    After initiating what will likely end up being one of the craziest rebuilds the NBA will ever see in its history, the Oklahoma City Thunder are starting to get into the thick of their plan. After having three lottery picks in the 2022 NBA Draft, and also being able to land a top 3 talent in Chet Holmgren, it’s clear the OKC Thunder are trying to make the most of their ability to get & develop young talent. But with Chet Holmgren currently recovering from injury, many stopped paying attention to the Thunder & the ridiculous things they’ve been pulling off so far.
    To start, the play of their other 1st round pick rookies in Jalen Williams & Ousmane Dieng have shown a ton of promise to start their NBA careers. And along with this, the MVP campaign on display from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the continued improvement of Australian star Josh Giddey, and even surprising rises in guys like Aleksej Pokusevski, Tre Mann, Aaron Wiggins, Lu Dort, Darius Bazley & even Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, the 2022 OKC Thunder are looking far better than anyone could’ve predicted.
    With their offense and defense performing at a new level, while waiting for the return of their prospect in Chet Holmgren, and SGA continuing to put on an MVP caliber season, the Oklahoma City Thunder could find themselves in NBA Playoff contention sooner in their rebuild than anyone could’ve ever guessed.
    This video includes 2022 Boston Celtics highlights, also including topics like Oklahoma city thunder 2022, okc thunder highlights, shai-gilgeous alexander highlights, jalen williams thunder highlights, josh giddey thunder highlights, ousmane dieng thunder, chet holmgren thunder injury news, okc thunder news today, okc thunder trade rumors, sga okc thunder news, okc thunder live, okc thunder full game, okc thunder podcast, okc thunder jalen williams, thunder rebuild, tre mann thunder, lu dort okc thunder, thunder nba news, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through RUclips.

      I'm an okc fan but the tank is not quite over yet .. why do you think there playing so many different starting lineups and all that... Because they want to be bad again this year get one more high pick in this upcoming draft before they turn into a contender next year.

    • @Urukgali
      @Urukgali Год назад +12

      @@billwright4234 incorrect. They play different lineups to see what's working best first of all. Then we have so many great potentials that everybody needs ot get a chance. Otherwise there's no point in investing in so many players. If you are a fan then you probably were scratching your head this offseason who should be moved away from OKC. While other teams usually have not enough young talent, OKC is having dillema of which potantial has the lowest chance of succeeding and which one to cut on the offseason. We also know that Thudner build their exceptional culture and one of a reason for that is to have loyal group of people. We had many examples in the past where players left small market teams when their rookie contract expired. I'm sure that would be the case again if there were players that didn't play at all because they were just 10th or 11th best option in a team.
      With this being said I also hate the word "tanking" because it suggests that OKC is trying to lose on purpose while it's exactly the other way around. Look at the subs they make each possessions at the end of the game for def and off purpose. TO's just to get a free bucket. Giddey being benched for the first two times at the begining of a 2nd half because more athletic lineup worked out better.
      If you still think they loose on purpose then you might be watching OKC occasionally or not recognizing what they are trying to accomplish.
      Of course if they don't get into play offs then having higher draft pick would be nice but that's not the point to inject looser mentality to young players.

    • @Wrestle_Kingdom
      @Wrestle_Kingdom Год назад +7

      @@billwright4234 that not the reason we play different lineups the coach does that to see what works and what lineups fits plus since chet is out that give other guy more reps to see who we should keep I think this be the last tank year and 2023 we commit to trying to make a playoffs push drafting one more player and making trades for veterans

    The Giddey hate from fans has been ridiculous. People think he's in a "sophomore slump," but he's been improving drastically in practically every aspect. He obviously needs to cut down the turnovers just like any young player, but he's taking creative chances in big games for them, and that's how he'll improve the most. That's how Poku has improved. They play these guys a lot of good minutes in close games, and the pressure can turn them into stellar players. We've seen J-Dub, Giddey, and Shai take over 4th quarters already. They're going to be great players, and that's not to mention Chet Holmgren, who I'm also extremely high on. I'm impressed by these guys, and I'm ecstatic to see what happens in their future.

    The way okc is able to stay competitive and maintain the game close even in games where they are shooting 20-25% from the 3pt range is really impressive. If you take into account the fact that for example this year they will probably be able to acquire another 10-15 1st rd pick (maybe add a solid catch and shooter that can give you 35-40% in a high volume or a small forward with a solid jumper), and the fact that you have multiple 1st round picks in the future from teams like the Rockets and Clippers which are underperforming, makes it really scary. When Chet comes back they will be easily a playoff team and each year will always add (at least!!) one 5-20 1st rounder to the roster, adjusting the roster with that they are in need at that time. This will get interesting.

  • @SonnyK248
    @SonnyK248 Год назад +32

    OKC are just a machine right now. I said before that if they didn't have a single draft pick for the next five years they'd have enough to have a potential superteam five years in the future. SGA, Giddey and Chet along with Willams, Dort, Poku, Tre Mann, Dieng and the rest have enough potential in my eyes to be a contender. Alternately if they had a garbage team and still had their 20 or so first round picks in the next five drafts they'd be really really dangerous.... but they have both 😥 Even if they contend for the playoffs right now with Shai killing it they'd still have four first rounders every year for half a decade which will never be four players because that's impossible so even if they are a playoff team they can still auction off say their 15th, 18th, 25th and 30th potential picks plus their bunch of second rounders hypothetically for a lottery pick or two every year if they want.

    • @coryrobert.lvkh25_8
      @coryrobert.lvkh25_8 Год назад +2

      This is great for a small market team like OKC, they obviously won’t attract big name free agents in the offseason so they’ve rebuilt their team in a span of 3 of seasons and some, go out, scout and stock up on draft prospects with really high upsides and developing them in OKC culture and environment.

    • @SonnyK248
      @SonnyK248 Год назад +5

      @@coryrobert.lvkh25_8 The only hickup will be when it comes time to pay everyone. SGA is already on a max. He's probably the only player worthy of one but is say Giddey becomes a 20 and 10 guy come re-up time some teams will probably offer him one or as close to just to get him for free. Chet will get the max. Your number two pick basically has to get one unless he's absolutely terrible which I don't think he will be. Then you have guys like Tre Mann, Williams, Dieng and Puku who could all easily become 15-25 million dollar guys. And then you have all the new guys who will come in later. OKC need to be prepared to pay a lot of tax if they want to keep all their guys.

Both precisely fit Sam’s type of kids. It wouldn’t surprise me to see these kids go two and three. And then there is Chet, whom the immodest KD said after playing against him, “He’s going to be a problem.” Not this year but likely next year as these basically lean kids fill out and mature the Thunder will be a force for years.

He has improved every single year and has legit been a top 5 player this season. Also something to talk about Chet opens this whole thing up, 7'2 shot blocker who shoots 40% from three, Giddey is an upcoming star and Shai is already proven but pandoras box of this thunder team gets broken open when Chet comes in and spaces out this whole thing. What if they trade for a player like John Collins at the deadline? I think this squad is developing solidily and if they got a player like Collins he might develop into a fine #2 next to SGA. You could probably get him for cheap and off load some of those picks that you don't really need. I'm scared they might end up like the celtics where if they have one good year soon they will have picks that aren't valuable to them anymore and they start picking players because they have to. I say trade for a developing starter/role player that can grow with this team. Maybe even a trade for a guy like Patrick Williams from the Bulls as they might want to blow up their roster as well.
