    I had a 3rd gen Accord LXi (a 1986). It was the best car I have ever owned...and I have owned quite a few! Great video!

    My 87' hatchback is still surviving with 215k miles on her , and i plan to keep her stock as well as restore over time to be as nice as yours

    Very nice car. My aunt had one back in the day. Hers was an automatic 1986. She can drive stick but doesn't like it, I much prefer the standard cars myself. She had that car for about 10 years until the head gasket blew and then she got a 1996 civic hatchback coupe.

      Not too bad I guess. The 96 was probably bigger than the Accord.

    I bought a 1987 4 door 5 speed LXI new. Dx was base, then LX, then top of the line LXI. Only the LXI was fuel injected.

    Tips for owning an old Japanese car like this:
    -Either secure an Agreed Value Policy insurance policy on it or liability with over 10k set aside in the event of an accident so you can fix it out of pocket. Classic car insurance is IMPOSSIBLE to get on these cars thanks to gatekeeping.
    -Do not street park it/leave it unattended out in public ANYWHERE due to it being a theft target/hit & run target. If you have to, GPS tracker + killswitch install ASAP. Garage it religiously and box the garage in when it's not being driven. These old Hondas attract lots of reprobates/lowlives so these measures are necessary.

      Thanks! Great advice. I’ll do this

      @@derekdoeschannel No problem. To be fair, these measures are necessary for anything pre OBDII/old enough to be considered a classic/antique, not just old Hondas/other Japanese stuff.

    LX and DX models had slick tops. Only the EX and EX-L trim levels were equipped with sunroofs. I drive a 2005 Honda CR-V EX which is also a 5 speed manual. I absolutely love that car! My bumpers were also sun faded when I got the car this past summer and I used Meguiers back to black and that stuff worked pretty well. Another thing that works really good is LiquiMoly plastic restoration/cleaner.

      Thanks, I tried a few products and nothing worked on the front bumper. Other parts it did. They used a different plastic back then on the front bumper.

    I bought an 89 LX sedan, 5-speed and the same coloring. I love it, and wish I could find an LX-i hatchback like this!

    This is the exact year color make and model (however mine was an AT) that was my high school graduation gift. Drove this car much harder than it ever deserved and yes, I was "one of those kids" as a 90s ricer-enthusiast that tried to do as much as I could to make it like the SCCA/DTM cars I was dreaming of. Owned Delores from 96-2001. Sadly I wish I still had this car. So many fond memories.

      What a great gift! And it sounds like you had a lot of fun in your car and isn't that what's all about? If you really want you should watch your local sale sites and find another one! thanks for watching.

    Purchased a blue 87 LX-i Hatchback in December 86. Put 280000 miles on it and it drove the same from day 1 until I got rid of it due to the AC going out. Loved that car. I wish my 2018 Accord had the comfort, quiet, and ride quality as it did. P.S. The shelf in the hatch is fully removal.

      Awesome! I have been driving it a bit and really, really love it. I just need to find the rear louver for it and I'm set! Maybe look for another one someday to bring back the memories?

    So nice! Im looking for a hatchback, too. Would love a white 5-spd.
    I just watch a video on a 5th Gen Prelude where ge fixed the black peeling trim with vinyl. He showed how to take the peelimg rubber off with a heat gun. You should check it out.
    Detachable faceplates werent 80's. They came out in the mid-90's. Your Apline looks to be from the late 00's.

      I think you're right on the Alpine. I know the owner added it as I have the paperwork for it but I'd have to go through it see the date. Keep searching as I know these are hard to find but they are out there. I've seen a few for sale but not in white. Thanks!

    I may actually be able to help you track down one of those front marker lights. Let me know if you're interested! They did make louvers for these hatchbacks as a matter of fact. I believe that they are still available for purchase as well.

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  2 месяца назад

      I was able to mend my side marker actually. But the Louver is a tough find. They make a plastic on now, but I want the original metal one.

      They made the 3rd Gen Accord from 1986-1989. The 89 had an SE that was the best of them all as it came with 14" wheels and bigger brakes.

    Take the trim off and find a business that does Anodizing

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  2 месяца назад

      I looked into that, but this trim is notorious to bend when it's taken off and you can't buy replacements.
