- Hi guys, back again with another long video and this time we're going all the way back to OS X Mavericks which this machine rolled out with. I want to apologies about the random zooming issue my phone was having in certain parts of the video.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 Download:
allmacworld.com/mac-os-x-mave...
Mavericks terminal install command:
sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
Remember the Untitled part needs to be your USB name.

mavericks is the most beautiful macOS ever made
10000000% agreed!
you spelt Snow Leopard wrong
it matched so fucking good with iOS 6
FINALLY! After 3 hours of research of how to find a working image, I found it! now I can finally downgrade from catalina to mavericks on my slow MacBook Pro from mid 2012! Thank you so so much!!!
I’m glad the video helped you! Do subscribe for more!
@@themacintoshguide Oh yes I'll do mate!
thank you so much I've ran through the same issue as you the first time but you've sorted out.
I loved Mavericks. I’m a bit of one myself. 😊 cool video!
The last Mac OS system that had that wonderful visual. I miss those days… 😢
Fully agreed
Thanks! I now finally find a working DMG! I installed MacOS Mountain Lion onto my 2012 Macbook Pro and it wiped my Monterey install. Hopefully I can keep Mavericks and Monterey on the same system with the use of OpenCore.
It should work flawlessly, install mavericks first but I’m not sure if opencore has pre-requisites
15:15 My tip is spreading. 😁
I miss those days of Aqua & Coverflow which was the Last time Apple would use them, once Yosemite came along Aqua would be gone! Although Coverflow was still around after (for a while). it just wasn’t”t the same; not having those reflections underneath the icons anymore. I have my 2013 Mac Pro which I bought New in 2015 and still with its original 3.7GHz Quad-Core CPU, 32GB of RAM & AMD FirePro D700 Spec, !TB SSD and still working…but I can’t get the machine”s Serial from the “About This Mac”s Info Screen anymore for some reason so I have to turn the unit over to get it there now when I might need it!
I am planning on an Apple Silicon Mac purchase (say a Mac Min next year so I can keep up & keep on going with Logic, Bitwig Studio + my 3rd-party VSTs! It’s great to see from others who appreciate this machine like I do!
You should be able to see your serial number within system information app instead. In terms of the 2013 Mac Pro sadly mine is being used less and less after my 7,1 Mac Pro came into the picture. I just recently purchased a 2023 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD and with the M2 Pro chip and it purrrssss!!! Absolutely recommend it
i am running Ventura 13.3.1 on my 2013 Mac Pro and it works great.
How are you finding the fan and DRM related stuff? Wasn't sure if that was fixed by now
@@themacintoshguide I never hear the fan, but this model always runs hot. It was one of its downfalls. I’m running OpenCore and it pretty much just works! As far as DRM, I’ve not really used any applications that have it, but I do have a couple of applications that I had to pay for and they work as they are supposed to, once I put in my passcode.
With open you can run the latest os
Just bought one of these to go with my Mac Pro 2010. I probably overpaid but wanted one for years and grabbed the D700 and 64GB model. Had you autoset the date and time back from when you changed it to install the OS as you often get these sorts of errors caused by incorrect data and time? I loved Mavericks. It is funny you metion Catalina as I hate it. It was known for kernal panics and issues on anyything running a fusion drive from what I recall! I hate the new iOS like menus in ventura but I guess it is good for those new to macOS who own iOS devices.
Probably the best time to get one as the prices are incredible low for a powerful machine like this! Luckily the Mac Pro doesn’t run a Fusion Drive and for me Catalina has to be the most stable OS since Snow Leopard/Mavericks. I’d suggest joining the Mac Pro Reddit page if not already on it. I hope you love the machine!
@@themacintoshguide I found it bad even on SSD. Maybe it just didn’t like my 2012 iMac or Mac mini. Will do. Yeah I grabbed it for £724 which is much cheaper than last year (probably due to the drop of support and Mac Studio option). Will do and enjoying the content.
well you can use opencore legacy patcher to downgrade or upgrade to the mac os version of your choice by making the computer see that you are using the supported computer.
I am so sure your just create a mac os bootable usb, then it should boot to the recovery mode for that os.
hey great stuff, i have question, i want to upgrade my macbook mid 2013 from mavericks to big sur, does it run fine (should i upgrade or not)
I would say maybe stick to Catalina
I would go to sierra as it ran great on my 2012
you know chrome 110 has a port to it right? its called chrome legacy!
It does? I thought it was a old version of Chrome however?
Hello, I have a macbook air 2015 11 inch el capitan. I prepared a bootable USB from the site you downloaded from. Unfortunately, when I hold down the alt key and select the USB on the 2015 MacBook Air, I see a circle with a line inside on the gray screen. I have not been able to solve this problem for 2 days. I would be very happy if you could help me.
Your MacBook doesn’t support mavericks. The earliest OS your machine supports is Yosemite or El Capitan
For Some Reason The Download Link You Provided Didn't Work, do you happen to have an extra copy that I could snag?
I’ll have a check
@@themacintoshguide K, Thanks

@@themacintoshguide Thank You So Much!!!!!
When you screen record you should change the resolution to a 16:9 one so it’s easier to see what your doing on the mac
Cheers, I will definitely have that resolved for the next video!
I’m getting the certificate error at the beginning of the install, I then change the date to 2013 and the error disappears BUT then I get the same error right at the end of the install (before the reboot)
Is the date set back to before that OS was out for the Mac Pro? Mavericks .2 version I believe came with the Mac Pro 2013 so a date in 2014 would be sufficient
Should have installed 10.1 DP3 for fun.
I don’t think you can install 10.1 on the trashcan Mac Pro as it shipped with Mavericks
Me, A mac pro 4,1 user going from monterey to snow leopard in a few clicks:
I’d love to run snow leopard, trying to find a way to run it on VM
Yeah, my MB pro 2011 came with Snow Leopard. Amazing OS (and I still have the original disc). But I'm running a patched Catalina on that machine right now!😄
Reinstall your computer's original version of macOS (including available updates): Option-Shift-Command-R. Reinstall your current version of macOS: Command-R.
Doesn’t work if the machine shipped in later years, example being mine as it was shipped in early 2015 which means Yosemite is what its original OS.
Hi, what is the product date of this mac pro? Thx!
2015
@@themacintoshguide Really? Awesome... 2015 Mac can't be installed Mavericks I knew becuase Mavericks is on 2013...
Also, 2018 or after MAC can install Mavericks chaning date? Thanks!
@@themacintoshguide Ah, I asked what manufacture date like Late 2013, Early 2012 etc. I searched and knew this 6.1 verison is Late 2013. It can be installed Mavericks. Thanks.
the download link does not work anymore
If you go to the archive website you’ll find it there again
You not pirating Mac OS X OS , which for a Mac computer
TheMacintoshGuide, really?! First 15 minutes of video spent on what?! Shift-Option-Command-R will take you to the internet recovery of the OS that came with your Mac. In this case, with 2013 MacPro, it will give you OS X Mavericks directly from Apple.
Nope it does not, Apple don’t allow trashcan Mac Pro’s manufactured after Yosemite came out to install mavericks via internet recovery. You have to go through this method or it’ll always show you Yosemite as the only OS after internet recovery
@@themacintoshguide Sorry for delayed answer, a lot of work and it slipped out of my mind.
I have 2016 trashcan Mac Pro, so El Capitan timeline. It boots with those key combinations into Mavericks installer.
I'm here if i could help in any way, keep making good videos.
the download link is dead sadly.
I'll see if I can get another one
