Thanks for the video. I had a rear brake pad get down to the metal and start grinding. This caused a lot of buildup on the wheel in just a couple days. I fixed the breaks and then the snow hit and they salted the roads. All the salt made the buildup on the wheel turn to rust immediately. Bam, I had one crappy looking rusted out wheel. But, it came pretty clean with your method. Mine was really bad. I went to auto parts store an bought Eagle One mag cleaner. Thanks again.
you could use CLR or something like that which gets rid of rust and corrosion or do it the hard way by sanding the rust off and then buffing the scratches out made from the sand paper.
I have this problem with my 1992 DeVille. I can't get the rust off of them for the life of me. I've spent many hours scrubbing and cleaning them with just about every wheel cleaner from walmart lol. My car has 43k miles but the problem with that is that it's been sitting for along time before i purchased it. That stuff is really baked on there good. Please recommend a acid based all purpose cleaner I could use to help me remove this rust and old grime? Thanks Kyle.
i want to know i have 1984 chevy cavalier its rims are very rusty but its very old soo can u tell me help me what kind of spary will be good plz and nice video
I've used a gas pressure washer @ 3000psi to remove some of that baked-on crud. DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK ... I'm just offering my method. Even at that pressure some of it is hard to get off.
That's not rust, Aluminum doesn't rust, it corrodes. What you are cleaning is the dirt, grime, and brake dust that is absorbed by the porous aluminum. You can also use non-abrasive powder cleaners, like Bon Ami, to get the same effect.
Wow, great throwback!

Nice job cleaning but I wouldn't call that rust. Looks more like old brake dust.

@Midget424 It helps, actually. Less chance to scratch the wheels. Just like spraying a car down before washing it.
@devilblazer5 he didnt say anything about not using acid, he said it WAS a more acidic base.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Great job! Respect for a clean ride.
Very nice job! You do a really good job with your how to videos. I always share them with my Buddies. Very nice job :)
Assuming as a detailer, you would have to charge extra for the time it takes on the wheels?

wouldnt you want to wipe the armor all after letting it set on the tire for a few minutes so that it wouldnt spash on the side back panel
aluminum wheels don't rust, instead they corrode. So,
that brown stuff is brake dust and road debris.
I have clean tires but the brakes have rust how do I clean it without scratching the rims
i have got a standard steel rims in black color....and it has started to get rusty....will it work on tht?
if you apply water before doesn't it reduce effectiveness of the cleaner?
Sonax full effect, try it and there is no scrubbing
Great video!!! Very helpful!
what kind of acid do will take rust off my chrome center caps?
so you said the spray had acid in it right?...soooo why didnt you keep the tires protected from such hard chemicals....
Great video Kyle, but thats not rust, its break dust, and the whitewalls are so 90's but thats a kickass car :D

Use acetone, itll clean that shit right off.
I HATE idiots who call WHEELS, rims... The RIM goes around the outside, the whole part, is a wheel.

aluminum dont rust, enleast to my knowledge.
