AH is one of my all-time favorites. Played the 1st and 2nd edition a ton. Have played Eldritch Horror like crazy over the past two years. Good to have a revised version of AH back in the mix hey? Well overdue :)
Kneecapper : I think it has a lot of replayability. Even when you pick an investigator you have options with what cards to bring with them. There is enough variety in the encounter decks and event deck to keep you come back again and again, not to mention the randomness of items, spells, allies, and the dice themselves. Even some of the scenarios have different choices you can make. I mean, it definitely has more replayability than the core set of Arkham Horror LCG for example.
I'm about 1/2 through my first game, and I am LOVING it. I really like 2nd edition, and have played many times, but this new one blows it away. Nikkie Valens knocked it out of the park with this one. FFG losing her is a HUGE loss. The way the narrative unfolds adds the crucial element to the game that was missing from 2nd edition - an ebb and flow to the plot. Everything happens for a reason in this game. It really feels like you are having an impact on the game state while playing. HIGHLY recommended.
Great video as always. I played the game solo twice over the weekend, and failed both times! This game, for me anyway, was very difficult, but oh so fun! Can't wait to see the playthrough!
Me too. Something about the focus on the art really draws me in. Going from a full board to modular is an interesting choice but I like it so far. I can see the possibilities being pretty crazy with this system. Plus AH has needed a face lift for quite some time!
Also undecided...I have almost everything from 2nd edition so I'm not sure if I want to invest in another edition again since it's certain there will be a ton of expansions to follow 😮
Hahaha! you beat me to it. I was just going to start a playthough of This😃😃😃! With the same characters. Looking forward to how your game turns out! It will be interesting to see how different your game will be. I say take the voice. I would also take the flesh ward I’m excited for this game! Absolutely amazing setup video as usual. thanks for a great video!
Hey MMATT! One of my fav games ever!! I know Arkham Horror has a place in many gamers collections from back in the day. Has a lot of great memories tied to it for me. This was a no brainer purchase for me. Thanks for the kind words and feedback. All the best in your adventure as well my friend! :)
I’m probably going to make you cringe when I tell you I’m a Arkham horror newbie :). Played the card game but this will be my first crack at the board game. Super excited to watch your play through.
Olivier Prevot my play through will be coming. Please enjoy Adam Smith’s (rolling solo) video. His play through will be better then mine, his videos are unmatched! I’m looking forward to his play through so I can learn a thing or 2 or 3 or 20. He is the Arkham horror guru!!!
Hey Carlos! Great question. I can’t remember off hand to be honest (which is kinda sad lol) but this game you really want to have two or more investigators. Just like most of the Arkham and Eldritch games. It’s in your favour to do so!
Agnes i think should have (Flesh Ward) so as to have the ability to heal both herself as well as Calvin, since it's they beginning of the game who knows what to expect? And as for Calvin (Accept) the Dark pack! Re-Rolls are always needed in Arkham, and besides it's not Arkham without someone being involved in a Dark Pact...😀
Dear Rolling solo, can't wait for your playthrough! :) I would say Storm of spirits for Agnes and no Dark Pact for Calvin which is much too dangerous to have at the beginning of the game.
What Madusa said below. I want a horror game to my arsenal (deep madness is too expensive), i have backed Anomoly, and arkham horror is at my game store :P
I have the impression that the dark pact has some good effect but with a timer (die roll) before bad effects kick in, taking 1 at start of game would be dangerous if true. I have seen TragicTableTop complete you tube play through and impression of the game after 7 or 8 videos., check them out.
Nice! I enjoy his content too. I’ve avoided playthroughs so I can go into this without any prior knowledge except my own off camera plays. You’re right about the Dark Pact, it’s a gamble. I’m going to go with whichever is voted for the most. For or against!
Great question Stefan! I’d use the rulebook to determine placement. For this playthrough (I used a much smaller table at the time of filming) they were of camera. Just ensure they’re within easy reach. You’ll give the character health and sanity damage as they receive it. Cheers!
Hey! Good catch. You know what’s weird is that the card is sitting just outside the frame. I must have not included it in the shot. It’s part of the deck for sure for the playthrough! Cheers
@@RollingSolo Agreed. Storm of Spirts. Flesh Ward damage mitigation seems more support oriented and with 2, need all the whoop ass you can get. Agnes is my favorite Arkham Files investigator!
It looks fantastic but it seems set up time is way too long for my group. However, that was a fantastic set-up video, I can't imagine it being more comprehensive.
Thanks Mike! Glad it helped. If I was setting this up without filming it would take less than ten minutes. That gets faster as you become more familiar and also if you ore organize components! Cheers!
My girlfriend and I have watched countless help and walk through videos. Read the instructions front to back.... Many many times. Yet we still haven't got a clue what's going on or even how to start the game... Or the objective of the whole damn thing. Very frustrating. What on earth is going on!?
Yes we have watched your walk through, which was actually really great, but we are still completely clueless in regards to even starting the game or the objective of what we are supposed to be doing. I'll give it one more watch/chance then it's going on Ebay!
Ah, that's too bad Ian. Not all games work for everyone. The objective is the narrative deck. You start with cards that branch off each other based on which you succeed at the objective or fail (trigger a fail condition sometimes). This is shown in my videos. The first card can go multiple ways and so on.
I played this game 7 times over the weekend and absolutely love it! (Lost 3 won 4.) Quickly becoming one of my favorites.
AH is one of my all-time favorites. Played the 1st and 2nd edition a ton. Have played Eldritch Horror like crazy over the past two years. Good to have a revised version of AH back in the mix hey? Well overdue :)
Did you try all the scenarios?
The Dungeon Dive I did. They’re all pretty cool and different. Very fun. :) But I’m already for more. :p
Thanks for info. Without expansions how much re-playability do you think there is?
Kneecapper : I think it has a lot of replayability. Even when you pick an investigator you have options with what cards to bring with them. Good luck in your future plays as well!
I really like the look of this game, the setup card is always a great idea. Interested to see how this compares to all the others.

Watching this and looking to see if I want a copy.
Hey Madusa! Hope this gives you a good idea of the components and setup time. Cheers!

@@sk-gr3nu I love Eldritch Horror and this one I might be able to get my niece into it without having to use the whole damn table.
Disliking it so far. (seen 4 reviews now)
Is there much point in having this and eldritch horror?
I prefer Eldritch Horror over this one but only slightly. They both are very different games with the same theme.
I have both and love them both! Different but in a good way. Keeps everything fresh feeling. So far for me
I eventually went the completely other way and got the lotr lcg revised core set
@@robkeeley1570 I wanna try that too, how do you like it?

Ooo! Some opposition to the Dark Pact. It sounds sketchy right? Thanks for the feedback!
@@RollingSolo yes because at the start of the game you will roll a 1 sometime. But near the end of the game you can tempt fate.
What happens if monster deck is depleted
Great question! Not sure off hand as it’s been a bit since I played this one. Got my head in the LCG moreso.
You said to shuffle the headline deck and then deal 3 of them, then said these 13 will make up your headline deck?
Sorry for the confusion there. You shuffle the headline deck and then deal 13 of them. They make up your headline deck. Thanks for watching!
Rolling Solo thanks for the clarification here and speedy response!
Not a problem Samuel! :)
