I'm a twin, my mom gave birth 2 months earlier than she should have. There were some complications and the doctor made her choose, save herself or either me or my twin, and she said if there's a sliver of a chance for the 3 of us all to live then the doctors should do their best and she'll give her best to hold on. We're all alive & healthy 24 years now :) bless all OBGYNs who fight for their patients even when the all odds are against them.

When dealing with an incredibly high risk pregnancy one of the most comforting things a doctor did in a consult was to ask us if we had named her and then called her by her name. Yes we had named her. I didn't want her to die without a name and wanted medical providers to see her as a person already loved with a family who desperately wanted her.
I watched a video where there were triplets in this situation. The doctors delivered one triplet and left the other two in for a while longer. Not only were the triplets born on different days, but they were also born in different years. Not only that, they were born in different decades.
This was a nice collab. The speech delivery of Dr Mike is generally enthusiastic, energetic. And Dr Heather's talking is calm and soft. This was just like two friends having an informative chat in the breakroom. Liked it.
Doctor mike, you should do more episodes like this where the specialist of that particular field give insight about that particular drama scenes. But hospital Playlist does :) , 90%to 95% accuracy , and it is very enjoyable too. You just fall in love with every character main or not. Such a great writer.
I feel like the first season was pretty accurate, I think I remember even Dr. Mike saying it while reacting to a couple of episodes from season one. I guess they don't really care now. I stopped watching mid season 4 and I don't think I'm doing to finish it tbh.
I like it when both Dr Mike and Dr Heather appreciate the doc replying " I don't know". Always better to be honest than making promises you can't keep.
As someone who is the sibling of a baby who passed right after birth, especially since it was partially due to rh incompatibility, this video hit incredibly hard for me
My brother's son died due to RH incompatibility. My sister-in-law must have had a miscarriage she was uncertain about since she had received treatment after their daughter was born. Very hard time.
Dr. Heather Irobunda's commentary was so informative. The way she explains is so easy to understand. I will never get tired of these "Dr reacts to ...episode"
I absolutely agree, especially for people who have absolutely zero experience in medicine let alone the OB/GYN field. She makes things really easy to understand and I've learned a lot from this as well as the other Dr reacts to episodes
I have a friend whose mother had a dream while pregnant that she had two eggs in a nest, and a snake ate one of them. I don't know if she knew yet that she was carrying twins. When my friend was born, her twin was stillborn. Sure, it's possible that this was just a coincidence, but I also know that our bodies can know things that we don't. I don't know whether it's medically possible for this to have been more than a crazy coincidence, but it seems likely to me that part of her somehow knew what was happening. Human bodies do weirder things on a regular basis.
That's so fascinating to me. I'm the furthest thing from spiritual that'll ever exist, but I've had dreams that are unquestionably related to things that've happened after. The subconscious mind absolutely knows more than the conscious mind.
I'm a logical person, but exactly for be logical I can't just ignore dreams prediction as they are too much correct in my family. My parents choose to not know the sex both for me and my sister. But my mother dreamed beforehand. In the dream she find out a lot about us, like that my sister was a female with long legs and that I was very hairy with round checks. She often coments that while see my sister genitals was very easy, I seemed to be hiding mine so she couldn't guess my gender. Turns out I'm non binary 🤣 🤣
This one really doesn't seem like it even needs some, it does not seem implausible that some chemical changes could have affected the mother and produced symptoms of unease or anxiety. That could absolutely trigger disturbing dreams and it hardly seems unusual these could linger on themes related to the pregnancy. As for the seemingly specific nature of that particular one it must be borne in mind that confirmation bias is a very real phenomenon in humans and we thus tend to place undue weight on something like a dream that seems to become relevant later and disregard the ones that turned out to be complete nonsense entirely unconsciously without even being away of it.
Earlier this year i had a dream where my mother had a big blue mark on her chest, i found out the next day she had surgery to remove breast cancer, the "blue mark" she actually had done to her beforehand. She works as a nurse so i assumed she was just going to work
Behind the scenes: Person 1: i just found a disease Person 2: but only 2 people in all of history have had it. Person 1: but it would bring us money Person 2: great idea what was i saying

My mom has a bicornuate uterus! One side of her uterus was also toxic, so she had all 4 of her kids on one side. Her back was really messed up after that, and eventually one of her legs went numb and she had to have back surgery. They said her spine looked like she barely survived a car crash. The things mothers go through…
1:07 Fun fact: this is actually how the uterus looks in most mammals, but for whatever reason they became fused in humans. I guess it's to accommodate carrying a single offspring, whereas the bicornuate uterus found in most mammals is for litters?
Some women make it seem so easy but ITS NOT FUN! I didn’t intend to be a mother, but things happen, and I honestly was depressed all 9 months, and also had postpartum depression. I love my son, but pregnancy was rough.
A medical TV show that would be great for you to review next is Doc Martin, it's a British comedy drama, but is medically accurate, and to top it off it is hilarious!
This episode had me in floods of tears. My identical twins were monoamniotic/monochorionic. It was such a terrifying pregnancy, and we knew that IF they survived that long, they had to be delivered at 32 weeks. It still feels as if that pregnancy was yesterday, but my twins are 7 years old now. The severe anxiety every time I went into London for scans, every time I was put on a CTG when I was inpatient. My twins and I are all autistic and whilst I’m certainly no genius, I can relate a little to some of Sean’s character. I think this episode was the perfect storm that made me break down. Love seeing your content on here. I’d love it if you could bring some awareness to momo/MCMA twins too, maybe with heather again or mama doctor Jones? It was emotionally exhausting having to explain the risks to everyone who kept saying I was lucky to be pregnant with twins, when I was terrified every moment. I’d love for people to understand it more. I hope you manage to read this as it was actually hard to type.
@@00wolfQUEEN thank you so much 🖤 they’re 7 years old now, and I now admin the largest (still small as there aren’t many of us) Momo/MCMA Facebook groups to try and help other parents navigate the pregnancy, birth, and NICU journeys. I really appreciate your comment 🙂 thank you for making me smile
Omg, you are so strong for going through this. My family actually went through something kind of similar when my sister was pregnant. She had a lot of issues throughout the pregnancy and we were worried her or her baby wouldn’t make it (they’re both doing good btw). It was scary seeing it as an outsider, I can only imagine actually being IN that situation
Wow for a while my Dr's didn't know if my twins were mo/mo or mo/di. I thank God that they are mo/di as I dont think I could handle the stress of a mo/mo pregnancy. Absolutely terrifying. I'm currently 31 weeks with my boys. I agree it would be amazing for a video on the different types of twin pregnancies
The lack of a drape really bothered me. My sister had to have an emergency C-section due to her liver failing from preeclampsia and they flew her out to the other hospital on a helicopter but they still had the time to give her a drape before they cut her open. She also said the C-section itself was super fast, and even though she was awake for it at most she just felt some tugging. Then again her baby was literally 2lbs at birth and looked like a little purple potato. So not a lot of baby to dig out since he was so little. That lady must not have gotten prenatal care because the doctors helping my sister with her pregnancy were always doing tests and scans and I even remember the RH factor being discussed. Mostly because it's so wild to have an entire different human with a separate blood type and everything just inside you.

I had a situation where it was my life or my baby’s life. Antibodies were through the roof, My heart failed at 17 weeks and I had vasa previa. I kept hearing that I should terminate because my medical team believed my heart failure would reverse without her. I refused and told them that unless I was truly dying, I would fight for her. We held out until 28 weeks for a c-section to find the sweet spot where we would both have the best chance of survival. my baby girl will be turning 2 next week. She is perfect for being less than a pound at birth. My heart continued to decline for a year afterwards and my team confirmed it would have happened with or without her due to an autoimmune issue they discovered via biopsy. I now have a heart pump and am working to get on the transplant list. While a lot of this episode is insanely far fetched, it does hit home with how crazy a pregnancy can get so quickly. It’s possible that getting pregnant saved my life because now we know that I have a disease attacking several of my organs. We are both still alive because I refused to listen to my doctor’s extreme suggestion of termination.
As a twin this video was very interesting. I learnt a lot. I'm 29 and me and my twin were born 3 months early via planned c section as my sister wasn't well & I was in the NICU for 3 months then went home. I only weighed 960grams when I was born. My sister I guess you would say "stole" my food in the womb so I was much smaller than her.😂

As a mom of twins i sort of expected some of it. When i saw the specialist. The first said i was di/di, seperate placenta seperate sacs. Then the other lady came in and said they shared a placenta. I went from relief to worried. Back to relief as they were di/di.

I'm Rh- and had to get a shot for both my pregnancy. At 28 weeks along, because if I didn't, my body would try to kill off the baby, thank God got the shot worked and I had two healthy babies. 🙏🏻❤️
You know what would make it better? “Chest compressions chest compressions chest compressions!!! But make sure you do it right don’t do it like you’re panicking.”
This was really good! Very informative! The juxtaposition of the casual mention of abortion with the later discussion about "society" not being about survival of the fittest, but the strong having the responsibility to protect the weak, and then the passionate attempt by both doctors and the mom to "save" both fetuses was really interesting to me. As a society, we have really confused, sometimes diametrically opposed ideas when it comes to fetuses and whether they are human or worth protecting.
Now I want to see you do the episode of star trek voyager were the doctor has a breakdown about choosing between two patients who both require the same surgery but is too difficult to perform on both without the other dying.

I grew up on a dairy farm. We once had a cow who, after giving birth, developed an inverted uterus. And yup, called the vet who pushed it back in and then... how do I say this so it isn't weird?.... filled her uterus with warm water to make sure it was properly in place. The cow recovered and had at least one more calf with no problems.
Y’all do know that this show is about a genius gifted doctor who has visions and premonition about the patients, he has spiritually driven intuitions that other doctors don’t have. Currently watching this while in the hospital with preeclampsia with my first baby. Can confirm. You don’t need to have edema, and they definitely prefer to given oral meds before sending anything through an IV.
Me and my brother were actually the exact same as this scenario. My brother was taking all the nutrients and blood from me. They gave my mom this choice and thank God she just said no. She ended up having both of us 7 minutes apart. I've always been smaller than him though.
I’m pregnant with mo-di twins and have had to go to a million appointments to check for signs of TTTS. Did he not say in the beginning they were di-di twins? Di-di twins cannot have twin to twin transfusion syndrome because they don’t share a placenta… I’m so confused. 😂
Haha yeah the diagnoses in this show were all over the place.....dichorionic twins cannot have TTS....unless if the placentas cimpletely fuse which is exceedingly unlikely
My mo-di twins are 14 now and I was coming here to say the same thing! They have to be identical to have 1 placenta and get TTTS and if 1 twin is rh- and the other is rh+, they can't be identical and can't get TTTS!
Never been pregnant but even I know frok biology lessons that twins need to share a placenta for this issue to happen. I mean two placentas means they have their own little systems where nothing can be shared between them only with their host the birth parent.
I would suggest *Descendents Of The Sun* for Real Doctor Reacts. A korean, medical drama surrounding the consequences of a natural disaster. It's a huge success nationally and internationally. The the pinnacle of the drama is when the main lead doctor has to make a decision between saving the live of one person at the cost of the other. It also talks about the stigma around "A real doctor" and "a doctor who appears on tv" which I think will be something you could relate to. It also includes many struggles which doctors have to face. It's a great drama and I would be happy if you could react to it.
*SPOILER ALERT* Just wanted to ask if you are talking about the stone thingy where two people were crushed after some sort of earthquake (I watched it a long time ago so I remember very little. My memory might even be of some different shor or movie)
I'm confused about the C-section part. If she's saying no to the procedure, don't they have to listen to her since you have to respect the patient's wishes? Or is it a special circumstance?
I think if it will kill the babies then she can’t make that decision maybe. But normally yes you have to respect their wishes unless they are unable to answer where, when, and who
About how Shaun knew that, I guess he looked the patient chart before going to talk to Morgan because he was looking for a interesting case to work with so he could distract himself
Dr. Irobunda is one of those people where she says one things about her expertise and you believe absolutely everything she says after that no matter what. Her confidence and understanding are so comforting. Making me dislike my doctor. I don't even have a uterus and she can be my gen doctor.
I had an ER doc joke about a central line when they had trouble getting an IV the other day with US and the veinfinder, because I have EDS type 3. I glared an said "how about you try stabbing my legs first?" Worst part? It was my fourth IV attempt because the first IV was the wrong size for running iodine contrast! (6.5, the machine requires a 10 to reduce blow out risk) Three of the tries were bad because they went for veins I told them were no good! One blew in the first touch of flush, like I warned about. One was too scarred to puncture, like I warned. And one splashed back, and flushed, but stopped the second they hooked up a vacutainer for blood tests... like I warned.

@@The_Kirk_Lazarus Clonidine is considered safe during pregnancy on a monitored case by case, and emergency basis. And considering she's in the hospital, it's a monitored emergency basis. That’s what a lot of these shows count on with the plot line. That’s why they try to get as emotional as possible with the stories, too.

I had a dream that my husband was carrying identical car seats with a baby girl in each and 2 years later we had twin girls.
Earlier this year i had a dream where my mother had a big blue mark on her chest, i found out the next day she had surgery to remove breast cancer, the "blue mark" she actually had done to her beforehand. She works as a nurse so i assumed she was just going to work

I’m pregnant with mo-di twins and have had to go to a million appointments to check for signs of TTTS. Did he not say in the beginning they were di-di twins? Di-di twins cannot have twin to twin transfusion syndrome because they don’t share a placenta… I’m so confused. 😂
Weird....
Haha yeah the diagnoses in this show were all over the place.....dichorionic twins cannot have TTS....unless if the placentas cimpletely fuse which is exceedingly unlikely
Yes!!! That’s exactly what I thought! I had mo-di twins with TTTS. Di-di twins don’t share a placenta and can’t have TTTS.

And it's not shown to cause neonatal hypotension or rebound hypertension in any studies I've heard of. I know plenty who wouldn't be around without it
@@-Ghostess Read more data. Methyldopa is an alpha-2 agonist just like clonidine, but without the risks associated with clonidine. Clonidine has been shown to impair fertility and is also expressed in breast milk. And clonidine most definitely has been tied to rebound hypertension.
Central line are safe and use very often. This was a weird comment from both of them.
They get together so well, they basically have the same personality. Its so wholesome to see them talking about medical things together.
"Is that normal?"
"Yeah! People name babies in utero all the time!"
"Oh."
:D
I did my son
@@michalanewman6924 so did I. I thought most people did, which is why I found Dr Mike's reaction so unexpected (I guess age/gender play a role?)
@@troublebee0187 I'm not sure I was 26 when I had my lad it was funny his father was picking girls names it's like don't bother he ll b a boy lol
I had mine first and last name picked. The middle wasn't picked till induction day
lol I laughed so har at this :D:DD
Dr. Heather seems like a really good and fun person to be around
I had a friend pregnant with twins. She was having a lot of difficulties and they recommended saving the ‘healthy baby’. She refused and the twins were born. The ‘weak’ low chance twin was perfect in every way. Her brother and many complications.
Love seeing how far medicine has come. My twin and I had TTT transfusion 30 years ago before they could really fix it like this. We were both born early around 26 weeks weighing 1 lb.
After delivering my second child, I started bleeding out. It was scary.
Please do more collabs! The two of you together is fantastic! 💜❤️
I feel like so many of the medical drama writers see an super weird super niche story and are like "yeah, this should happen in our hospital. Right after the 27 one in a billion medical scenarios this season."
I LOVED this collab!!!! Also, can we talk about how GORGEOUS she is!!!
Does she have a RUclips channel?? She needs one, that is some great energy she has! Woo awesome video you two.
I love when you bring guests who are experts in a field.
It is so cool to see the diffferences and similarities of how you approach problems
Dr. Mike: Is that n-typical…. naming babies in utero🤣
Why was his amazement at her response so funny to me!! Also, this man is always watching his choice of words, it’s so sweet to see🥺
I agree 👀🥺
I thought that was a weird question. Doesn't nearly everyone name their babies before they are born? It's like he's never known someone who had a baby. You have to fill out the paperwork for their birth certificate while you're in the hospital. Better be prepared.
@@Karamarika Yeah, I mean, sometimes people change they mind once they see the baby, especially if the ultrasound technician was wrong and the baby is actually the other gender. I feel like it's more common to have a name picked out before the birth.
@@Karamarika Many people I know choose to wait until the baby is born before naming it.
Doctor Mike is narcissistic
