    Years ago on the " Cops " series a woman was being videotaped while being booked for DUI. She offered all kinds of favors to the state trooper which he politely refused. She was shown the video after sobering up, broke down crying and swore to never drink again. She was on the show years later saying she still wasn't drinking and the video changed her life.

    • @LauraS1
      @LauraS1 Год назад +24

      Addiction can sink its hooks into you so deep, they're almost impossible to get out and that's why they repeat their actions even though they KNOW the alcohol or drugs are making them behave this way. They can control it but only to a degree unless they get serious rehab help and even then that's no guarantee. I don't mean this to say or imply that I defend or condone or absolve them from their behavior and their choices, mind you. I just want folks to know that sometimes, addiction is nearly impossible to overcome and it will get in the driver's seat of your life and you aren't calling your own shots after that.
      Edited to add that I know of this by watching my brother sink into alcoholism and knowing he's unable to control it any more. It's cost him jobs, his first wife and both children and now his current wife is considering leaving him over his drinking and the person he becomes when he's drunk, which is nearly all the time. He's 61 and literally looks like he's 85 or so, he's so bent and wizened and gray haired from the alcohol.

      @LauraS1 Год назад +17

      @@samwoods3430 Because each of these people started out as someone's precious baby (most of them) and had potential to have a decent life like the rest of us. Somewhere along their way in life, they got derailed and couldn't rescue themselves. Lol that is a true alcoholic answer. I told the same thing to a cop and the cop used zip ties.😊

    I love how many arrestees threaten to sue because they're being arrested. LOL There is a time and a place to sue for treatment you are subjected to during an arrest but doing so during the arrest is not that time or place.

    I've been asked before why I do not drink or do any drugs (except caffeine because, tea and coffee are a thing), and the reason is simple: because I never want to act like these people do...and because the thought of possibly causing harm to others while in such an altered state is something that, a someone who has lost a beloved friend to a drunk/high "driver", is repugnant.

      @Zentierra you know you can microdose small amounts and you won’t act like these fools. It’s actually very enjoyable as opposed to being stone cold sober all the time. It really provides a completely different perspective and can often be beneficial. To each their own though.

      @@ryanblanchard2508 as a recovering alcoholic, I only worry about my own sober journey. While I believe that people can drink responsibility and enjoyably, I have to disagree with you that stone cold sobriety isn’t enjoyable. I love being sober far more than drinking. To each their own…

    That one dude who said he has a dog and fiance, I feel sorry for the both of them. And if some woman accepts him as her fiance, I'd like to see who she's turning down.
