Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.

Was hoping you would like. Now I know I can do more. Faroe Islands are between Norway and Iceland. They are part of Denmark, but they function independent. I found her maybe a year ago and I too look frequently for tour dates. Unfortunately, it appears she doesn't come to the US too often. Lex, you were right, the sound engineer did a great job here. And if you noticed the crowd, they were quiet the whole time and without phones. I gave you the wrong year, this was 2017. She wrote the song in 2012 as part of a play. Hope everyone enjoys.
Thanks for the introduction that was great.
It's even better in the room because you can feel it. Eivor is the greatest vocalist I have ever seen personally.
I love the dynamic building of the song. There only 3 people on that stage!
Eivor is not only a spectacular singer, but a fantastic songwriter. Absolutely love her!
I had the absolute privilege of seeing Eivor in a church in London called Union Chapel. Possibly one of the best gigs of my life. You have to watch her perform “Trollabundin” in her native tongue with just a drum… just magical!!
I saw her in a church, too in Cologne! It was epic! Will see her this year again, I'm beyond excited 😍
Yes. She is clearly a touring angel in disguise, doing musical clerical work for the soul.
Eivor is one of a kind! You ain't seen nothing yet! Keep going with more Eivor pliz!
Be safe
Eivør is one of the very best female vocalists on the planet today. She has been dubbed the ‘Nordic Kate Bush’ and she cites Kate as one of her main influences. She actually did an amazingly good cover of Kate’s ‘Hounds of Love’ earlier in her career. There are many beautiful songs from her sung in either Faroese or English but it would be great to see you react to her singing the theme from ‘The Last Kingdom’ at London’s Hammersmith Apollo theatre last year. It is more primal/tribal in its vocalisations but also beautiful in its own way. ruclips.net/video/WT65X0eBTEA/видео.htmlsi=PF9-t1YkiKXq8RDC
Oh my word! First time I've ever heard (of) this artist. Just phenomenal. I see that she has a few dates in the UK this year, I'm just off to book tickets for The Royal Albert Hall in May!
Yay!!! So glad we could introduce you! Thanks for watching! :)
Oh😢oh😢😢oh I love it....the way Eivor hits and delivered her notes is uncanny! 😢😢😢 I am a mess...the build of the song makes me cry. I love Eivor. She make me cry when she sing. They just do. Great reactions!!!😊😊😊😊
Aside from being one of the greatest singers ever, her guitar playing is really good also.
Eivør is fantastic. I first heard her on the soundtrack of the last kingdom tv show and she was incredible.
Eivor sings on the soundtrack “The Last Kingdom” and on the “God of War” 2016 video game. I hope y’all check out her other songs, they are closer to a more Nordic folk sound with some pop elements here and there, they really capture her home town of Syðrugøta which is on the island of Faroese. I mention this because that area is BEAUTIFUL!
Yes, many Kate-like moments. I'm a Kate fan and this brought tears to my own eyes.
I get a bit of a 'Ride' vibe from the band.
Hi Guys! Thank you for beautiful EIVOR! Her new album coming out soon. The US Tour you missecd - 1 year ago, hopefully she will do it again after new album release. I would risking become annoying but I will again use the chance to brag about my chance when I met EIVOR, she is very nice, smiling person with a tricky sense of humour! :D
I had the pleasure of seeing her live in Bristol, England a few years ago. Incredible voice and talent
I´ve seen/heard Eivør a few times, twice in small settings like this, and once with The Danish Symphony Orchestra (+ Erik Selvik). All quite magical:)
Eivør is such an amazing artist! This version is simply amazing. This entire concert is formidable!
His latest 2 albums are simply amazing: Slør and Segl! The first album I listened by her is Room, which have some other amazing songs: Rain, Far Away, Green Garden, True Love (there is a live version in Reykjavik where she gives a masterclass is voice projection).
One other nordic band I'd suggest is Kalandra. The song Enson is amazing!
She is just the best❤
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. I first googled Eivor because of The Last Kingdom theme song, she’s just captivating, live and video. Have a look at the video for True Love, she is one of a kind.
I couldnt click fast enough when I saw you were doing Eivor -- She has been my favorite singer since I first heard her do True Love in a video for a short film some years back and I dove headfirst into her impressive catalog of work -- She has sooo many amazing songs worth checking out ---- She is a Viking Goddess -- I love Gullspunnen (Spun in Gold) that she sings in Faeroese and she has a version of a cover she does of Leonard Cohen song Famous Blue Raincoat that I literally cant get out of my head -- I hope you check out more from her impressive works
DANKE!
What an experience. I will spread the word around.
She's touring in Europe later this year; I'm going to see her in Bristol. This live recording is available and sounds amazing. She is top-notch!
It's actually Eivør - you gyus just entered a new universe - enjoy
Eivor has so much great stuff to check out if you are just discovering her. Lately, I've been watching her performances with Einar Selvik of Wardruna with the Danish Symphony Orchestra, powerful stuff.
Wow, Dave! I'm curious how you came to know of this singer/band! She is stupendous! Thank you for requesting this song!
Nick and Lex, I agree with all of your comments, especially how she reminds you of Kate Bush.
A standout of this performance for me was her nailing that high D!!! In my prime, which was decades ago, I could hit a C, but sustaining it was almost impossible for me. And she was a full step higher!
Thanks for a great introduction, all!
🎵❤️🎵 Debbie
Don't remember how i found her. The singer that you are you may also enjoy reactions by singer/voice coaches Julia Nilon and Nina Schofield. They break the song down a little and if I remember right talk about that sustained D note at the end and the B flat right before.
She is full talent.I'm a big fan.I attended the concert in Bristol it was excellent.Eivør Pálsdóttir, known mononymously as Eivør, is a Faroese singer-songwriter.
Hi, Glad you enjoyed Eivor. I do like her music a lot and along with Agnes Obel is probably my favourite "Nordic" performer. Yes, the similarities to Kate Bush are evident immediately, but I tend to see her in the same way as other females who were heavily influenced by her but then went on to do their own thing and all also could be said to share some of her traits - artists like Sinead O'Connor, Bjork, Alanis Morisette, Alison Goldfrapp etc who were all influenced by KB in their early years but went on to make music that was distinctly their own.
What I have always found unusual about this particular song by Eivor is that although she has never hidden her admiration for Kate Bush and has even done one of the very best covers of her music (her version of 'Hounds of Love'), Eivor's age has always seemed to me to make the 'Hounds of Love' and onwards eras of KB music to be far more relevant and contemporary for her. However this particular song is so very reminiscent of Kate Bush's much earlier work. In terms of melody and vocal it sounds VERY similar to my ears to 'Oh England My Lionheart,' or 'In Search of peter Pan' from her 1979 album 'Lionheart' or the the beautiful but disturbing 'The Infant Kiss' from 'Never For Ever' (1980). The very distinct similarity between those songs and Eivor's 'Falling Free' has always seemed to me to almost be out of time or out of step for someone of her age, unless she made a point of diving into her music and found a soul mate in Kate's earlier more 'romantic' music. And that of course would mean that she found a connection with Kate's earlier, younger, higher voice (I love that earlier Kate Bush music too).
So, I have always found oddities in Eivor's music and her music choices, choices that often seem to be something of a throwback to an older strain of music than she really ought to be part of given her age. But then there have always been oddities about Kate Bush's music, all the way from 'Wuthering Heights' through to 'Misty.' And I do like oddities in music.
So, yes - more Eivor, and more Kate - always a good thing.
Thanks again.
Yes, she totally reminds me of Kate Bush in this song! She also sometomes reminds me of Aurora. Amazing voice and artist!
Dave!! Thank you sir! This was beautiful. What an artist/singer. Something special. Wish i was there live to see this!!
Lets meet in Hamburg in JUNE for Eivor concert at the Markthalle
Outfrickinstanding! Thanks for sharing this little-known gem...
That’s a homer Dave, knocked it out of the park. Thanks for the introduction that was splendid. More please. Great reaction NicknLex. Keep the dog! 😎if you want add another dog or more 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Had to check this out after Aurora, as you Lexi, suggested :). Yup, yet another voice to do a deeper dive . . . . this is wonderful!
- Nice one Dave :D
N&L . . . I know I used to say this a lot, but go checkout those playlists I sent about 2 years ago, called "Chill Out Already!", it was my version of "Chill" music with a twist (all types of music in it, including Prog bands), very "ethereal". But this, and more Aurora is going into "0.5" that I have been slowly working on. THIS was really special.
I can definitely hear the influence of Kate Bush the way she sounded in her early years. Some other vocal parts later in the song reminded me of Mari Boine, a Sami singer from Norway, and it turns out that there is an online-article, in which Eivør mentions Mari Boine's album "Goaskinviellja" as a major influence on her music. Eivør says about Mari Boine, among other things: "There was also something liberating about the way she used her voice so freely as an instrument. Sometimes she’d sound like an animal and sometimes she’d sound like a saxophone." This also confirms your impression of a nordic sound which IMO is also to be heard in Mari Boine's music. If you should ever check out Mari Boine, it should be the live version of "Goaskinviellja" from the Oslo Opera House 2009.
Thanks for bringing up Mari Boine. I know of her but not much. I know "Gula Gula" and am debating doing in April for Earth Day. Either that or The Seed by Aurora. I need to do a deeper dive into Mari.
@@Dave-hb7lx "Gula gula" was the album before "Goaskinviellja". Since Mari Boine is one of those artists who are best when performing live, I'd always recommend her live performances. For "Gula gula", I'd recommend this version from 2020 she posted on her own channel: ruclips.net/video/PNZ-tqv_JTs/видео.html The fact that it is twice as long as the studio version says a lot. The same goes for the live version of "Goaskinviellja" I mentioned in my original post. It seems it's the most viewed clip of one of her songs with 1.2 million views so far and I think it's absolutely fantastic. Mari Boine was a pioneer in what she did and was afaik the first Sami singer to also become popular outside of Norway. I saw her live for the first time in 1998 at the Leverkusener Jazztage here in Germany. I highly recommend her live album "eallin - live" from 1996 and the clip of the entire Jazz Baltica concert from 1997. The latter starts (after a joiking intro) also with "Gula Gula". Unfortunately, the song titles are first shown when the next song starts, thus all songs in this clip are labeled wrong (except for the intro). So far, there are only a handful of reactions to her songs, so it would be nice to see some more. ;)
2012?? 😳 I'd seriously believed Eivør was a brandnew artist, when I'd listened to a couple of her/their songs a few months ago! 😅
Pretty amazing stuff! 😍 Reminds me of AURORA, whom I love, too 😊
I gave them the wrong year. This is 2017. The song was written in 2012. I think Eivor has stuff on YT going back to 07. Love Aurora too. I'll be doing her in near future.
@@Dave-hb7lx - Thank you for the correction! 2017 also is quite some time ago, though! 😅
i like aurora, too, but eivor outshines her effortlessly
Stephen at work - she does remind me a little of Kate Bush- she does have soaring powerful music-thanks Dave!!
Eiwor The last kingdom Main theme Live at Hammersmith Apollo
A Faroese Kate Bush! Mirabile Dictu!
As you know, Faroese is Germanic, and most similar to Icelandic, its closest neighbor. And she is my first taste of the lovely Faroe Islands. Scandinavia is a hotbed, ironically, of creation. Play more! Kudos!
She does a wonderful cover of Kate's "Hounds of Love". The video is cool/artistic. I'll probably be doing that in near future.
Eivor is in Australia I got tickets 🎫 and
Eivor has said that one of her main musical influences is Kate Bush. I believe she even sings a Kate Bush song, but I forget which one it is.
@@Dave-hb7lx That is the one, thanks Dave!!
Thanks for that I shall be looking for that directly after this.@@Dave-hb7lx
Hey Nick & Lex,
I'd caught your reaction to Eivor's Falling Free (live) earlier today and although I'm a true blue hard rock, metal guy and all, But I haven't heard anything that amazing since that reaction of the last track on the full Porcupine Tree's Absentia album that you had did about 2yrs ago or so and I hope that you still listen to that album or any PT lately and hopefully you both can react to more of her stuff whenever you get a chance!! Well, I had heard that you're into dystopian & horror movies and music, So, You will be getting a late Christmas gift from me within a week or so and I know that you may not play it before the holidays but you'll love it for sure!! Hope that you had read my email from 1/24/24 and hope to hear from you soon!! Sending you all love & prayers for good health and happiness!!
Thanks & Keep Rockin'!!,
Walter - 🤘❤🙏🤘
It's a bit daring to say that but in my opinion, Eivor surpasses Kate Bush. She can sings Kate Bush's songs without effort while Kate wouldn't have been able to sing like Eivor.
And she's far from her max here... ^^
If you want to be impressed, see her solo performance in Sofar (Los Angeles)
ruclips.net/video/NA5dnFUh-EU/видео.html
Look at how many instruments she is managing alone and the vocals she is able to do.
I was blown away.
Please take a dive
Eivor is so far beyond Kate Bush
If you like Eivør and you like Kate Bush (who many compares Eivør with), you could do a reaction to Hounds of Love by Eivør. I find Eivørs version better, than the original:
ruclips.net/video/cVimRZ3jScU/видео.htmlsi=aCLq9o4WPJw5dV8W
If you want something different, there's Wake Me Up / RTT version:
ruclips.net/video/av-AvDEKJnc/видео.htmlsi=RQpLkkXYYa9xem77
If you want something modern, there's Í Tokuni:
ruclips.net/video/pqnMkUcTmys/видео.htmlsi=oC7IQvbm11hNSaL1
This also has an English version, but the Faroese version is better.
Yeah, she must have grown up idolising Kate Bush....and is now virtually mimiking her. Pretty good though.
