Rancid has been a big inspiration for me since I was a teenager (20ish years ago).
They made/make great music, they're talented, and they just seem like genuine cool dudes who love the music they play, and music in general.

The bass lines have always stood out to me, especially in your first album. Solid. Punk. ROCK.
Freeman has always been a straight up animal on the bass and one of my absolute favorites; but he was a goddamn monster on that first album.
This looks exhausting after 1 min, One of the greatest punk rock or any style bass players ever! Matt's music is more complicated than most rock guitar parts let alone punk.
Matt's always been one of my top favorite bass players.

What I love about Matt is how effortless his playing is. Now I can just about keep up with him but after 20 minutes I'm soaked in sweat, my arms ache and I've lost about 5lbs in weight.

This is great! Matt your the man. These songs always bring a tear to my eyes. Your basslines were the first songs i ever learned, and seeing you doing this takes me right back to my teenage bedroom, cheapest pawn shop bass i could find,no amp, headstock touching the wall for " volume", ear pressed into a speaker trying to figure out certain parts, and feeling like king ding-a-ling when i finally got it. Roots radicals, daly city train, timebomb, Olympia wa., basically everything on ...and out come the wolves. These were the first songs that i ever wanted to learn enough to sit up all night learning. Thanks.

The unmistakable bass tone of Matt. Even when you play your upright the tone is unmistakable. As a bass player I should know lol. That reminds me, I need to get strings for my upright. I'll probably go with supernils this time. Makes slappin' more fun but then again the coated steel core pirastros are good for bluegrass and folk, but rockabilly and psychobilly are so much fun to play. I have some shit to think about 🤣
