The Oklahoma City Thunder have engineered one of the most interesting rebuilds in NBA history. With a stockpile of draft assets which he acquired dating back to a few seasons ago after trading Russell Westbrook and Paul George, OKC Thunder GM Sam Presti has created a rebuild that has seen the franchise acquire star player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, playmaking wizard Josh Giddey, and most recently, 7 foot unicorn Chet Holmgren. The Thunder have also uncovered gems as part of their young core such as Lu Dort, Aleksej Pokusevski, Darius Bazley, Tre Mann, and just recently, Jalen Williams, Ousmane Dieng and Jaylin Williams. Currently, the OKC Thunder are still in the midst of a rebuild with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looking like their franchise star. Josh Giddey made the All-NBA rookie 2nd team after a stellar season wherein Giddey recorded the 3 youngest triple-doubles in NBA history. And even with Chet Homgren out for the season because of a lisfranc injury, Holmgren still remains one of the most talented prospects from the 2022 draft class.
Sam Presti and the OKC Thunder still own an unprecedented amount of draft assets, which can only be paralleled by the Utah Jazz draft picks. However, the advantage that OKC’s rebuild have is that they already have a lot of young pieces to build around in the team. But will the Thunder tank again this 2022-2023 NBA season in order to draft a generational star like Victor Wembanyama? Or will Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finally emerge as an NBA all-star, while Josh Giddey continues to improve? Will Tre Mann emerge as OKC’s much needed second scorer and can Jalen Williams be the hidden steal of the draft? In this video, we’ll look into the Oklahoma City Thunder and their crazy rebuild. The OKC Thunder have traded Derrick Favors, Ty Jerome, Theo Maledon, Moe Harkless and a 2025 second round pick to the Atlanta Hawks to the Houston Rockets for David Nwaba, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke and Marquese Chriss.

I think the most underrated part of this whole saga was the unreal season Chris Paul had for OKC. We all thought his career was just gonna die here and he instead finished top 5 in MVP voting and almost lead OKC to a first-round upset against the Rockets. They got so many picks out of that season he had as well.

That is if Bazley still have a mediocre to lackluster season again this year but if Darius improves and pops off how SGA & Dort's growth but also developement then Poku will just be a key rotational piece or role player
