- We've been frequent attendees at Beach Fossils shows around town since we caught them last year during CMJ. We were able to get the band into the studio just before their show at Cake Shop celebrating the release of their debut 7", Daydream b/w Desert Sand. They played us four new songs and we were consistently more blown away as each one was taped. The band's debut album for Captured Tracks/Woodsist is just around the corner and from the sounds of things its going to be fantastic. You can pick up their record at our store, here: bit.ly/14SYuGO
This session will go down as legendary in indie music
The best Beach Fossils live perfomance that've seen until now.
I absolutely love beach fossils, their music is so incredibly harmonic and soothing.
it's super summery music , but the funny thing is I am constantly travelling to north america to ski and I absolutely hate summer (here in Perth, Western Australia, summer temperatures are constantly around 40C (104F) and it's just painful)
I remember watching this video when I was in middle school, on the computers in class. I’m 29 now and still love the beach fossils just as much if not more. Glad they made it so far.
Never knew cole smith from diiv was the drummer
watching this clip and it just got me thinking...man i miss jamming in the studio with my friends....
Holy shit cole looks different
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
@@Hayyden wtf, does these guys really do drugs? it doesnt looks like
I just wanna skate at the beach whenever i listen to them
is that cole playing the drums?
Yes
La mejor versión de ésta canción.
Beautiful song , guys! My fav BF track 😊
reverb is a huge factor for the most part, the delay usually goes with the beat of the song and they use chorus for a couple songs. They use some form of distortion for some songs to, it's not fuzz but I can't really tell what it is specifically. Also they usually just use the bridge pickup to get that twangy sound
These dudes Jam.
I've been listening to these guys since I was 16, I'm 23 now and I love them even more. They're one of the few bands I've seen live that sound just as good if anything even better and dreamier.
Coles hair lol
Fucking Cole kills it on drums! What an amazing time to be alive lol
Amazing...and a great song... 👏👏👏
DIIV are so good to
great work "in sound"
Love it
FLUX OF PINK INDIANS!!! that guitarist knows whats up!!!
looks really cool sounds cool too!
Super chill
very very good amazing👌
this should've been the one on the album
fuck. amazing. I could listen to this all day. This could very well be the theme song of my life
Was Cole Smith generally a stand-up drummer during his time in Beach Fossils or did he do that just for this performance. I can't say why exactly, but I've always found it quite silly when drummers are standing while playing.
Mount Average I saw them several times back in the day and he was always playing guitar. He might have first started out on drums with them though?
I think you're confusing Beach Fossils with DIIV now. Cole Smith was their drummer when he was in Beach Fossils.
check their another live's, Cole Smith palying guitar i guess between 2011-2012 in Beach Fossils
Aldian Primanda
I'm not doubting he occasionally played guitar for them as well, but he was first and foremost their drummer.
No he's right, the original guitarist Christopher who's seen in this video left the band and then ZCS started to play guitar and they got a new drummer (There's videos at sxsw for example of ZCS playing guitar for beach fossils)
Sometimes = DIIV
Yea but still its almost the same name. Why?
+Organic Videos Who cares? There's song with the exact same names out there by different artists, get over it...
:0
Way better than the album
Que banda foda !!!
Pedro Mateus sim! :D
Sim
2 anos atrás lol, oque vcs tão escutando agr?
The growlers, Future islands, Parks squares and alleys
Love this song, but love the "Flux of Pink Indians" t-shirt more.
Awesome!!! Sombody knows the bass' and red guitar's type? model? some information please..
Shoegazing
Flyer Phase 4 and some Teisco.
anybody know what kinda pedals they use? i saw there show in portland. i know they used reverb, delay, chorus, but im not sure what else.
Can't believe I missed these guys
This was a supergroup before being super.
listen to Retro Lake
anyone know what mic they're using for this?
@flufffyman Listen to the song mate! :)
what is that sheet over drums???
Aaron Hernandez it's a mute for the drums. It's so his tom sounds more like a kick drum and his snare is less ringy
Me flipan
All bout the subtle beat and no cymbals smashing the top end so the guitars can cut through. Simple is best.
Is that by any chance cole on drums???
bet he'd like some fries with STD
and yes, more original stuff on the way \m/
z cole smith // long hair don't care
Diiv is boring man these guys jammed so hard really wish they stuck around
+Meatwood Flac theyre still around
+GOD IS FAKE with the original lineup ):
agree
The bass is a univox hi-flyer , its a knock off of the mosrite one. but i have one its pretty tight besides all the semen stains on mine
nope, sorry not into guys. respect your lifestyle choice though. you're parents probably dont get it, and to be frank neither do i.
