Exciting video today as I have been able to use the newest version of OpenCore Legacy Patcher 0.6.6 to install MacOS Ventura 13.4, which is the latest version as of this video. I want to say a huge thank you to all the devs who worked on OCLP and allowing unsupported hardware to run latest OS's.

Absolutely fantastic thank you. Used this guide to update Late 2013 Mac Pro 6,1 3.5 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 / AMD FirePro 6GB Graphics with 64GB RAM. The OpenCore Legacy Patch had been updated to Version 1.3.0 and Sonoma OS is obviously now available so did the above swapping out the patch and OS for the latest versions. Did take time (approx 35mins) to make bootable USB but everything went as above. Did a Time Machine back up first. Mac and apps (Creative Cloud and other used for work) totally happy with no issues at all and is noticably faster even though I opted not to partition and to do an install over existing Monterey. Very happy, thanks again to everyone who contributed to the Patch and Video man!
Thank you brother for the video I highly appreciate the information. I work for the City as a sanitation truck driver/ loader when I got out my truck there was a iMac box I didn’t hesitate to take the full box and than later put it in my car. I sanitize the device. It came with a keyboard and mouse fired up the system and realize it was outdated but looking at this video really helped me update the computer to the current workable version. I will definitely donate to the source. Thanks again it took me hours but we’ll worth it.
Works like a charm on my Mac Pro late 2013 , excellent tutorial. I did a full backup with Acronis for safekeep before installing Ventura with OpenCore Legacy Patcher 0.6.8 (updated version) . I used the current ssd-drive and installed "over" my current setup. All the installed apps and settings were preserved. Thanks .
Just wondering if there are any performance issues. Do you use Final Cut Pro or logic x??
@@CC6842 I use DaVinci Resolve current version. Didn't really notice any performance difference, but eventually I reverted back to Montery.

@Tim was your Mac Pro 2013 a tower? I have a MB Pro laptop early 2013 and when i rebooted to install Ventura, I got a circle with a line through it. Trying to figure out what went wrong.

Thanks for taking the time to share, i do a lot of video editing MacPro 6,1 with D700's are the GPUs fully supported now in this version of OCLP mainly Adobe After Effects, Blender and DaVinci Resolve are my workflow would be good to understand how stable the system is on Ventura

Awesome! I installed Ventura on my MacBook Pro 2015 to test its operation. Everything works fine. Just clicking on settings tabs has a second lag. But everything else is running smoother than Monterey. I’ll try my trash can next

Could you install this on to an external drive? The scenario being I have the stock 1TB SSD installed but want to upgrade it to a 2TB drive at the same time. Or do I have to install an OS to be 2TB then go through with this process? I assume that’s probably the more sensible if time consuming route
I suggest to use the main drivr
My question is after you do all this can you update the OS normally like other macs that can accept update for example like when you go to system preferences?
Yes however you need to wait on the OCLP team to see if the new macOS update is supported/doesn’t break anything
Hi Thank you for a very informative video. I am currently on my way to upgrade my MacPro with a 2TB internal HD, at the 12th core CPU, just waithing for the screwdrivers to arrive. I wonder why you had a special partition for the Ventura system? An how large? Maybe you can give me some advice here, as I will start all over with a new internal HD. Kind reagards Bodil
I did around 500gb, I find it to be easier to do a separate partition from the OS that is naturally supported
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Can you tell me how long did the procedure take ? My Mac Pro 6.1 has been stuck on the white apple for a few hours now and I am wondering if everything is still OK ?
I would say around 30-45 mins in total and most of it was just it installing. I would suggest restarting the process
Quick question everything is running smooth so far I’m actually creating the installer on my updated mini Mac. After I’m done creating the installer do I have to press reboot on the mini Mac computer? Or do I have to just plug in the USB to the old iMac and press the power on while holding the option button?
You'll need to use OCLP on your imac and follow the instruction in the video, the USB you create on a different Mac and have it plugged in
Does the OCLP 0.66 supports hardware acceleration on the built-in D700 graphic cards (on Ventura)?

Anyway to know either by OCLP website or elsewhere what the maximum or optimum level of the operating system is for a given hardware year of MacBook Pro? For example an early 15" 2013 MacBook Pro 10, 1. Can it go past Big Sur (11.7.10) without any problems or is that pushing things?

Rats! Would you recommend just starting w the lowest OSX update, 11.7, on a mid 2010 MBPro/4GB RAM and just see what happens? Ive already done a time machine back up of it

Anyone know Xcode under Ventura , allow you to programming for older Mac models. Because metal 3 is for new macs
Should I deactivate my iCloud account before starting the installation of the new software ? Or will my Mac will just update the OS to the newer one and keep all my files?
My suggestion is to do this with a clean OS

When I reboot it just goes my logging window I held option and it still goes straight to the login page I’m using a wireless window keyboard is that the problem ? I also tried to manually do it thru terminal on the utility setting rebooted and still went to my logging window

@@themacintoshguide and apparently my USB is a cheapo , I ended up getting the wired keyboard but now the installer doesn’t show up on the open core boot menu

It's really weird why I can't do it. I tried Sonoma and now Ventura, everything is installing but in the end I do not have graphic accelerator (AMD Firepro D500 3GB) and when trying to post-install patch, it gives me an error. :(

I’ve done everything, whenever I do it, it goes to the apple logo with a progress bar but the progress bar gets stuck at the beginning of the bar. Then I turned off my Mac, entered EFI Boot again. Entered Install macOS Ventura and it then kernel panics and then goes back to the Apple logo. I also have a 2013 trash can. Not sure why this is happening. I even downgraded my OpenCore from 0.6.8 to 0.6.6 (the one ur using) Still no luck. Oh well.
Nevermind, after spending some time troubleshooting I got it to work. (I think.) I put my USB drive in a different port and that seemed to have fix it. So far I’m on the screen that says how many minutes are remaining. I’ll let you know if I get it to fully work.

I made this mistake before, you need to install the oclp patch to drive instead of usb

Yes you can, I’ll also be uploading a Sonoma guide as I’ll be installing it over my monterey version

Because they want you to buy M2. Which doesn’t support SSD upgrades (or replacements when it hits TBW limit). Or RAM upgrades. Or CPU swaps. They want to lock you into their ecosystem of upgrading every couple years due to the artificial limitations they cause.
