Changing air filter on a 2020 Ford Explorer at 43k miles
Here are the links to the exact Air filters, I'm currently using the K&N with noticeable reliability.
If you don't plan to upkeep the K&N filter by constantly cleaning it. I would use a regular inexpensive filter and replace as needed. Buy a few of the cheap ones in case your location has a lot of sand, salt, and gravel. Thank me later... I'm currently at 102k miles on my 2020 Explorer XLT 12/31/23.

Your video was perfect. Garage was trying to charge me $50 to do this. Bought the filter myself, watched your video. Done in 15 mins. Thanks

Dude, thanks for this video. Concise and straightforward. Helped me replace my filter with a K&N, and then reminded me how to do it when I need to clean it.

Keep it clean especially if you use the highway or dirt roads often. Glad it helped and yes the K&N does help a bit. if your gonna floor it thinking it makes more power, it will sip that gas quicker. im currently at 106k miles with the original brake pads.

remember to check your filter periodically. Im at 106k miles on the original brake pads, its a heavy vehicle so i brake early and let off slowly towards my stops.

you shouldnt pull the whole MAF sensor out, and you certainly shouldnt just let it dangle. They are extremely sensitive and any dirt or dust can give false readings and mess with your fuel mileage. They even make a cleaner specifically for MAF sensors because of how sensitive they are. Just a heads up

Thanks but it was a gentle dangle and everything has worked fine after 106k miles only needs oil and tires. Its been ford tough so far and everything works. knock on plastic lol

Since there is a sensor, does the computer in the explorer tell you when the filter needs changed? I just got a 2022 and was wondering if mine needs replaced.

Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing when to change this filter. however, I suggest changing the filter after the predetermined miles set by Ford . not sure what that is but i changed it after 43k miles. OR after long road trips, after prolonged use of gravel roads, or driving on beaches like Daytona Beach. The OIL LIFE is the only timer you can reset on the RIGHT SIDE of the steering wheel buttons. I changed over to a K&N filter at around 70k miles currently my Explorer is at 97k miles, just a few more weeks and I'll be at 100k miles soon for a long-term review. This is currently the best most reliable vehicle I've owned, thanks FORD yeah I said it's RELIABLE... yes/no the air filters increase this vehicle's performance when using high-octane fuel and AVOID CHEAP GAS. with high-octane fuel or ethanol-free fuel, I've reached 400-450miles of range. cheap gas will give me around 330-380 miles of range per fill-up. With any new used car purchased, always start with airfilter incase the last owner didn't change it.
