If I'm not mistaken, in previous videos Matt's made the comment that "all of my boys are good drivers". I think he added that they're good because he started teaching them when they were little but I could be wrong about that part. Eitherway, no one gets that kind of confidence and ability by just watching.

Considering how stock the Bronco is (a few suspension upgrades and other minor bolt ons) and how utterly custom the Banana is (nothing Cherokee left under it) - I'd say the Bronco did an amazing job - it made it through every challenge, it basically dominated the sand chute, and it was right with the Banana on the rocks and the slow drag...

Great job guys! I am impressed with the way the Bronco handled the rocks. Solid axle is best for rocks, as you guys demonstrated, but for 99% of us the Bronco would be great because it does better on road and high speed off road. Hats off to Rhett for recognizing his dad's "suggestion" for a spotter meant you really need one for the line he had chosen. Matt was calm and Rhett was accepting of the "suggestion". A camera is a plus. Experience is a plus. Rhett had neither compared to his competition but the Banana and Rhett's confidence in it made up the differences.

What's even more amazing is that the Bronco came really capable from the factory already. The changes made were made to make it better at the kinds of obstacles it encounters in Hurricane.
But it was already pretty good from the factory and that's really a unicorn when it comes to factory cars.
The Banana is custom built EXACTLY for these kinds of obstacles and there's nothing factory about it as far as the suspension, drive line and everything that matters for its progression on a trail goes. A factory XJ vs a factory Bronco would see the Bronco win everything every time.
And that's what's scaring Matt the most, not that Hefe is going to make the Bronco compete with the Banana, but the fact with only a hand few modifications the Bronco is already where it's at and there's still plenty of room for improvement.
What scares Matt is that he might have to make his next recovery vehicle based off a Bronco.

    • @bigredc222

I agree with everything you wrote.
The main difference is the cost, you need to be making a good living to afford a Bronco, but most anyone with mechanical skills can build a banana little by little.
There also aren't many people that are going to spend 70 grand on a vehicle and then take it rock crawling.

Props to Rhett…driving his dad’s jeep while he watches through all those obstacles was probably some of the most stressful moments of his life. 😂
That bronco is definitely impressive, I can’t help but wonder how many folks watching these videos will now go check out getting a bronco instead.
Looking forward to seeing what upgrades are done and how much they improve.

I am just amazed that Jefe puts his shiny new Bronco through these torture tests... 🙂 shows real confidence in the car and his own skill set... Rhett has become soooo much more than just the kid... he has become a great welder and in this video he really shows his incredible driving skills too... 🙂

Portal axles on the Bronco for big ground clearance?
I don’t usually give Max as much intelligence credit as Peanut, but sitting in Matt’s shadow was a pro move.

If the bronco has an advantage of a front camera, then all your rigs should have live cockpit video on both axles. Seems like a very doable upgrade.
