Happy Halloween! 🔶🔷 Try out Two Dots and send me your tips for level 117 😆: twodots.onelink.me/8e55/1022mamadoctorjones (and send me your level 117 tips, lol)
I wish I could remember 117! I know there were a bunch of levels I got stuck on for days but I've somehow made it to 851. It's just usually one change in the process..
Also my Brother who is the older of my two youngers mom kept telling the doc baby is coming and I'm not pushing! He was across the room trying to get gloves on (he never did succeed lol) the water broke his head and shoulders popped out and I touched his head (I was shy of 3) asked why his hair was so wet and the doctor ran across the room just in time to catch him from falling off the bed😂
I used this phrase with my mom recently. My dad passed about a week ago from cancer, found at stage 4. She has a lot of regrets and woulda, coulda, shoulda thoughts. If he'd said something sooner, if a doctor would have ran tests sooner, etc We did the best we could with the information we had at the time. 🫂 That's the only comfort I have right now
@@samanthatyler8260 My mom has also been through SO MUCH and made some choices while not entirely in her right mind, but whenever she falls into a guilt and shame spiral about it, I say this exact phrase to her. It brings both of us so much comfort.
I absolutely resonate with this comment. I do the same. I've used it many times with many friends/family. It's such a useful phrase, in so many situations, and has personally brought peace to my life, I have forgiven myself for things that had been weighing on my mind for some years. Thanks, MDJ, for bringing this phrase and this peace to my life.
i add on "tools." we do the best we can with the information AND TOOLS that we have. because sometimes you have the information, but you don't have the tools to make use of that information.
My traumatic birth story is I knew I was pregnant with my son (my third of 4 full-term pregnancies). However, the hospital sent me twice in active labor insisting it was just Braxton Hix. The 2nd time, they gave me an Ambien and told me to go get rest and see my OBGYN in the morning. This was a Sunday. I got home, tried to sleep, and ended up taking a hot shower which didn't help with the pain. Tried to sleep some more. Then got into the garden tub in my bathroom and tried to soak to relax. All the while drifting in and out of consciousness from the Ambien, not really fully cognizant of everything. At one point I do remember talking to someone when no one was in the room. I don't know if it was myself or God or a hallucination. I did end up yelling out, though, so at one point my then 2yo did get up and try to join me in the tub. I had also woken up my mom and then 5yo. My mom said she would get the kids ready to drive me to the hospital again. I stood up to drain the tub. After it drained, my water broke. I hollered for my mom, who said she'd rush to get us ready. We were a mile from the hospital. I'm not sure how much time passed by I felt something and the next memory I have (remember Ambien) was lying on the bottom of the empty tub on my back with this baby on there on the tub floor between my legs and a lot of blood. Later found out he'd ripped my perineum almost completely. I screamed and mom came in and apparently, I asked her to hand him to me. She said all her years of nursing left her brain and supposedly I suggested the 911 call. The operator told her to get something to put over him and the closest thing she could find was pillowcases in the linen closet so his first receiving blanket was a pillow cause draped over him. I was apparently instinctively doing skin-to-skin, though. First responders arrived and I was suddenly surrounded by half a dozen men who wrapped me in a white sheet. They did cut the cord, which spurted blood in one of the guy's eyes. This means it probably wasn't done pulsing as you described in this vid. But they wrapped my son in one of those thermal blankets and got us loaded into the ambulance. One of the first responders held him on the ride while others monitored me. I got a bunch of stitches for the tear when we were at the hospital. I had to piece a lot of this together from my mom's accounts and such. But it was still very scary and traumatic. The kicker was the on-call OBGYN's version of the story was that the nurses had told her over the phone that I wasn't in labor/progressing and that's why they sent me home twice and gave me the Ambien. The nurses said the doc was the one who wanted me to go home and follow up with OB. I never saw the on-call doc until I was brought back in via ambulance. I was interviewed in the local paper about my unplanned homebirth, but the final article made me sound like I was just stupid, which is how some of these episodes portray some of these women. :(
As someone who suffers chronic constipation… I can understand why she would be quiet and not realize what’s happening. Especially if that was normal for her, then you build up a truly huge pain tolerance for things stretching you wide open.
But you don't have any sensation of where things are coming from? You've had a vagina your entire life and can't tell the difference between a shit and a baby?
@@XusernamegoeshereX It can be really hard to tell. Chronic constipation can lead to really huge shits. I’m talking at least the width of a forearm. Something that big can make it hard to tell because it takes up so much space. It’s also why it hurts so much.
This my me feel so much less alone. I have chronic constipation and I sometimes feel like my stomach is splitting open. Like it’s the same level as my absolutely horrendous period pains and I’ve often wondered if both are what labour feels like
We don’t know unless there in that moment and or talked to the mom how she felt or meant when she said it. This esp if not and never have been the mother of a girl. Easy to arm chair judge.
I always had irregular periods when I was younger. I was told because of PCOS I couldn't get pregnant (yeah, I know, that's not right) so I wasn't being safe with my boyfriend. At some point we were eating at a Sheetz and the chicken tasted freezer burnt. My boyfriend tried it and said it was fine. I took another bite and spat it back out. It was definitely bad. Forced him to take another bite, still fine to him. He looks at me, and I look at him, and he looks at me into my soul and said "I'm getting you a pregnancy test." I was absolutely sure I wasn't pregnant. I was so confident. It was positive. I was almost 8 weeks pregnant. Healthy baby boy!
Yeah, your smelling is on another level while pregnant. I was once holding my breath in a store because of a bad smell, ran outside to take a deep breath - only to realise there was a fish selling cart. Almost threw up, it was so disgusting.
Ha! My fiancée has PCOS and has never had sex with a man, and she's also pregnant. 😂 Edit: We're...We're gay. I'm not a completely clueless dude who is being cheated on. Just saying.
Wow, Kalhea, Well done for having such a switched-on boyfriend!!! Truly, there aren't many men who would equate 'shit tastes like shit' with 'Hmmm, could you be pregnant?' Also, Nylak Otter - Congrats on your tiny human!! :D
I got told I wouldn't get pregnant too, seems to be a common thing - hello, little girl! At least I worked out I might be pregnant when I didn't want to eat lamb, the smell was suddenly really repulsive to me. Alcohol smells made me feel ill too.
I was a September baby. But, I was adopted, and my adoption was finalized and I went home with my parents on Halloween day. Ever since, my dad always made the joke that he still wasn't sure if they got a trick or a treat. 😆
I have had chronic constipation for a long time. My son is 14 now but when I had labor pains, it felt EXACTLY like passing a bad constipation poop. I didnt really feel uterine cramps at all.
I sympathize with how bad her digestive pain must get if she just thought she was constipated. I’ve had the whole grey-faced, sweating, doubled over in agony from IBS attacks before; my spouse thought I was having a medical emergency a couple of times…
Her mom said, "You heard the baby cry, so that's a good thing." New mom said. "I *thought* so." like she was scared she might have imagined the cry. So scary. I feel for her!
As someone who suffers from IBS I can totally understand how she'd mistake contractions for constipation pain the pain gets so bad during a flare up I too am screaming!
Amen to that! My fiber heavy diet doesn't make it better, well it does except when I have to suck "it" up for a short while, man that angers my ibs, all I had to hold on to was my iPad and I almost broke it in half 😂
@@chubbydinosaur9148 Ha!! I feel you ATM it seems to be a few days of constipation then all a sudden wrath of Satan comes out 😂 hurts so much in the moment but the relief afterwards!
@@lollylolly8186 oh jeez wow never fainted from it before but if I was to have a cryptic pregnancy which is what it's called when you don't know you're pregnant until after 20weeks or when in labour, my baby would probably be born in the toilet too thinking it was a giant poop 😂
I have ulcerative colitis and before I ever got pregnant I told myself that I'd rather deal with the pain of labor than the pain of a flare up. And 3 kids later, with #4 on the way, 2 without epidurals, and having to have pitocin with my second (the one where I learned I don't tolerate the epidural well), I agree with myself that my labor is nothing compared to my UC.
I'm not gonna lie, I would absolutely die if I had to come out of the bathroom and say, "hey babe, you know how I thought I was sick? You'll never guess what happened...."
I can't stop laughing at that reply 🤣🤣 like "hey darling, I swear I'm not calling you in to look at my poop again, but I do have someone for you to meet..." 🤣🤣
Oh god thats hilarious. My step sister had her eldest on April fools day. Good thing she knew she was pregnant. No one would gave believed it. We struggled to believe it and knew she was due 😂
My brother was born when I was about 4 years old. I was curious and kept asking kid-questions about what it was like. My mom said you used the same muscles as when you go to the bathroom. I thought about that for a bit, and asked, "when you go poop, do you ever get confused and think you're having a baby?" My family would laugh about that story for years... turns out its not so far-fetched
My very first baby, I went from 3cm to 10cm within an hour nap after getting the epidural, I woke up and told my sons dad "I think I have to use the bathroom." bc I hadn't expected it to feel like that, but thats exactly what it feels like, pressure when you have to go #2. 😂❤
Thank you for saying "give yourself permission to not feel guilty for things you know now but didn't know then". It's so important that we don't get bogged down and guilt ourselves for past lacks of knowledge regardless of circumstances. Thank you! I love your content by the way.
I had to use Miralax a few months ago prior to surgery. I am telling y’all IT FELT LIKE GIVING BIRTH. The horrible abdominal cramping was so painful I was sweating and rocking back and forth on all fours. I was just muttering, “Take me now, Lord,” between sobs.
Yikes, that sounds like a nightmare. I'm glad you managed to get through it. Miralax didn't work AT ALL for me, even after I doubled the dose. Something in my body chemistry is making me extremely resistant to all kinds of laxatives. (No colonoscopy for me, even though I should've had one five years ago.)
MDJ, I have to say...finding your channel like 2 or 3 years ago when my own life was crumbling...nothing related to babies or gyn health...but the statement you always make, "you do your best with the information you have at the time," has resonated with me so much and has been unbelievably helpful in getting through my own mental health journey. That one statement is so powerful, and I'm so glad I found your channel and heard those words of wisdom. Thank you ❤️☺️
As someone who suffered a perforated intestine at home secondary to an undiagnosed abscess and diverticulitis I can tell you I too thought it was constipation. I made no sound. Crawled up the stairs to my parents bedroom for them to call the paramedics. It’s amazing how much pain the human body can tolerate. I applaud her!!! Going thru labor was easier than my perforation.
To be fair, I have had constipation that comes in waves the way labour is described, and the feeling of it trapped in my body has had me in tears like this. I can understand why someone might think they just need to poop.
That is exactly how I got pregnant! I had an alarm that went off to remind me to take my pill every day at the same time. I already had a 3 year old and wasn't ready for another, so I religiously took my pill. I was put on an antibiotic for an ear infection. I have never had a regular period my entire life. Not before kids, or after. I'm post menopausal now. Never regular. Maybe 2 periods a year. Went years without one at all. So not having one didn't mean anything to me. I was sick for weeks so I went to the doctor and found out I was 5 months pregnant and having a boy! I hadn't gained any weight. I was on bed rest and medication to help me eat as I couldn't even keep water down. I was 109 lbs the day I delivered him.
I have taken care of a baby who was born into a toilet. As crazy as it might sound, it can happen! She knew she was pregnant but just like this mom in the show, she was still definitely in shock after it happened.
I commented on one of your other videos on how your saying, "you do the best you can with the information you have," has helped me in other situations. 😊
My baby decided to make his debut a week early this morning at 33 weeks 🎉 currently laying in my hospital bed post c-section and so happy to have a new episode to watch!
The majority of women I've met had a cryptic pregnancy at some point. My cousin was one of them, she didnt know she was pregnant until 5 months along. My best friend had a flat stomach for 7 months in her pregnancy. My eldest sister during labor laughed once and it popped out with no pushing. Yes it happens.
Everyone reacts to pain differently. I've had both kidney stones and gallstones, and am currently dealing with a post gallbladder surgery condition where certain foods can lead me to severely painful bowel movements. Sometimes, it's so painful that I can't see straight and I think I'm going to vomit. But, I don't scream either. I make a lot of really intense faces, do some intense breathing, and grab onto stuff nearby. But, in all of those situations, I kept my screaming internal, not external. 🤷🏽
Same, I had my lower jaw broken twice in a wisdom tooth removal. When the anaesthesia wore off I felt the pain, it was so intense that my vision went blurry and super colourful, I too grabbed onto stuff nearby because I was so dizzy. I just remember that I told my dad to go eff himself and I went straight to bed where I probably passed out. Btw I live in Europe, we only get local anaesthesia, I wasn't high like an American, just really mad when my head turned into a ball of pain while my dad was talking shid 😂 but you couldn't hear a single squeak from me.
Was your gallbladder removed? I get really painful cramps and diarrhea when I eat certain foods. It also happens if I eat too much or too fast. Alot of people who had them removed develope digestive issues afterwards. I'm halfway expecting them to be like tonsils. They used to remove them all the time then they realized how important they are to the immune system and now they try to avoid taking them out.
Same, intense pain makes me nauseous and light-headed, but I'm quiet as I breathe through it because honestly I'm just trying to maintain consciousness 😅 I've never been in labor before, but my period cramps are so intense sometimes that I can't move, and feell Ike aim going to puke or pass out. Pretty sure it's undiagnosed endometriosis since it runs in my family, but my doctor said unless it impedes my daily functioning or if I'm trying to conceive and can't then we'll do the surgery to diagnose/remove it, but otherwise he won't do the surgery. Luckily even though my cramps are that bad, a nice big dose of ibuprofen every few hours is enough to make it manageable that ai can get through the day and don't have to miss work or school. But yeah, definitely relate to being silent while in the most intense pain. You'll see it on my face and my breathing, but not hear me
@@Krmcgchy Yes, I had my gallbladder removed. My digestive issues are the opposite of what the doctors expected, though. They told me to avoid fat and that fiber would be safe, but fiber is what cause me to have intense pain. I can usually tolerate some fatty foods as long as they are not oily, and I have to drink my coffee a little weaker than I used to. I'm not a huge fan of high fiber foods anyway, though. 🤷🏽
i can relate to her not calling for help. I would probably take really long time to call for any kind of help too. That’s just the reaction some people have to injury or shock.
These episodes have now officially synced with my period (if they are actually once a month? I don't track them as religiously as I track my period!) and now whenever you make the "time of the month" joke I die a little inside (specifically, my uterus dies a little)
I know them very well, I’ve worked with Ethan (the father) for almost 15 years i will never forget the phone call when he called to tell us. They are great people and great parents. A lot of times you think these shows have to be dramatic to get the views this absolutely is not. The baby is now a beautiful young adult with a couple of younger brothers who weren’t born in a toilet!😂 I have to say I was afraid to go to the comment section on this because of how cruel people can be. I’m very happy to see all the positive words for them. This was a great video. 👍
This makes me so glad my boyfriend's so great, I got up in the middle of the night and went to the loo, and he woke up, realised I wasn't there and came to check on me. Thankfully I was just having a difficult poo, not a surprise baby.
An old deaf lady I worked with told me that her mother had her in the toilet. She didn't know she was pregnant and she had some sort of blood clot disorder where she regularly had bad blood clots in the toilet. Ms. Kathy said her mom tried to flush her not realizing it was a baby. Ms. Kathy is 70 years old and a very Godly woman. She told me that story many times over the 7 years we worked together.
This same exact situation happened to my cousin! She didn’t know she was pregnant until her baby came out in the toilet! (She was a tiny premi baby). She said the toilet water shocked the baby’s system and saved her life I think? People don’t usually believe her, this video is so validating😂
I've got to say this is the first episode that just had me fully screaming "NOOO" when she gave birth into the toilet. I gave birth very quickly without any pain medication (I was induced and went from 7cm to 10cm in like 15 mins and could not get an epidural in time) and you better believe I was screaming lmao no way comparable to a poop for me. This lady is next level.
Ohhh sames! My nurse came in, started checking the machine and and went from calm, how’s things? To calling for the doctor and throwing on gloves because she wasn’t sure I’d last until the doctor got there. The doctor rushed in and I was at 7cm and she was like, we can do an epidural and it might take longer or we can pop the sack and he could be here in five minutes. I picked epidural because last time they popped the sack it still took hours and I was in a lot of pain. I sat up, water broke, my back was tapped and the baby was coming. After he was born the doctor was talking and asking the post birth epidural stuff and the nurse just holds up the IV or whatever it’s called and was like, I didn’t get a chance to put it in
Interesting. I’ve had 3 babies, and with all 3 the “urge to push” just felt like pooping. 🤷♀️ 2 pushes and they were out (with all 3). No screaming, just bearing down and focusing (like when I poop) 🤷♀️ We are all so different. I do have VERY wide hips…I have no idea if that matters or not.
It is interesting that MDJ was so surprised about the toilet birth. It is actually not unheard of, and you see it a lot in what is called precipitate labor (very fast birth, usually second or more pregnancy ). The biggest risk is head injury
Same! But could it effect birth control because of the side effects, like diarrhea? When the pill is not fully absorbed and you vomit or have diarrhea it can be seen as a missed pill?
@@DT_1605 I doubt it. She didn't mention anything about that. They claimed that the two medications interacted with each other, meaning the antibiotic interfered (supposedly) with how her liver metabolized her birth control pills
I had my normal extremely painful and heavy menstrual cycle my entire pregnancy with my daughter, born an est. 4 weeks premie at 6 lb 6 oz. And I only gained 18 to 20 pounds the whole pregnancy. My pregnancy with my son 6 years later was the same and he was est. to be 6 weeks premie at 5 lb 15oz. With my son urine AND Blood tests were negative for pregnancy. I was sent for a special test to check for a tubal pregnancy a few days before exploratory surgery.....It was positive for pregnancy ( not tubal) and I was already almost 5 months pregnant. IT CAN AND DOES HAPPEN.
11:50 I agree. I actually find myself using that advise a lot nowadays for other people - and it’s hardly ever been with someone who is pregnant amusingly. A friend who didn’t realize specific protocols on discontinuing medicines, friends who are navigating learning how to be more aware and sensitive to other peoples experiences, some random stranger who did a perhaps not the best job mixing drinks. Hell, I use it on myself when my social anxiety goes up to ten and I convince myself I’m a horrible person for doing x thing when it was entirely outside of my awareness or control. It’s really good advice, and something I’d recommend to everyone. We live, we learn, and we keep moving knowing that we did what we could with what we knew at the time. That’s what’s important.
Omg thank you for bringing up the antibiotic and contraceptive interaction myth! Unfortunately after those studies came out, the "interaction" would still pop up in our pharmacy software for years. 🙄
Could you do a video about delayed cord clamping please? The effects pro or con, how it affects the baby, whether it contributes to jaundice and whether there is any significant stats as to whether it increases/decreases photo(light)therapy
Back in the 90's, I worked with two women who got pregnant with 'erythromycin' babies because a upper respiratory infection was making the rounds of our department store. Neither had told their GP that they were on BCPs. As a result, I was absolutely PARANOID any time I had bronchitis or a URI, making sure I told my doctor I was on BCPs any time they wanted to prescribe medication!
If you throw your pill up, then sure - you missed a pill and that affects how well they work - but otherwise the idea any common antibiotics will affect absorption or function of OCPs is false.
Late watching this one...not sure how I missed it ...but I have a few meds that clearly state in the information given that it can make birth control less effective. I take bc due to my pcos and how hard and sick my cycles makes me since it flares up my IBD as well so it isn't as a means for me to prevent pregnancy. That said, I'd never rely on just one form of protection. I'd still say to use a 2nd form of protection if on the pill.
As a mum who gave birth to a baby with a full head of long dark hair, which then all fell out and grew back blonde, the casting feels pretty accurate 😂 and when I say full head, it was down to his babygrow about 2 weeks after he was born. He would kick off as soon as he was naked, but swaddling him and washing all that hair made him squirm with pleasure!
Yeah I had a full head of dark hair when I was born but it had turned dirty blonde to blonde by the time I was a toddler. I dunno if it fell out in between but it could well have done
Same here! My kiddo had like 1-1.5 inch long black hair when they were born. At about 4-5 months their hair started to fall out and blonde hair started to grow out. At age 1.5 years they were super blonde! Now at age (almost) 10 their hair is dark blonde with golden strokes in it. I found it super weird! 😂
I have 4 kids. 2 we're bald and 2 had a head full of hair. One of the ones that had hair was born at 27 weeks and had that much hair when she was born.
I literally wait ALL month for these new episodes, It doesn't feel like this series has been going on as long as it has.. We love ya Dr Jones! (ShortRound voice)
Hopping into the shower after birth with baby wouldnt be my initial thought. But I think she was definitely in shock and thought for some reason hot water would warm baby more than being wrapped up... but maybe she also wanted to clean herself too. (Shrugs) we normally can get warm by hot shower but I would listen to what MDJ said and not do it.
10:46 correct me if i'm wrong but i have heard that keeping the umbilical cord attached for a little bit allows the rest of the nutrients to get to the baby in which after it naturally falls off..? I don't know much about this and would love to hear any extra words about it if any for education purposes
A similar incident happened at Silver Dollar City in Missouri. A pregnant woman rode a roller coaster, went to the bathroom and delivered a premature baby in the toilet. The baby lived but needed alot of support. I met this woman at the health department where well baby check ups and prenatal care was given. The baby was small for her age and still on oxygen. The mother was there for prenatal care as she was pregnant again. It never occurred to me that siblings could be 7 months apart.
Maybe she got early labour due to upside down roller coaster rides, she should not have sat in a roller coaster during pregnancy, due to which baby was born prematurely
I was put on an antibiotic back in 1990, no one told me back then that it could interfere with my birth control , sure enough I got pregnant and he is now 31 years old and the light of my life my husband and I had talked about getting married but hadn’t made anything official, we’ve now been married 32 years and still going ❤❤
Honestly with my first labor I thought I had gas or was just constipated so I did most of the labor at home and I was so quiet that I didn’t wake my parents or my sister. The only reason we went to the hospital was because I knew I was pregnant and by the time I got there I was 10 cm and could have delivered anytime. Needless to say I can understand going into labor, not making a sound and finding a baby in a toilet.
Im a gay guy and i love watching your videos, i feel that its important to be educated in this kind of stuff, and also the ''i didnt know i was pregnant'' videos are very entertaining. Also i would like to add since watching you i have been using the saying ''we do the best we can with the information we have'', you are just a multi faceted person giving us education and life advice !! haha. and i love watching your videos! thank you !
I was honestly starting to worry since your I didn't know I was pregnant reactions come out at the same time as my period. I am pregnant and your last one was with my last period. 😂
I just want to say thank you for doing these videos! With the info you shared I was able to help my sister deliver her baby! The doctor sent her home saying she wasn’t having contractions. Her and baby are healthy! So thank you for doing these videos !
This is it! This is the episode that traumatized me as a child!! My mom loves TLC and medical shows, but I've never been able to handle the pregnancy ones... This show horrified me as a kid, and this was the episode that started it all!
I’m due mid January with my first, and while I like to think that I have a decently high pain tolerance, I don’t know how confident I am that I’ll be THIS badass. I would really love my labor and delivery to just feel like constipation. If that could be the case that’d be greeeeaaaatt.
This happened in my dorm room! The girl who stayed there the year before me didn’t know she was pregnant and ended up delivering into the toilet thinking she was severely constipated. It was a legit story (I even think she was in an IDKIWP episode…) that warped and fueled several campus myths, including one of being able to hear the baby crying from the toilet room late at night (which doesn’t even make sense, as the baby didn’t die so they obviously weren’t haunting the toilet….but that little fact did not matter at all to early 2000s college kids who constantly would ask me if I ever heard the crying when they found out I was living in that room lmao!)
Didn't Know I Was Pregnant makes me so anxious about my own birth control. I'm on the shot and when it caused me to miss two periods I took a pregnancy test lol.
I credit this show with inciting my birth control anxiety. You can get bulk pregnancy tests on Amazon! That’s how I cope anyway lol. Also MDJ helps a whole lot
Taking pregnancy tests to make sure is good. I mean, I'm sorry if it causes you extreme anxiety, but I think a good message to take away from the show is to check if you are concerned. I went on the pill at 16, had/have irregular periods due to PCOS, but made sure to take a test every couple months if I didn't get a period once I became sexually active. It became just a part of my routine. It really gave me peace of mind.
When I started birth control at 16 and missed my period for 3 months, I was SCARED! Told mom, she bought me pregnancy tests, the fancy digital ones, all of them negative. Went to the doctor to do a pregnancy test, and negative. I was so confused. Then I found out hormonal birth control can stop periods completely. I haven't had regular periods in 7 years! Now I'm paranoid I'd get pregnant and not even have the periods to give me hints, even tho my birth control is like 99% effective and since I'm not in a relationship atm I also use condoms. The fear is always there😂
I'm Alaskan, and almost everyone I know is Native, and I can honestly say I've never met anyone who didn't eat tons of fish during their pregnancy 🤣🤷♀️ In AK, people aren't eating mackerel, we eat natural(not farmed) salmon, and salmon is such a big part of Alaskan culture and especially Native culture (Native AK, obviously not Native American) I don't know anyone who would be willing to go that long without salmon🤣🤣
I imagine that if pregnant woman weren't supposed to eat fish, it would be like when you stop drinking alcohol during the pregnancy. Everyone would immediately found out you nre pregnant the minute you say you can't eat fish
It’s my favorite time of the month… so much better than that “other time of the month.” 💗 Thank you MDJ for continuing to educate us while still being entertaining. 💞
My husband and I always joke about me being able to possibly laugh a baby out because my periods are already so horrible due to PCOS/PMDD, that the cramps I get come in waves just like contractions lmfao. So we both feel I'll be able to handle childbirth like a pro!!!
I remember when the book (and later movie) “My Left Foot” was being discussed on a talk show, the author’s Cerebral Palsy was possibly attributed to his mother not realizing she was pregnant and giving birth on the toilet. And as a result, he received a severe head and neck injury. Side note: the poor mother eventually gave birth 22 times, 9 died in infancy.
LOL mdj has clearly never had chronic constipation/been badly constipated 🤣🤣🤣 TMI: at my worst, most backed up time, i literally gave birth to a monstrosity. it was the size of both my forearms put together. i don't even remember the pain of it coming out because i was just so so relieved that it was OUT. my abdomen literally deflated. chronic constipation pain is something else lol, i've literally blacked out in the toilet before. it gets... intense 😅
That sounds awful!!!! 😮 I'm on the other end of that spectrum where if I'm not careful, I might have an accident 🤦🏻♀️ I was stuck in traffic once and 💩 my pants bc I couldn't hold it!!! 😭 Also awful 😂😂
The "we do the best we can with the information we have" mentality has been so helpful for my outlook on animal rights. Sooooo many people buy animals irresponsibly and its hard to not be mad at them but its so much better for my mental health to instead try gentle teaching and understand they didn't know any better.
“That 3 month old [that’s suppose to be a newborn in the scene] has a ton of hair” my daughter was born with that much hair 😅 the doc was like “Woah, she has a head full of hair!” As I was in labor lol
an intern had been sent in to check whether or not I was fully dilated and ny son was already in the crowning position, so the intern said "oh, wow, that is a lot of hair, that is a lot of hair"
I can relate: I had nightmares about childbirth since I was 17 then I had a baby when I was 32 and went to my 38 week check up by buses and train as usual just feeling just a bit anxious, otherwise totally normal. Thought it was just one of my panic attacks, & zero pain. Halfway through the checkup the nurse asked if I was in pain I wasn't but she informed me I was having contractions. I was dilating very slowly, more that 24 hours, so they induced with a bubble to expand my cervix. That did hurt but I'd had plenty of cramps, sports injuries, migraines, etc that hurt more than that. I planned on getting an epidural but wanted to see how bad the pain was, it never got worse and I, too, have had constipation bowel movements that hurt more. But I got the epidural because why be in any pain if I don't have to. I told them they should give epidurals more often based on pain not just based on what is occurring. Anyway, 36 hours after being admitted, three hard pushes just like constipation and my son came out. It was so easy, nothing like TV. I was like I could have done that myself in the woods. My, then fiancé was there and he agreed saying it was like watching Nat Geo and 15 mins after baby was born baby Jamie and I were ready to go. He breastfeed right away while looking at me in the face and gripping my breast ( later he continued that habit with my shirts after nursing like "don't go anywhere I may want more after a quick cat nap, even now almost 3 if I'm reading to him in my lap I'll notice him from my shirt and leaving drool, A couple different schools of thought on that habit) I didn't have any birthing classes because if COVID. I really though we could leave even though the new daddy was vomiting in bathroom and the doc and nurses were tending to him for 45 minutes because he's somewhat squeamish and caught a glimpse of the placenta coming out lol, while new mom and baby were taking little walks and ready to go home. It was 😂 hilarious that Dad was the only one who seemed to need medical attention. I just kept asking if we could go now lol I knew nothing about the mandatory 2-3 days of observation even when healthy mom and baby. And yes they let us go at the earliest time because mom (me) and baby were super ready and ok. I walked out of the hospital holding my baby and a bag while Dad had the other stuff. Even my stomach went completely flat as soon as delivery was over. I hope it all ( pregnancy and delivery) goes well the next time. I'd just need a new Dad because that one didn't work out, single and ready to mingle 🎉🎉 Sorry for typos I'm up passed my bedtime 🥱😮💨
I LOVE two dots! I always play it while I watch RUclips videos, so I was in the middle of playing when I saw the sponsor 😂 I’m on level 1749 (I’ve been playing for YEARS), so I have definitely past level 117, but I don’t remember it at all. Haha I’ll scroll back in the game and try to play it again and reply to this comment with any tips if I have them. It’s seriously a fantastic game!
For a round like this from the start I look for three of the same color in an upside down L position like below. I try to remove one below the right blue (below) and hope another blue falls so I can make a square. 🔵🔵 🔵🔴 I often find if I can make two or more squares close together I start getting more squares easier after that. Took me two rounds to get a good enough layout to beat 117 just now (it was probably largely luck tbh), but I used this method to clear a lot of the glass, and at some point I stopped getting lucky with squares, but I had cleared enough glass and had enough remaining turns that I was able to just focus on clearing the glass with two or three dot connections to still win (only one star but oh well haha). And my only other tip, which you probably know, is to just really pay attention to where the portals match up to know where the dots above will fall. Anyways, you may no longer be stuck, but incase you are hope this helps!
Level 671 here! I scrolled back to try 177 and I have to say it's a tough one. Keep trying! Eventually, you get lucky and the colours line up just right.
I had a friend in high school who described her labor was like taking a really big poop. I had a second friend who said the same thing. Now I am not a woman but have had 12 major surgeries. I realize most people forget the extreme pain they were in. I have experienced that myself.
I have my issues with meat and well... after a feast of ribs... lots of protein and lots of fat... congratulations it's a new subtenant 🎉 I also just realised I'd be such a mean mom, cause I'd have the greatest fun calling my kid "my lil poopy"
that was a running joke in our family when my sister was little. Dad used to tell her she comes from twins, the first was the poop and then she. Our dad’s weird.
I’m currently taking Rifampin for endocarditis, and Rifampin has all kinds of crazy drug interactions. My docs explained to me very carefully that they need to know EVERYTHING I am taking, even otc drugs because the list of interactions is so long and crazy for that one. Oh ya, and it turns my pee bright orange… happy Halloween! Thanks for a great vid mamma!
@@nastassjahall9358 I had rubbed the hair off one side of my head and was born in the 80's with hair only on one side of my head- my Dad worked with the teenagers at our Church while I was a baby... somewhere there is a photograph before the bald side had caught up where the teenagers spiked up the hair on the one side of my head
@@jessicaroseelizabethp.7911 lol that's great. My daughter managed to rub off all the hair on the top of her head so she looked like a monk baby for like 3 months until she rubbed the sides off too 😅 At almost a year, she has about as much hair as she did as a newborn. But at least she's not rubbing it off anymore!
My mother found out she was pregnant in mid-April, and I was born the first week in August! She also had been on the pill. However, no antibiotics were involved, the 'mini-pill' she was on, was taken off the market 6 months after I was born! 😂 My dad was the one who insisted she go to the doctor. Her period was 'lighter than normal ', but she thought the pill was helping with that. 😊
Hi I love the vid! As a teen I don't know what I will do as an adult yet, but your videos put OBGYN in the top three things I want as a job! BTW love the fetus lamp in the background! (I know its been there for ages but just felt like complimenting it today.) 😊
I appreciate the justice for bald babies. Both of my little guys were bald for sssooo long. I thought it was rude when my first son finally grew a bit of hair and it was curly and very...VERY red and my friend just went 'oh.....oh no...what happened?' Dude what the hell? He's adorable bald or with red hair! My second son has only JUST needed his first haircut at 3. It's so fine and so strawberry blonde. My beautiful hairless children.
I always wondered why babies looked white when they came out. I know pretty much zero about babies. They scare the living hell out of me. My sister used to plop my niece on my lap and that would make her soooo calm she would poop. 🤣 Guess I was useful. She would scream because her belly hurt. Sister said she had issues because she was born like a month early. We found out she didn't scream when I held her and she would take a fat duce 🤣 Uncle Kevin was good for something I guess 🤣
Yeah they say a lot of dad’s think the baby is dead because they’re born with that white gunk on them and just looking the opposite what you think when you think of new life
Hahah, my youngest brother wanted nothing to do with small children until he got comfortable with my kids. We basically forced him to hold my first baby. He's still a bit awkward with babies, and I don't know if he'll ever actually want children of his own, but he's turned into a pretty fun uncle at family events.
It’s always great to see you react to this show lol. Also I would just like to say that recently somebody my aunt knows had a baby and she did not know she was pregnant either, it was crazy to hear that this kind of thing actually really happens in real life!
My son's wife started labor in the middle of the night but didn't want to wake my son up because she wasn't sure she was in labor, it was her first baby, so she stayed up all night, in pain, by herself. 😢 Finally at 7 am my son got up to use the bathroom and she casually mentioned that she might be in labor. My son went into panic mode, grabbed his phone, her bag and within 15 minutes they were on their way to the hospital. My son called me from the car to tell me that they were going to the hospital. I thought, ok, she'll be awhile, so I thought I had time to get a shower, straightened up, etc and my phone rings 30 minutes later from my son's first call. They got to the hospital and she delivered my grandchild 10 minutes after she walked in the door. I couldn't believe she was up all night by herself. She said she didn't know if it was labor or not. All I kept thinking was, thank goodness he got up to use the bathroom, otherwise he would have woken up from a baby crying!! She was so brave!!
They need to talk about "feeling safe to disturb each other for medical issies". And you wanna have a talk about how bad her period pains are and if she possibly was not sure because she has bad period craps and does not know that that's not normal and can point towards things like endometriosis. Thus she possibly thought those pain levels are her "normal". Cause I can tell you it's very hard to know what "normal" is when it comes to ppains and periods and how we are very widely taught that pain is to be expected. Which can then lead to such discernment issues. If she was lucky and had very little pain (aka opposite case), then I'm very glad for her
I love the information you give us! You have such a wonderful personality! ❤️ Edited to add: Two Dots can be so frustrating when you get in the 400’s levels. I’ve been stuck for days as well! 😡 As much as I want to delete the app sometimes, I can’t admit defeat 😂
I had not reached level 10 yet, but I had downloaded it again to support this channel since I had recently purchased a new smartphone and so I did not have 2 dots on here
This girl had the easiest labor I've ever heard of! I'm at the part where she's about to flush 😳 omg it was the baby!!!! Ahhhhh! This girl is hard-core! Props mama ! I've never had a child, but I cannot imagine how painful and scary it could be
I love these videos. This happened to me I was 33 weeks along when my oldest made her appearance. I was 20 years old dealing with other things to not focus on changes in my body. It was something I will never forget.
I accidentally gave myself Zinc poisoning with Pedialyte and I was so bounded up for 2 days the pain I was experiencing was so intense. It’s probably as close as I could guess labor feels like. I am a trans man and I’ve been pregnant once before but had a miscarriage around 3 and a half months along. The uterus is a crazy thing.
For the longest time when watching these videos I was always like “yea I can see why they didn’t know”. I mean if they take a test which comes up negative and still have some bleeding going on, I got it. HOWEVER, I am currently pregnant with my first child in week 25 and now I find these scenarios utterly bewildering. I mean even with a negative pregnancy test and a “cycle” how do you not notice your baby moving inside you? If I didn’t know I was pregnant and felt my little one doing acrobatics in my belly, I’d be freaking out and running to a doctor asap. I just don’t get how anyone could miss that 😅
It can depend on the placement of the placenta. Some women don't feel as much movement of the baby because of that. That was not my experience but just what I've read/heard.
It's just usually one change in the process..
momma could you do some of the births from call the midwife and discuss some of the differences from the 50s to now?
What’s the deal with the baby already having pierced ears!?!?!?😮
My baby bro was born with a full head of hair as was I and both my kids lol
Also my Brother who is the older of my two youngers mom kept telling the doc baby is coming and I'm not pushing! He was across the room trying to get gloves on (he never did succeed lol) the water broke his head and shoulders popped out and I touched his head (I was shy of 3) asked why his hair was so wet and the doctor ran across the room just in time to catch him from falling off the bed😂
"We do the best we can with the information we have" has also become a common refrain in my own life. It is amazing how comforting it is.
I used this phrase with my mom recently. My dad passed about a week ago from cancer, found at stage 4. She has a lot of regrets and woulda, coulda, shoulda thoughts. If he'd said something sooner, if a doctor would have ran tests sooner, etc
We did the best we could with the information we had at the time.
@@samanthatyler8260 I am so sorry for your loss. That sucks.
I hope you and your mom find comfort in knowing you did the best you could.
Aff, it's terrible they make you looks stupid when was the nurses fault.
Sounds like they were trying to cover their butts! Sorry you went through that, but WOW what a story! 🤯
They were avoiding a lawsuit. They were short staffed and quite likely sent you home
Have a hatred of Dumb OBs. I literally battle the dumb OBs of Kaiser permanente religiously. They make dumb decisions. And don’t care.
Thank goodness one of you called 911 and you made it out ok. That's horrible conduct by the paper and the hospital. Just wow.
As someone who suffers chronic constipation… I can understand why she would be quiet and not realize what’s happening. Especially if that was normal for her, then you build up a truly huge pain tolerance for things stretching you wide open.
I get constipated a lot too :( it sucks and sometimes I've mistaken the pain for menstrual cramps so I can understand why she thought it was that. :)
I’ve vomited from that pain before - leaves me curled up in a ball on the floor 😭
Like it’s the same level as my absolutely horrendous period pains and I’ve often wondered if both are what labour feels like
I like how her mom goes “Abby did what?!?” Like she committed a crime, not had a baby 😂

Wow, Kalhea, Well done for having such a switched-on boyfriend!!!

Also, Nylak Otter - Congrats on your tiny human!!

HER PAIN TOLERANCE. Most women were like "I had accepted I was going to die today" and she was like "I thought I had to poop" A rockstar!!!!!!!!!!
Makes me wonder how painful her poops are usually 😳
Yeah woman needs to see a nutrition specialist or something, drink more water, use laxatives.
This honestly made me laugh out loud. Yep, while most women in this show are accepting death, she thought she’d pooped and was ready to go to bed.
@@violetsanddragons Or maybe she just got IBS-C or something similar. ^^, OH the pain
Her ability to endure pain toes the line with being supernatural.
✊
Saaaaame! I've often wondered how much worse labor could possibly be.
Same, I’ve literally had to pull a trash can to myself to vomit because of the pain.
As someone who has Celiac and feels like they are dying after consuming gluten, I feel you.
I’ve definitely nearly passed out during IBS attacks before - cold sweat, ears ringing, vision getting fuzzy, unable to sit straight.

I’ve fainted from the pain of IBS constipation a few times but I didn’t make a sound. Probably a thud when I hit the bathroom floor. 😁
My labor felt like poop cramps as well, I can see how she thought it was just constipation
I'm not gonna lie, I would absolutely die if I had to come out of the bathroom and say, "hey babe, you know how I thought I was sick? You'll never guess what happened...."
Right!
Like how awkward 😂
I simply could not. I'd never leave that bathroom.

This woman is so unbelievably strong, the fact that she did it without any tears or barely any screams at all is mindblowing

My brother was born when I was about 4 years old. I was curious and kept asking kid-questions about what it was like. My mom said you used the same muscles as when you go to the bathroom. I thought about that for a bit, and asked, "when you go poop, do you ever get confused and think you're having a baby?"
My family would laugh about that story for years... turns out its not so far-fetched
ngl that first post-c-section poop actually did hurt worse than labor

God you poor thing.
LMAO sorry I am not laughing with your pain, I went thruogh unmedicated births. But your comment " take me now , lord". Im deceased XD
I have ibs and it’s consistently this horrible

Yep, I've just found screaming a waste of energy. I go internal to deal with the pain and breathe/live through it.
I don't track them as religiously as I track my period!) and now whenever you make the "time of the month" joke I die a little inside (specifically, my uterus dies a little)
They are relatively random but approximately monthly 😆
I'm usually near the end of my period but this month I just found out I'm pregnant... And I know 🤣🤣🤣
@@samanthab5006 Congratulations 🎊 ❤🌺
Hahaha me too!!!!
Same.
😂😂lol
😂😂
An old deaf lady I worked with told me that her mother had her in the toilet. She didn't know she was pregnant and she had some sort of blood clot disorder where she regularly had bad blood clots in the toilet. Ms. Kathy said her mom tried to flush her not realizing it was a baby. Ms. Kathy is 70 years old and a very Godly woman. She told me that story many times over the 7 years we worked together.
"Everybody's favorite time of the month! Much better than that other time of the month..."
MDJ is a mood
She makes me smile EVERY SINGLE TIME with that line. It should be old by now, but instead I just get excited.
I watch these videos during that other time of the month
After he was born the doctor was talking and asking the post birth epidural stuff and the nurse just holds up the IV or whatever it’s called and was like, I didn’t get a chance to put it in
facts I've had three babies and the middle one was an accidental unmedicated birth and I most definitely scream pushed her out.
Interesting.
I’ve had 3 babies, and with all 3 the “urge to push” just felt like pooping. 🤷♀️
2 pushes and they were out (with all 3).
No screaming, just bearing down and focusing (like when I poop)
🤷♀️ We are all so different.
As soon as they mentioned that birth control, I could see the frustration start to build on your face, girl!! 😆
Awe. You're truly a kind soul! I really enjoy your videos!
Sometimes an antibiotic can result in nausea ( and in turn vomiting) or diarrhea, which could result in the contraceptive not being fully absorbed.
Maybe phrase this as a question for the doctor to answer
@@mizlindsayk it’s not really a question it’s actually a statement that has some fact to it
Back in the 90's, I worked with two women who got pregnant with 'erythromycin' babies because a upper respiratory infection was making the rounds of our department store.
Yes I was thinking the same thing. I have deffenitly gotten the morning for this reason a number of times!
My mum was apparently the same way when she was born! Born with a mop of long, black hair and then it all fell out and she was a blonde ever since.
@@punkemunky yeah my hairy boy was prem too, only 6 weeks, nothing scary like a 27weeker though!
I have always wanted to be a doctor like you since I was 2.
I literally wait ALL month for these new episodes, It doesn't feel like this series has been going on as long as it has..
We love ya Dr Jones! (ShortRound voice)
I hope this series never stops haha. It truly is one of my favorite times of the month.
I love how understanding you are with both parents
Hello 👋 how are you doing??
@@Godwinpounds4333 Go away scammer!
Wow. Sounds like just the kind of idiot who ought to keep breeding too 🙄😒
Maybe she got early labour due to upside down roller coaster rides, she should not have sat in a roller coaster during pregnancy, due to which baby was born prematurely
Needless to say I can understand going into labor, not making a sound and finding a baby in a toilet.
where the hell was the father
That’s DEFINITELY shock, I can’t imagine.
I still love the intro to these videos, it makes me laugh every time Thanks MDJ for keeping it in your videos!

This is too funny 😂 best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy!
Congratulations!
I just want to say thank you for doing these videos! With the info you shared I was able to help my sister deliver her baby! The doctor sent her home saying she wasn’t having contractions. Her and baby are healthy! So thank you for doing these videos !
i've seen so many of these that I just recite the "we do the best we can" spiel along with you. I love these episodes
Oh my gosh! Mama Doctor Jones, you have the same first name as me! I didn’t even realize!😊
Absolutely same. I have an IUD, and I keep pregnancy tests in the bathroom, just in case.
@@Lessons-ik2qm Same I have a Mirena and I take pregnancy tests every now and then just in case cuz I don’t get a period
The fear is always there😂
Friend: "where did you get born?"
Her: "a toilet"
This is actually the only episode I've seen on TV.
MDJ is the sole reason I keep pregnancy tests on hand at all times and take a test at the slightest change in sensations in my body 😅
She’s literally like “did you sneeze at a strange time of day? Best to be sure with a pregnancy test” 😂
the mom must have been used to having bad cramps or constipation to not realize they were contractions lol🤣
My husband and I always joke about me being able to possibly laugh a baby out because my periods are already so horrible due to PCOS/PMDD, that the cramps I get come in waves just like contractions lmfao. So we both feel I'll be able to handle childbirth like a pro!!!
@@RedRoseSeptember22 What is PMDD?
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder
I remember when the book (and later movie) “My Left Foot” was being discussed on a talk show, the author’s Cerebral Palsy was possibly attributed to his mother not realizing she was pregnant and giving birth on the toilet. And as a result, he received a severe head and neck injury. Side note: the poor mother eventually gave birth 22 times, 9 died in infancy.
I was given Azithromycin and I’m so glad the pharmacist told me that it can interfere with my BC. Otherwise I could have had a baby!
I used to get similar changes in my cycle but I have endometriosis so...
Hate to say it, but I can kinda relate to some of it. I have IBS. And I go both ways. It gets really painful when you get constipated.

My son too
Yep all of my mom's babies (including me) had full heads of hair ^.~
My hair was so long at birth that my mother could put my hair in pigtails by six months. Meanwhile my sister was totally bald until she was two!
My mom told me the same thing. My brothers were bald, I had 3 inches of hair and it never fell out.
an intern had been sent in to check whether or not I was fully dilated and ny son was already in the crowning position, so the intern said "oh, wow, that is a lot of hair, that is a lot of hair"
I can relate:
I had nightmares about childbirth since I was 17 then I had a baby when I was 32 and went to my 38 week check up by buses and train as usual just feeling just a bit anxious, otherwise totally normal. I'd just need a new Dad because that one didn't work out, single and ready to mingle 🎉🎉

I often find if I can make two or more squares close together I start getting more squares easier after that.
I got very into 2 dots in the early months of the pandemic and now I'm on 2675...

Hello 👋 how are you doing?
I always wondered why babies looked white when they came out. I know pretty much zero about babies. They scare the living hell out of me. My sister used to plop my niece on my lap and that would make her soooo calm she would poop. 🤣 Guess I was useful. She would scream because her belly hurt. Sister said she had issues because she was born like a month early. We found out she didn't scream when I held her and she would take a fat duce 🤣 Uncle Kevin was good for something I guess 🤣
Lol
Yeah they say a lot of dad’s think the baby is dead because they’re born with that white gunk on them and just looking the opposite what you think when you think of new life
Hahah, my youngest brother wanted nothing to do with small children until he got comfortable with my kids. We basically forced him to hold my first baby. Mama Doctor Jones has hilarious commentary & reactions 😂

Even if there is no chance of being pregnant it's still good to check when your period is acting up
For the longest time when watching these videos I was always like “yea I can see why they didn’t know”.
Different babies, different pregnancies. Sometimes even other things you have can mask the pregnancy. It's crazy but it can happen.
