Hey Rollers! Let me know in the comments below what Agnes and Calvin should do next. I'll take your feedback to decide! Introduction 0:10 | Agnes Baker Overview 2:20 | Calvin Wright 7:12 | Round/Rules/Scenario Overview 13:05 | 1st Round 27:18
I think you're describing the focus tokens incorrectly. I didn't go back and double check exactly what you said, but... Focus tokens are used to add a die to the roll of the test that you have the focus token for, AND they can be used to reroll one for for ANY test, not just the skill they represent. Example: You can spend a strength focus token to reroll a test that tested Lore, willpower, etc.
That's correct! I'll be explaining the full rules of Focus tokens when they come into play. This was a high level overview to start. Thanks for watching! :)
Awesome seeing this play through. I am having a great time playing this game as well. One friendly gaming tip I'd like to share is be mindful of the symbols in the area the investigators end up in. At the Unvisited Isle, you got very lucky with passing the scenario card with just one die roll. But if you had put the other character there instead she would have been able to roll 4(i think) dice. The symbols on the area for Isle show you have a high chance of doing a test that involves Lore or Will. I know sometimes you have to end up in spaces because you are dealing with doom but as there will be more options to go to later in this game because doom will be everywhere, it's good to increase your characters chances of good outcomes in the scenario phase. Those symbols also pertain to the clue cards as well. An Arkham Advertiser clue card will probably need a remnant, just like their other regular cards.
Thanks Adam, I love all the Lovecraft games. I have Eldritch Horror and Arkham Horror LCG. I don't have Arkham Horror 1 or 2 edition but played it on Table top Simulator. Hopefully this game will arrive tomorrow so your series is really helpful. I do like your clue tokens, I shall have to see if we have them in the UK. I think Serenity makes a fantastic random cup generator. Sorry for rambling on for so long, cheers.
Ramble all you want! I love the LCG and Eldritch Horror as well. Both get a ton of play time. The tokens are great. Almost want another set to have more of them. Serenity (when awake) will be included as much as I can :)
The third edition looks so much different but mostly because of the map shape , it like a different game with same mechanic! the dices , the art , just cant stop loving it , very nicely explained game threw , bravo :)
Hey Valency! The map tiles really don’t give it a different and unique look compared to the original board. I miss a little of the aged look of the 1st and 2nd edition. But love the much better focus on art and theme in this edition. Easier to get sucked in. Modular was a smart move. I also love it! Thanks for watching ;)
If I were to pick one BOARD GAME in Arkham universe (already got and loving the LCG version) - which one would be the best if it comes to replayability and fun when it comes to rolling solo? I was debating between Eldritch Horror, MoM 2nd ED and this one? Which one would be the best (i know all are great games, need to choose one as bday present). Thanks!
That is a super tough call. So tough in fact that I have all of them. That's not a solution for you though and if you're looking for just one and I had to let them all go but one I would likely tip my hat towards Mansions of Madness. Ask me on a different day and I may say the LCG haha Eldritch Horror is more fun with others than solo I find. But it does play fantastic solo as well. Arkham Horror 3rd Edition is too new to have thoughts on. Hope this helps!
hi ! this video is the one that got me interessted in Solo board gaming 3 years ago. through the years, I bought a couple ones and kept saying that I would buy AH 3rd edition next time. Last week, I finally did ! I'm having so much fun and I'm looking forward to buy the expansions. have you played them all ?
Locations says what you need to get clues or other stuff that you can get From that particular location. So it is very important thing to consider. Who is best in each location. Does the investigator have the money or remnants or skill to get that thing you Are after at!
That’s right! Those icons similar to a Eldritch Horror are giving you a heads up on what is likely to be the skill check and rewards encountered there. Something to take note of for sure. Thanks for watching! :)
Yes. In the rules each player will take turns during the action phase and will have the option to use an attack action on any monster that they are engaged with or is in their current location, even if it is engaged with another investigator. Hope that helps. This game isn't so different than the LCG version, which I actually found to be a bit more complicated. I love the quality of this game and the fact that I can play with up to 6 ppl, unlike the LCG which would require additional purchases of base game. My gripe with FFG is going to be the same old song though...your box sucks for storage. A simple black, plastic insert with a few slots would suffice. We don't need the weird cardboard insert with the graphic on it that is so obviously a waste of your money and ours. Have fun.
Calvin and Agnes should change districts so Calvin can complete the clue and Agnes can explore the two clues at his district. I never really “got” either the Arkham LCG or... i forget the name: Globetrotter Horror ;) I had to sell them both and I very rarely let a game go. But this. This! Looks good! :) thanks for making this playthrough.
Good suggestion Jens! I’ll see what I can do in the next one. Great to hear this version may be in the one for you! Hope I can give you a better idea as we go :)
I know this is an oldie but I loved the set up and the start of the play-through; so helpful. Can I ask, is there any deployability with these scenarios or does the core box only have four plays in it? I'm definitely thinking of picking it up as I''m a huge fan of Eldritch and AH2...but unlike everyone else on the planet I'm not a fan of the card game. Many thanks.
Something else I wanted to mention about this game. It being so streamlined you must pay close attention to the rules about how to handle discards and reshuffles with ALL the decks. Also the proper way to gain items from which deck. Great game but it’s a little weird at first to get all that down.
Absolutely! The game handles discards, draws from the top and bottom of decks etc very differently. Something to be aware of with this one! You’re right that it does feel a bit weird but becomes easy after a few plays.
I started playing an easier storyline with my sister yesterday and we beat it twice (veil of twilight). Makes me think we messed up some rules since it was relatively easy. But this storyline kicked our ass tonight :/ Gonna watch this series again to see if I missed something :)
We failed Azathoth again, after nearly 3 hours. I'm thinking of using more characters than players, this is so difficult :/ I got the Dead of Night expansion for xmas but haven't opened it yet! Gonna try the feast next, doesn't look any easier xD
I started a solo of this and part way through realized I messed up a rule pretty bad. I thought when you got a clue it went straight to the scenario board, instead of having to research it. So I stopped and will have to start over. In the meantime, I'll watch your play through :)
Hey datalink! That would certainly make the situation a bit easier. Save you some actions haha If that's all you got wrong that's not bad at all. You caught yourself so keep up the good fight!
Yeah I think that was my only error, but it was kind of a big one. Part of it was I was half way through and thought to myself "I thought this game was supposed to be much more difficult" so I reread certain rules. I was basically skipping two things. One, the fact that you have to draw the right encounter card to even get to the clue in the first place. Two, that you then have to research the clue onto the scenario card. I was just moving to the clues and then researching them right to the scenario card :D
One thing you could do but it’s a little risky. You could move him into the space with the monster and evade. If successful the monster will be exhausted and you will be right back in your spot to try to get a clue in the encounter phase. You could move her down in that neighborhood too if you wanted.
With AH there inherently a lot of games using the same art, design and content. So it’s tough to not mention when you’ve played them all. Thanks for watching Jeff!
Rolling Solo, How can we be sure you didn't put her up to the doom token theft? Candy talks!! It's Not like we can accuse you of cheating and no one is going to hold her accountable. It's no wonder you win often 😂. Other games to "play" with her: Ghost Stories Spirit Island Robinson Caruso Atlantis Rising.
It might be different in real life. But so far the boards shapes and colors have only reminded me of a kids game, removing all the atmosphere. A shame, since the concept and mechanics seems solid.
Interesting thoughts Rasmus! I found it to be the opposite. I enjoy the focus on art and drawing you into the location you're on. I found the old Arkham Horror made it seem like you moved from name to name across a brown backdrop with a faint city look. I much prefer the new board. I do agree that the shape of the board pieces are interesting but I guess they wanted to be able to use angles. The game plays very very well. I was happy with my off camera plays. :)
I think the thing I like about the previous AH board is it looked aged. That's something they should have pulled over with this new one. Would have been a nice blend between the two.
@@RollingSolo the aged look you mention is exactly what i am missing. The artwork and visual design in this game is super crisp and clean. While every FFG Arkham game before it have had this "gothic" and unnerving look and feel to it. Guess i will have to find a copy inorder to pass my final judgment :) and the expansion possibilities with this new board also has me really excited.
I enjoy this modular board as we build up the area(s) of arkham that is involved in the scenario, and it opens up amazing opportunities for expansion. We might see new areas or current areas but with some changed state representing some disaster or occult plagues/mists etc. Maybe an old dirt track connector piece leads to a tile representing an abandoned old house deep in the woods. Or a railroad connector piece leads to the trainstation in a different town! Endless possibilities! What I DONT like about this new board though is the puzzleshaped connections. They should have left them flat edged and just placed together.

At around 30:00, shouldn’t you have rolled 5 dice for Ward action with Calvin? He has the spirit dagger that gives him +2 to lore.
Hey! I'll have to take another look but you may have caught something there. If so, good eye!
Thx for this good, clear video! I'm using it for my first playtrough and it's realy helpfull!
No problem! Glad to help 😄
Flesh ward! I always take her damage dealing but maybe with just Calvin it was needed. She's my battlemage!
Nice! Not a bad plan. 😄
Serenity is a Star ⭐️
I crack up when her little hand comes into the frame and grabs those tokens off the board. 😂
haha She certainly is. That was super funny. Swiping the doom token away like a champ!

She did a killer job pulling some nasty tokens on me loo
congrats on 10K

When to take and resolve card from Event deck?
Hello Lukas! I’d have to take a look into this as it’s been a bit for me. Hopefully you already got it figured out? 😜

@@RollingSolo still happy with it? Do you think this Game Will keep growing over the next years ?
I think so! But it’s on the throes edition so I could see another edition coming down the two too.
Thank you
You’re welcome!
