So nice to see sportsmanship from Earl, clapping good shots from Efren.
Both are amazing players. Incredible to watch these two legends of the game going head to head.
He only respects Efren
This is when earl didn’t have money 💵 problems
Lsszzzzzzzzzzzz@@arjef2402
I was thrilled and excited watching this match.
That shot on the 8-ball with the match tied 7-7 is legend material. To do that under that pressure is what separates legendary players from the great players. And Reyes did that so often in his career. The straight back draw shot on the 6-ball in the last game, to carom into the 7-ball, was just as legendary.
Efren, "I play good too" Understatement of the century.
...About the only weakness for Efren(compared to his other skills) was not having an elite level break.
...Where all other skills can rate 9 or 10 on a scale from 1 to 10 for Reyes. I would rate his break a 7 overall. Though this match, he was breaking quite nicely.
I was intrigued by Earl applauding when Efren made good shots or won a game. That is SPORTSMANSHIP on Earl's part. Both players are true champions!
Same here. Very classy!
I think a friendship has developed between them over the years.
Only Earl is not like that to other pros who beat him?
Earl clapped for (at the time the weaker opponent) he didn't think he was going to lose. The entire game (billiards) is built on confidence. Idc what anyone says... this is one of those changing of guard moments ❤ still gives me goosebumps
@@mikecobb2409 at that time,, if anyone
could find out their match-up wins/loses
would be nice. Efren has been dubbed, the
Magician* and perhaps Worlds' Best at that time, Strickland the "brat" witnessed both first hand. The GOAT actively plays, to this day, may have lost some, not much
Both are great players, it came down to who made more mistakes. Earl was about to put himself in a winning position when he rushed a makable shot and the game's turning point. The fact that Efren had a commanding lead and Earl caught and took the lead from Efren was just amazing to watch. The game of pool has come a long way since Willie Mosconi and Minnesota Fats. The fans won when you get to watch a legend and the GOAT.
Brilliant comment mate, exactly my thoughts .
Wow looks how young they both were! 1 legend and 1 GOAT
Yes, Earl 29, and Efren 33. Wow!
I love how Earl always appreciates a good shot and will always applaud it, even if that shot could possibly be the end of the match.
Classy guy
@@ovedfranco7664 lol, that's so funny.
It's called 'patronizing'
I’ve watched this 100 times, and I’ll watch it 100 more.
8 ball left corner pocket from the middle shot from the other side of the table. As a 20 year player I can say to make that slice just enough to pocket it is extremely difficult. That's why Efrin Reyes is the goat on the table. Wish they would make a movie about him of how he slept on pool tables in his early years and played players much older than him only to beat the best players while he was in grade school.
"Wish they would make a movie"
Sounds like a great idea. They'd have to jazz it up a lot if it was a dramatic movie, so I'd rather see a documentary.
appreciate how much sportsmanship these two shown
happy that even now they're still competitive and performing great
Just the way efren floats the cue ball around. It's a thing of beauty
Same with Strickland. Watching these two play at their prime is a real treat.
Efren looks like he's 20 years old. Great match. Excellent commentary.
Look, I've been playing pool for over 40 years. I played professionally in my late 20's and 30's. I wasn't a world beater, you won't find me in any magazines, but I was a serious player. Serious enough to have been blessed to have been able to play against Strickland and Reyes. Reyes I actually met twice. For the record, it was like I was a rack boy. In races to 11, I got 3 games on Earl and 3 on Efren. I personally think they gave them to me to see where I was at. Anyway, I know how great Efren is. I too agree that he is probably the greatest we'll ever see in our lifetime, he's the GOAT for sure. With that said, if my life depended on a single shot, I want Earl, in his prime, taking that shot. He's way more clutch than anybody ever has been. Watch the Hong Kong match race to 120. Earl lost that because of his inability to control his anger. He took a HUGE lead on the second day because he was focused and was shooting the lights out. Day 3 he was visibly irritated and he let that get to him. Had he been as focused as he was on day 2 Efren wouldn't have been even close. In the end, Efren came back and won 120-117. I'm sorry, but in a race to 120, that score is pretty much equal.
There's no way of putting one clearly ahead of the other. It's not only about tournament wins. But if you want to compare them on the basis of unbelievable shots, Efren comes out ahead.
I played Efren in 2017; he is still a very, very great player!!!!! AND he still plays with a NO NAME cue!!!!!!!!
Reality plays a judge cue
He can beat us with a broom 😂😂😂
Efren Reyes is the best kick shot maker I ever seen and if I was playing him I wouldn't try to snooker him
@@jamesbaker6834 AMEN
@@jamesbaker6834 Efren plays and think
with his "mind's eye" where he can do magic... then does it.
Dang, at the level THESE guys are playing, the entire 9 game match can be lost by just a SINGLE missed shot. Props to these guys.
True. History books show Earl Strickland is better than Efren off sheer accolades and achievements. Earl and SVB are the only humans on earth to win the US Open 5 times each, and SVB the only living human to win it 3 times in a row. Efren has no exclusive achievements: all he has achieved has been done by others before he did it.
@@godjhaka7376so who of them both got the G.O.A.T. title? Earl or SVB?
@@godjhaka7376 Efren has no exclusive achievements? Now tell me who has the most major titles in 3 different disciplines (1-pocket, 8-ball, 9-ball). You could argue that there are better 9-ball player than Efren but the over-all sheer dominance on all discipline is what make him best among the rest.
The winner gets it all.perfectly said.action does the talking ...not words..action speaks louder than words.
Mis respetos Señor #efrenbatareyes es usted un jugador de pool muy aplicado lo admiro muchísimo me gustaría poder verlo jugar algún día...que le vaya bien en todo ...un abrazo desde tierra guaraní...#paraguay
Earl clap for him before anyone does in game 8 is truly a respect
Earl was the first to clap when Efren made that crazy cut on the 8
Ive always thought Earl Strickland and Efferent Reyes were very close to each other's ability. Sometimes things happen.
Earl was probably slightly better at 9 ball, but Reyes was better at every other game.
Efren look like a telenovela actor during his heyday lol 😅😅
I’m about to wreck 9ball on my 8 ball pool app on the phone after watching this. Just the motivation I needed.
That is one of the fastest felts I've seen. The ball just keeps rolling.
That old simonis 760 cloth
@@tyarnold4088 ohh OK, I'm not super familiar with the numerical variations in the Simonis cloths. That stuff must bite like crazy and require an exceptionally skilled touch to play well on. Even Effren was overshooting his leaves. That stuff is like silk covered glass.
@@peaknuckle6942 yeah it's mostly nylon. It was what they used at Western Illinois University when I was growing up. So I was used to playing on it. But people would call it slick cloth. Or complain about how it played, often. That was back in the 90s. Now everyone uses Simonis 860 cloth. It is a blended cloth and it plays fast, but slower than the 760 cloth.
@@tyarnold4088 thanks for the reply and the good info. Now that you mention it, I think I've possibly played on it at the MSU Bozeman university campus tables back in the 90s also. But at the time I didnt know there were intentionally different cloths choices. I just knew the bar tables in town played much different but didn't really know why. I remember burning my knuckles on the campus tables and being able to draw the ball like magic on them. 😂
@@peaknuckle6942 yeah I don't know about that area. But I played at several state schools in Illinois back in the 90s and they all used that 760 cloth.
Efren, the magician. It's all.
Legends 🙏 I love it thx
Glad you liked it. LIKE the video and ofcourse SUBSCRIBE! 👌
Efren Reyes is the GOAT.
They are both very good. This is great to watch. Thank you.
Thx to that content, its nice to see the old games of legends in pool and billiards
Guys! did you noticed or it's just me! At first glance of this video, i thought it was Dr. Jose Rizal i'm seeing!?!?
Yeah I had the same thought.
Oo nga kahawig ni Gat. Jose Rizal si Efren
Same here. Kamukha niya si Rizal noong kabataan pa niya. 😅
PWEDE
Ebe Dancel din😊
Why do I like to watch Reyes play so much?
He is fun to watch, you can see he loves to play the game, unlike today's players -no emotion 😄
Reyes is a real genius..👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Efren Reyes....the best!
Its seize the moment.. I love to watching it.. Thanks for this video.. 😀👍🏼🙏🏼

I like the way you narrate these videos. This is a great channel
This pool-fight was perfectly covered by my favourite moderator - Salamat po!
Matagal na talagang magkalaro ang dalawang to. Kudos to earl also for always reaching the finals to face efren.
maganda lagi laban nila dalawa... earl vs efren is always a classic game
Bago pumasok Yung manipis na tira SA otso pumalakpak na si earl.
Efren Bata Reyes the Best and a Legend.
Not in 9 ball.
@@shotgunkawaii116 and earl doesn't pick and eat his burgers

Bad habit, especially in front of everybody! 👎😩😢🤮😱
Yes EFERN IS THE BEST BOORGER EATING POOL CHAMPION THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN, I must agree !!!🙊 🙈
thank you for uploading this video. I love it❤❤😊 Efren Reyes was young a legendary PLAYER ❤❤
I starting to love ❤ watching this channel 😊
Wow, both legendary players in their prime, wish they never get old so they can keep entertaining us
Did the "Famous Z" shot for the "first time" reversed. It was amazing, just as Efren
looked the table over, did exactly the same, and proclaimed "Z shot"... aimed, w/a
right English/spin, focus then shoot, the rest was history, opponent was astonished,
as Efren re-acted, so was the "shooter" and continued to run the table...
Never happened.

i love the players. i don’t want any commentary…. just let them play and stop the b.s. comments
Awesome!...Efren is playing on automatic 👍🎱
Outstanding match by both men. Respect.
Efren is the GOAT!
What is your criteria in determining the GOAT?
That early scratch from Earl was pretty devastating. He didn’t need to miss that!
Thanks y’all and sweet memories thanks for.
THESE 2 ARE MY FAVORITE PLAYERS TO WATCH.
Wow this guys have been at it for this long!!! Amazing
are you using Topaz to upscale the pixels of the old videos?
Earl was a 3 time world 9 ball champion and 5 time US world champion. Eight total. Efren won each once for a total of two. Earl could break and was the more consistent of the two in his prime. Reyes a better shot maker and defensive player and better at other games. But 8 total tell you all you need to know
Earl is his home turf and does not have the disadvantage of jet lag or needing to adjust his sleeping time. When both of them travel, Efren wins like Color of Money in Hong Kong
No way was Efren better than Earl in shot making ability, which was Earl's strong point, Efren had a better cue ball than Earl for sure, and was the better all around player!
@@roadrunner381 direct pocketing the ball maybe. But shot making that involves kick, rail first, carom, bank etc, Efren is the greatest at it.
Rees & Strickland are both the greatest of all time.
Great match from both
Great match. Good video.
DONT EVER PLAY WTH HIM. HES A GREAT POOL PLAYER ON EARTH. GREAT JOB, EFREN BATA REYES.

I still remember this match, I was 5 yrs old watching this in our black and white TV :)
Bro, love the commentary. Nice improvement on your voice.
Efren Bata Reyas 😮❤😊
Efren and Strickland was for me the best Poolplayers ever. From the Person i like Efren more than Strikland. Strikland was many times angry or loud. Efren was a Gentleman.
Is it just me or does the table look like it runs very smooth. Cue ball just keeps moving past where I'm expecting it to land
It seems Strickland got lucky since Efren had some small mishaps that left Strickland with easy shots. But Efren still beat the sh** out of Strickland that lost.
Reyes so cute 🤣🤣🤣
Great job with the video!! I despise Strickland and his bad manners and temper and always have. Efren in a puppy video, WONDERFUL!!
His shots even AI can't beat it
Everytime I see his ball placement and amazing skill reminds me of my grandfather. He would clear 3 racks then by some miracle miss and its finally my turn lol
Absolutely amazing
Love this man
Yes! Ang gwapo ni kuya Efren.
Great finishing in the last racks
Strickland is a gentle man
Two legends

Let’s not be mistaken… Earl The Pearl is literally one of the GOATS
At the championship level demonstrated here, ANYTHING can happen, and often DOES!
Hope your Christmas was good
Even Earl clapped that 8 ball
Not only that, he was the first to start applauding. I'm not much of a Strickland fan (as a person, he's obviously a great player), but that was nice to see.
Reyes is a master and surely the best of all time✌️
Those tables & big pockets make it so easy 2 play pool on, u have about 10 millimeters 2 spare on each side of of the pocket as the ball goes in, try playing it on a British pool table
Top 5 greatest pool players of all time;
01. Efren reyes
02. Earl strickland
03. Nick varner
04. Johnny archer
05. Shane vanboening
No mosconi or harold worst? Can't overlook the pioneers
