Eivør is a Nordic spirit who walks among us. She has no equal. When she chants, that's her Nordic goddess rising up out of her human persona. No other explanation suffices.
This song and this performance is a pure diamond. I don't understand this song is not known in North America. Eivør is an amazing singer, musician and song writer.
Haha, you've just witnessed what I consider one of the greatest live performances available on RUclips!😄 Please give "Gullspunnin", another fabulous live performance by Eivor, a listen next. You'll be blown away by that one too!
And trollabundin ... the live in the mountains. Its .. magic
Greatest live performance ever in my opinion. Eivor is perfection. She is a musical genius.
Next song from Eivor should definitely be when she single handedly (litterally..) created magic while performing Trodlabundin in the outdoors consert on the mountains above the Sognefjord (Norway) 10.08.13.
^^^^THIS^^^^^
Crowd were in a trance
I was too!
And her accompanying musicians were driven to ecstasy.
Eivor is just incredible isn’t she. Every performance just blows your mind.
She’s so lovely
Eivor is enchanting. I saw her live and it was even better. If thats possible. I thought she was drawing my soul from my body. Every song she performed left me breathless. She is a gem. 💎
I have seen her play this live...it's real and even after 100's of listens since, it still brings tears and bumps...
It’s just so beautiful
Haha, I’ve listened to her for a few years now and saw her in London this year. This performance still gives me chills, literally from my ankles up to my head. First became obsessed after hearing her on The Last Kingdom, she’s just mind blowing. Love all her videos
Eivør (Or Eivor internationally) is not the band name, it is her name: Eivør Palsdottir. She is a faroese singer/songwriter. She correctly lives here in Denmark. She has a very large back catalogue of music, some in faroese, som in english. She made the score for a TV show. Her music is a rabbit hole of amazing stuff. Imagine Auroras back catalogue in 15 years for comparison. But what I love most about her is that during corona lockdown, she started doing these live streams from her home, with her husband on piano. She would sing and drink wine, take requests from the chat, only for the sake of keeping peoples spirits up. Certainly one of the things that pulled me through.
Yes I corrected myself at the end of the video. And that’s amazing can’t wait to hear more from her
She has a very impressive range. She seemed completely comfortable in everything she sang. It was a great performance.
I've been a fan of Eivor for a while now, but it was this performance that did it for me.
Chill bumps in the head are a side effect of listening to Eivor. My favourite artist/voice/sound/person. You won't find a better live act anywhere.
Another nordic angel ! Love your reaction!
Eythor Ingi drank that water...
Please react to any of his covers, She's Gone, is my favourite.
Going to California, is also amazing.
Last kindom or Trøllabundin like I suggested in Instagram before.
We have here in Nordic countries very good ground water and Norway also mountain streams. 😊 And ø is Faraoese/Norvegian/Danish version of Swedish/Finnish/German ö like e is pronounced in the word The u in burn.
Aurora+Eivor+kalandra=💥😂
❤❤❤
+ Highasakite
Yes! This is the perfect comment! 👍 🤟
Eivør ❤ she's one of the best!
thank you!!!! I too often wonder what is going on with these Nordic singers and musicians right now!! Agreed - STUNNING!!!!
Still so epic...🇸🇪
Vocal powerhouse, great songwriter, she is fantastic.
I'm going to see her in October. She is remarkable
Omg lucky!!!
Eivor has a lot of great songs with Viking history. I think you would like another live song she did for tv called "Gullspunin" I think that is spelling. She has band & Choir plus sings in her native language
So much fun watching people react to this the first time. She is wonderful isn't she. Yes, Trollabundin (the symphonic version is also a treat, and True Love!
here we go 😂
The live version of this song is better than the recording IMHO. Love your reaction! Her voice is unbelievable. So much talent in those Nordic countries. Viking ancestry maybe?
Thank YOU for EIVOR, I am obsessed with Eivor already for 3 years... (after being 80-ies and classic rock fan for... a 35 previous years? 😄)... and still she shoot up to be my No.1 now... I did have a chance to talk to her - she is a very nice and friendly, down-to-earth, a beautiful lady, with very nice, intelligent sense of humour!🖤😀 ... Definitely, have a look at the British TV show "The Last Kingdom|" - the music she did together with John Lunn, ...though, her music with her band will remain The Best😀
Wow! Her voice blows my mind! In some notes she remembers me to Kate Bush. Beautiful ❤
I was checking to see if anyone had posted the Kate Bush analogy and totally agree.
Welcome to Eivør-land! Check out more of her music - she's fantastic and a great live artist!
Superb reaction Ashlena! Farao Islands was colonized by the Norwegians from AD 800 and up to Norways union with Denmark in 1380. It is strong genetic ties with norwegians there.
I'm a huge fan of Eivor...
I am now too!
One of the greatest live performances 🫡🔥🔥🔥
She's amazing!
Yeah its Aurora's mother hahahaha 🤭🫡e
EIVOR is the name of the vocalist like Aurora she is also magical 🔥🔥
Eivør definitely gives me goosebumps all over. I can relate. 😂
She's one of my all time favourite artists and amazing live.
Eivor is amazing. I heard her firs time in 2003. She was working with a Swedish artist Anders Hagberg Who wrote the title track to a series that was on swedish television. Eivor sang on that track called "Stenristarna" It was a documentary series about the first people in scandinavia. A became a fan from the very first note. A remarkable artist Who can do almost anything with her voice. Great reaction. Cheers from Sweden.❤
Loved your reaction! That is the appropriate reaction to watching Eivør for the first time, especially when it's this specific performance. 👍🤟
Thank you for the reaction of one of my favorite vocalists. Eivor is amazing. I would suggest her performance of The Last Kingdom: Main Theme (Live at Hammersmith Apollo), as well as the video of Trodlabundin as another commenter mentioned.
I would suggest two other artists to react to that I find absolutely spellbinding.
The first is the group Heilung. Heilung is the most unusual, soul inspiring groups. I would suggest their video of Anuana (the official video). It is not only a beautiful song, but also an amazing video. Would also suggest their live performance of LIFA - In Maidjan LIVE at Castlefest, which really shows the female vocalists amazing abilities. Heilung has a huge following, I have seen them in concert, it was truly an experience.
The other performer I would suggest is a young Russian singer who many consider the best female singer in the world. She has the most amazing and unusual tambre, control, and is truly the Queen of Goosebumps. Diana Ankudinova was abandoned at a train station in Russia at the age of 3 with a broken collar bone. She was so traumatized, she could barely speak. At the orphanage, they noticed her singing to cartoons and used singing as therapy. I would suggest starting with her cover of the Elvis classic "Can't Help Falling in Love" at 18 on a Russian TV singing competition. Also Rechenka (14), cover of Wicked Games (15), and even recently her performance with an orchestra covering the songs of Hans Zimmer. Diana performance for the "Dune" soundtrack is amazingly powerful. She has a huge following, suggest you look on her RUclips page to avoid copyright issues with the videos. Best of luck, and thanks again for your reactions.
Love Aurora, ha ha, but I discovered Eivor around same period. Both amazing talents from ,Norway. Great performance.
She also does old style Nordic music.❤
Eivør is not from Norway, but they're from the same general region.
@@Tarkus_ somewhere where it's really dark in winter. 😁
Great reaction, Eivor is a phenomenon. She sings the soundtrack to the Netflix series “ The Last Kingdom.” I’m pretty sure she could invoke the Old Gods at will😃
Crazy good music 🎶 thanks
I don't think that got something to do with the water ;-) I think it's got more to do with the industry that allowes them to be who they want to be, to be CREATIVE, wish is pretty rare arounf here. When your minde is not stock in a format it can fly way and beyond, digging deeper in your routh and bring something new from it, so the voice and way of expression is not stock in the format either. I love her, and realy enjoye her more ''tribal'' sound. I read that she came to Canada to learn throat singning with native trib, she is stuning ( no boundry) Love withnessing you reaction. Have a good week-end 🙂
Eivør❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ are the best singer!
This one and her other live performance is out of this world all band is out of this world. Highly recommend her life performance in her song called wake me up absolute proof of how awesome is her band and her voice one and only.
Another great song from her is "true love" live SOFAR-session.
I saw her last year in Manchester, England and she was amazing. I'm seeing her again in 1 week in London at the Royal Albert Hall and can't wait. She is amazing live. ❤
Omg great venue! Enjoy!!!
Ha, Ashlena, I got chillbumps too. Since I heard Mari Boine, Sigrid Moldestad, Rebekka Nilsson and Aino Löwenmark from Fjarill, I am obsessed with nordic singing too. It always gives me physical reactions.
been there btw.. Torshavn ... lived there for 4 mth
This has been my favorite reaction to my most favorite and beautiful song/performance ever in time. Subscribed for sure. Knowing you loved this, please listen to her live performance of “Wake me Up”, you will love it. 🙏🏽
youre soo lucky
Glad you got around doing this reaction. Knew you`d like it. Another two breathtaking performances of hers are True love - 2012 recording and Gulspunnin from I luftini.
I'm so glad you have started your Eivor journey!! I constantly get face goosebumps on my face from listening to Eivor! Welcome and thank you
Thank you for watching!!
Thank you ! - for reacting to Aurora and now Eivør ! - now you can add Susanne Sundfør ( also amazing musican and voice like the to other ) - Undercover, Alyosha, Blomi ) - !!!Please
I would love to see Eivor and Aurora perform together, they are now my 2 favourite vocalists. They have actually both sang with Wardruna, singing Helvegen, but not together.
PS. I should have said before, that Torshavn is the capital of the Faroe Islands, which are actually 900 miles from Denmark. It's only a small town in international terms. The Faroe Islands, are actually closer to Scotland and Iceland, than Denmark, and are very remote. They're an autonomous territory of Denmark, from their Viking history. The crowd was silent and so respectful, because Eivor is quite literally their most famous daughter.
Omg that would be spectacular!
hello ashlena. please check out her 'trøllabundin' from 2013. it's so good. and you also would love the band 'heilung' (which translates into healing, that's what the band stays for).
I love Eivør, she is amazing! See Polnalyubvi - Кометы, please. kisses from Brazil. ❤

Hahaha worth it!!!!
She is from The faroe Islands, its a part of the danish kingdom, but its a country on its own with their own language :)
Greit reaction ❤Eivør is from a little island that belongs to Denmark and have a insane vocal.Hope you Will react to Liliac to.Famely of 5 siblings.Independede and makes their own videos and editing. They have many covers but also originals.Try out Last in line or Enter sandman.
Great reaction to the wonderful Eivor! For an even deeper dive into Nordic music, check out Heilung, I'm sure you'd love them! Try Anoana, official video, for a "gentle introduction" Once you're hooked, there are many different live recordings which will blow your mind.
what an incredible voice... one of a kind ... r0ck 0n ash ... twa ... \m/
Not Denmark - the Faroe Islands. Look it up on a map. We are a part of the Danish kingdom, but are situated in the middle of the Atlantic - far from Denmark.
Apologies
btw Im from Denmark ... så vi vet hvem Eivor er
@troedelgerry - if you're here, thanks.
Reccomend? "Trodlabundin" live '13.
Ciao!
It’s live on my Patreon! It’ll be up this weekend 🥰
@@ashlenamusic I still listen to her album "Slor" (2017) 1 time a week, or more 😍😍
Please listen to upp ur oskuni by Eivør!!
Faroer Islands belongs to Denmark, yes, but it is NOT Denmark. The Faroer Islands are around 1350 km / 840 miles afar from Denmark. They don't see themselves as Danish people. Their language is more related to Norway / Iceland.
Sorry I was not aware but thanks for clarifying!
I'm Faroese like Eivør and you worrying about her pronouns made me chuckle. No offense to people in the Anglosphere or wherever else that's something you worry about but worrying about pronouns is not really a thing here. Furthermore she has one of those last names that uses her father's name + "daughter" so the pronouns are pretty clear when you know the language.
Made me wonder if there are many non-binary people in Iceland and how they deal with everyone having "son" or "daughter" in their last names.
The audience being silent is because they're locals and familiar with her, they know she's gonna pull off some high notes and they want to hear it. They might also have been told that everything was being recorded and didn't want to mess up the audio.
That’s very interesting!
Next up, Sweden: Molly Sandén. ruclips.net/video/21c3duHlFAc/видео.htmlsi=oGlXiiGwGx5-ej9V
sorrry I subscribed your channel
Hmmm... my comment dissapeared
Weird
I have to say, as a Dane, that Faroe Islands is not Denmark! They may be a part of the Kingdom of Denmark (which is mostly a formality), but they are very much their own nation and people.
Gotcha!
Not Danmark
Hi Ashlena,i am from Scotland and i have just subscribed to your channel, the reason why i am writing this comment is to say i am a sound engineer in Glasgow Scotland and when Eivor played here it was the 22nd of Jan 2023,because of my job i met her and chatted with her,she is a very humble lady and a wonderful human being.I am very lucky to have met many artists when they come to Glasgow,to help with their sound and also still be a back up musician as i have played keyboard for over 37 years, great and honest reaction,Best wishes from Scotland.
Awww that’s amazing!! I’m glad she’s a a good person xx
@@ashlenamusic Eivor is a lovely lady,we met her backstage and also during her rehearsal, also may i ask,how do you make a request on your wonderful show.? It would be Chris Rea Nothing To Fear, also i have met Chris 6 times lovely humble man, once again Best wishes from Scotland X
