I think the secret to their mad(great)ness is when Zach said he just plays 'What he wants'. If inspiration comes, it does, but he doesn't try to adhere to any general public. Just his own thoughts. Which is what automatism is all about and which is why I FREAKING LOVE this band :)

I will agree that the negativity in the indie community is a little high but this kind of music will never overtake teenie bopper stuff. It just is your cup of tea or isn't. Nothing wrong with that. I could jam to this all day but it isn't for everyone.

I'm high, very high with this, I love it...
I really wish I had seen them around this time. I've seen them twice on the current 2019 tour and they just seem completely indifferent. I was really excited for the shows because I love the new album but the live show just does not have the punch that a lot of these 2017 and earlier clips have.
Saw them a new nights ago at London Kentish Town Forum (have previously seen them in 2015). Although the recent gig wasn't as much fun (partly due to being 5 years older and less enthused to go into the moss pit - the venue was also a lot bigger and the average age of the audience was older, the 2015 gig had lots and lots of teenagers there), the standard of performance was much better. Perhaps they are a bit more indifferent as you said, but they are taking their musicianship more seriously - so yes, they have perhaps lost some elements of their former selves, but they are kind of a new band now

Wow. And I thought 2012 was going to be a 'meh' year for music. But thanks to Captured Tracks -- from which we'll get new releases from Craft Spells, Wild Nothing, Beach Fossils, and yes, best of all (at least from what I heard so far), Dive -- it might be an awesome year after all!
I always see diiv live and want to talk to cole, he seems like such an interesting person. But i feel like if i went up to him and just started saying how much his music inspired me and yeah yeha yeh he would just be creeped out.

I would say you can hear it from All Apologies with it's oceanic-sounding "vibrating-tube?" guitar sound.
They're also influenced a lot by the old german band Neu!
