weeks late, multiple negative test and then blam very heavy period. Now I am pregnant 20 weeks 4 days. Got a positive right away.
I was born about four months early and the pictures that we have of me are actually terrifying. Seeing a baby that small is scary, I can’t imagine how my family felt.
I totally relate to this. I was born 3 months early and my dad said I could fit in one of his hands. It's saddening to imagine how scary it must have been for him
My twin nieces were born at 27 weeks, with the smaller one weighing only 1 pound 8 ounces. Looking back at the earliest pics of them is pretty scary! Not only are they so small, but all pics are in their NICU bassinets with a bunch of cords, machines, and lights around them. Definitely a terrifying time for my family.
My friend was born around 3-4 months early, and oh man I’ll never forget her mom showing us pictures of her in a diaper which was SO BIG on her but the smallest they had… then her mom showing us the actual size of the diaper and how it was smaller than my palm.. meaning my friend couldn’t have been longer than like… a hand. So scary but my friend is awesome and healthy today!
my mom was cutting cheese the way you were cutting the avocado and cut a nerve in her hand and thats how she found out she was pregnant with me because they tested her before surgery. They asked her if she wanted to keep me and shes like "sure why not" lol.
same thing happened to me! i severed a nerve and still haven´t regained sensation in that part after two years, wasn´t preagnant tho (and never will be)
@@xKalisto It is similar to hand injuries from cutting a bagel. I had to go to urgent care a few years ago for a deep cut to my thumb (not from cutting a bagel, but slicing it on a broken coffee mug) that wouldn't stop bleeding. The doctor mentioned treating a lot of hand injuries from slicing bagels as well as having to care for someone from a restaurant who cut their hand with a mandoline! Ouch!
I started crying at “and now she’s sitting in a puddle of blood” and my 6 month old looked at me and put his arms up for me to come cuddle him. 🥰 When I was pregnant with him (he’s my rainbow) I started bleeding a lot at 7 weeks and broke down crying because I was sure I lost him and I had a SCH.
I'm so sorry you had to go through that terrible experience. I'm also happy to hear that your baby is healthy and you love each other ❤️ you must be a really loving mum 😊
❤❤ your son is a sweetie! Congratulations! Pregnancy can be a scary time. SCH are definitely scary. I read about mine on the u/s report and the doctor never went over it with us at the initial appointment . Asked for clarification and didn’t get anything other than monitor for bleeding….. ended up in the ER for bleeding. Then the second appointment we just had told me “SCH are not a big deal” , how I didn’t call and I did and corrected her that I was on hold because it was 9:30 pm, and then tried to pass the buck to the ER doctor not calling the on call OB. No ma’am. You let my husband and I down by not going over anything and what to expect, when it is serious to give us peace of mind on what to do. Needless to say changing doctors!
Yeah, my poor husband does not deal well with "icky medical stuff." He bravely stuck it out with me during labor for both our kids, but both times the nurses were worried that he was going to faint. He was turning green.
My husband was a trooper. He kept saying, "I'm not gonna look I'm not gonna look." And he looked and I swear I felt his hands go cold. 🤣 He looked right when they had to suction our son out the rest of the way. But he didn't leave or faint! I die laughing every time it's brought up. Lmfao
Agreed! Also fun fact: smell/taste aversion can happen with periods too. Not so fun fact: I'm currently experiencing a really bad aversion to sugar (like candy tastes rotten) while craving sugar!
I couldn't freaking stand 90% of my (greasy, fat-filled) usual diet for the first 14 weeks during 2 of my pregnancies. The other pregnancy (the only girl) I had NO symptoms whatsoever.
How far along were you when you found out and how was the pregnancy for you? Did you have to spend a few months in the hospital before the baby was born?
@@fulanadetal7710 about half way thru i spotted and was diagnosed. Once when one of my friends had her period she cried cause she dropped a paper while walking into a door. The thing that caused the crying was the paper dropping and not the walking into a door for some reason.
I took 3 with my third because it kept coming up positive for pregnancy LOL-was NOT planning on being pregnant! He turns 15 this year and of course, cannot imagine life without my sweet boy! But I had convinced myself the first one was faulty as it was a leftover from 2nd pregnancy...

I'm sure that they did imaging and an EKG. They don't usually just send you home with nothing. I have GERD, asthma, and panic attacks, so I get bad chest pain. Sometimes it's bad enough to go to the ER. I've never been sent home without at least an EKG and imaging. It did take 3 trips to finally get the asthma diagnosed though (despite having O2 being super low and being put on supplemental oxygen), so hospitals definitely aren't perfect, especially when you have mental health issues and get dismissed, but they usually take chest pain pretty seriously even if it turns out to be heartburn. Where I live, it's mandatory to do those tests at the very least
Man. I had my son at 25 weeks in June and I still can’t believe that seeing babies in the NICU makes me instantly cry still. I couldn’t imagine going through that without even knowing you were pregnant

Every time you mention "mom to four" I find myself waiting for it to be "mom to five. We accidently brought one extra home from the store and by the time we noticed, the 30 return period had passed."

What in the world is that stench?!” And then my blood ran cold because I realized I could be pregnant 😳 We were really excited about it though, once we confirmed the pregnancy! Baby boy is due in 7 weeks Oh btw...Later on, everyone else said the carpet didn’t smell at all, lol
Congratulations!!!!!!! I knew I was pregnant (wanted pregnancy) when I was at the grocery store and the produce section got to be too overwhelming for me and got me nauseous. I went to the pharmacy section of the store and grabbed pregnancy tests.
I had a similar thing happen! I was at work and all of the sudden I smelled hot pockets. Turns out someone was heating up hot pockets on the other side of the building 😂😂 I was shocked that I could smell that far! Now I’m 8 weeks pregnant 🥰
Haha I was bald until I was around 2. I was also pretty small for my age, but walked rather early. My parents said I used to freak people out looking like an infant walking around their offices
This one had me in tears! I gave birth via emergency c-section 2 months early to a tiny baby boy who by some miracle only needed a feeding tube & a bit of air (his lungs were fully developed). He also pulled his feeding tube out about a month before he was scheduled to come home from the NICU. It turned out he didn't need it anymore, and we got to bring him home on Christmas Eve.
I’m a premature baby myself actually, was almost 2 months early but considering I was a triplet in a high risk pregnancy it was bound to happen, was supposed to be born on Christmas Day but life had other plans, we stayed in the NICU for around a month and we also got to come home on Christmas Eve, parents always say it was the best thing they could’ve wanted that year
I was premature too. My moms water broke at almost 29 weeks and she spent a week at the hospital. They were able to delay the labor for an entire week which allowed my lungs to develop My mom said she had to drink a lot of water. Anyways I was born at 30 weeks and I also was pretty healthy. I didn’t pull the tube because I wasn’t strong enough at that point lol. I had to be in the NICU for 8 weeks because i was born under 3 pounds and was actually loosing weight at first And I got sick so I needed a blood transfusion But When I was 5 pounds I got to come home
I had a really hard time getting pregnant due to polycystic ovary disease that necessitated removal of one ovary. We had our son and were so happy. When he was about 16 months old I started having a lot of reflux issues. I hadn’t had a period while I was breast feeding and then once he wanted at about 1 yr I still didn’t have periods. We didn’t use any birth control because we wanted more kids but I didn’t really think about the reflux in terms of pregnancy. I went to the doc and he said that he thought I should have an upper GI series since this might be gallstones or something. As I sat there listening to him I thought, you know, I might be pregnant. I should check that before I do anything else. So I went home, took a pregnancy test and yes, I was pregnant. I made an appointment with my OBGYN and then called my neighbor over to have some tea and tell her the good news. As I was making the tea a sudden gush of blood poured out of me onto the floor. I called my friend and she rushed in. You’re having a miscarriage she said. I’ll call your husband to take you to the hospital and watch your baby. She couldn’t take me because she had kids about to come home from school. My husband came from work and took me to the clinic where my OBGYN met me and they did an ultrasound. 17:30 He told me that yes, this was a miscarriage and the fetus hadn’t been expelled but had no heartbeat. They had to do a D&C before things turned septic and also to stop the bleeding. What would have happened to me if I were in Texas or Florida or some other crazy state where abortion is illegal?
My friend delivered a baby at 23 weeks due to placenta previa. Woo. that was a stressful time for her. It was heartbreaking. Being heavily premature, she needs therapy but overall she is a thriving 2 and a half year old! Preemie babies are fighters!
Glad to hear that she's thriving! It can be so hard to predict how premies are going to grow. Lots of times they catch up and are just tiny and other times they need some extra help. Either way, you're right--they are fighters and I'm sure she's beautiful. I miss being around little ones and seeing them grow up
When I was pregnant with my first child, I had intense morning sickness. I thought that if I sprayed some Bath and Body Works spray on me, it would calm my stomach (the scent was a fresh-smelling mango); however, the opposite happened. It not only made me rush to the toilet to puke, but that connection to the mango scent stuck around after I gave birth. I still get intense nausea when I smell it, and my child is 10. It's so weird how that works.
It's just your brain associating stuff, like how we associate our beds with sleeping/being tired. Our brains are crazy powerful, annoyingly enough lmao
I think we get that any time tbh, mum thinks I'm allergic to fish because I had a bad prawn or something when I was young (not 100% on that one) and I crashed my motorcycle and all I had eaten before riding was chocolate Easter eggs... and they gave me morphine which makes you sick, and ketamine, unsure if that also makes you sick and unsure why they gave me so many drugs lol but I puked liquid chocolate and I still like chocolate, but I'm really not a massive fan any more like I used to be, my mum used to say chocolate cake to me and I would break out into a massive grin of excitement, if you did that now I'd be like hmm is it shop bought or like really rich nice chocolate. And then ill just have a small amount and be good. But for like a year or two I didnt really eat chocolate at all
SmittenKitten I remember my sister telling me a long time ago that seeing Christmas items in the store made her feel nauseous because she had morning sickness the year before, around the holidays. I wonder if she still feels that way, considering that her son is also 10 years old.
Funny story about bald babies: my mom didn’t know babies could be born with hair since I was the only baby she had and her and her siblings were all born bald so when my sister was born after 48 hours of labor, my mom totally freaked out at the fact that she had a full head of black hair. She was terrified. Thought there was something wrong with her. 😂😂😂

I’ve had two miscarriages and two live children my miscarriages were 13 and 15 years ago and I saw a TikTok tonight that hinted about about a toddler giving his angel sister a kiss and I had a meltdown and cried for like 20 minutes
It’s so interesting to watch these weird pregnancies, knowing that I had a weird one too. I had a mini stroke at 34 weeks pregnant, which in itself was terrifying. Even more terrifying is that they couldn’t find a reason, just “it could happen when you’re pregnant”. Definitely a scary moment!
It's pretty terrifying, regular tv makes pregnancy just look like "Haha she has weird cravings, needs to pee, and is mean sometimes" but in real life pregnancy is like "Your body is going to attempt to kill you in about 700 different ways, for literally no reason".
How precious is MDJ with her reactions to these stories, she's so passionate about her field of work, her patients are very lucky to be in such good hands!

And now is one of those times because I went from normal to almost bawling when they said she needed an emergency C-section. Gotta love hormones 😂
I had to stop watching “a baby story” and “an adoption story” on TLC when pregnant with my first because it was way too intensely sweet and my emotions couldn’t handle it. I’d be legit bawling 😂. I also got crazy mad at hubby when he played a trick on me and said we didn’t have money for what I was craving. 17 years later I’m still pissed 😂
I was pregnant when we went to Disneyland. The show with the comics and the can-can dancers sent me into one of those laugh until you cry fits. It wasn’t even all that funny! I had to leave and compose myself.

Asparagus and hollandaise sauce are what get me. Cannot stand either of those! Mom mentioned when she was pregnant with me, and Dad had made an asparagus dish, the smell triggered a ‘very violent rejection of everything’. I carried my baby past full term 2 1/2 weeks over my child's due date , I went to the hospital on the 19th because I wasn't dilating at all I knew something was wrong. Early hours at 2:02 am I woke up thinking I needed to use the restroom but the placenta ruptured. I called for the nurses and was rushed in for an emergency c section finding out the umbilical cord was wrapped around my baby's neck twice, was so thankful that my baby was okay
I had my son at 26 weeks because of preeclampsia and low fetal heart rate. I’m glad this baby was more developed because a micro preemie is very scary.
I'm a teacher and have had to give online classes. Caught myself recently in using a similar ending to my lesson. A dutch version of the be kind line 🤣
I feel like people who didn't have positive outcomes would likely not be able to or willing to share their stories on such a show. Seeing how traumatic the experience is for people who had the happiest possible result I can't imagine how the ones who lost their child or spouse would be dealing with this.
We're one of those families. I've had *two* stillbirths, and two surviving preemies - including a twin pregnancy with only one survivor. I belong to a lot of loss and complication communities - these issues aren't *that* rare, and losses are fairly *common* - especially early MC, but TV shows do NOT want to show those common negative outcomes. They want fantasies, or drama. TV shows LIE... or over emphasize minor issues and details, but ignore the important parts. If your only knowledge of puberty, fertility, sex, conception, development, pregnancy, pregnancy tests, complications, losses, antenatal care, labour, delivery, NICU, breastfeeding and recovery is *TV shows*... there's going to be some HUGE, harmful, misleading gaps ☹️ Most people do not want to know about complications or tragedies, but they still NEED to, so they are prepared themselves, can support others... and they can be grateful for happy outcomes. It's COMMON for people who had complications to be minimized, criticized, silenced, mocked and especially BLAMED by "friends" and "family" for their tragedy. Which is HORRIBLE. Many have invitations for family events like showers, christenings & weddings withdrawn. They end up excluded, as if their tragedy is "infectious". You hear a lot of "nobody wants to hear that", rather than simply support or listening. Even supposed "support" resources erase or refuse to "allow" losses and tragedies. Our church, for example, REFUSED to offer any support, no funeral, no burial, no prayers, no memorials, nothing. We and my surviving children were not offered somewhere to go to remember them. It's very hurtful. If you ARE mourning a loss, find a loss support group online. There are support resources, even if you are in a hospital. Talk to the nurses, they can be amazing advocates.
The difference being that at a little over the normal carrying time I was still very underdeveloped and small. Normal pregnancy length. Not normal pregnancy development.
@@BloodyKisses1100 Because lungs are the last thing to develop, I thought maybe you were in there for a little less time than needed... I didn't get (and Anna too I think) that you were underdeveloped although your mother had a 40-week pregnancy.
Being a mom to a NICU baby this hit all the feels! Seeing your child stay behind in the hospital, all the wires and medical equipment, the cpap breathing for them, it is very much overwhelming. So glad this couple had a great outcome!
As an xray tech, thanks for including the risk vs benefit scale for radiation during pregnancy. Of course we don't want to expose pregnant people often, but there are quite a few scenarios when pregnant patients NEED xrays/CTs-- like ruling out PE 👍
This one almost made me cry…it reminds me of my second daughter’s birth. I knew I was pregnant but I wasn’t gaining enough weight and kept going into early labor (3 times) and then they were trying to do more tests and sent me for a specialized anatomy scan and they said she had stopped growing and might have dwarfism or other complications so they wanted to send me for an even more specific test scan but I went into labor again and this time there wasn’t time to monitor it to see if they could stop it and she was born with only two pushes. She was 4lbs 15oz (she nursed before they weighed her because the doctor rushed out to deliver another baby and they were worried about her breathing so as long as she was breathing on my skin to skin they let her stay there then she nursed about 15-30 minutes later and then they weighed her at 5lb 1oz so she was probably the 4lbs 15oz-5lbs). When she was delivered they put her straight away on my chest and the NICU nurse’s hands were hovering over her ready to take her BUT I had seen a video of part of a “I didn’t know I was pregnant” online where the lady delivered in her car as her husband was driving her to the hospital and the actress was gently/slowly rubbing the babies back (who wasn’t breathing yet) and the narrator was saying (it was you MJD!) that if a baby is not breathing to VIGOROUSLY rub the baby’s back (not gently like they showed) with their face pointing downward to help stimulate them to cough up the amniotic fluid/mucus and to blow on their face to get them to gasp) so I remembered that and my mommy instincts kicked in and I vigorously started rubbing her back and blowing on her face. After about three times of blowing on her face she let out a tiny little wail and was breathing! She was very skinny, we called her legs like little bird legs. She was over 19 inches but only 5 lbs and dropped to 4lbs 9oz when we left the hospital 3 1/2 days later, she did not pass the car seat breathing test so she needed to rent a special lay down car seat from the hospital. I’m was happy with the original OB/GYN who was giving me/her care because she had moved my due date around month 4 of my pregnancy and therefore they didn’t think she was a premie but with the original due date she was and though she wasn’t hospitalized she did have the breathing issue when sitting/being held for a month and a half for her lungs to finish developing and was behind on growth charts and developmental milestones just like a premie. So to me she is a premie…today she is happy and healthy but needs glasses and is neurodivergent and may have some learning difficulties but is not old enough to tell yet school wise. But her delivery was very scary (tmi for a lot of it for general posting) but turns out good with our little one today!!! MDJ thank you for all you do in these videos!!!
Hey mama doctor Jones. I just wanted to let you know that my daughter was born at 27 weeks old and only had oxygen and a feeding tube. We live in a very small island in the Caribbean where medical equipment is not as advanced as in the US and other places in the world. She was released from hospital 4 weeks after birth and she is now the most intelligent 2.5 year old there is. God is GREAT!
All of my babies were bald too. They didn’t get hair till they were one. My poor daughter, when her hair finally did come in it was crazy. She looked like Rick Rack from the rocky horror picture show lol. Bald on top with hair at the bottom. She now has a full head of hair lol.
Oof, I had a pool of blood with my youngest child, the placenta came loose. Luckily we live near a hospital and I am a fast birther (took only 20 minutes). He had some blood in his lungs but other than that he was healthy and happy. I lost a lot of blood (fluxus). I am really lucky I live so close to such good carers. ❤
Lol at "fast birther" cause I am too apparently. With my first I only pushed for 18 minutes and she was out and they told me that was unusual. Active labor for 7 hours too so it went quickly thank god. Im glad you and baby are ok ❤

A few months ago I had a bad gallbladder attack and when the paramedics asked if I might be pregnant, I was doing some ASAP mental math. It'd been over a year since I'd had sex. LOL
I think mine stems from an abusive relationship where my ex would have sex with my unconscious body after I had taken rx sleeping medication (in other words, rape). I'm always fearful that there is a tiny possibility that I may be pregnant and have no idea because I didn't consensually take part in it.
This made me very happy....I was born with my twin sister around 23 weeks and we both had many complications and a 5 percent chance of living...seeing that baby in the first photo made me tear up because now I understand how my mom must have felt when she had me and my sister...
On the topic of blood and partners, my husband actually passed out and hit the concrete floor while I was pushing our son out. A gush of bag fluid and blood came out with his head and Daddy went white and fell to the floor! Nurse just pulled him out of the way, calls for backup, and moved into his place to help me hold my legs up ( epidural dead legs lol ) and we got my son out with the next push. I asked them to put my sons foot print on my husband's forehead as a prank & they did!! Hahahahaha my doctor was amazing 👏!!
I love these episodes! Could you in the future make an episode about stillbirth? I had one in week 23 and it's so hard to get good information about it.
I love that they featured a premie birth! My nephew was a micropremie (1 lb. 5 oz.), and I always cry when I see pictures of premies in incubators now. He’s almost 3 and doing well, just underweight since he was underweight for his gestational age when he was born.
Instantly had a sick feeling when I saw the baby in the NICU because of my micro premie (24 weaker). My little girl is 5 now and doing great and I'm so happy their little girl is doing great too 🥰 this was an excellent episode with realistically scary moments.
I mean, I remember after my cervical surgery with all the blood when a clot passed & no one told me about that being a thing. I was in college and when my roommate (like slept in the same room) were starting our day and threw back my covers and my entire mattress was covered in blood. I just ran cold & it took me a second to remember I had surgery a few days ago. I think my roommate thought I was dying... honestly, with that amount of blood, I did too.
OMG preach it, sis! After my cone biopsy I was chilling at home in my sweats and I coughed when suddenly I felt..something...exit my vagina. I was NOT prepared for what appeared to be a bloody piece of raw chicken skin in my underwear. Turns out it was just scar tissue but it would have been nice to have had a head's up. I literally put it in a ziploc bag, made an appointment for the following day, and confronted my (male, old) GYN like "Uh, excuse me WTF is this please?" 🤣
@@carag2567 Yes! Mine was also a CCB! I had a LEEP done but still got abnormal results after so they took like ⅓ of my cervix. (No abnormalities since *knock on wood* hopefully 2021 didn't hear me and it keeps going well😬) I saw a big bloody square in my underwear when I got to the bathroom & felt more drop. I didn't have anything to collect it in, so I just took pictures and videos. I was thinking maybe it was a surgical gauze pad, it was about 1in×2in so it would've made sense but nope. Just a giant clot. Sorry if all this is TMI lol but it's cathartic to share my experience with another person who gets what I'm taking about lol
That sounds so scary. I had a friend wake up in the same situation, however in her case it was an ectopic pregnancy rupture (she had no idea she was pregnant).
@@ImLunaShesZeta yes, I'm not blood averse, but I can definitely understand the feeling of "That blood is supposed to come out of me. THIS BLOOD IS NOT!!!" It's like how abdominal cramps can be so bad I can't move, but it's whatever. But if I think I've broken a bone, it might not even hurt that bad, but I'm flipping out.
The part of the partner being sick with blood reminded me of when I was five, I had an accident by the swings in the park. My dad was the first one to rescue me and he took me to my mom. As soon as he handed me to my mom he passed out for the amount of blood (the swing landed right in the middle of my forehead and obviously opened it up so you can imagine the amount of blood). And like father like daughter, I'm also super coward with blood. Once I was cleaning up some stitches and noticed one was bleeding, finished up and then went straight to bed asking my parents to call the doctor and ask what was going on while I recovered strength because I was gonna pass out.
I’m due in January 2024 and currently 30 weeks and 2 days pregnant. And I just am loving binging all of these. 🥹 that baby’s smile at the end was just ADORABLE! 🥰
My daughter was born at 31 weeks (we think was incorrect) they said oh she should be about 3.5 lbs my daughter was 2 lbs and the Dr said oh boy we were wrong. I could not hold her for 2 weeks and she was in the NICU for 2 months....so glad this momma got to hold her that soon.
My twins were 26 weekers. 1lb 8ozs and 1lb 12ozs respectively. They are now 2.5 year old crazy toddlers. They had a 4 month NICU stay and came home on feeding tubes.
Funny thing I found out after our 4th child was born I found out the pregnancy tests at the dollar store are one of the most sensitive pregnancy tests out there lol 😂 …score!
She probably didn't take the test properly and maybe her urine was very diluted. Even after giving birth you can still get a positive on a pregnancy test because your levels are still pretty high
I've had 7 babies, I can't imagine going thru pregnancy and not knowing. I know it does happen, but sometimes I think young people are in denial, and decide that it isn't real if they don't think about it. So happy this situation turned out well for this sweet family
I was aware of being pregnant rather early, and my children were active enough before birth that my husband didn’t like me to cuddle behind him as we went to sleep, because they were kicking him in the back. However, A relative by marriage learned she was pregnant about the same time I learned I was pregnant with my oldest. My understanding is that she had had irregular periods from the get-go. Also, she had been (reportedly) sexually active since about age 13. (Primarily? Exclusively? With her now husband) She had been told that she would probably never conceive naturally. As I said, we found out about our pregnancies at about the same time, yet her baby was born in September, and mine was born 12 weeks later in December. So she would have been roughly 20 weeks when she found out. I know of another woman (the niece of a friend) who had been told by doctors that even with assistive reproductive technology, she and her husband would likely never have a biological child, as both had fertility issues. It wasn’t until after she had lost both her mother and her husband to cancer, that she confided in my friend (an RN) that she thought she had cancer too. Feeling bloated. Food aversions. Couldn’t eat much at any one time. Shortness of breath. Couldn’t get comfortable etc. Turns out, she was about 8 months pregnant when she confided in my friend. I can’t remember if the baby was born on his mother’s birthday or his father’s 🤔🤷🏼
I understand that poor man feeling queezy about blood. My husband passed out in the delivery room when I had my epidural put in 😂 Thankful he came back around before the baby was born.

I thought it was Progesterone that made the muscle relaxed?
Lily!! You're correct - I just realized I misspoke - thank you for pointing this out. Though the complete picture of GERD in pregnancy is multifactorial, PROGESTERONE is the main smooth muscle relaxant and most likely major contributor here. Pinning this for clarification!

SCH are definitely scary. I read about mine on the u/s report and the doctor never went over it with us at the initial appointment . Then the second appointment we just had told me “SCH are not a big deal” , how I didn’t call and I did and corrected her that I was on hold because it was 9:30 pm, and then tried to pass the buck to the ER doctor not calling the on call OB.

They were able to delay the labor for an entire week which allowed my lungs to develop
My mom said she had to drink a lot of water.
Anyways I was born at 30 weeks and I also was pretty healthy. I didn’t pull the tube because I wasn’t strong enough at that point lol. I had to be in the NICU for 8 weeks because i was born under 3 pounds and was actually loosing weight at first
And I got sick so I needed a blood transfusion
But When I was 5 pounds I got to come home

Cute.
😂 I'm from a "bald babies only" family. Whenever I see an infant with full hair, I'm half fascinated, half bewildered. It's just a strange sight when you're absolutely not used to it. Probably the same when it's the other way round. 😂
After a labor that long, you tend to lose touch with reality. That was probably at least as much the issue as the differences in amount of hair.
my mom loves telling me how she called me a monkey because i was born with thick hair all over my body 😞🤟
@@blaake7892 if it makes you feel better, every baby my mom had every seen prior to my sisters birth was born bald so when she came out with a full head of dark hair my mom screamed and asked what was wrong with her
Never been pregnant, but I feel the chicken sandwich indicent on a deep level. I usually cry about really dumb things when close to and during my period. (Which is most of the month due to PCOS)
I was a bald baby for MONTHS. My mother put me in my brother’s old baby clothes instead of spending money for girl clothes, then started taping bows to my bald head so people would stop calling me a boy. lol
lmao just taped to your head i can’t 😂💀
I was bald for ages,my daughter has so much hair that you just see curls of it at the back of her head on her ultrasound 😂.
The heartburn is REAL with hairy babies!
My mom used glue on mine
I managed to get a few super blonde hairs for my 1st birthday and my mum, the hero without a cape, managed to tie a bow around those thin little hairs that you can almost not see at all.
I lost it at taping a bow on your bald head ahaha XD that's so ridiculously funny. Reminds me of my vet who got tired of correcting people that her dog wasnt a boy so she got her a pearl collar so people would stop calling her a boy. It didnt work XD
I miscarried at 11 weeks with my first pregnancy and the "puddle of blood" moment brings me back. It was so traumatic.
i'm so sorry :(
I’ve had two miscarriages and two live children my miscarriages were 13 and 15 years ago and I saw a TikTok tonight that hinted about about a toddler giving his angel sister a kiss and I had a meltdown and cried for like 20 minutes
I had the shingles when I was pregnant and pre-eclampsia
How precious is MDJ with her reactions to these stories, she's so passionate about her field of work, her patients are very lucky to be in such good hands!
Thought the same!
I, unfortunately, had a miscarriage right after I found out I was pregnant, I've had 5 of them but I am blessed to have 4 kids =)
Me too.
The losses were taking a toll, so I got my tubes tied at 37.
My mom was the same way! I promise it’s normal, but you probably know that already. I’m sorry for your losses!
It’s been over 30 years now, but I remember the emotional roller coaster of finding out I was unexpectedly pregnant one week, and that I had miscarried by a week later.
About a year later, I gave birth to my oldest of 4 children.
@@tanya5322 so sorry for your loss. Yes it is definitely something I will never forget nor will I forget being the first time I held each one of my little ones for the first time.
Every once in a while, I'm ridiculously oversensitive, and my first thought is always "do I need to take a pregnancy test? Why am I about to cry over something so small/doesn't involve me?" And now is one of those times because I went from normal to almost bawling when they said she needed an emergency C-section.
Think having a major surgery and needing a major surgery is a good reason for bawling
I was pregnant when we went to Disneyland. The show with the comics and the can-can dancers sent me into one of those laugh until you cry fits. It wasn’t even all that funny! I had to leave and compose myself.
I once cried over a Wendy's commercial 🤣 There was nothing sad about it, they were just showing a burger and talking about it and I was bawling. I thought oh boy, if this is how I am now, I'm going to be an absolute wreck when I'm pregnant!!
@@Laura-ql4mg i feel that 😂 mine is mostly triggered by cute things. Like a video of newborn puppies making cute noises? There go the waterworks. And Im like "damn, and I've never even been pregnant. How much worse is this gonna be when I am?"

OK but dawn is nasty though and that smell stays on your hands I hate it blech
It's crazy what pregnancy does to your body! I used to love broccoli but when I was pregnant with my daughter the smell of it just made me sick. She's almost 13 now and I still want to gag every time I smell broccoli.
Asparagus and hollandaise sauce are what get me. Cannot stand either of those! Mom mentioned when she was pregnant with me, and Dad had made an asparagus dish, the smell triggered a ‘very violent rejection of everything’. She liked it, but apparently, I decided very firmly that I did not.
I still hate the smells of those things. Tried an asparagus soup… it was interesting, and only palatable with plenty of roasted garlic and black pepper…
My mom couldn’t handle the smell or taste of eggs when pregnant with me. I’ve always hated eggs haha.

I was 14 weeks when I found out when I was pregnant. 19 weeks when I announced to all of my family and friends and suffered an early stillbirth at 21 weeks. It sucked! Extreme depression and anxiety. I’m currently 20 weeks into my second pregnancy and everyday I pray all goes well!
My granddaughter had a placental abruption when she was pregnant with her first at age 16. She woke up in a pool of blood 2 weeks before her due date. I coached her through that birth and got my first great-grandbaby.

Can I just say how lovely and _human_ you are during you reaction vids - I just appreciate so much how you really care about the people outcomes as much as the medical issues at play. 10/10 Mama Doctor Jones!
I’m glad this baby was more developed because a micro preemie is very scary.
hey Mama Doctor Jones, I am a medical student from India and I love your videos. The are educational and fun at the same time. Thankyou
If your only knowledge of puberty, fertility, sex, conception, development, pregnancy, pregnancy tests, complications, losses, antenatal care, labour, delivery, NICU, breastfeeding and recovery is *TV shows*... there's going to be some HUGE, harmful, misleading gaps ☹️
Most people do not want to know about complications or tragedies, but they still NEED to, so they are prepared themselves, can support others... and they can be grateful for happy outcomes.
I highly doubt that TLC would do an episode that didn’t have a happy ending. It must be a requirement to be on the show.
I don’t judge the dude at all for not driving last thing I’d want in a high stress situation is a woozy person driving lol
I was in my mother for just over 9 months! I had an underdeveloped heart and lungs. I'm always so happy when a tiny baby does really well!
Do you mean 8 months maybe?
@@AudreeAdam Nope. She got pregnant April 2nd, and I was born mid January

I mean, I remember after my cervical surgery with all the blood when a clot passed & no one told me about that being a thing. I was in college and when my roommate (like slept in the same room) were starting our day and threw back my covers and my entire mattress was covered in blood. Home pregnancy tests are meant to detect early pregnancy. The HCG levels drop off later on.
@Arna Cook no, if she was that far along her levels wouldn’t be anywhere near too low.
However,
A relative by marriage learned she was pregnant about the same time I learned I was pregnant with my oldest. My understanding is that she had had irregular periods from the get-go. Also, she had been (reportedly) sexually active since about age 13. (Primarily? Exclusively? With her now husband)
She had been told that she would probably never conceive naturally.
