на производстве соблюдается такая стерильность что рабочие могут ходить босиком
не понимаю как, кругом остатки железных осколков или у них пятки грубые и как панцирь.Тут в обувь маленькая щебенка залезет и то больно. может мы стали нежными

Да,но печь ТВЧ. И да, как ни странно но они понимают, что делают. А так на уровне 50-70-х годов, примерно так и лили на ГАЗе, МАЗе и ЗИЛе
какая разница какая печь? состав металла непонятно какой, термообработка не проводится. На зиле, газе и пр. был полный цикл изготовления деталей из заданного материала с заданной твердостью. Никто в 50-70е так на коленке ничего там не делал. @@slepnoga

These lads are an absolute joy to watch. The most high tech gear is the controller for the furnace. Love and full respect for each of these lads. I'm in awe of each and everyone of them. From all the way down here in Australia❣🇦🇺🙋♂️🇦🇺

I have been working for 13 years at a very large metallurgical plant, which produces a huge number of different components for various equipment. I started out loading forges, then I was a foundry worker, and now I specialize in processing parts for coal mine equipment. Colleagues periodically complain that our technologies are outdated, our digitally controlled machines are not the most advanced. It’s not like abroad, there it is, it’s high-tech, everything is modern there. I will definitely show them this video, let them know that to this day people use technologies from the early twentieth century in metallurgy. I'll see what they say to this.
I have not seen a single measurement taken. But now I'm not that surprised why thousands years ago people were able to produce artefacts we are surprised with nowadays. Low-tech rules! :)

I once worked for a week in a zinc smelter where we poured pure zinc ingots of up to one tonne. In one shift from 6 am to 2 pm with a half hour break, 5 days a week. When I see the video here and my work, there is no comparison. Occupational safety alone is very important to us. The people in the video don't have anything except gloves. We already had to wear work shoes on the site, work trousers and a work shirt. In addition, as a foundry team, we wore a helmet with a visor, then a large apron and a thick leather apron over it. Then we had to wear hearing protection and special oven gloves. We used overhead cranes and forklifts to transport the ingots. The ingots were shaped so that they could be stacked on top of each other with a forklift.
This is BS not at least giving these guys steel toecaps, eye protection and boiler suits - it could literally save a career. I saw about $7000 dollars of crackshafts on one bench. and you can't afford $20 of PPE. Heinous.
@@jamesjross i am from Pakistan i once had labour wook at my house and i gave them safety masks because there is too much dust this was before crona and they never wear it they don't warre gloves because they do not work fast with gloves they say these are slippery or something. govt don't care about poor people so they get exploited

@@ivangovnov7700 ну за тойоту скажу так есть две тойоты до 2000 года и после, то что до 2000 сломать может только животное-водитель повозки, самый обычный hilux surf kzn130 вызывает изумление, не ужели даже его мы скопировать не в состоянии...
На самом деле всё не так уж плохо. Если не брать в расчёт технику безопасности то нужно всего лишь 3 вещи что бы это колено было более менее полноценным. 1) При литье нужно всё таки сначала сделать хотя бы спектральный анализ что бы хоть примерно понимать какой суп получился. По стружке видно что это чугун, я не металлург но по моему углерода слишком много в составе, лишняя хрупкость ни к чему. 2) Шейки под вкладыши нужно научиться подкаливать. Печь же есть индукционная, значит с электричеством всё в порядке, можно использовать индукцию, а можно и трением. 3) Балансировать как не крутись всё равно надо, и желательно не абы как.
Под подобным видосом тож поднимался вопрос сталь или чугун. И вроде как в совке делали чугун. Более того и твердости на шейках было не много. И работало. Всё же работает масляная пленка, остальное только в моменты пуска.
@@shmuh322 чугун это хорошо, но если в нём слишком много углерода то он будет очень хрупкий, такое колено дорого не проработает. По поводу закалки поверхностей трения да, и раньше и сейчас бывают и сырые и закалённые. Последние при экстремальных нагрузках ведут себя много лучше.

@@cegp9942 посмотрите внимательно на стружку. Углерод там точно есть, на вид вроде как даже больше чем надо. А то что не подкалены шейки ну так и что? Даже Тойота (смотрите kpower) такое себе иногда позволяет. Меня вот больше напрягает тот факт что у них балансировочного станка нет.

Also, the forging process imparts certain favorable properties, chiefly relating to grain flow - which translates to a part that’s better able to endure shock loading and vibration. These are issues in heavy duty crankshafts.

It is similar to slavery. the workers run around bare feet and use them as tampers to pack material in moulds and that white dust could be a killer. I like the safety sandals. Makes me wonder how many serious accidents happen to these guys. Amazing skills, however. You would expect this kind of production to be done in a million dollar factory, with all kinds of high tech equipment. This is a reality check.

the performance of forged crankshaft is more stable than that of cast crankshaft, that means cast crankshaft breaks faster
True but most OEM shafts are cast steel.
For a 20 hp farm tractor engine, you could make those cranks from wood and they'd last forever.

A top fuel dragster with 12,000 hp at 8000 rpm with a 70 lb crankshaft has mechanical stresses that are 45.2 greater than an engine producing 64 hp at 2800 rpm with a 52 lb crankshaft. The dragster's crankshaft is made of EN30B with a yield strength of 135,000 psi. It probably needs all of that strength. By comparison, the tractor would need 2,990 psi yield strength in its crankshaft. Of course, you would not use wood in a crankshaft, but its strength is 3,000 to 6,000 psi. Cast iron is 18,000 psi. Mild steel (A36) is 36,000. Good engineering and production is not making a perfect product; it is making a product that is good enough.
WOW foundry without boots. Old machine tools and the guys are turning out complete crank shafts like that. That's hard work

On the other hand Cummins failed miserably to make a simple cast iron block 20-25 years ago. (Cummins 53 block)

i seen one at Pontiac Motors years ago that had 18" diameter electrodes. They say the whole place growled when the juice started flowing.

Ничего не развалится. Главное шейки закалить. Ясное дело, чугунный коленвал не пойдёт на авиационный двигатель, или формулу 1. А в исправном "обычном" моторе нет таких нагрузок, которые были бы опасны для чугунины.
Это не отменяет того факта, что эти ребята производят по сути хлам.
Просто я к тому, что чугун в коленвалах вполне себе используется.
Дык в каком нибудь "чих-пыхе" это и используется, типа проверенного десятилетиями дизеля лошадей на 50-т и объемом в пару-тройку литров и номинальными оборотами 1500 :)

Answers the question about why crankshaft repair is such a booming business there. Full marks to these workers though as to what they achieve with the conditions they have to work in. (handling molten steel - well some sort of Fe based alloy in sandals or even bare feet O_o)
Wearing sandals is the safest way to do it. Even in EU these guys wears sandals during this type of job. Why? Because if molten iron drop on your shoe, it's almost impossible to remove your leg from the shoe when it cools a bit, and it's still hot as hell, burning you feet. And it will go thru any materal you can possibly make shoes like thru butter (and then thru flesh of your feet). So wearing sandals ensures the fastest possible way to help when accident happen. Think man, it's not hurting.

The dirt floor saves the crankshafts from damage when they throw them around, so it's got that going for it.

they just copied a Perkins crankshaft. at 55:36 you can see they’re sold as Kiran parts.

I know everyone seems to ridicule this process but you try producing 20 crankshafts a day in nothing more than a shed. The process works!
They produce Picasso -style Venus-statues. I would be glad to put such a thing in my garden. Whether this is a working crankshaft or not is another story.

I'm not celebrating this... these dudes do this With NO protection. I saw $7K of crankshafts on one bench... and you could give this guy eye protection, a boiler suit and steel toe boots for under $20. Its bs. How many guys had there career ended by this?

I was a foundryman for years, damn hot hard work and technical if you have to make a loose pattern mold of something and also knowing about temperatures of metal and how to pour it best
37 years as a mechanic, every time I worked on a Massey Fergusson tractor, the parts man insisted on knowing if it was an India tractor or a U.K. tractor, the parts were quite similar, but not all were interchangeable. The tractor has been made in India for some time, don't know if this is an official supplier or just replacement parts, but both tractors have a good service record. One company I worked for had one U.K. tractor and one India tractor and they both did a lot of work. Many hours, different operators, hard usage and one didn't break down any more than the others. Most of the maintenance had to do with pressure relief valve replacement, and replacing drive collars that had sheared due to overload. It is quite likely that Mahindra is a variant of "we build Massey, we copy Massey" type technology.

Great job of making a useful product in a way that was made in our country years ago. I see that all workers seem to be proud of their work and they should be . A++++++ vides show more enjoy watching people enjoying and proud of their job.
Yeah I don't understand the hate, do they think that Detroit was always using CNC and automation? This is how you make engine components, by hand, with machine tools. They're still using sand molds for casting iron, they're just made by robots instead of people. You're obviously going to have more room for error doing it this way but you don't need the latest methods to do the job right.

The workmanship and skill is amazing, the actual working conditions are absolutely horrid. No protective footwear, ear protection or eyewear, open belts and machinery everywhere, dirty and dusty workplace, manual lathes to mention a few.
I have only seen crankshaftproduction irl once, and it was at a visit at the Volvo truck engine factory in Sweden, it was very different. Super clean environment and of course heavily automated, obviously a lot faster production as well. Seeing this is like going back in time. I guess Swedens work and safety laws and pakistans differ a lot... 😅

Here in the UK ra lister made a single cyl engine started at 2.5 hp in the 1920s and rose to the diziing heights of 6hp by the eighties all at 650 rpm. India started to copy these engines I had a customer in Syria who started to buy them from India after a few years he came to me and asked for used crankshafts because the cranks from in India didn't last 5 minutes . These old engines produced by Listers in the UK sold by the thousands and went all over the world I have even seen 1930 models still running. Whatever happened to this country. There are many RUclips video on this engine

This isn’t india it’s Pakistan these crankshafts are being made Massey Ferguson Tractors. They do not except vendors who did not match their standards. Gujranwala near Lahore is a major manufacturing hub. These is a foundry and finishing unit. The plants are in another place. Please appreciate that these tractors are being made there for 60 years, thousands every year! So with in a zh poor country if a machine which makes these parts unemployment increases. So it’s okay

@@alxvlx9020 У меня mondeo 2.0 tdci 13-ти летний, 260к пробег, за 2 тыщи км масло как стояло на “max” так и стоит :) Насчет ВАЗа - никто не спорит что мб там движки ходят, суть во всем остальном - салон из говна и палок, эргономика и т.д. :)

Where in the process was balancing carried out? Ultrasonic defect checks? And of course the crankshafts will need to be hardened.

One of the things that surprises me is how they are constantly putting these rather heavy crankshafts on the ground, then picking them up again. It's easier or cheaper for them to have their workers use their backs to pick these heavy crankshafts up and put them down than to just buy them a few freakin' tables to set them on. These guys are going to have wrecked backs someday because someone wanted to save a few bucks on a table.
Yeah....this whole thing is pathetic. Thousands of years and they still live and work like this. It's like they're still in the stone age or something. Just CRAZY!
